I came to Nilou Medspa after finding them on a Groupon deal in January. I was feeling at a loss with what to do with my skin after never struggling with acne my entire life, to dealing with constant breakouts over the last year. Went to Nilou Med Spa to get a hydrafacial. I initially thought of just getting hydra but Nadia suggested I need extraction and said she'll do an express extraction which I agreed to. She spent around 20m but I kid you not, my skin barely felt any different but there was too much pressure. Once I got home and touched my skin, I felt the same bumps I had before and barely any difference but I was charged extra $60 for extraction without notice. Onto the hydra facial... again, it felt like the standard exfoliation and hydration.. but sad to admit that I didn't see improvement in my skin besides some redness. One more thing that turned me off is when Nadia kept trying to sell me their salon sunscreen. Overall, it was a decent "experience" but it did not improve or enhance my skin. read more

Nadia is one of the best estheticians I have experienced. She is very informative, and if there is an issue with your skin, she would recommend ways to correct the problem. Writing an update here.... After having a second facial and being satisfied with the outcome down the road, I had a realization. In my opinion, Nilou MedSpa is very results-oriented. My understanding is the stance that removing debris, clogged pores, or whatever detrimental condition exists with the skin-- is key to allowing beneficial treatments to have the best effect. That is NOT a bad thing, in fact, it can be hard to find. However, as a customer, one likely needs to also have those expectations beforehand in order to be satisfied with the experience. So, if you are prepared to work, they will work with you, and you will likely very much appreciate the outcome over time. Came across this place based on the amazing reviews and decided to give a try. I am so happy with how my eyebrows came out! It's hard to find a new eyebrow lady but the ladies at Nilou Spa are amazing. My eyebrows look thick and natural. They cleaned up around my face too and my skin looks lighter and radiant. Huge plus is how gentle they are, specially when wiping the wax off. They were also very safe and followed all COVID-19 guidelines. I was a first-time customer today at Nilou's Med Spa. Prior to Covid, I got regular monthly facials at a spa that has since closed down. Since that time, my Mom suffered strokes and now requires full time caregiving. I decided last week to try and squeeze some time in for myself and remembered I had gifted myself a Groupon for a facial a few months ago. So I decided to take the day off and make some time for myself. The facial and the Esthetician, Nadia were awesome! Nadia was meticulous and very knowledgeable about skincare. I was so impressed, I had already decided to sign up for one of their subscription services and restart my monthly self-care program. Unfortunately, that all took a sharp left turn when the business refused to honor my Groupon. Upon checking out, I handed over a paper copy of the Groupon, acknowledging that it expired in June and asked the business to simply apply the amount paid to the price of the today's service. This is per Groupon's expired policy and clearly stated on the Groupon terms and conditions. The owner refused, citing it was not the same service. Once she became unhinged and stopped listening, I decided not only to disengage but to never come back and share my experience with as many people as possible. I even said to her, "looks like you just lost a customer" to which she replied, "that's fine, I have plenty of customers." So a big congratulations to her and her bountiful list of customers. I'm guessing she did so well with the Groupon over the last 9 months that she no longer needs customers or feels compelled to honor her commitments. I only wish I had known this before she turned my day of self-care into yet another day of stress. So if you find yourself looking for a great facial or like me, you need to take better care of yourself, by all means do so, only not at Nilou. Nilou is beyond excellent! I found her through Groupon a few months ago and I am so happy I did. First time I went to her she talked to me about my skin for a little bit and made sure I don't have any allergies. The microdermabrasion was amazing and I love how she goes all the way down the neck and chest area. I have been to her since for her signature facial and thoroughly enjoyed that as well. She also offers threading services and I have to say I don't think I've ever had my eyebrows done better than Nilou did them. I am so happy because I have difficult eyebrows and have been trying to find someone who can deal with them without making them too thin or too short and Nilou shaped them perfectly. She is very detail oriented and you can tell she takes pride in her work. I will keep going to her every month. Nilou is so sweet and talented! I came in to get my brows tinted based on the reviews and it went better than I could have expected! My brows are quite