Fantastic food, the fish and chips were perfect, and reasonably priced. The summer salad with salmon added was a little expensive but the wife enjoyed it so that's what matters. Service was a little slow, but they were kinda busy so I get it. Will definitely be back for more oysters and fish, yum!

The seafood dip is a must order! My husband and I started our meal off with the seafood dip appetizer which I highly recommend. It's creamy, cheesy, and has a decadent seafood flavor which comes with toasted bread to dip or scoop it in. He ordered the fish and chips, 3 piece halibut with fries, and I had the coconut prawns which came with coleslaw and fries on the side. The coconut prawns were perfect crispy and came with a sort of sweet honey mustard like sauce on the side. The portions were good, 8 medium pieces of prawns plus the fries. I didn't particularly like the coleslaw, it wasn't on the fresh side. The staff were friendly and attentive. They have Seattle soda on their fountain which I like a local pop. They have a handful of TVs inside playing sports, and they have regular booth, table, and bar seating. It's located by the water, sort of in a backstreet industrial area by it has a large parking lot that also leads to a waterfront walking strip.

My broad loves seafood and I had been wanting to try this place, and I'm glad we did! Sweet location near the water in downtown T-Town. I had the Cioppino and she had the Steamed Mussels. Both were great, the tomato broth in the Cioppino was particularly fantastic. I will be back I'm sure!

The ambience was great and service was good. We started with the calamari which was good. I ordered the fish and chips which wasn't anything spectacular but the salmon sandwich was delicious!!

They were very accommodating and allowed us to sit with a group of 11 without prior notice. The clam chowder was good and their cocktails were all great! The service was adequate and I'd go back for the views.

Mussels - so good!! Our favorite thing we tried on the new menu

The new menu is good We loved the mussels and shared the halibut & chips, which were very tasty (needed a touch more salt) but so great to sit outside and have a view! I do think the new menu is a game changer and we will back for sure. Absolutely recommend to give it a try!!! Thank you Kat for your amazing service- appreciate you!!!

My Sagittarius sisters brought me here to celebrate my birthday, and it was such a great choice. I don't know if it was the timing or the terrible weather outside, but there was literally no wait. We walked right in and were seated immediately, which was honestly amazing. One of my friends ordered the Dungeness crab and shrimp Louie salad, and it looked really good. She said it was delicious and the portion size was generous. I was really craving soup, so I went with the blackened salmon BLT and a cup of chowder. The chowder was so good. The salmon was tasty too -- it did have a slightly fishy taste, but nothing that ruined it for me. Another friend ordered the cioppino, which is more of a stew, and it was really good. She let all of us try it, and it had a great flavor and a nice-sized portion. What really stood out was that it wasn't cream-based, which was perfect because she has a pretty extreme lactose intolerance. It's not always easy for her to find menu options like that, so this was a really nice surprise. Overall, the food, service, and experience were great, and it made for an awesome birthday dinner. I'd definitely come back again.

Was staying nearby for a concert for the weekend and this place was so solid, I took my friends and went a second time the next day lol Between the two visits, I tried - clam chowder - super solid, got this two days in a row lol - salad + grilled chicken - tasted fine I just needed some vegetables - green bean tempura - the half order was so big and the green beans were actually pretty good - nachos - also surprisingly large portion, decent - lobster Mac and cheese - nice and creamy, would eat again Servers were friendly, space is large. It's right by the water so it's nice to walk along the water for a digestion walk afterwards!

Bar is just inside the entry.

How can you go wrong sitting on the patio overlooking the bay on a perfect evening! This spot is a Gem for sure! Food is Amazing! Service is Amazing! Prices are nominal and the freshness was outstanding.

Forgot to take picture of the food as we took our food to go, but we got mac & cheese and clam chowder and would have to say the service was good even though I did call in the order he denied to make it in advance even though I told him I was less than five minutes away, but the food was amazing ambience a little cold and clammy in there not too intimate, but customer service was great ambience. It's a great if you want the view, but the staff was friendly. I just wish that the manager would have made my order to go so I wouldn't have had to come in and wait.

Drinks & Food are pricey, but delicious. Service was relaxed and professional. Sat outside and watched the boats sail by. - Spicy mango margaritas -A - Calamari-A (really fresh, soft, perfectly cooked) - Seafood medley with Artichokes dip with fresh warm loaf.- A -Catfish special with veggies & mashed potatoes. -A -Shrimp & crab Louie salad -B Total $150 before tip. All in the food was delicious and the service was attentive. Highly recommend. Only negative... when arrived with over half the restaurant empty... they play a game of we can't seat you yet. Put on wait list 10-15 min, suggesting go to the bar and have drinks. We were a party of two but only 1 chair and not a comfortable situation. This was very irritating. We came in from a long drive, just wanted to sit down & eat dinner. We did later order a drink, and it was very tasty, but the extra milking on arrival was distasteful. Sharine

The food was so yummy. I really enjoyed the heartiness of the stew. My son enjoyed his fish and chips. The service was good, no complaints. The restaurant itself is cozy and quaint, a smaller feel that reminds me of mom and pop places back home in RI.

