Contracted Chad and his crew to install a glass shower enclosure for a remodeled bathroom. Chad came out the next day after I called him and took measurements. The Glass Shop was the second estimate i received for the project. When i compared the estimates side by side, The Glass Shop was slightly more, but i noticed they used thicker glass and more hardware to than others. The glass was installed about two weeks later and was fantastic. The glass thickness was exactly what i wanted at 1/2" and the install was seamless. Very much a real customer - Chad read all your messages from me last two weeks - multiple emails, texts and calls and no response. Previously had an ok experience with Chad for a shower and window but getting responses always hard and requires a great deal of follow ups to get a response. Funny how you have time to respond to a Yelp review but not a customer trying to order. I found another supplier - came to measure up the same day and it's getting installed early next week. I had a great experience working with Chad and his installers. They helped install two round bathroom mirrors (which I couldn't figure out how to install into drywall), a custom flat wall mirror for my primary bathroom double vanity, and a full-length flat mirror made to fit custom inside my closet door. I also had his crew hang two corded sconces on either side of my bed. This is a GREAT PLACE TO KNOW ABOUT as a local homeowner because they can help hang or install anything! Artwork, mirrors, custom installations... that kind of stuff is so hard and stressful to take on as a homeowner, and Chad's crew are total pros and will make it completely even and level. I had windows and skylights installed by this company and I suggest no one use it for their homes. Fitst , Chad doesn't stand behind his work. I've called a number of times with complaints about problems with windows (1) bathroom window doesn't slide up (2) kitchen winfow has slide through and window is very difficult to open. I could go on with issues but you get the point. I was told they couldn't come out. because they were busy. Next, roof leaked and roofer informed me skylights weren't installed correctly. Shoddy work around skylights and repair will cost me $4000+. read more

