Great breakfast food and hot dogs. It's a cozy spot however the dining room doesn't have much space

This was a pretty cool place,  just off the highway.   The place has lots of parking and so much to look at.   It has outdoor seating and a cute various animal decor on the side of the building.     Inside,  it's pretty compact but so much to look at once you enter.  When you walk in, there isn't much standing space to place your order.  It easily gets crowded with a line in no time.   The lady who took my order was super nice and patient for us first-timers who are unsure of what to eat.   In my case, I like to order a little bit of everything.     They had a variety of snacks and drinks.  While I was waiting,  I couldn't help but look at the various signs and even pictures of cars they had posted.   My guess is they probably used to have car shows or something back in the day.  The pictures look like they were taken quite some time ago, which makes me think this place has most likely been here for a while.     We ordered: 1. French toast combo with corn beef hash and eggs - When I saw 10 pieces on the online menu, I was like, what? After trying it, I can't get enough.  It was fluffy and light, perfect balance of bread and egg.  It wasn't overly sweet.   To me, it didn't even need syrup.  Corn beef and egg were amazing.  It's simple but perfect.  I'm the type that would've loved this even more with rice. 2.  Breakfast burrito with sausage and bacon - It originally comes with 1 meat, but I normally do 2.  Why choose when you can have both?  It was amazing, I'm not a fan of bell peepers but everything mixed together was the perfect balance in every bite.   You get the softness of the egg and potato and crunch from the bell peppers.  They did not skimp on the meat. 3.  Bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich - The lady told me this sandwich was the most popular breakfast sandwich.  I had it the way they made it and didn't even switch the bread.   I believe it was a kaiser roll.  This thing was perfect just the way it was.   It's simple, but it hits the spot.  It warms the belly right up.    Honestly,  I have family that lives close by, and they have never tried it.   I told them you guys need to go here.   Portions are generous, and items are reasonably priced.  I can't wait to come back when I'm in the area and try more items. read more

I've returned to Grandma's several times since my first review. I stand by my opinion that Grandmas is fantastic and worth the trip. This morning I changed things up a bit and got the Western 3-egg omelette. I added the homemade hot sauce. Try the hot sauce. It's not gonna hurt you but it's got a great lasting flavor that is exactly what I crave when I think of this fine little restaurant. Service is great, and you know I adore the ambiance. We stopped by Grandma's for a quick breakfast while our pup was at the Dog Groomer in Hillsborough Township. Had we not used the GPS and Google Mapped the Building to get an idea of what it looked like, we would have passed right by this adorably quaint, happenin' little coffeeshop. I wanted to test the basic skill set of this cute snack shack, so I went with my regular: Egg whites, Turkey & Swiss, S+P on a Roll. The man got Porkroll, Egg & Cheese with (2) Hash browns. I snatched us a table to dine 'Al Fresco' and he waited inside for our orders. With at least four other customers ahead of us, our orders were ready in less than 10 minutes. Impressive! I take a bite of the hash brown first. Super crispy, super flavorful, not over-salted or over-seasoned; Puts McDonald's Hash browns to shame. I took a bite of my sandwich and I was impressed. Egg whites can get dry very quickly and these were very tender and moist. The cheese and turkey were abundant; just as I like. I was thrilled with my breakfast. Both of our sandwiches, hash browns and Snapples were about $20. With tip, it was $25. Next time we pass by, we're definitely going to stop in for something more adventurous. read more

Super old school, it's giving Stewart's in a different font. A very very small, homey, quick service spot for breakfast/lunch I think dinner too! You order then grab a seat inside or outside. For a little place, they have a lot of options and even FAT sandwiches! The breakfast hit, and it tasted like it was made with love, hence the name grandma's. It was nice to experience, but I wasn't really wowed. It was a one and done for me, as a non local passing through. 8/10 read more

Amazing little place you would probably never notice or stop at. That would be a tragedy. It is a tiny little place you would miss completely if you aren't looking for it. It is totally unassuming but it is not to be missed. They have excellent Taylor Ham sandwiches, good burgers, good empanadas (OK, the hot dogs aren't so good) - but it is the onion rings that blow me away. I have no idea how they do it. First off, I hate, hate, hate, undercooked onions in onion rings. Truly can't stand them. Typically, there are several options when it comes to onion rings. There are onion strings that are whispy thin and dredged in flour. I like them but they are not onion rings at all. There are thinly sliced onions also coated in flour that come out nicely but aren't fully satisfying. What i truly like is a thick onion ring dipped in a nice thick batter. The issue is, it is virtually impossible to get them cooked properly. Either you cook them at a low temperature to cook all the way through and they are total grease bombs. You cook at a higher temperature long enough to cook the onions correctly and the outside is burned. You cook the outside correctly and the onions are way underdone. Somehow they manage to find that magic spot where the inside and outside are perfect. Every time. I dream about these things. So, give it a try. The inside is tiny but most of the business is take away so I have never had trouble finding a table. Really kitschy garden out front to keep you entertained while you wait for your food. Just go. Small little shop that offers a variety of comfort food. They have wraps, hot dogs, burgers, breakfast food, etc. Service was pretty quick. We were in and out the restaurant within 15 min. read more