The restaurant itself is beautiful, modern, clean and has an amazing view of the water. It was prom season, so the restaurant was pretty busy. Cassie, the bartender was gracious and ambidextrous to boot! Mixes a lovely margarita. I had a Bodi! Seated at 4:15pm on the patio (we lucked out they had an opening). It is a delightful patio. I forgot to take some photos which I normally do. Started out with oysters on 1/2 shell - wow. Gotta get 'em! The Lobster Dip with bread was next and it really peaked my appetite- I was ready for the main dishes! I had the Cajun Seafood Pasta - loved it and it had just enough spice to make the shrimp and lobster tasty and stand out. I also had the Brussels Sprouts - my new thing. These are exceptionally good. Too full for desert but there are a lot of options for later downtown Point Ruston. I just wish I had come for a visit sooner. We are going to be regulars! The $40 lobster roll was good and packed with a lot of lobster meat, although the butter on the bread was a little overpowering and made it harder to taste the lobster itself. The shoestring fries were absolutely delicious though. The lobster bisque was tasty and comforting, but slightly too salty for our preference. They also had a nice selection of beers on tap and wine to choose from. One of the highlights of the meal was the ahi tuna nachos special -- they were absolutely scrumptious. Service was also very friendly, everyone was helpful. However the main hostess, (dark hair gal, little short with glasses) was not friendly to the staff or guests. You can see people interacting with her being uncomfortable afterwards. Overall, a great spot for the view, seafood, and atmosphere.

Back before it was sold, my dad would come in, sit at the table, and instantly a Manhattan was placed in front of him. That wonderful, old-type service. The new owners have been around for a while and did a wonderful refresh on the property. They kept a lot of the household favorites on the menu -- mine being the shucked and sautéed crab legs. Extremely decadent and pricey, but well worth it. Anytime you're wanting to come for a birthday or a special event, I highly recommend this dish. If you're coming by yourself or just as a table of two, try getting a table in the bar. It's intimate and cozy, and probably only seats 20 people. I live out of state now, but I make this a priority whenever I'm back in beautiful Washington State. Definitely a Tacoma institution.

I've been coming to Harbor Lights for years--mainly for what used to be my all-time favorite shrimp…read morecocktail and to check out their special fruit drinks. Today was supposed to be a quick, light stop after work: shrimp cocktail, a couple drinks, and some time in the old Harbor Lights bar. Walking in, I was immediately reminded of one of my biggest frustrations with this space. Yes, it's small--but the outdated tables and chairs make it far too easy for people to block the walkways. And when those walkways are filled with loud, inappropriate, "stuck-in-1976" commentary from intoxicated older men acting like they're still in their 20s, it makes navigating the room even more uncomfortable. At one point, we were stuck sitting there listening to them loudly joke about having female urologists and proctologists--one word: GROSS. Speaking up doesn't feel like a safe or worthwhile option--it just escalates things. The bar could absolutely keep its charm while still evolving into a more comfortable, modern, and inclusive space. Then there's the menu situation--multiple menus stacked in front of you like a paper shuffle. It's unnecessary and could easily be streamlined. Now, the drinks... this is where things really fell off. Harbor Lights used to be known for strong drinks--that reputation feels long gone. I ordered a vodka-based drink and it went down like juice--no taste, no kick, nothing. When I asked for a double on the second round, the bartender laughed and said all their drinks are doubles and that they don't measure, claiming there was 2 1/2 oz of liquor in it. We watched him make it: no measuring, just a free pour over ice, stopping well short of the top, then filling it with rhubarb-strawberry purée. When it arrived, it felt more dropped on the table than served. I gave it a fair shot--a big sip--and again... no vodka taste whatsoever. No burn, no effect. I know my liquor, and this didn't add up. It really makes you question what's actually being poured. And then... the shrimp cocktail. How do you mess this up? This was the one thing I could always count on. It's always been unique and consistently good--but this time? Way too much horseradish. Completely threw off the balance. I still ate it, but it was not the same experience at all. Overall, this visit was disappointing. Between the uncomfortable atmosphere, lackluster drinks, and a once-reliable favorite falling short, Harbor Lights just isn't what it used to be.

A lot of what I'm going to mention isn't a big deal, but all of it together added up to less than what I would have hoped for. We recently had dinner at Stanley's for a special occasion and, unfortunately, it was a pretty mixed experience. Right off the bat, we waited about 15-20 minutes past our reservation time to be seated. Not the end of the world, but when they sat us, we were told they couldn't use a high chair at that table and that there weren't any other tables available. We have a two-year-old, and while they offered a booster seat instead, it wasn't a safe or practical substitute for her. I tried to make it work, but quickly realized I was going to spend the entire meal using one arm to keep her seated and safe. When I asked again about a high chair, I was told it still wasn't possible at that table, but now they could move us to a different (and honestly better) table where a high chair could be used. After that, little things just kept adding up. There was a long wait for drinks, another wait before our orders were taken, and my dad had to ask three times for butter for the bread basket. The food itself was good. Their prime rib is always excellent, and I enjoyed my black cod, though the couscous wasn't particularly memorable. What gave me pause was when our server specifically asked my husband how the temperature of his meal was. At the time I thought it was an unusual question, but later he told me the food was actually close to room temperature when it arrived. We ordered dessert, and my dad really enjoyed the bread pudding. My husband liked the molten lava cake, but when I tried a bite, it wasn't warm, which feels like the whole point of a molten lava cake. We also ordered cappuccinos with dessert, and they never arrived. I'm not saying Stanley's is a bad restaurant. In fact, that's why I'm taking the time to write this. If this had been a chain restaurant, I probably wouldn't bother. But when you're paying for a nicer dining experience, I think it's reasonable to expect attentive service, accommodations for young children, and food that arrives at the proper temperature. I understand they were busy, and there was a large party happening that evening. Still, we were paying customers too. We don't get to splurge on meals like this very often, and the overall experience felt like a bit of a letdown.
