I found this charming little Italian spot and thought it'd be the ideal place to celebrate my partner's birthday. I made a reservation for a Thursday evening, and even though it's right in the heart of downtown, we were lucky and managed to find street parking in front of the restaurant with free EV charging! Right when we stepped in, the interior is decked out in a modern art deco style. Vibrant & fun colors while still maintained a sosphiscated touch. After a few recommendations from our server, we decided to try: Mushroom Arancini (10/10): These are amazing, as soon as they brought it out, we can both instantly smelled the truffle oil. The exterior were crispy & pipping hot, the inside has creamy mushroom. It was certain my favorite of the night! Rigatoni alla Vodka (8/10): A solid pasta! The sauce was great and balanced. There was a good amount of sauce that coated in the pasta. The pasta itself was perfectly al dente! This is a staple dish but I felt like it might lack an interesting flair. Stuffed Branzino (8/10): Another solid dish! The whole were already debone which made it so much easier and fussed free. The skin on top was insanely crispy, the meat were juicy and overall tasted very healthy and fresh! It was a nice paired to the heavy pasta dish! They also gave us 2 cute canolis as a free birthday dessert which were super good! Overall, this is a beautiful spot for a date night and I'm glad I took my partner here! My boyfriend took us here for a late birthday celebration and upon arriving, we immediately noticed how beautiful the inside was. The ambiance was perfect for date night. We started with the garlic bread for appetizers. It was well presented but I think it would've been well paired with some sort of dipping sauce because it was a little dry. My boyfriend ordered the thousand layer lasagna and really enjoyed it. I ordered the rigatoni and thought it was just okay. I didn't realize the dish didn't come with protein so it felt like the dish was missing something. The sauce itself was nice but for some reason, some of the pasta was undercooked and some of it was al dente. For dessert, we ordered the chocolate pudding and tiramisu. The presentation was so beautiful. Both my boyfriend and I loved the pudding most -- I would definitely order this again. The tiramisu wasn't bad but it would've been better if it had a stronger coffee taste and if it was a little more moist. The wait staff was incredibly attentive and definitely made our visit feel special. She paid attention to the small details like helping us label our boxes, which I've never had anyone do before. On a completely unrelated note, I was surprised to find the bathrooms are shared between both genders. While there are separate stalls, the sink area is shared, which I wasn't expecting for a nicer restaurant like this. Rollati offers an aesthetic dining experience right across from city hall in DTSJ. The best thing we had was the garlic bread which was buttery, cheesy, and just the right mix of crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle. The broccolini was well cooked and very zesty. The squash blossom pizza was not a hit for us, it was bland and the crust was too chewy for our preference. I didn't try anything non-veg so maybe I'm missing out some of their better dishes. It's always a great time when I'm with my friends for our traditional birthday get-togethers. One of them recommended this restaurant and I was very excited to try it based on the pics and reviews. I'm really glad we went! [[ Location ]] It's right next to San Jose City Hall and the website directs you to the 4th Street Garage which has 90 minutes of free parking which is plenty of time to scarf down a meal. I think I only paid $1.00 since we ate for 2 hours but I honestly think it was very convenient and cheap. Very quick walk to the restaurant from the parking lot. Headed over for dinner with a friend on a Friday night at around 6:30 pm and they were able to seat our table of 2 immediately. The menu was simple and had classic items that were easy to decide from. The interior was very modern, moody with dark fixtures and a really cool bar area at the entrance. Rollati's Caesar - This was very fresh and a great start to our meal. The vegetables were crunchy and balanced with the dressing, parmesan cheese, light parmesan crisps and the croutons. My family and I visited this restaurant after my nephew's christening, and it was quite good. They offer a modern Italian twist to the food. We started with an antipasto appetizer featuring marinated olives, which was delicious. My mom couldn't stop eating the olives! For our main course, we had the crispy chicken Parmesan sandwich. I thought it was amazing and really juicy, but some family members mentioned it was overcooked. She explained the menu to us as it was our first time and it helped us decide what to order. I really wanted to love this place but was just left with a disappointing experience. My friends and I wanted to go out for a nice dinner and were recommended Rollati. I had higher than average expectations because it was kind of difficult to snag a reservation plus the prices were on the higher end. Ultimately, we ended up securing a spot around 9 PM on a Friday night and headed to dinner excitedly. We came a little bit earlier than our reservation and were seated immediately (yay!). The ambiance was quiet and romantic.. perfect for a date or a nice group hangout. However, it just went downhill from there. Our waitress came, took our drink orders and