This is a traditional American diner. Our waitress Tina is amazingly courteous and kind. She constantly checked on my coffee . The pricing is very fair. The ambience is an American fine cozy establishment with booths and dining chairs. The waffle is malted and poofed over night it was DELICIOUS. But what really was amazing was the ranch and fries. It was basic food similar to Denny's but prices were 50% higher in comparison. It wasn't bad but not good either. Staff was nice though.

My wife & I prefer real family restaurants to chain places, especially when we are on vacation from NYC. Well we stumbled upon Grandma's the other day and it was the highlight of our trip to Cannon Beach & Seaside! The humble outside hides an amazing neighborhood place with huge portions of good, clean food in an friendly, welcoming & above all, immaculate restaurant. The staff is super friendly and the food is amazing (My wife's breakfast had a pancake so big it hung off the plate, while my hashbrowns took up half the platter!). The flavor was so good, made with love and just for you - they even make "Light Eaters" portions - brilliant! Plus their gift shop area features local artisan's work, like paintings, photos, glassware & more. Do yourself a favor and venture to Grandma's Corner Kitchen when you can - you won't regret it. This place is just like walking into someone's grandma's house. The decor is all very grandmother-ly. It's homey. I was seated quickly - and the waitress asked if I wanted coffee. I said yes - and initially, she brought out a coffee mug that was dirty. I didn't notice it was dirty - she did... and she corrected the situation immediately. That's good service... thank you. The coffee was generic just like one would expect at grandma's house. Grandma isn't paying extra money for Starbucks this stuff comes from a tin can, and it was just as I expected. It was ok. I ordered French toast, scrambled eggs with cheese, and 2 sausage 2 bacon. The food came out quickly and the eggs were done perfectly. The French toast was smallish but very tasty. The bacon was hard as a rock and I don't have the best teeth to start with. I tried but couldn't get through it - the sausages were pathetic for the price (17.50) and definitely need to be upgraded. Even my grandma would be ashamed to serve those dinky farmer John's sausages. The service helped each other fluidly. One brought my food, one filled my coffee, one brought me my check. That was all good teamwork. The staff here is solid. Now, as far as value it's just not there. This is maybe 3 bucks worth of ingredients marked up to 17.50 - another situation where "the coast just costs extra"... or is that "we need to squeeze these tourists wallets". Either way, the quality vs price just wasn't here. The staff made this an OK experience for me - and the attentive waitress that noticed my cup was dirty before I did earned the tip. He not only gave us great recommendations but brought us a sampler of the gravy they use on their biscuits. I got the special - 1/2 biscuit with gravy, two pieces of bacon and one egg for $7.50. I could not finish it, it was that filling! My husband, who usually eats a lot, got the freshly made corned beef hash plate and he could not finish it! So much delicious food! He'll look at the regular menu and be okay with it, but then they'll bring out that senior menu and he's going to light right up. I stopped in for a late breakfast before a day of adventure, and it was crawling with dads (and moms, this was Mother's Day weekend) and they were loving the place. Grandma is drawing in the grandmas. As someone else so wisely said, "Try anything with their country gravy for breakfast." You're not having health food, but you'll appreciate the extra flavor. I went with a German sausage because hey, why not. It was fine. But my side was biscuits and gravy for the win. Is the gravy housemade? I dunno. But when they ran out they said it would be seven minutes until they could make new gravy, so... I tend to think there has been some offsite prepping done. No matter. You're here for loads of food. Loads of food you will have--it's pretty standard diner fare, eggs, big thick bacon, hash browns, butter, and biscuits and gravy. Came here for breakfast on a Sunday morning and had an awesome meal! My mom ordered the chicken fried steak with eggs which is slathered in gravy and she loved it. I ordered the corned beef hash with hash browns and eggs over medium. Everything is homemade and SO TASTY! Highly recommend showing up before 9am (it seemed to get busy around that time with people having to wait for tables to open up). My husband and I went there after seeing the high ratings on yelp, and we were not disappointed! We split a set a cheese and tomato omelette and got a side of sausage that was two huge patties almost as big as the hamburger patty and was excellent. Normally they put brown sugar on the sausage And melt it on the grill but I'm trying to watch my sugar so I asked for none. Were their breakfast you can choose to either get hashbrowns and toast or biscuits and gravy and we got biscuits and gravy and when they brought it out they had put it on two separate plates for us and we both ate and were full. The biscuits were really light and fluffy and the gravy was homemade and the sausage was some of the best I've ever had and we're thinking of going back again tomorrow morning :-) It's just a small little place in a small strip mall off of Highway 101 a little over 2 miles north of Seaside Oregon inside you feel like you walked into grandmas house, and the service was excellent! Y'know, I hadn't tried this place in a while and decided to stop in two weeks ago. I'm told they're under new management. For a while, I was the only diner in the place. Having grandma dithering about the place and staring at me while I ate was a bit disconcerting but my grandma used to do that when I visited her place too. My grandma also refilled my coffee and water. This grandma didn't. The scrambled eggs were fluffy and delicious. The orange juice was super tasty. The bacon was crispy and flavorful just the way I ordered it, the biscuits were fork tender and the flavor of the gravy was just above wallpaper paste. Bland. read more

Solid down-home cooking. I had breakfast on a Thursday at 10:30am ... every table was taken. I took that as a good sign. Got a table and some coffee to start. #1 favorite thing- a paper dollies places under my coffee mug. I love that simple touch. A place to rest my spoon. Coffee was good strong diner brew. I asked what they are known for - their Biscuits and gravy. Solid. So I ordered the #1. It arrived promptly and was hot. Biscuits/gravy 2 scrambled eggs and 2 links. The eggs must have been medium size cuz there wasn't much there. They were alright. The links weren't anything to write home about either. I think they were the already cooked flash frozen type. Won't do that again kind. Okay. On to the B/G! Saving grace of the whole morning. The gravy was good. Different. Nice flavor, however a bit salty. Most likely my issue. The biscuits were good. I like a pepper gravy, and this was that! While I wasn't super jazzed on my meal, I am not going to punish them. I am looking forward to checking them out next time I am at the coast. I overheard that they had/have a restaurant in Milwaukee, so I will try there as well. The couple behind me were boasting of the taste treats. We have driven by this one many times, and we both thought, why not give it a try. Checked the yelps--4.5. Excellent. The actual product was nothing like is being described here. I mean, it's sizable food, but ...well the one review states that the gravy tastes like chowder, which is true but who wants chowder on their chicken fried steak of biscuits? The hollandaise sauce should be accenting the eggs benedict. It shouldn't be buried under it. The food was bland, there was zero taste to the hashbrowns. For the life of me, I don't see what people see. Yes, it looks like your grandmother's house, but I think some of the food might be as old as her so it's not really a benefit. It was food. That I can say. The staff should also learn not to stomp as they go buy you as the floor literally gives way a bit when they do it. Not great when you are trying to eat. read more

Grandma's Corner Kitchen is one of the reasons we drive four hours to Astoria. The ambiance is like walking straight in to Grandma's house and who is there to greet you but Grandma herself!
