I hired Grant's for a custom steam shower and a glass deck rail in my new home in Mendocino. The shower glass was measured incorrectly and had to be completely redone. They replaced the glass, but once we started using the shower, water poured onto the walls and floor. They never installed a shower seal strip on the top or end of the glass -- a basic step for a frameless steam shower. In the middle of all this, the installer (John) told me the owners were retiring in a few days and he would be taking over the business. I called multiple times about the missing seal, and nobody seemed to care. I ultimately had to hire another contractor to come in and fix it. As for the glass deck rail: my general contractor warned me, "They're going to raise the price to make up for the shower mistake." And sure enough, an updated quote arrived that was about 20% higher, with a very flimsy explanation. Out of principle, I didn't hire them for that part of the job. I don't know if John officially took over the company or not -- he was personally very nice -- but in the end, he did not stand behind the work, and I can't recommend the business based on my experience. read more

We highly recommend this excellent locally owned business!! Julie and Grant are a GREAT team and their service is highly recommended even for coastal folks like us! Yesterday had to replace our window shield. Initially, Julie was very helpful on the phone to get the simple and very inexpensive process started. The work took two hours but it went fast spending time in Costco and walking the nearby path meanwhile Julie was available to pick us or drop us off no problem with the rain threat. We moved recently, and, after all the dust settled, we found we were missing the weirdly shaped glass shelves of a corner cabinet. I brought in a cardboard cutout. Grant made replacements for us that fit perfectly, were reasonably priced. I can't say enough about the customer service. Had a rock hit my windshield this morning which started a chip and two small cracks. I called my insurance company and they recommended Grant's glass received a call within a few minutes after placing my claim and was able to get in the same day brought my car down 20 minutes in and out and he even vacuumed out the front seats great customer service quality work excited to have a new resource that I did not even know about has been in business for quite some time apparently it's always nice to support local businesses and we'll definitely be adding this one to my Rolodex the team here is very friendly and personable they make you feel comfortable and welcomed definitely worth five stars would highly recommend and for sure will be bringing more work their way thank-you Grant's glass read more

Grant and his wife were great on the phone when we needed a windshield replaced. They were flexible and accommodating and really nice. The glass chip repair remained visible. Appears to have chipped off. Owner alleges normal to have it change with the varying temperatures. Stated Ukiah has "extreme" changes. (Ha!) Was told by other glass worker it was done incorrectly. Called and voice message was ignored. Called again and was told when the owner would be in. When I showed the owner the issue he said it would hold and that that type of rock chip would show. Never have had that experience with any other glass chips in the past that were repaired by other glass repair shops. Owner said other glass repair company was "full of shit." No offer to replace the windshield. Owner claimed it was the original windshield. Then employee said it was a replaced windshield. They can't even agree. Don't know what they are talking about. Regardless, don't recommend because of the quality of repair, lack of customer service, and colorful language. If 0 stats were available, would click. Don't use if you have Allstate. They won't insure/guarantee their bad repairs. Customer blamed for having car "bake" in the sun. read more
