I visited for laser hair removal at Grandeur after trying 2 other laser hair removal salons (groupons). I was super hesitant because I had a bad experience at these other salons. Apparently they were using a less effective method of hair removal and not only was it painful!!!... but the hair grew back almost just as heavy as before after having several treatments. If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. DO NOT COME HERE FOR LASER HAIR REMOVAL. I purchased a groupon last year and was at different phases in laser hair removal for lower legs, brazilian, and underarms. I usually saw Farah, and she was fine. Whether I saw Farah or someone else, I was always rushed and they always missed various spots. Every single time. That was annoying but fine. I scheduled an appointment with Farah 3 weeks ago. Someone had just walked in (I'm assuming a new client), and they told her Farah had an appointment already. For whatever reason, Farah took that client over me (despite the fact that I had an appointment with her). They then tell me that someone else is going to do my laser that day (I think her name was Tilla or something). This is when things get bad/scary. Farah came in and set the machine to the settings she wanted to use for me and then left. This other woman did not seem to have any idea how to use the machine. I got nervous and asked them both if she had done this before and that I had booked my appointment with Farah. Farah gave me a half-assed sorry, said this other woman had experience, and left. She started the laser on the front of my legs (after drawing on me, which was new). This was my 4th session on my legs (I was up to 6 sessions on my underarms), and it hurt more than it ever has. It was unbearable, to the point where I screamed (and I have a pretty high threshold for pain and this wasn't my first rodeo). She said it was going to be more painful because she was going over some areas twice (which seemed odd but I didn't realize how wrong that was until I researched it after). At this point, I'm nervous but trying to give them the benefit of the doubt. She does the brazilian - again goes over areas multiple times and it is the most painful thing I have ever experienced. It was not normal. I should've gotten up. Everything inside me was screaming to get up and something was wrong. But I didn't want to make a fuss or be a difficult client. Throughout this whole time, the machine keeps turning off. She didn't seem to know how to work the machine. What is normally a 20/30 minute appointment was over an hour. It was so strange. Then she did my underarms and this is when I really freaked out. As she was fumbling with the laser, she let it dangle, holding it by the cord, above my face for a couple seconds (directly in my face!) and then as she moved it away from my face, accidentally zapped my left arm! if it had been a second earlier, she would have zapped me in the face. At this point, she goes to get Farah because the machine is still not working properly. I noticed the settings had changed and was trying to point it out but she just disregarded it. I was too freaked out to let her finish so I started putting my clothes back on when she came back in with Farah. They ended up taking me into another room so that Farah could finish the back of my legs. By this point, I'm shaking and in shock. This woman didn't seem to know how to work the machine and gave me the most painful experience of my life - I was petrified she had burned me. It was that bad. I've had laser at intense settings before. It was not like that. It was unbearably painful. This woman had no idea what she was doing. I left in tears and then came back to talk to the manager. After getting some smirks, Farah told me she was the manager. She apologized and said how she surprised she was because this other women has great reviews. Sure she does. It was half-assed and obvious she didn't care and just wanted to get rid of me. I asked if this woman was qualified to perform laser and she showed me a certificate showing that she was a licensed esthetician. Apparently that is all you need to point lasers at people! They refunded me for the remaining sessions, which I obviously won't be using. When I called to check on the refund (because they took forever to process it), they were rude. Like I was somehow inconveniencing THEM! It was so scary and incredibly traumatic. I don't know that I can even continue the sessions, but if I do, it will be with a doctor who actually knows what they are doing. AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE - THEY ARE SUPER SHADY. read more

DO NOT GET FACIALS HERE. I booked a hydrafacial here after seeing an ad in the waiting room while I was getting laser treatment (details in next paragraph). The esthetician cancelled on me and I never got a call, so I showed up for no reason. The rep felt bad so rescheduled me with a discount. I came in to the rescheduled date, and esthetician was running late. 20 mins later started the hydrafacial- but she literally only used the hydra machine for 4 minutes only. The remainder of the facial was a massage and a face mask. Her phone rang during the facial and there was no music and the bed wasn't heated. She never steamed my face to open my pores either, like how it's usually done at other spas. It doesn't make any sense, how is anything supposed to be sucked out if my pores are closed? My skin doesn't look or feel any different than after I'd do a mask at home. DO NOT GET A FACIAL HERE. Go to Tamjidi Skin Institute in Tysons- for Hydrafacial ask for Sivan there- she will make your skin flawless. Even though I got a discount, it was a waste of $85 for a crap facial- I could have done better myself at home. The front desk people are also always so stressed and confused, I feel bad bc I know they're handling so much at once, but there has to be a more organized way. The laser treatment on the other hand was worth it. Farah is very kind and encouraging- that's the only reason I put 2 stars instead of 1. I saw results after the first treatment, but OMG does it hurt like crap! Tip: buy your own 5% lidocaine cream from Amazon before you go. The spray they provide doesn't help at all. I bought 6 sessions, but its been twice and nothing has grown back for me. I probably should have gotten only 3 but that's okay- I'll probably use the additional 3 on other areas. read more

