I took a trip to Boulder to discover this quaint little town. Around 12:24 I was informed this was the place to go for great candy and carmel apples. Upon walkinging in the out side was cute. Upon walking in I did notice the employee was younger and I asked if they had cowboy mix candy. "I don't know what that is" she replied. She was making caramel apples and I continued to shop. I seen assorted taffy that said 15¢ and I asked is it 15¢ per 1peice of candy and she said "no it's 9$ a lb", which I believed was sort of pricey. I then asked what flavors they were and she said "idk", This employee was very unattentive and unhelpful. She expressed she could or I could go on the internet to figure it out. I seen dots in the store for 2.50$ which I can get for a 1$ at any local grocery store. At this point I just decided to get 3 Carmel apples. She told me, "I just made them so I can't sell them". I replied with "can't you put it in a bag or box and I can eat later?" and she said no. So in conclusion....over priced candy and candy you have no idea what you getting and then to have them not to a sell 3 apples??? What kind of business is this? I don't think I'll be returning to this place at all. Just a heads up you want an Carmel covered apple go after 3 pm. They also should hire more knowledgeable employees. read more

Everytime I'm in Boulder City there's no way I will not stop by Grandma Daisy. They make fresh caramel apples with different flavors although my favorite one is the plain caramel. I love their malt shakes and I can always choose from their different flavored ice cream. You need to try their homemade caramel because it's to die for! We ordered almost every flavor of truffle and honestly if it weren't for the decorations on top I wouldn't be able to tell you what flavor I was eating. The best one was the coconut dark chocolate one simple bc the chocolate was actually good. All the others are covered with milk chocolate or white and they have a very waxy texture and flavor. I have been here a few times over the years. I came all the way from Vegas for carmel apple with my in-laws hoping to show them a few places I enjoy in Boulder City. Apple was ok. The problem was the costumer service. Brunette young girl with very long, ponytail didn't even bother with us. We walked in, we said hi. She was working on rice crispy treats. We went straight to the cashier area as all we needed were the caramel apples. She didn't say anything. Awkward silence. Finally I said in a very friendly way, " hi, we're ready", hoping to hear anything. She then (appeared annoyed) said something like this, "ok hold on I only have a few minutes before I can finish this...". Ok... Why couldn't she just say that in the beginning like hi! I'll be with you guys shortly, or anything when we first walked in? Anywho, so we continued to wait... Finally she just said "ok." I went ahead and ordered and paid. Then, my mother in law asked the cost of the bark "pieces." She responded with the price for the pound. So then my mother in law asked if she's able to order by the piece. The girl looked annoyed. We left. We won't come back. It's not a big deal but the fact that I came all the way here to support a small business when Vegas has much better apple places (personally) is not worth the drive. You can't resist buying something! I made sure to buy something made in-house---most of their chocolatey things are, just not the truffles. This is a little candy shop with lots to offer, huge carmel apples, truffles, toffee, homemade fudge, sugar free options as well. Was driving through the area and spottes the sign for this shop. The keyword being Fudge. When you walk in, its a small little shop where you can see the employees making the caramel apples. They have a novelty selection of candy, several unique cotton candy flavors such as pickle, and some plushys to buy. There is a selection of ice cream and shaved ice. There is a small display case of chocolate covered candies such as turtles, bark and fudge. They sell the fudge by weight with the smalled being 1/4 lbs. The chocolate fudge was DELICIOUS!!!! Instantly reminded me of my childhood candy shop on the beach. Except this was way better than any Ive ever had and I am a chocoholic! If your craving fudge this is worth the drive. We walked in in search of the fudge. We saw that the shop was old-fashioned and very cute. They had all kinds of goodies! Fudge, popcorn, cookies, caramel apples, and candy galore! We looked at all of those choices of caramel apples, but decided to stick with the homemade fudge. There were many varieties of fudge in little cubes and wrapped in plastic. This cute little retro candy and ice cream shop is a must see when you're in Boulder. The pink cow outside is adorable. As a vegan, I appreciate the shaved ice options for us non-dairy folk. They have old fashioned candy, ice cream, truffles, caramel apples, and bulk candy items. It's super cold inside the the shop, and is a nice place to sit and beat the heat. My wife enjoyed the coffee ice cream. Be warned, that the double scoop portion is huge! Our friend had a haystack and a lemon truffle. He said the haystack was just OK, and the lemon truffle was extremely decadent. He needed a water after eating it, but enjoyed every bite. My girlfriend and I have lived in Vegas nearly 40 years. We've been through Boulder City many times but never actually stopped anywhere other than to get gas. Today we decided to play tourist in Boulder City. Many of the shops we stopped in made us feel very welcome. This was not one of them. Upon entering the store there was a group of just over half a dozen people in there. They were probably just checking it out like us. Shortly after they left we heard one of the clerks comment to the other about how big the group was and how cheap they were not to purchase anything. We left shortly after hearing that comment. I work in retail myself and sure I've been know to complain about cheap customers but I always make sure they're out of earshot and they get my friendliest service. This place could use some lessons on customer service. All this aside....the place did look great. read more

