I have heard amazing things about Grann, and loved their small bite at Taste WA. It was about time for us to try! I loved the appetizers. The watermelon salad was so good and balanced. The cornbread was the star of the show. Exceptional!!! The butter it came with? Out of this world. I wasn't a fan of the entree and that was partially my fault. I didn't specify how I wanted my steak cooked, and for me, it was undercooked. I should have gotten the chicken, and would like to try it next time I go. I also hope they bring back the Mac and cheese, so I can try that as well! My husband got the lamb and liked it, it was a bit undercooked for him and he prefers it to have more crusting. Overall, we would love to return! Our server was so attentive and sweet. Good service truly makes all the difference.

Sweet Potato Cornbread was so good. The service was very. The atmosphere was cozy. We met another couple sitting next to us and we traded secrets on the meals we ate.

Ambiance: The big open windows provided natural lighting. Though it was busy, it was easy to have a conversation without needing to shout. The spacing between tables was adequate and provided an intimate setting. The decor was everything. I love the bright pops of color. It had an industrial feel but also bright and cheery vibe. I couldn't stop raving about the textures. The service was excellent, made reservations online and we were seated promptly. Very friendly staff and gave excellent recommendations. Food: I typically shy away from fusion cuisine because it lacks authenticity and flavor. But Grann Restaurant delivered. The fusion of African American bbq and Indian dishes melded perfectly! Each dish was familiar yet uniquely different. The flavors are BOLD and bright. Loved all the dishes we ordered. (Curry Caesar, Shirley's Chicken and Pork Belly Sandwich.

Grann is ok. It's a little loud but service is pretty good. I felt like it was overpriced Indian food plus collard greens, but I like the idea of the restaurant - maybe we just ordered poorly. No wait on a Wednesday, the restaurant had other diners but it wasn't too busy either. We tried to order palak scallops but were told it wasn't ready yet, we also ordered Rogan Josh (lamb) and malai gobi curry, along with starters/sides chips and chutney and collards. I guess the chips and collards were southern and the rest was Indian influence? Malai gobi curry was not very good, definitely a poor ordering choice on our part. The Rogan Josh was delicious. I liked the collards and the chips and chutney. Chips n chutney reminded me of something you'd get at an Indian restaurant except for the barbecue ruffles topping the dish. While dining, the server mentioned we could order the scallops after all, but by then we already committed to the other dishes, so didn't get to try. I wished there was the fish and grits they had awhile ago, or maybe did the Rogan Josh with grits? Is it weird I think "with grits" makes it fusion? Anyway, I probably won't go back, but it's a nice idea.

From start to finish our dining experience at Grann Restaurant was wonderful! The entire Grann team takes pride in providing excellent customer service and delivering a culinary experience with the rotating menu. The owners/head chefs Jacob and Denzel are extremely personable they make sure to greet and connect with every seated guest. Be sure to book your reservation in advance especially for larger parties of 4 or more. Grann is vibrant, and offers exciting dishes with unexpected delicious flavors all while offering a very relaxed atmosphere. My family and I really enjoyed our Grann experience and have already planned to return again for the next featured menu; I highly recommend!

My brother recommended we try this spot out. He's friends with the owners and chef. It's located in Tacoma, in the hot spot off 6th, amidst other popular restaurants, especially for a weekend. Parking is tough but the parking in front of the bank next to Asado's is a $5 fee and a short walk away. It was buzzing as soon as we walked in. The seating is one where you are seated close, next to others. Family style. Helps with meeting new people. They are the bar height tables which I'm not a fan of because I'm short. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Once the food came out, we were ready. We had the coconut greens. They were tender and flavorful it was different from what I'm familiar to but delicious nonetheless. Next were the green bean pakoras. I loved it. My only thing is that there was so much batter it almost overtook the beans. The beef kabobs were DELISH, tender and flavorful. For entrees, we decided to share because that was a lot of food. Lamb chops was the entree of choice. It came with cheesy grits. The grits were a bit watery for me but the flavors were amazing. I love their seasonal menus they come out with. Gives me a reason to come back. It was a great pre funk to our comedy date night. We shall return. Thank you Grann restaurant (Jacob and Denzel)

I can't remember the name of this drink but it was so good!

From the moment we walked in you could feel the warmth in the room. We sat in between two couples and they felt like family! We all were sharing the tea to each other about each dish we ordered. The service was amazing never had to track anyone down they continuously checked on us.

Grann is a very trendy spot, it has an open kitchen concept and a large communal table that runs the center of the restaurant. They play loud music and it has a general atmosphere of a cocktail/ boozy dinner spot. The menu rotates seasonally, it is a mix of American and Indian cuisine. We really like the Rogan Josh and the collard greens. The cauliflower dish we tried was fairly bland and I wouldn't order it again. I really liked the espresso tonic, as far as I know this is the only spot in Tacoma that offers them ( if you know of another spot message me and let me know!). I thought the service here was very friendly and we enjoyed our experience. The food was relatively quick to come out. The music was a little too loud for what I want in a restaurant but I think that's more about my preference and a lot of people would like that.

When you walk in the dim setting with music and the lighting is just a vibe on its own. The service was very friendly and attentive. Our waitress was helpful when it came to explaining items we had questions for. And don't get me started ex on the food. This menu rotates as the seasons change but when I say the meals from this menu were full of flavor explosions like you have never witnessed before. I got the red snapper which I've always wanted to try and it was everything I expected it to be.. wish it was in the menu permanently. Hoping it comes back! This menu was careful curated and you can tell these guys love what they do. New favorite

I have a new 6th Ave favorite (no shade to the nearby restaurant), but from Iker's cocktails to the best greens I've had since I left the Midwest (damn!) this place hits it on all cylinders! Even met the chef!