A company that is communicative, reasonable, actually shows up, and does a great job - that was my experience getting a new window in. I dealt with Chad and couldn't have asked for more. He showed up himself to assess the issue, and the crew he sent for actual install seemed to be sticklers for detail and took pride in their work. They didn't mind my peppering them with questions and compared to a different company that I had the misfortune to pick to install another window, the difference in experience was night and day. I was really happy and will use them again. I also appreciated them helping me put the window blinds up again after install (complicated and I didn't have a drill so taking them down with a screwdriver had been unpleasant!) We needed some insulated glass panels replaced. Our first quote from another business was very high. Chad and his crew came out and gave us a much more reasonable estimate. We hired him and the install was completed on time as promised. It was a few weeks later when I noticed a slight wave across the middle of two panels! It was hard to see until you saw it, then you noticed it all the time! It was hard to capture on camera. Chad worked with us to replace the faulty pieces and was very patient as we tried to capture the flaw on camera. The Glass shop just came out today and took care of it perfectly! I love this shop! I came in a few times with different jobs of varying size. Moving here and NOT from the Bay area, I've had to deal with sticker shock and wonderment that normal folks can live here. Unfortunately when you need to fix glass or windows, there isn't much you can do but the big box shops who only deal in big jobs and windows. Wanting to shop local, I found the glass shop for my 1st job. I could not believe the price - sticker shock the other way - VERY fair! Actually, more than fair, downright a steal. What I like: - The glass and materials were great quality. Lots to choose from - The owner, Chad. What a super guy! Down to earth, no job is too big and small for him. He appreciates the business and he is honest. I didn't feel ripped off. - Options were laid out for me even though my 1st job was small - He will travel. I want to use him for my home that is more than 100 miles away and we are talking now. What I didn't like: - Showroom was a little cluttered but since it's full of different options I can deal with that since that means more for me to choose - The same as what I like which is too many options! This is not the place to go for a small job. They are courteous when first approached. Requested two small shelf pieces and was told it might take a day, maybe two. Wrote out information and left phone number. No call, so after two days, I checked in. They said they just needed to finish the edges, and it should be done by that afternoon or the following day. Retuned after another two days, but not ready. Not so much as a phone call. Arrived again today and only one was there, the guy claiming he thought I only needed one, despite everything being written down. I'm very happy with the service I received from Chad and his team and have already recommended The Glass Shop to a neighbor. I received multiple bids to replace all of our windows and a sliding glass door. Chad and his employees provided the best pre-sales service. This is because they were informative, volunteering information I should be considering, and patient with all of my questions. They were also professional, friendly and responsive. I could have gotten windows replaced for a lower price by another business, but when I saw the actual materials, I learned the bids were not apples to apples in materials, nor in service. I went with better materials and more helpful service, rather than cheaper quality and price. The windows and door have been installed and it was easy; I did virtually nothing to prepare the space and it was clean again before they left each day. Recently had to have all the windows and glass in our home replaced as they were still the original pieces from when the home was built probably 40 years ago. Several people pointed me in the direction of The Glass Shop and I was informed by the contractor who did my parents home rebuild in Fountaingrove that he uses Chad for all his window and glass needs in his projects. My parents were extremely happy with the work and products that they received so I gave Chad a call to give me an estimate on what needed replacing at my home. After some procrastinating on my part a year passed by before I actually got serious about pulling the trigger and Chad was nice enough to come back a second time to get a fresh quote and answer some more questions that I had. Chad was always extremely informative and helpful with all the questions I had, helping me decide what I should do, pointing me in the right direction, and giving me solid advice on what would make the most sense for our home. Chad even figured out solutions for replacing some old glass we had in our kitchen that other glass companies said "couldn't be replaced" because our countertops were blocking a portion of the glass. I was ecstatic to learn new options were at my disposal and we weren't locked into keeping old failed glass because Chad was able to come up with solutions for us that would work. We ended up replacing all our windows with new Milgard windows, all existing glass was replaced in our sliding doors and kitchen window box, and we also got all new blinds throughout the house as well. We have been SO pleased and happy with the results that we have gotten from Chad and his crew. The project has happened in phases as parts availability is a bit sporadic with Covid, but Chad has been true to his word on all the project and appointment dates. His crew is awesome and they have done a great job, have been very friendly and professional, do a great job tidying up after themselves, show up right on time, etc. Chad has always been responsive, incredibly friendly and wonderful to deal with, and I truly can't say enough good things about him, his crew and his company. I felt that the value for what we got was definitely more than what we paid and Chad's pricing was far beyond fair. His bid was very reasonable and he said he could have my job done within a day - amazing! I had three custom mirrors and three pieces of glass cut from templates. This is in response to the owner's response to Candice's review below. I'm the "Dan or Martin" mentioned, and I'm not really even sure where to start with his response there's so many lies and fallacies in it. First of all, Candice is my wife, not a tenant. She works nights as a nurse, but is home more often during the week than I am which is why she handled most of the calls. Yes, there were multiple trips, but all but 1 of them lasted 10 minutes or less. After the initial visit, we were not once given an idea of what the cost would be, and when we were given a bill for over $400 we were shocked... I could've had a brand new door installed for not much more than that. I never signed off for $400 worth of repairs. The bottom line with these reviews and response is this.... one party has something to gain here and one does not. My wife and I have no personal stake anymore in what this company does. The Glass Shop doesn't want to lose business by having people read the negative review. You can make a decision for yourself which side is telling the truth and which side isn't. UPDATE TO BUSINESS RESPONSE: I think we'll let the unprofessional sarcasm speak for itself. Insinuating there is discord in my marriage? Classy move by a business. As noted above, we were never told cost for parts. They were simply ordered. No one ever messed with the doors, your workers simply did not notice things were wrong before. He was very knowledgeable, very professional, answered all my questions and made an appointment to measure my windows. During his visit we discovered more windows had to be replaced. Have to say, I am so pleased with their work. Price is average, maybe a little less then other glass companies, but quality is outstanding. Would highly recommend. Avoid business here if at all possible. We had a broken locking mechanism on our sliding glass door and Chad came out to assess. Said the job would be fairly easy and would come back to finish. He instead sent out 2 employees with very limited English who began work on the door and were unable to finish the job. After 4 separate visits 2 of which were less than 10 minutes because it was the employees saying they needed a different part or tool to complete the job they finally finished. We received an outrageous bill of 400$ and are still dealing with a locking mechanism that sticks. Very unprofessional and a waste of money, go somewhere else if possible. read more

