Crawfish Island in Federal Way is definitely worth a visit, and I'm happy to give this place five stars. We stopped by during their happy hour, which runs Monday through Friday from 11 AM to 4 PM, and enjoyed the discounted seafood and drink specials. Our server, Sarah, was friendly, attentive, and very helpful. She explained the different crawfish and seafood boil options and made recommendations based on what we were looking for. We followed her suggestion and chose one of the combo options, and it turned out to be a great choice. The seafood boil was flavorful, fresh, and satisfying. Sarah did an excellent job making sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. I also appreciated that although the rice is served in a paper bowl, the restaurant provides ceramic plates and metal utensils, which makes the dining experience feel more comfortable and enjoyable. A couple of small things could be improved. Unlike some other seafood restaurants, there are no complimentary soft drinks when your bill reaches a certain amount, even if you are dining as a group. Since many places offer a couple of free drinks for larger orders, that would be a nice addition. Overall, though, the quality of the food, friendly service, and great recommendations from Sarah made our visit a very positive experience. We'll definitely be coming back. read more

This is my second visit and honestly I'm pretty disappointed. The service was subpar and the food itself was very different from the first time I was here. The food: I got the Combo A, The crawfish was mushy and tasted spoiled? I'm not sure how to describe it but 5/12 crawfish I had were inedible. The shrimps were decent thankfully. The clams were SO slimy. I swear I've had clams before and as a shellfish enjoyer, I don't think clams should be that texture when it's cooked... Overall just not great. This place is a hidden gem that specializes in seafood boil. I love that they provide gloves, bib, and hand towelettes for us eat lol. We got their popular combo S which came with 1/2 lb of snow crab, crawfish, head-on shrimps, mussels, scallops, 1 lobster tail, sausages, potatoes, and boiled eggs for ~$108. I thought this was a perfect combo for 4 ppl bc it was a good ratio and came with a variety of seafood. Highly recommend the island house sauce. It's sooo good! There's so much garlic butter flavor mixed with their special seasoning. We also got the island house sauce chicken wings and those were delicious too. The wings were crispy hot and huge. Our waitress said they're the same sauce but tastes very different because of the different cooking style for each dish. Garlic noodles were delicious, lots of garlic butter flavoring. A good seafood boil restaurant to try! We had their Combo B which included snow crab, shrimp, corn and potato ($61). The food was so good! The sauce was extremely flavorful and tasty. I was pretty impressed by it. The snow crab and shrimp were fulfilling and I'd say the combo is enough for two people! Seafood boil for $61 for two people is a good deal. We also had their garlic noodles with shrimp. The garlic noodles were interesting. It wasn't exactly great. It felt a bit overcooked for me. The shrimp with it was cooked well and there was a decent amount of it. The service was good. The server was nice and helpful and answered any questions we had. The food didn't take too long to make. Ours son bday request for lunch! It was our first time and there was 10 of us (4 little kids under 3) All of our food was very delicious We ordered a few different things! The portions were great, the flavors were perfect. Cost was normal I guess, I don't know I always expect to spend $100-$150 at these places. The drinks were good! They gave my son a bday cheesecake! We will definitely be back because our meals were really good. We will probably come back without our kids unless it's a special occasion. We got 1 crab boil I think it's was like $69 that can feed 2 kids or 1 adult depending, water, 1 tea and my husband got noodles. Our bill was like $180.00 with gratuity. I didn't eat because i am fasting. So it was 3 of us that only ate, we have 2 older kids that didn't come so I would assume it would be like $300+ if all 6 of us actually ate. I would check the gratuity too because I think I've only been to 1 other restaurant that charges gratuity for 6 + people so I wouldn't want to pay that just because I have 4 kids. *one thing that was new for me at a place like this was the gratuity. $25-$30 extra added per check (3 separate checks) Was a lot of money to me for a casual crab boil restaurant. Service was good. There was 1 server at the time for all the tables. This is just little info I like to know when eating. The strawberry lemonade was so sweet and tasty. I created my boil with snow crab and jumbo scallops in their house sauce on a level 2 spice. All my seafood was cooked perfectly and the spice built as I ate. My daughter had the lobster tail and garlic noodles (these noodles are a required item! They are soooooo good!). The lobster tail was good sized, perfectly cooked and not chewy. We also got a catfish basket with regular fries that was fried to perfection. I have no notes. Crawfish Island is my go to spot for seafood boils. I usually order Combo B with the Island House sauce, spice level hot, and add an extra pound of crawfish. Always satisfying. The food comes out super fast and tastes fresh, with no fishy smell or aftertaste, which I really appreciate. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because the customer service can be inconsistent, and the spice level isn't always the same. Sometimes "hot" is perfect, other times it can be really spicy haha. Still, good spot if you're craving a seafood boil and want something quick and flavorful. I'll definitely keep coming back. It's our very first time here and we have a pretty good experience. The kids enjoyed the Cajun fries and garlic noodle. We got combo S which has a bit of everything . I really do like how we could switch the crawfish for something else and we got the green muscles instead. We had a great server and the place is pretty busy for almost closing time too. However, I did deduct one star because towards the end I did notice small hair Probably around one centimeter long it could pass as someone's eyebrows or beard. I know it wasn't mine, but it's so small to start a big argument. I know no one is perfect but that could have definitely threw someone's day off . I'm glad that my daughter chose Crawfish Island for their seafood boil. For a group of 6 people, we ended up ordering a combo A and 2 orders of combo B. The sauce type we ordered was the island house sauce and spice level was mild for all 3 combos. I think we could've gone up a spice level, because the mild wasn't spicy at all. We only ordered the mild because not everyone at our table could eat spicy and they actually said they didn't taste anything spicy, too. We also ordered the garlic noodles with shrimp. That was good, and the shrimps are on the larger side! Yummy! Our server was friendly and checked on us every so often to make sure we were okay and if there was anything else we might need. As for the restaurant, the location was not far from where we live. It's a nice chill place to eat, but I would've liked a larger table instead of feeling crammed. Oh, the other thing. This is an update to my previous review. We weren't thrilled the first time with the boil so opted to try one of their baskets. I has the calamari basket and my husband had the shrimp tempura basket. Each had 10 pieces of fish and a huge portion of fries with the option to have sweet potato fries if you wanted them. Also have a choice of sauce and we opted for their house sauce which is really good. The fish was cooked perfectly and very tasty. Not only that but the price is certainly affordable. With two baskets, two drinks, one of which was wine, and a tip the bill was around $50 which is certainly better than a lot of places where you get less food for more. This is one of the best seafood boils I have had in Washington. The potatoes are huge, the serving size is way more than expected. Made me wonder if I'm getting the right amount at other places hahaha I got the snow crab and shrimp combo and a side of garlic noodles. Wanted to update my review. The last time I came a little bit over a year ago wasn't as good as this second time I came. I got the green mussels in the Island House Sauce, and the flavor was better this time. Not extra sweet, and a better, thicker sauce. The only negative thing for me was that I got it Extra Hot, but I didn't taste any spiciness at all. Everything we tried was good; no one had any complaints. The tots and fries were crispy. This business is so poorly organized, the food is decent for the price but they do not track their reservations accordingly. I had booked a reservation on their webpage and when I had walked in they had no clue even though they asked if I had a reservation. They wrote my name down 5min (which the page was just a bunch of scribbles no consistency) before my set time and instead of holding tables for those whom had reservations they had been seating walk in customers. After a couple walked in and the lady working the front walked them to a table right in front of us we had ended up leaving. I ordered the spiciest level but it wasn't really spicy at all, so I'll see if I can ask for even more spice. Additionally, in comparison to other seafood boils spots, I'd definitely go elsewhere. However, my boyfriend really enjoyed his fried rice and it came with plenty of different seafood. The space is pretty clean and spacious, accommodating big or small gatherings. They also had cute Christmas décor around the store. I placed a to-go order on the phone for Combo A and asked if I could substitute the 1 lb of crawfish for 1 pound of mussels instead. The lady on the phone was super nice and said they could accommodate that. I showed up and picked up my order and the waitress and the waiter were very nice and friendly. There is plenty of parking in the shopping center. The interior is renovated and is open and clean. They even have a bar if you want some drinks. For those of you familiar with seafood broil places, they season your seafood with your choice of seasoning, you use your bare hands (w/plastic gloves) to eat, and you throw the shells on the table, kind of place. Hence, the parchment paper on the tables, which hopefully answers a previous yelpers comment of why is there parchment paper on the tables. I got the Island House Sauce which is a combo of their flavors mixed together. It tasted kind of on the sweet side which surprised me since I was expecting more salty and savory. Nonetheless, it was good. The shrimps were large and were tasty. The mussels and the clams were also great. It's exactly what I expected from a seafood broil place. The prices are very reasonable as seafood and seafood broil places are similar around this area.