My girlfriend and I had an amazing experience at Grann. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed with genuine warmth and outstanding service. The staff was attentive, friendly, and made us feel right at home. The food was absolutely incredible--fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with love. Every bite reminded me why good home-style cooking will never go out of style. You can tell real pride and passion goes into everything they serve. The atmosphere was just as great as the food: clean, comfortable, and full of positive energy. It's the kind of place that makes you want to come back again and again. This Black-owned business is doing things the right way--great food, great people, and great service. We were truly blown away and will definitely be returning. Highly recommend.

What a wonderful restaurant in our city. The food here is incredible, and it is an honor to have something that stands out in culinary taste and presentation in Tacoma. As sad as I am that the table has been replaced, something great has started its journey and is continuing to shine in the community. We went here for our book club meeting, and dinner was impeccable. I ordered the Mac and cheese, butter chicken agnolotti, bbq fish, baked beans, and greens. When I took my first bite of the greens I was very moved and had an emotional memory, there is a connection I felt when I ate that dish with my own godfather's famous greens. That's for another story, but we loved the baked beans- so flavorful and delicious. Our main dishes were a 11/10. I cannot wait to come back to this restaurant, chef you outdid yourself! Thank you for taking a chance in Tacoma.

We had a great time meeting up with friends and meeting the owner! All the servers and hosts were great and the ambiance is very lively (loud but not in a bad way). I wasn't a huge fan of the food, however, as maybe I had high expectations after looking at the fusion of flavors and was just imagining something different. It's not that the food wasn't good, it was great! But I didn't feel there was anything special from the Indian flavor profile. For example, the beef biryani had tiny bits of shredded beef, the Mac n cheese tasted like a good regular Mac without the Indian twist, the gulab juman beignets tasted like normal traditional flavors instead of the Indian sweet it was described to taste like. The drinks were ok. Non-alcoholic Mango lassi was watered down, the tamarind cocktail had no tamarind taste at all... Overall, it's a great place and wonderful service! But I personally wouldn't go again for the food.

It grilled perfectly. I am not sure if the kimchi was vegetarian or not, I eat fish so I didn't check. My kids got the hot beef broth and liked it. There are many noodle options, including ramen, which the kids liked. They also enjoyed the brisket. The restaurant was clean and comfortable. Staff was friendly and checked on us a few times. How it works: Select your tier ($35/$45/$55). The whole table needs to be on the same tier. Pick two broths. Select five meat/seafood/tofu/noodle options to start. Go to the self serve area and get your veggies. Go to the self serve sauce bar and make up your dipping sauce. Cook your food. Value: three people, with soda/tea was $135 and I tipped $15. We got the first tier only. Hot food like egg rolls and pot stickers are extra and we didn't get any. Soft serve ice cream and cookies are included at no extra charge. I appreciate the pricing model but I found it expensive. This is more than we spend on sushi.

And if you want something a little fancier, they do have mocktails at $8. I spent $185 including tip and taxes for 3 people. The set up is nice as you can grill and have soup on the next grill. They do have a few booths and then some tables. But if youre a larger party, you might get split up if they're busy. I'd recommend reservations if you have a large party. But getting to the food. For the Hotspot portion, you can pick 2 broths and its set up in a yingyang formatted pot. Then you go to the "buffet line" to get your veggies, meats and etc. They do have some hot foods like chicken wings and some type of fried roll. Hotspot was just okay. I was hoping for more flavor. The kbbq was just okay too. But one thing to keep in mind, this spot does not have the exhaust pipes/hood like they do at kbbq to help with the air, so prepare to smell. Leave your fancy/dry cleaning clothes at home. When my friends and I went, it got pretty hot inside, and there was only a box fan. So being next to a grill and no A/C made it more hot and uncomfortable. Maybe its changed now hopefully. The staff was nice and service was decent. Oh, and they do have an ice cream machine, so that's what made this spot like a 3.5 out of 5.

There weren't many people there when we arrived, but the restaurant filled up pretty quickly after we sat down. The staff was one of the highlights of our visit. Everyone was super friendly and patient while we looked over the menu. I especially appreciated the gentleman slicing the meat--he would cut a portion, show it to us, and ask if that looked good before finishing. It was a nice touch that made ordering by weight feel much easier, although the standard portions were already very generous. My husband had the chicken, we shared a jalapeño cheddar sausage, and I ordered the brisket. I was honestly surprised they still had brisket available because it was excellent. We both had the mac and cheese, shared the potato salad, and everything was really good. We also ordered the fried pickles, which were brought out to our table a little later. They were crispy and tasty, but I do think they'd really benefit from a dipping sauce. The restaurant itself was clean, casual, and easy to navigate with the self-serve drink station. I also grabbed a brownie because it looked amazing, but unfortunately that was the only disappointment of the meal. It was more like chocolate cake than a rich, fudgy brownie, so it didn't quite satisfy my sweet tooth. Overall, we'd definitely come back. The couple next to us ordered pulled pork sandwiches that looked incredible, so that's probably what I'll be trying next time. Great barbecue, friendly service, and a comfortable atmosphere--I'd happily recommend giving them a try.
