This is what I consider a hidden gem in the Hills! The place is small and a bit dated but the owner is a great guy and makes everyone feel welcome. This is definitely a neighborhood favorite as I observed lots a togo orders being picked up. Everything is cooked to order and smells as good as it tastes. My friend and I ordered the big G breakfast which consisted of French toast, eggs, turkey sausage and grits or potatoes. Everything was delicious and fulfilling. I would definitely recommend coming here for breakfast or early brunch if in the area and I plan on coming back as well.

You'll feel at home, Treated like family. Really the best breakfast spot in Pittsburgh if you want cozy comfort. Grandma Bs consistently serves crispy hot fresh off the griddle pancakes. May this Pittsburgh staple forever stay in Business and be sure to spend your money here.

Had an outstanding experience this afternoon- ordered the can slam- added home fries and grits- others in the family ordered wake up special, the big g special and breakfast sandwich- all exceptional!!! The service was wonderful.

To know this little gem is nestled in my neck of the woods brings my heart delight. I had the pleasure of dining in for Saturday morning breakfast with my family. The vibe of Grandma B's is so relaxing & comfortable that you feel like your sitting in your own kitchen reminiscing & kicking back with your own family. You feel welcomed by everyone the moment that you enter. (I must warn you that this is a very busy establishment with that said; the wait time is impeccable for one person to maintain. It's actually fun to watch how he does it, while being engaging in conversation & laughter with the customers) Now let's get into the heart of the review....THE FOOD! Incredible & delicious is an understatement....I can see myself returning frequently to experience the full menu. Everything I had was completely scrumptious. If you want that "down home country breakfast" this is certainly your place. Sidenote: If you're coming with a crowd of more than 5 you may have a wait because the front end can only accommodate around 15 or so comfortably. They also offer take out as an option. Either way you can't go wrong.

This is a hot spot for breakfast and all my friends kept telling me to try it. The hours on Yelp and Google are posted wrong, because when I arrived they said they close at 1:30p on Sundays and 2:30p Monday through Saturday. Although I arrived at closing time, they were nice enough to take our order as the last order of the day, since I drove 30 minutes to get here. This is a cash only spot, so keep that in mind when ordering. Man....I ate this food so fast I did not have a chance to take a picture. The "AL special" gives you a chance to experience a fulfilling breakfast of pancakes, cheese eggs, potatoes, and turkey bacon. I ordered the French Toast. They gave me three pieces which were perfectly cooked throughout and topped with butter and powder sugar. I honestly did not need much syrup, if any. Overall, this is one of the best breakfasts I've had in a while, outside of my own. I will come back, but next time I will call ahead for pick up.

Wonderful breakfast spot. Maybe you saw it featured on Anthony Boudain's Parts Unknown? A real community place where everyone is friendly and the portions are generous. It's a small room where the kitchen is front and center. Although the sign says "Don't distract the chef," the chef was jumping in on conversation and greeting customers. Everything we tried was delicious. There are some unusual dishes, such as Fish, Grits and Eggs with Cheese. A unique place and lots of fun.

I stopped by while visiting Pittsburgh and ordered the Philly cheesesteak, and I would definitely go back for it. It's hard to find good halal places like this. While the man was making my food he offered to throw in some fries, just so I can try them since he said they were really good. I said no, only because I wasn't that hungry, and didn't want them going to waste. Next time I'm in town I'll try them for sure. The place is definitely a hole in the wall, and sort of a bad location, in the middle of nowhere, on a pretty empty block. It looks like one of the old school burger joints; big bar counter and a few tables. The brothers who worked there were super pleasant and made me feel comfortable in a room full of dudes. They do close for Jummah on Fridays, around noon, so make sure you call ahead if you plan on going around that time.

Although not Ukrainian, this restaurant has very similar flavors. The inside was incredibly charming and very cozy. The restaurant is inside of a small house. We also had a Kachapuri bread with mashed potatoes and cheese and their signature dish which was meat and rice. Everything was very good in the service was great. I believe that the food was likely Halal, although I can't be for certain. They did observe the Muslim call to prayer while we were there and offered prayer mat to guests who wanted to pray. We felt very welcome here and I would recommend this restaurant to others.

It is unassuming from the outside and seems tiny when you enter, but don't let that fool you! First, they have an entire extra room of seating in a space next door (that seems to have been recently remodeled). The menu has a nice variety of options listing hot and cold appetizers, main entrees, sides and desserts. They specialize in Uzbek Cuisine which is quite different in some areas, but also similar to other cuisines with certain dishes. There are a variety of dumpling entrees and also fried dough/fried pocket items. One of the favorites among my family is the fried pelmeni which are small, beef filled dried delights. Perfectly fried, bite sized and packed with flavor. They are served with sour cream and a sweet chili sauce, but you don't really need any dipping sauce because they are so good on their own. Another appetizer we love is the cheburek, a beef filled fried pastry similar to something like an empanada. For entrees, I've had the Uzbek plov several times. Rice with carrots raisins and lamb. The lamb is tender and perfectly seasoned. It is one of those dishes that I am stuffed but can't stop eating because it is so delicious. The pelmeni soup is another highlight. Perfect for a cold day or to give you an ultimate comfort food meal. Service is usually pretty attentive (although if you end up in the extra room it will be on the slower side but still good). There is street parking right in front of the restaurant, but if there isn't space, there is also a municipal lot about a block away. The one down side is that if they are busy, it can take quite awhile to get food. But the wait is worth it! If you are looking to try something new and different, give this place a try. You won't be disappointed!

The interior of the restaurant is nice (4/5) but a little small, so you may have to wait at peak times.

I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great cheap meal (my kind of place exactly). I tried the chicken over rice meal, which also came with fries and a side salad. The chicken over rice was delicious. The rice was well cooked, and the chicken was pretty tender. Well seasoned without being excessive. I loved the creamy white sauce they topped the dish with. Sooo good. And, great portion too. Enough to fill up a very hungry guy. The fires were also pretty great. A smaller portion, but still great (it's free fries). They top them off with a bit of that delicious sauce as well. Would have liked them to be a tad bit crispier, but still very solid. Finally, the side salad. It was simple, and nothing too crazy, but I appreciated them going out of their way to add some vegetables in. The chickpeas and beans were an awesome addition. The sauce for the salad want my favorite, but still, major props to them! All in all, I really liked this place. It greatly satisfied my hunger and they serve amazing food. 100% check this place out for a quick cheap meal.