Hmmm. This is a long story, and I am not sure how to begin. I guess the bottom line is that Chad appears to care about his work and his customers, but he does seem, in Yelp and email, to be defensive. After I wrote our initial review on Yelp, he called right away, which I thought was a good gesture. He made an appointment to come out and meet with us, and heard our concerns. He was pleasant and gracious. He then sent his crew out to do the clean up we requested. All this is good! The shower did look better after his crew came out, but it was still not what we had expected from the beginning, according to other shower work we had had done in another home. Additionally, he sent the following email to my husband, which I think sounds aggressive. "The tile setter moved the pony-wall cap over after we measured. It was in line with the wall and when we showed up with the glass it had been moved 3/16". This meant the glass would have to have been reordered with a notch or the tile cap would be polished to meet the glass. We decided to polish the tile as the new glass would be costly and take a week to get. As this is not an expense a customer wants to pay, we tried to mitigate the issue in the customers favor by doing the polishing ourselves. After the shower was installed the crew took photos and the silicone was bubble free. Just as they were leaving, the tile setter showed up and said he had some work to do. The crew told him not to touch the glass or make any dust as the silicone was fresh. The next call we get is that the silicone is a mess and bubbles are everywhere. The crew came back and cut away silicone that had grout dust all over it. The glass had been pushed and opened up the corner which caused bubbles. This was a terrible situation. We had to strip out the entire shower, clean all the seals from the tile and the glass. This took all day and you were not charged for this issue that was put upon us by the tile setter. Then we had to reset the glass. All of this could have been avoided if the tile setter had not moved the cap tile and did not do grout and tile work in a freshly installed enclosure" We don't agree that the tile cap was moved after he took his measurements. We understand that he is trying to protect and grow his business, but sometimes things just don't work out. read more

I needed glass replaced on my back slider. I called The Glass Shop last Friday to ask for a quote. Within a couple hours, Jose came by to measure and assess. Chad provided the estimate later in the day, and told me the work could be completed within a week. The time quote was good, the price was fair. When Jose came back to perform the installation (on schedule), he did so with courtesy. The slider's channel was gummed up with dirt and dust, and also had a broken wheel. Jose took care of these things while he was at it. In short, the job was done quickly, priced fairly, and done with professionalism and courtesy. read more

His crew responded as scheduled and they were efficient, polite, and easy to talk to . They dismantled my old shower stall, cleaned the area so it looked amazingly new, and returned as scheduled to install the new stall. I'm totally satisfied with the final product, the service- from inspection/estimate to final installation, and the cost. I should mention that Chad charged a little more than the other estimates but he offered better service related to removal/clean- up and a superior product. We just had a very custom glass shower enclosure installed. The guys were very professional as they worked. We got 3 bids as is our custom. Chad's bid was excellent. He gave us good advice about the install and we are glad he had the foresight to make sure our enclosure was correctly installed. This is the 2nd time we have used The Glass Shop. I hired Glass Shop to install some windows in a structure. I foolishly hired them to do some general contracting as well. They used a "retainer" system like a lawyer, and took a large sum up front. (note: not legal to take more than $1000 up front!) The idea was they would bill against this retainer, insuring that my total cost would stay below that limit. Little did I know that they would end up billing me over $50k, for work that I considered shoddy. I was billed for personal items and a refrigerator, not to mention tools. If you hire them, be sure to have a very tight written contract. Even though the law requires a signed contract they got away with not having one. BEWARE! In my opinion total scumbags! read more

Hiring this company to do our frameless shower install using 1/2" glass was a good experience, we highly recommend the Glass Shop. Chad the owner either answers the phone or returns calls within the same business day. We had a difficult shower install that required 'unique fine cuts' around existing bullnose tiles, plus the pieces needed to be carried up the stairs around a very tight corner. We had gotten two other prices and in each case were told we have to live with the new glass being left at a 1/4-3/8th" gap (filled with silicone) off the tile wall in order to miss the bullnose tiles 'YUK' so ugly and unprofessional. When Chad came out the first thing he did was to get out a tool that mimc's the cut around the bullnose and carefully laid out for all 6 cuts, this took a lot of his time. WoW' All of this attention to detail before a discussion of price or knowing he even had the job 'very impressed' Chad gave me a great price, 35% less than the other two companies. I was a bit skeptical because (as mentioned) the other companies both had said you 'have to live with the strait cut on the glass' in order to miss the tile which would leave the ugly silicone gap. The Glass Shop was not only doing a better more professional installation but at a lower price. No need to be skeptical' The 2 guys that came out to do the job were very polite and professional. They took great care in getting that heavy glass up the stairs to not hit the walls,the woodwork, the hardwood floors,etc. One of the cuts around the tile bullnose was off by a 1/16th of an inch. They removed the piece took it all the way down to cut and sand away more of the glass for a perfect fit. And that is what we have, a perfect professional looking fit. This took the 2 employee's an extra 3.5 hours. Chad never asked for more $$$ and was happy to make the job right. Chad then came out to look at the job to make sure we were happy, and of course we were. Incredible customer service, professional installers, and a very nice man in Chad the business owner. Highly recommend this company for your glass needs. They are doing more work for us, mirrors, windows, plus I have two of my friends using their services. Outstanding!!! read more