This mom and pop restaurant doesn't look like much when you drive by on Rt 22 East in Branchburg. Its located next door to the Royal/30 Burgers. It's a little green building with a decent size parking lot. It's good for Truckers because you have room to park. This is a very casual place, nothing fancy, it could use a little updating. It's wheelchair accessible. You can also place an order by phone and swing by and pick it up. They also have local delivery.( call and dbl check your area.) They have some indoor dining, and a few patio tables outside with a cute little gnome garden. Grandma's serves breakfast and lunch everyday and Sundays from 6a to 3pm. Saturdays 7a- 3pm. They offer a good selection of items. Grandma's is known for their delicious chili dogs. I had to come try it for myself. I ordered 2 CHILI DOGS with CHILI, CHEESE, and ONIONS. To my surprise, the chili dogs were some of the best I've ever had. They use premium Thumman's hot dogs which are deep fried. ( if you like Rutts Hut or Hot Dog Johnny's you'll love Grandma's.) Thumman's happens to be my favorite brand of hot dog, ( it's a Jersey, NY, Connecticut thing.) They have a nice snap when you bite into them. Grandma's chili has good flavor, not spicy it was the perfect accompaniment. They also offer Chicago Style Dogs and Texas Weiner style too along with burgers. Grandma's has fresh coffee brewing all day. You can get omelettes, french toast, pancakes, breakfast sandwiches, cheesesteaks, burritos, wraps,cuban sandwiches,quesadillas etc. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Awesome tiny little spot that my boyfriend and I stumbled upon after being in the area. I really would've liked to try everything, especially the taco dog, but the bf yells when I order too much cause then he has to finish it (annoying). So He got the 49er and I got a breakfast sandwich with steak eggs pork roll and cheese. Both of our options were so good, prepared perfectly, and really fairly priced. The spot itself is cute. Finally tried this place. Too cramped for a sit down breakfast. Most of their business is takeout. My pork roll egg and cheese sandwich was dry. The eggs were over cooked. BFs fried eggs were also cooked a little bit too much - whites over cooked and yolk partly cooked. Home fries were good and nicely seasoned. read more

Ok parking sufficient. The place could use a little updating but still a cool spot. The service... I'll explain. You walk up to the counter order your food and then it's brought to your table. Very fast very clean and plentiful. The people very nice.. the only one thing I can say bad about this place is I saw two flys but I pretty sure one came in from outside so really just one. Just like you'd cook at home, that is if you serve huge portions and make delicious food. My husband and I recently grabbed a late Sunday afternoon lunch. Pork roll, egg and cheese for me on a Kaiser roll. He had the pulled pork sliders on 3 gorgeous little buns topped with coleslaw and a tangy sauce. Side of slaw and pickles for him. In nice weather it's great to sit outside at the very clean picnic tables surrounded by well-maintained plants. We were still sipping left over morning coffee from home so I can't speak to what drinks they have available. Staff were polite. Grandmas has two tables and a counter facing out for you to watch automotive misdemeanors at a pace you only see in NJ. Grandmas is a funky little place, my kinda place. It's got character and charisma, painted a bright green and a VERY extensive menu. We all know the sisters used to own this restaurant. Was called Jeanies Weinies. We never had a problem with previous owners. They got our order wrong, had to wait. 5 minutes later we both got sick stomachs. We know they deep fry everything. The only thing we had the same was the deep fried sausage. This place used to be called Genie's Weenies months ago. This was my first visit since they changed the name. I had French Toast there and asked for less than five pieces. It was good but the pieces were thick. I was told that the thick pieces are "the way that we always make them". I would prefer to have it on thin bread and will ask for it next time. read more

Ever since the Mexicans took over unfortunately it hasn't been the same as when the old owners ran it under the Genies Weenies name. They don't take their business seriously so they won't get mine anymore. I'll just go somewhere else. I'll go to Express Mart on 202 for a breakfast sandwich better off that way.