we took a few minutes to look through the menu. When we were ready to order, we waited for her to come by and she kept passing us by without acknowledging us. We thought, maybe she's busy tending to other tables and that's okay. So after a few more minutes of not being acknowledged, we gave her a little wave to let her know we were ready. She came by and let us know she'll be back to take our order. Fast forward to 10 minutes later, our order still had not been taken yet and my group and I were starting to get frustrated. Eventually, she came around and took our orders. Our food came out about 10 minutes later. My boyfriend and I got the Rigatoni Alla Vodka with Chicken and a Prosciutto Pie. We were really excited to start digging in but after we took the first bite, we were so disappointed. I'm sorry but the rigatoni was the blandest pasta I had ever tasted. And even when you did taste a little something, the flavor was nothing more than canned tomato sauce. We had to drown our pasta in parmesan to make it a little bit more flavorful. The Prosciutto Pie was not bad but also not good enough to justify the price. What I didn't like was how hard it was to separate the slices of pizza. Every time I tried to grab a piece, the slice I was pulling kept dragging the prosciutto from its neighbor. I did enjoy the dollops of mozzarella on top though. My friends also agreed that their dishes were lacking in flavor and were just disappointing. When we were ready for the bill, we again tried to get the attention of our waitress but to no avail. Whenever we did manage to flag her down, she just kept saying she'll be right back but didn't return for another 10-15 minutes. We arrived for a Friday lunch celebrating our daughter's college graduation. Parking was only available either through street parking or the parking garage across the street. The Italian hotspot, Rollati Ristorante is located in downtown San Jose in a fairly nice area across the City Hall. As soon as you walk in, there was an upscale and lavish vibe going on. The modern stylish decor definitely stood out. Since we had a large party, we were seated in a private area away from the other room full of tables. It was nice in that side of the room as it was less noisy and cluttered. I ordered a three course meal that was a great deal. First the Caesar salad was very tasty. I love Caesar salads and this one did not disappoint. Next I enjoyed the Rigatoni Alla Vodka pasta. You can just taste the freshness of the homemade pasta. Lastly for dessert the mini cannoli was sweet and savory. We were sharing each other's foods and everything was delicious. The staff was very friendly and attentive throughout the lunch. I normally don't order cream based pastas but the spaghetti alla limon is so good I couldn't resist, it not too creamy and the flavor profile balances out with the citrus you get from the lemon they add to it. This is my second time coming back, the service is fairly quick and friendly. Truffled Fried Mozzarella ($16): For six pieces of mozzarella, it's not worth it. I wouldn't be surprised if these were frozen and they just added a bit of truffle on top. Came in Valentine's day lunch because I saw they have special 3 course prix fixe for $65/person all day in OpenTable but when we arrived, was told that it's only for dinner and the chef wasn't willing to accommodate doing it for lunch. Pizza oven wasn't working either so were only left with rigatoni, lasagna, sandwich & burger from lunch menu, which was just significantly trimmed down this week. For some reason, they're willing to offer stuffed branzino and truffled fried mozzarella from dinner menu so we ordered the branzino and rigatoni with meatballs + crispy brussel sprouts. The branzino was super crispy but the sauce kinda ruined the bottom skin crispiness so maybe next time ask for sauce on the side :p Brussel sprouts are also good but the rigatoni is just alright. I was expecting a buttery richness from the cheese and sharpness from the pepper but did not experience either. The fried egg was also surprisingly underseasoned too! The pasta was cooked well, I just wish the flavors stood out more. Chocolate Budino: This dessert saved my meal and experience. Since I didn't finish the other entrees, I scraped the cup clean. A solid 3 for Rollati Ristorante. The best thing for us was the brussel sprouts and the broccolini. Both were very simple and delicious, which is why I think they were the stars of the show. The caesar salad had a parmigiano crisp that wasn't crispy at all - it was actually very chewy and hard to eat. As for the mains, the chicken piccata was very bland and it needed a side of greens or pasta. It also needed more lemon or capers to brighten up the dish. I was so disappointed in this one. The chicken parm was HUGE. The flavors were solid, but I recommend sharing this dish and ordering a side of pasta to soak up that sauce. Familiar with the parking lot that was here before, I had low expectations for this new flashy and trendy joint to join DTSJ dining. 