So you can imagine how happy I was when they decided to open a love bird in Winter Haven just a few miles from my permanent office. I think this location is even better than the Lakeland location because it is a little bigger than the parking lot is much better. They still have that absolutely fabulous crispy fried chicken that is so delicious. I love that you can cater it to your personal spice level. I like mine medium, but my mom prefers hers with no spice. Their fried chicken stays crispy even when it gets cold. Sometimes I'll go and grab myself some lunch while I'm at work and then get some fried chicken to take home to my husband for dinner and it's still crispy and juicy and fabulous. I also love that they have a meal that was invented for me. My favorite thing to order is called, The my girl ain't hungry. It consists of one giant chicken, tender in your choice of fried or grilled with a side and a drink for eight dollars. It is the perfect portion for me. I hate leaving negative reviews and rarely do, but management needs to be aware of what happened. To make things easier, I placed an online order for curbside pickup with a scheduled pickup time of 9:15 p.m. I arrived at 9:10 p.m., parked in the curbside area, checked in through the app, and waited. The curbside area is very dark and poorly lit, but I was able to find the sign. After waiting about 10 minutes, I noticed the drive-thru was busy, so I waited a few more minutes. I then thought maybe curbside service ended after a certain time, so I pulled into the drive-thru to ask. When I reached the window, I told the employee that I'd been waiting about 15 minutes and wanted to make sure I was supposed to be at curbside. I also asked if she could simply check whether my order had gone through in case there had been an internet issue, app glitch, or payment problem. Her only response was, "You have to go to curbside." She never asked for my name, never looked at the computer, and never attempted to verify my order. We went back and forth for nearly 10 minutes, and despite several other employees standing nearby, no one stepped in to help. Finally, I gave up and drove back to the curbside spot. Within moments, one of those same employees walked out with my order. So that means: * My order had been there the entire time. * It was ready while I was sitting in the drive-thru trying to get someone to help me. * Instead of simply saying, "I see your order--we'll bring it right out," they chose to argue with me. When I got home, the experience only got worse. I spent over $50 on dinner for my family, and the food was disappointing. The burgers and fries were cold, one burger was made incorrectly, and while two burgers were packaged in boxes, the third was carelessly stuffed into a wrapper and smashed in the bag. Mistakes happen, but poor customer service and a complete lack of effort to help a customer are much harder to overlook. He did not like it as much as last time. The other suggestion I have for myself is to get flour tortillas instead of corn tortillas. I got the Carne Asada, which I thought was cooked well but the corn tortillas were not my favorite. I tried them since I didn't love the flour tortillas last time, but now I think I should switch back to the flour. My older son got just fries, but he also loves the queso so definitely get the queso every time. I like the rice and I'll definitely continue to come eat here because it is so convenient from LEGOLAND. I just need to remind myself that next time my husband might want to try a different dish, but that one of us should continue to get the Carne Asada because it is quite good.