light and I'm a blonde, but Nilou was able to transform them so they look as if I have product in them at all time. I really dont like leaving a bad review BUT there is NO WAY this place is 5 stars?!! The salon is difficult to find, dirty, and is only a shared room with another legal office. I can get over ambiance, but the facial wasn't good either. She massaged my face so hard and kept going over my eyes and lashes and literally pried them open, not relaxing to say the least. She used a pumpkin exfoliator and it literally felt like she was rubbing oil all over my face, neck, chest, and did not wipe anything off well and used a spray bottle to spray/clean off my face?! It's a little hard to find: The door to get to the spa is street level on North Pershing, next to Astor Mediterranean. No outdoor signage, so you'll park in the lot out back, then walk around to North Pershing. If you're facing Astor and your back is to BonChon, use the door that has "2300" over the top, go up to the 3rd floor, and go in the door immediately in front of you. I've been going to Nilou for years for threading (eyebrows, mustache, chin), waxing (the sensitive parts), and facials. I always get compliments on my eyebrows (and no comments on other, random hairs) because they are perfectly shaped and make my eyes pop. Bikini waxes are always quick and efficient so that they are as painless and comfortable as possible. And my skin absolutely glows after her facials - and yet it's never red at all! I have no idea how she does that! Nilou takes cleanliness seriously - the spa was always spotless, and she has stepped it up even more since moving to the new space and in light of COVID. I see Nilou on a regular basis for a 90 min deep cleansing facial. Before finding her, I tried pretty much every spa/salon there is in search for a true deep cleanse with extractions. No luck until I met Nilou! She is exceptional in what she does, customizing services based on your skin needs. And did I mention, she does manual extractions (the only way to deep clean your pores and get rid of melias which I had plenty of in my case). My skin has never felt and looked better. Nilou is an extremely nice person and I wish I could recommend her and give her 5 stars, but the quality of service doesn't call for it. I went for dermabrasion with oxygen facial earlier today. The "spa" is a one room space. I didn't mind that and actually admired her for starting her business even in limited space. I wish what followed was any good. Two things that ticked me most: 1. She did my facial with latex gloves on. The sound, smell and feel of the gloves was unbearable. I don't have any pimples, there was no extraction involved or any risk of infection. I have never had any aesthetician use gloves. 2. She simply placed a towel over me instead of a blanket. I was so cold that I had to slid my hands under my bu** to keep them from cramping. read more

Nilou was extremely professional and informed me of each step of the facial. Since this was my first microdermabrasion treatment, I was grateful she let me know if I would feel a slight pain, and what products she would be using for each step in the process. She asked me every few minutes how I was feeling and I appreciated that a lot. She was also knowledgeable about how each product would affect my skin. I told her my skin is dry in winter, oily in summer, and very sensitive year round. I did not have any negative reactions- no peeling, itching, burning, redness, etc. After Nilou put on my facial mask (I believe the 4th step of the process after the extraction?) it needed time harden. During that time, Nilou asked me if I wanted a scalp massage. I absolutely LOVE getting my hair massaged and it felt amazing!!Every step in this process made me feel relaxed and comfortable. Overall 5 STARS for Nilou for the facial, her friendliness and reasonably priced! This was my first microdermabrasion and oxygen facial and it was a really great experience! The place is really simple and clean. She is a one woman show, so don't expect a bunch of people around or anything. It is a small room she rents and has all of the tools she needs to do her magic. I actually really liked that, because i got there and out in an hour and i didn't have to wait around or deal with a receptionist on the phone for 20min. She was very professional and kind. She was also very genuine and knowledgeable. She explained everything she was doing and did it so gently and delicately that i was definitely relaxed. I have very sensitive skin and i was shocked that by the end of the whole thing my face had no redness or anything! I could feel the microdermabrasion when she was doing it but at the end of the experience it was as if i had brand new skin and no signs of irritation. I really liked my experience here and the price is very approachable. She used gloves for the microderm and oxygen facial and i also appreciated that. Keeps her tools clean and keeps my face clean from germs etc during a procedure. Very hygienic which is a must! She took the gloves off for the massage at the end which was relaxing as well.