This cute ice cream place carries some old novelties and a ton of charm. They do have modern prices so be sure to have cash on hand! Their ice cream selection is from Blue Bunny and pretty basic--nothing homemade or hard to find. I was a little saddened by the bland choices so I decided to go with the more creative " cake batter milkshake" which is vanilla ice cream blended with cake batter powder blended smooth with a shit ton of sprinkles. I regret deciding to share it because it was soooo good. The milkshake was very flavorful and really tasted like cake batter! I would come here again and get something special, but I would skip the nearly everything else because it is at the grocery store for cheaper. read more

After reading some of the reviews I get the feeling that some of the reviewers really did not care for the old timey vibe this place was giving off. I admit that the two ladies working we're laid back seemingly without a care in the world, but I liked that. It felt very rural and quaint. My girlfriend and I stopped in here for a mid-afternoon snack and the hope of some espresso as we strolled through the downtown area. It took a bit of looking around and getting the senses adequately aroused before we decided if we wanted to stop here or not. After a bit we decided to give some of the homemade candy a try. I got a batch of candied pecans and a bar of maple fudge with nuts. Unfortunately the espresso machine was out, so I ended up with some drip coffee and my girlfriend decided to try some Earl Grey (though it seems they did not get many requests for tea from the way they fumbled around looking for it). When we actually sat down to share the fudge while sipping our drinks that's when I knew I was in love. The fudge was heavenly! It even surprised my girlfriend. Apparently she was not expecting much out of it, but after having some decided it was comparable to a favorite fudge she had back in her home town. While there were definitely some kinks to work out at Grandma Daisy's the fudge was so good that what would normally be a four star review got bumped to five stars in my book! read more

This is an awesome retro place. And it smells so good whenever I walk in. The homemade candies, the waffle cones. Everything. There are old fashioned sodas and candies. The ladies woking the counter are always so pleasent. They sometimes seem kind of scatter brained but it adds to the charm of this little place. On my most recent visit I got a chocolate malt for a modest price. That sure was good. I don't always like ice cream but this was worth it. We stumbled upon this place while in town for Art in the Park. Outside they have a awesome pink cow and a sign for fudge. I have been on the hunt for good peanut butter fudge for quite some time so I of course had to stop and check this place out. When you walk in you get the old fashion soda shop feel. They have quite a large selection of hard candies and novelty items if you walk around the store. Its a good size. They also have many items behind the counter . I will saw they were probably busier then usual due to so many people being in town but the service was not all that friendly. We weren't greeted when we came in and I had a hard time getting someone to help us. Once we did get help I made my selections from the display case. We tried the Salted Maple Bacon Caramel, ,a Candy Apple Caramel piece.. I may have the names wrong but basically they were flavored Caramel squares... both of which had a very strong "burnt" flavor yet definitely tasted home made. The peanut butter fudge was delicious and I will definitely be back for more of that. The real highlight of the whole place though was the piece of bacon dipped in chocolate that I got. It was very well cooked and tasted delicious. Prices seemed quite reasonable for the type of shop but the service could be improved. I prefer to be greeted when I walk in a place and I don't like to wave down folks to order from the candy display but overall its worth checking out. While waiting for our table next door at Coffee Cup, we stopped in to check Grandma Daisy's out. I was expecting there to be this amazing smell inside, but there was nothing. With the menu and glass cases proudly showcasing fudge, hand-dipped chocolates, toffee, brittle, caramel apples, shakes etc. just to same some, I expected this really sweet and delicious smell, oh well. I picked out a couple of their truffles, the Key Lime Chiffon and PB and Pretzel Crunch and both were really lacking in the flavor department. They both just tasted like white chocolate and they both cost about $2.50 each. I did enjoy looking through the nostalgic candies they have and found most of the prices for that stuff to be reasonable and enjoyed the few things I purchased from that section. There are a few tables and chairs inside and I noticed a table outside. The ice cream isn't homemade, but at $2.75 for a single scoop and just a buck more for a double scoop, it really hits the spot on a blazing summer afternoon strolling around historic Boulder City. read more