10/10 experience! We came here for my husband's birthday. Was able to easily make a reservation via OpenTable. When we arrived, the hostess asked us to take a brief seat in the waiting area (we arrived ~10mins early). They set up our table quickly with special touches for the kids (special water cups + crayons/drawing paper). The hostess and waitress were so kind, giving us compliments and overall just very welcoming! The food we ordered was delicious. The only con is there's not a lot of options on the menu to order from, BUT maybe that's why the food is so delicious since they focus on a few dishes only. First impressions-- loooove the vibe of this place. (Finding parking really sucked though, best to just park in the garage a block down). It was so beautiful during the holiday time and it was the perfect place for me and my girlfriends' little holiday girls night where we also had enough space to do a gift exchange! So lovely. The service was very very good as well. Our server was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and also patient with my friends trickling in slightly late. She was so kind, funny, and honestly we just loved her. She accommodated all our requests with no problem and she made the best recs for our dishes. The drinks were so good! My gfs loved their espresso martinis and I had the lemongrass mocktail. Zero complaints. The water was hella crisp too LOL. The food was *chefs kiss* wonderful. Nothing bad to say. Literally just order anything your heart desires and you will probably be more than content. Portions were very good as well. LOVED the crab cakes. Don't miss out on those. Comes with three pieces so I shared half of one w a girlfriend. The vodka pasta was bomb, shout out to the server for the rec!!! Oh god also I still think about the brussels sprouts we had til this day because they were THAT good. Had the strawberry shortcake panna cotta to share for dessert and it was so good. Everything was good I can't even complain!! My only very minor things that prevented five stars was I wish there was a way we could put our purses on because we all either had to put it on the floor or next to our food. Rollati Ristorante is a new modern Italian restaurant that opened in the heart of San Jose. We came here around 5:30PM on a Friday with no reservation. There was no seating except at the fire place, but the staff was able to later accommodate by moving us to a table. We got the garlic bread, caesar salad, prosciutto pie, garlicky greens, rigatoni all vodka, and spaghetti alla limon. The garlic bread was crispy and had a creamy cheesy dip. The caesar salad was essentially a regular Caesar salad with their own twist. There was some crunchy cheesy bits that I enjoyed. The garlicky greens were refreshing and light. The prosciutto pie was essentially a cheese pizza with prosciutto; however the pizza was still delicious. It was very soft and fluffy. The rigatoni & lemon pasta was not anything too special, but there wasn't anything that stuck out negatively to me. The service and food were amazing and I'd definitely come back again. read more

Overall, Rollati is a cute restaurant with a cute aesthetic. We ordered a few dishes to share *Traditional Caesar Salad which was a solid Caesar. *Spaghetti alla Limon~ creamy, delicious, and had a perfect hint of lemon that I thoroughly enjoyed. *Mushroom Arancini: Filling and yummy, but could use a bit more flavor to elevate it. *8oz Filet: Cooked to medium and served on a bed of yummy mashed potatoes ~ definitely a highlight. While the food and ambiance were great, the reason for 4 stars instead of 5 comes down to their interesting cake policy. We brought a cake for our friend's birthday, with our own lighter, knife, and candles. Despite handling everything ourselves (no serving, cutting, or plating assistance from the staff), we were still charged a $3 cake fee per person. I'd understand the fee if assistance was provided, but it felt unnecessary given we did it all ourselves. Additionally, the service felt a bit rushed. Not a dealbreaker, but something to note. Would I come back? For the food and aesthetic, absolutely. But the cake policy and rushed service were minor disappointments. read more

I went here recently with a friend and ordered the rigatoni alla vodka. The sauce was flavorful and creamy and the portion size was perfect. Next time I think I would add chicken to make it a more filling dish. We were seated quickly and our server checked in on us frequently. The seating area had a nice vibe and it was very cute. Me and my boyfriend recently stopped at Rollati's happy hour. When we arrived we were greeted by the friendly host and taken to the bar. Their happy hour menu consisted of small bites, cocktails and pizza. We ordered the mozzarella sticks which were so good! 10/10 We then order the Caesar Salad which was pretty good. My friends and I came for brunch on Sunday. We ordered the garlic bread, truffled fried mozzarella, rigatoni alla vodka, and the thousand layer lasagna. I did not have high expectations for this place, but I ended up really liking the rigatoni alla vodka. The sauce is so good. I want to try and recreate the same sauce. We thought the garlic bread and mozzarella sticks were okay. There isn't much of a truffle taste on the mozzarella. It just tastes like a regular mozzarella stick. My friend like the lasagna but did not like the meat it came with and it comes with so much meat plated around the plate. read more

Nothing but praise for Rollati. I've been here for a few occasions and have only had good experiences with their food and service. (Also props to the interior design team bc the restaurant interior looks very classy!) I've tried the spaghetti alla limon and the rigatoni vodka pasta -- both of which are very good! I personally prefer the rigatoni vodka pasta, but I've heard that all the entrees are great. Only downside is parking is hard to find. The restaurant is right across from SJ City Hall, and it's mostly street parking nearby. read more
