Big, busy restaurant with comfortable, large table by the window. Service was super fast with a very friendly blonde lady server with glasses. Wish I got her name! Kids - chicken strips were large, hot and quality. Mac and cheese is just Kraft and a cold-ish hot dog, our only miss of the night. Adults - hubby had halibut and fries, and it came with clam chowder, plus a good beer on tapHe was happy. Mine - club sandwich was LARGE and in charge.. on toasted wheat (you could also have sourdough) w/ turkey, ham, bacon, and 2 types of cheeses. The tomato and lettuce were crisp and fresh. Fries not my fave.. it's those ones you see very commonly in restaurants. Probably some big bulk chain company. Super greasy and crispy, not much potato. The wife and I had dinner here this last Saturday night. We were greeted and seated immediately, which was very nice. The atmosphere is very family friendly with a cozy vibe to it. Although there were plenty of tables available and were not very crowded. the service was pretty slow. I think they must've been shortstaffed as it seemed like there was only one waitress on duty in our section until later on. Our waitress was extremely nice and polite though. The food was really good. My wife had the fish and chips with clam chowder. The fish was lightly battered and meaty! She said it was some of the best clam chowder she's ever had. Well, very disappointing. Started off with putting some hot sauce on the shrimp from my salad and it was expired as was the other hot sauce on the table by well over a year. Wrecked the shrimp. The fish and chips had the saddest most tired fries you can ever imagine and although the Halibut pcs were beautiful pcs of fish, the batter was not great. Great happy hour menu with deals daily from 3-5 PM. I tried the clam chowder and cheeseburger with sweet potato fries. The chowder was a generous serving! At the very least they are consistent. The steamed clams are served in a bucket and you have to do a little fishing to get them out, but they were hot and hit the spot. The waitress was sweet, but did have to be reminded about the milk we had ordered with the kids meal; PB&J with fries. Wow! What happened? Just read my review from last time we were here or maybe it was the time before last. I know we were here last year but maybe I didn't do an update. My husband "always" orders the oyster stew just like he did previously. It's an always thing. The oyster stew isn't on the menu but any Doogers will do it. It was good not great. The last yelp said "amazing". Did the clam chowder change? I raved about it but this time it was very runny. It was kinda like thin milk. Wasn't totally pleased. Taste was good but definitely not something you'd come back for. I ordered the cod fish'n chips. They were good but not a lot of flavor. Oh well. Dooger's has always been our go-to place. Was walking down Broadway on my way to a different restaurant and heard a woman raving about how delicious this restaurant was so took a chance on a random persons "recommendation" and popped in for lunch. We were quickly greeted and seated in no time, off to a good start! I ordered their SST lunch, the Soup (chower), Salad and Toast. The food came quickly (great), but the chowder had a bit of oil on the top which wasn't that appealing to me. It did taste ok but was a thinner texture than I usually prefer for a chower. The salad was fine, a standard salad, unfortunately the shrimp were flavorless but I suppose bay shrimp usually don't have a lot of flavor going on. And the toast was toast. I am glad I had it to soak up the runny chowder. Overall the service was quick and everyone was friendly. Do I agree with the random lady on the street saying the food is delicious? We were looking for a place to get fresh seafood and this was definitely a mess for that- the only positive was the kids menu had big portions of calamari strips and french fries for around 10 bucks.. for $40 more you can get a couple small chunks of dry deep-fried crab and greasy razor clams, oh, and a wimpy salad topped with a couple bay shrimp. Our server was not good and really just seemed like he didn't want to be there that evening. Got a couple things in our order wrong or never came. When I moved to Seaside in the early 1990s, Doogers had a sticker in the window with a bird's head and the international no slash across it. No bird brains? I couldn't figure it out. Then it dawned on me: no puffin. Doogers was one of the first restaurants in Oregon to ban smoking. While they had a no-smoking section, smoke wafted across the floor and those guests were enveloped in smoke just like the rest of their customers. In a convention town, it was brave of them to enforce the new rule. I had friends that came to Seaside every summer and we ate at Dooger's. They were chain smokers and I was worried they wouldn't want to eat there any longer. They loved the food so much they were willing to go without a smoke for an hour and a half or so. I love clam chowder -- as long as there's no tomatoes in it. The creamy offering at Dooger's was the first time, though, I'd had runny clam chowder. It took a while to get used to it. But it's so packed with clams and potatoes that it's one of the best clam chowders I've ever eaten. The fish and chips are excellent. Service is always attentive and friendly. The Wiese family has done a wonderful job of maintaining their high standards since the restaurant first opened in 1983. And although I haven't lived in Seaside in 30 years, I always enjoy coming back to Doogers. read more