The staff are so kind! Clean cute office and I've had laser sessions before at various places because of certain stubborn areas and honestly; this one is THE least painful I have been to. Best part, it's ACTUALLY effective and second best part, I don't have to worry about shaving the area before I come in because the laser can target over the hair! This place is okay, the ambiance is nice but there is confusion and unclear terms with their Groupon. I was happy that Ava helped me out and I was able to get the treatment I wanted but I think it's awful that their Brazilian doesn't cover the whole area "down there". If you want everything lasered off down there you have to buy the Brazilian, bikini line, AND perianal. I'm sorry but when you say Brazilian at any other salon we all know what that means. When you catch them in the act trying to cheat you they seem to get very upset, I've had them push my appointment back for this. They often take back their word. Great staff, very friendly and informative. I have been there for electrolysis and laser. I felt very comfortable getting laser therapy done here. When it comes to the electrolysis I am still getting it done here because you cannot beat the price but it did make me nervous that she didn't cleanse the area first, she did use gloves, and lastly I don't think she switched needles between clients but I don't know that for sure I just didn't see any new ones. This is the worst place for laser treatment. I came in here for my upper lip and chin treatment. After four sessions I don't see any improvement in the treatment and to make it worse my chin has lot of laser burns. I got laser treatments at Grandeur and it has been perfect. I am in and out within minutes. Mind you, should you book during Saturday, it can get a little busy. However, this only shows how popular they are! Parking is always plentiful and the location of the entrance is on the other wall of Citibank. The intensity of the laser they use varies with each session. I had Farrah for my treatments. She has been nothing less of sweet, kind, professional, and amazing. Don't waste your time or money, trust me! They only treat you well until you sign the papers and give them money - after that, you or your concerns do not matter!!! Initially, I was extremely happy with my first two treatments and felt that my hair was almost completely gone, but shortly after the second treatment, I started noticing that my hair growth came back as if I had shaved. My hair seemed stiffer and darker and the laser did not seem to work on me as we continue to treat further. I had shared my concerns with Farah, who seemed annoyed by my concerns and walked away stating that it's either my diet or hormones, which I didn't agree nor understood. After getting my 4th treatment, I spoke to her again because I did not see much difference in my hair removal and was extremely concern at that point. She literally got extremely rude and started to talk over me and once again stated, it's your hormones and diet and we do not guarantee any results. I was embarrassed from her behavior as others were around and listening. I was told by one of the staff member that Farah was having a bad day so I figured perhaps speaking with her over the phone in a few days would be more appropriate. Whenever I would call, the older Asian lady would say that Farah is busy with another client or not available at all and if I have concerns I would have to come in. I tried my best to explain to her that I had shared my concerns and shown my results to Farah during my last appointment, but her response was extremely rude and I did not want to be embarrassed again in front of other people. I was told there is nothing they can do and if I am unhappy with the results, perhaps I should go elsewhere or buy more packages. read more

I bought a Groupon for six sessions of laser hair removal on a medium area. I've only had one treatment on my underarms but I can definitely see a difference, and I'm really excited to go back. (I should also mention that I have fair skin and dark hair, which is the ideal combination for this sort of procedure.) I bought a groupon for laser hair removal. On top of that, I additional an additional laser hair removal for another area. It was nice that they offered their groupon price. I originally had Farah for my first 4 sessions, she was ok. I felt like she rushed through my procedures and not being thorough. On my 5th I have Eva which I liked better. What really made me dislike this place was that every time I made an appointment, I would get a call asking to change my appointment time for some odd reason. Examples includes: they had schedule me to come in earlier than a technician was to come into work or for example today (which was supposed to be my 6th and final session) they said they had an emergency and had to close the entire shop for some reason and asked me to come in earlier or to reschedule. The worse was when I had an appointment around 4(this was for my 2nd session, so I do not remember the exact times) and Farah had called me saying she I was the last customer she had after her 1:30 appt and if I could come earlier. Seems like she just didn't want to wait around and wanted me to come in so she can leave work earlier since I was her last appointment. Another time she has even called me asking to try and come earlier because she said she had somewhere to be. But there is a reason people pick appointment times and I had scheduled my appointment times around my work schedule. Overall the service wasn't so great and I've seen better results from laser hair removal else where. read more

Should have trusted the facial reviews... do not get a facial here. The procedure was rushed, the products were not high quality, and the face towels used felt like old cloths. I checked out the products, there were some brands I did not recognize, but also a wide range of drug store type products to include vaseline lotion and burts bees wax lotion. This is not what I expect from a facial experience. The spa music stopped and played a commercial twice, also when the woman left the room for I noticed she had been reusing the cotton cloths used to wipe my face and cover my eyes. They were still sitting on the head pillow and she reused them upon returning to the room. The woman providing the service was friendly, as were the front desk staff, just did not offer the facial experience I've had everywhere else.
