Visited on a Saturday afternoon and they were out of waffle cones and chocolate ice cream. Seemed to have an issue with their freezer as I heard her tell a customer the ice cream was too soft to put in a cone. My husband had a 2-scout Superman (that he said was "real Superman" and I had the banana split. Since they didn't have chocolate the server asked me what three flavors I wanted. Grandma Daisy's is completely filthy. I'm not sure I've been to an establishment ever in my life that was so disgusting. The floors, the tables, everything... the table we sat on had not been wiped down in what seemed like a week or more, it was crusty, sticky, disgusting. The mop bucket with dirty water was leaning against the food display. The food display that had pastries was left open the entire time and probably always is and the mop bucket was leaning against it. I had to advise my mother to not purchase anything out of it. The ice cream display container was also left open. The front register girls were chatting it up the entire time. They need to be fired and replaced with workers who know how to clean. I'm surprised this isn't like reported to health district to be honest. Maybe use the mop and clean the floors. I think that mop water has been sitting there for days considering the floors looked black and disgusting. The White Wedding and the Sudae Rush are mine and BF's favorites, respectively. I was pleasantly surprised by the large selection of goodies this shop carries. We noticed it while waiting for a table next door at The Coffee Cup and decided to stop in. The shop carries nostalgic candy, bulk candy, ice cream, shakes, chocolates, and candied nuts. The chocolates included barks, truffles, and more. The ice cream is Blue Bunny. We opted for a Birthday Cake Truffle and some of the barks. The truffle was very good and larger than the average truffle. My husband liked the barks. My kids and I stopped in for cones after checking out several shops and antique places we'd never been to. The young lady behind the counter was very friendly and she prepared our ginormous 2 scoop cones quite quickly. I was surprised how large the cones were since many places are stingy on the scoops. Not this place! My kids really enjoyed the ice cream and managed to finish off the cones in record time! There is no seating inside the shop but seating is ample right outside the door. Mom and I decided to take a trip down memory lane on this beautiful Saturday afternoon. We drove out to our old house in Boulder City and decided to drive around and check out the quaint stores. We came across this cute little store as we were both craving ice cream. They had Blue Bell ice cream (salivating at the thought of that ice cream)! I have been to this place many times over the years and it's generally been pretty decent. Quaint decorations, turn-of-the-century ambience are the hallmarks of this parlor. But lately the younger staff that has been working there is not friendly AT ALL and is not providing any kind of quality control. $1 for sprinkles and a cherry and we had to ask for more when we received barely a teaspoon. Also the ice cream was old the flavors were generic. Why would you spend $4 for a small scoop of this when you can go to ANY Mexican icee cream shop and get something made in-house daily? You can't miss its PINKness driving by its strip mall location on a hot afternoon. Street parking is free in the area. You'll find ice cream, truffles, candy, fudge, popcorn, novelty gifts, and more. The truffles, made by Sweet Shop USA, would have been better with a softer and creamier interior. Highly recommend this little candy store! Place was a lucky find on Christmas Eve afternoon just before they closed up for the holiday. Now we'll have to find a way to get back to Boulder City more often just to stop here! Good chocolate covered pretzels are so impossible to find anymore because either the pretzel is old and stale or the chocolate has turned grey. Anyway, the prices were really great for a specialty ice cream shop, around two bucks for a scoop. The service was pleasant and fast, and I also saved 10% by checking in on Yelp! Bonus! As for the ice cream, I did not finish mine. It was either super freezer burnt or had thawed and then was refrozen. Same story with my wife's ice cream. My kids, I have no idea as he inhaled it. So maybe it was fine.‍‍ I'm not sure he tasted it Really cute interior and big selection of sweet treats, and a nice variety of diverse flavors of ice cream. I would come back in the summer, as I'm sure the turnover for ice cream is much higher with all the traffic and less probability of it being freezer burned. I also enjoyed the dark chocolate and cashew nut cluster. They also offered peanut, Pecan and walnut clusters with your choice of milk, dark or white chocolate. We tried to stop in for a treat on Friday, April 26th. We walked in at 6:46pm and were greeted by the employee (a approxx 16 year old girl) who gave us a weird look and said, "we close in 5 minutes". This was done as she was mopping the floor and at 6:46pm. We briefly stood there to see if her demeanor would change and allow us to purchase ice cream and she stood leaning on the mop. If the hours of your shop state open until 7pm, please allow patrons to come in and make a purchase. She may be able to mop the floor and close up at closing time of 7pm as to not turn away customers. There was a family of 4 sitting outside at a table whom witnessed our encounter and said she treated them rudely also, but they were allowed to get ice cream. This has to be my favorite business in Boulder City, and a can't miss for anyone visiting this quiet little town. I usually stop here for a real Chocolate Malt on a hot summer day, but there was something that caught my eyes on the counter...BACON! A bacon toffee, and somehow that darn thing was staring at me to take it home. Damn it, that combo is a heart attack ready to happen, but you only live once...and why not work it off at the gym. I love candy of all sorts from home made, to Hershey's, to candy necklaces etc. My favorite fruity candy is Nerds, and my favorite chocolate is a Heath bar. So a few months back while having breakfast next door at the Coffee Cup, I wandered in this old fashion style candy store to find out they have Heath bar carmel apples. That they freshly dip in house. SAY WHAT?!!? I was stuffed from breakfast so I ordered my apple to-go. We also enjoyed a classic malt, and some chocolate dipped strawberries. The selection is not HUGE, but the variety is decent for a hole in wall candy shop in Boulder City. Other than the apples, the prices are great. The apples are $5-8 depending on your toppings. But let me tell you they are worth every penny. I literally crave this when I have a sweet tooth. I am sure the other choices are great too but I am so addicted to my heath apple I have yet to try another. The ladies working are always sweet and answer any questions I may have.