Dooger's came recommended, but unfortunately didn't do it for us. The gentleman who sat us was nice and friendly. Our server Cristina came by and took our drink order, we stuck to water, soda and my hubby had a beer. We started off with steamer clams and oyster shooters. The clams were very fishy tasting and not very flavorful. They came in some vegetable broth with chunks of tomato, onion and celery. These were accompanied by 4 pieces of garlic bread and a cup of melted butter. I want to say a quarter of the clam shells had no clams, the broth didn't balance the fishy taste, they were not good and lacked flavor. The oyster shooters came in a shot glass with nothing other than cocktail sauce and a small lemon wedge. The only good thing about the shooter is that the oyster was huge, but nothing about being able to take it like a shot. The better two entrees were the calamari and the halibut fish and chips. The tartar sauce was really good. The clam chowder was flavorful but very watery, not thick like I've had it before. I ordered the halibut mango ceviche and it was pretty disappointing. The mango was not ripe because it was unflavored, the ceviche was bland, no flavor whatsoever. Lastly, my son ordered Cajun crab legs. Welp, there were no crab legs in sight other than the crab meat and I'm talking 6 little pieces dipped in Cajun seasoned butter. Of course this was charged at MP, $56 for 6 tiny crab meat pieces which I highly doubt were fresh. We couldn't get out of there fast enough. The pasta dinner came with a salad OR soup and then a pretty good slice of toast! Drinks- beer, margarita and a Shirley temple... they were all pretty great except the margarita wasn't that great. It was more martini. Service- we had pretty fast service. The service was was professional however she seemed more preoccupied- was just prompt with getting the order, drinks and leaving the table pretty quick. Dessert- chocolate cake, peanut butter pie and then the strawberry cheese cream pie. They were all good the portions though for pie just seemed super small. The chocolate cake was pretty large. It was delicious (this is not dairy free). We also had fish and chips. The chips were sweet potato because the French fries were not gluten free. I loved the sweet potato fries! They were cooked perfect. We got the cod. It was mixed with paprika (just a warning). I had to eat the middle, just a taste. It seemed very dry. My family thinks the breading was good but the fish was too dry. Maybe next time we can try another type of fish. The waitress was very knowledgeable and didn't make us feel bad at all, in fact, she understood. It was 46 dollars for two gluten free fish and chips (comes with the chowder). This was a really disappointing experience. I went there for lunch with an old friend who really wanted seafood. We hadn't been there in years and I've always had good food there. We were greeted by two teenagers/early 20's buddies at the host station. These two were joined at the hip, which was odd as I'm pretty sure they had two different jobs. I noticed them buddying around, lightly horsing around in the background as we had lunch. The music was a bit loud as well, difficult to have a quiet conversation. The waitress was heavily pregnant and being shadowed by her eventual replacement waitress. Both were professional and did their jobs well. Unfortunately the food was another story. I ordered crab cakes with sweet potato fries and iced tea. My friend ordered the oysters. I was really looking forward to some good crab cakes. They were quite the disappointment. I'm quite sure my entire plate came frozen from Cisco or another frozen food processor. They crab cakes were perfectly round, flat as a pancake, about a quarter inch thick and full of filler, no lump meat was to be seen, such a shame. There was nothing special about the fries, I'm sure they were from frozen. My friend didn't say anything, but she barely touched her oysters. They didn't look good to me at all. My iced tea was horrible, definitely not freshly brewed. I only took a few sips, then stuck to the water. It's sad what has become of Dooger's. I used to go there all the time with my parents who absolutely loved good seafood. I know they would have been disappointed as well. It seems Dooger's is in a death spiral and trying to get out of it with frozen food and cheap labor. That's exactly the wrong thing to do. My husband, our young daughter, and I dined at Dooger's last night. Our server, Sandee, was kind, professional, and absolutely phenomenal. However, our experience was overshadowed by the manager's unprofessional behavior. Shortly after Sandee took our drink order, the manager approached our table and asked if Sandee had put it in, adding that we should "better pray" she actually entered it into the system. I found this to be an incredibly inappropriate comment to make about an employee in front of customers. As he walked back toward the kitchen, he also slapped another employee on the butt in plain view of several diners. Later, I asked Sandee to call the manager over so I could compliment her excellent service. When he arrived, it was immediately clear that he was extremely intoxicated--his speech was slurred, his eyes were glazed over, and he had trouble maintaining his balance. While the food was fine, the unprofessional and concerning behavior of the manager left a bad impression. I was especially disappointed by how Sandee was treated and, unfortunately, we are unlikely to return. read more

When coming to Seaside, I always have to stop here in recognition of my mom who loved the salad with the shrimp and raspberry vinaigrette salad dressing. I also had the halibut fish and chips for lunch. The fries were great. The fish was good as well but very small portions. I received two pieces that were 2" x 2" and that was it. First off the waitress was very lovely. The food was honestly laughable. Crab cakes that were flat and tasted of old oil. We also asked for the clam chowder which was flavorless and the crab in it tasted gummy. For our entree we ordered the Admirals seafood plate which was to include some things like calamari, crab legs, salmon, scallops, and prawns. I kid you not the portion of crab was not even a full leg. Two bites worth of crab. Seemed like the meat was pulled from the claw part. The salmon that came with the dish was a small square.
