I was so excited to check out this rooftop! Unfortunately, there was a bit of light rain that day so the rooftop was closed but the interior did not disappoint. The ambiance at Granville is classic and romantic. I love the beautiful tree in the middle of the restaurant, along with the muted lighting. We tried a few different cocktails: cucumber martini, picante pineapple marg with mezcal and tequila and the ginny hendricks. I wasn't crazy about any of them, they were overly sweet. For food, we shared the brussels sprouts, caesar salad, bacon and blue burger and the spicy pasta with shrimp. I absolutely love brussels and the lemon-herb vinaigrette really elevated the flavor. The caesar salad was covered in shaved parmesan and the house made croutons were so crispy. The spicy pasta was rich and the shrimp was cooked to perfection. I have visited a few Granville locations around LA and I think this one in Pasadena is my favorite. They have a nice spacious dining room with high ceilings, but the rooftop seating area definitely is the highlight of this location (as long as it isn't the height of summer with above-100º temps). Granville's menu has a nice variety of healthy menu items made with fresh ingredients. The waitstaff on this visit were all friendly and served my dish quickly. I had the Chipotle Chicken Club sandwich with a Granville side salad. It has fresh avocado and the bacon was cooked well, served on ciabatta bread. The salad is a Greek style with olives and feta and was a nice, crisp accompaniment to the sandwich. read more

Was there last night 5/18/25. We had such a wonderful experience thanks to the amazing hostess who went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and cared for. From the moment we arrived, she was incredibly kind, patient, and genuinely attentive--especially because we had a friend in a wheelchair. She made sure our seating was spacious and accessible, checked in often to make sure everything was comfortable, and handled everything with such warmth and grace. It truly meant so much to have someone so considerate leading the way. Her kindness set the tone for the entire evening, and it didn't go unnoticed by any of us. Great place to catch up with friends, especially with the rooftop view. The views of the Pasadena streets (Lake Ave) was nice, especially when it comes closer to Holiday season, just don't forget to bring a jacket though! In terms of food, the food was great! We always get a burger to share and last time we got the spicy salmon pasta and it was great; definitely felt the heat but it wasn't overwhelming to me at least. The mac and cheese is delicious as well, just beware though that it is a little heavy so plan accordingly on your food portions! I absolutely love the decor and vibe of Granville. Their are so many seating options and standing options around the "outside:inside" bar. The drinks are amazing. The bartenders really have a pallet for mixing correctly. The service was nice and efficient, even during the busy rush they were polite and quick. It's frustrating when you are waiting for your table and the host is never at the podium, however at Granville the host remained available the entire time which is rare to see. The flavors on the food were good , only recommendation is to veto the canned corn from the pasta. Thus not a 5 star. The bread is a bit too salty and to top it there is salted butter. A fresh baked bread shouldn't need all that salt. read more

Come here if you are looking for a lively vibe an awesome bartender/bar host (Alex M.) and that general excellence of service from the host that greets you at the door to that random person you ask where the restroom is every single person is friendly courteous and welcoming making the experience as good as the food. Ordered their pork chop and grill cheese dippers. The pork chop was so tender and cooked perfectly it instantly became a favorite. The price is a bit steep but the preparation is at Michelin standard. Grill cheese dippers were very very good, portion is enough for just a single person but the dipping sauce is their tomato soup and is unique from other restaurants with the perfect amount of spices and tomato purée. The parking is behind the building shared with other businesses neighboring it. You don't have to pay after a certain time. Huge thank you to Alex M. for making us laugh and making it feel like a vacation spot while dining there. Loved the outdoor rooftop seating area. It's relaxing in the afternoon when the sun is bright with a slight breeze. Staff are friendly and our server was attentive and quick. Got the Wagyu Beef Stroganoff, Brussels sprouts, and Poblano Quinoa. The wagyu beef and pappardelle were tender. The demi glace brandy sauce with mushrooms, horseradish aioli, and fried onions also made it a well put together dish. Brussel sprouts were standard but the currants and lemon-herb vinaigrette added a unique twist to it. I enjoyed the quinoa dish but made the mistake of adding grilled chicken to it. The chicken was old!!! The slices of chicken had a dry layer on the outside like it was sitting out for a long time. It was also very dry inside, dense, and tough. Would not recommend adding a protein to the Poblano Quinoa if you order it. It was better by itself without the chicken. I came here around noon for lunch and there was no wait. I have been to another Granville location many years ago, and remembered that I really enjoyed the food and atmosphere of the restaurant. In comparison, I think the Pasadena location is stunning and the detailed design of the restaurant is beautiful. I opted to sit indoors and we were greeted by our waiter who was very pleasant. We started off with the taco trio that came with a steak, shrimp, and chicken taco. I thought the best of the three was the shrimp! I remember trying the beef stroganoff long ago and could not get the dish off my mind. It was when they made the dish with farfalle (bowtie) noodles, tender cuts of beef shoulder, and a rich sauce. Now, they revamped the recipe and it's now served with shredded wagyu beef, pappardelle noodles, and a looser demi-glace brandy sauce. It was good, but I wasn't wowed compared to the previous recipe. I also tried some of the ahi filet dish, and the soba noodles it came with had barely any flavor. However, the ahi filet was delicious and it was a very generous portion of fish. Overall, I think a lot of the dishes here are a hit or miss. There are things on the menu that are worth getting and others that are just not good. I would recommend reading reviews and looking at photos ahead of time to see what you would enjoy here. I did enjoy my time and thought the staff was friendly and the ambience is great for a date. read more

Got brussel sprouts, salmon, skirt steak. Brussel sprouts was perfectly seasoned. Salmon was cooked perfectly and not dried out. The steak was a bit chewy for me but maybe because my friend got it medium rare. The chimichurri sauce was great. You can customize the sides. So I got mine with Caesar salad and my friend got his steak wi tb sweet potato fries. The sweet potato fries were unique. I think they were seasoned with rosemary. Portion was pretty good. If you sit downstairs, the large windows open like a garage door, and it's nice to feel like you're sitting inside with a breeze. It was a great balance of vodka, ginger beer, lime and for garnish, a piece of candied ginger. It was refreshing and crisp. For my meal, I enjoyed the Wagyu Beef Stroganoff which is made with a demi glace brandy sauce, mushrooms, pappardelle, horseradish aioli, and fried onion. I don't care for horseradish so it came on the side. There were so many robust flavors in this dish. The mushrooms were thick, and cooked to perfection. The beef in the sauce was incredible. The chicken was OK, nothing extraordinary. This pasta came w a few pieces of basil and like one baby tomato. It was such a plain boring dish. - Brussel Sprouts 2.5/5 Can't go wrong with Brussel sprouts, except when you over season them! It's HEAVILY SALTED. There's also nuts and raisins in them so if allergic, avoid. - Rainbow Trout 1.5/5 It's a boring dish. The skin on the rainbow trout comes soggy and not Crispy, so did not eat. It's heavily coated in breadcrumbs (or whatever it was) and comes with a side of lemon and brocollini. Make sure to squeeze the lemon on the fish to give it flavor! The fish was very bland. On the other hand, the brocollini was HEAVILY SALTED as well. It was so salty.... everything but the fish. - The Palomita 1/5 Didn't really taste too great. Mezcal w grapefruit etcetc. Had high hopes. Would not get again. Service: One of the waiters kept coming to our table and said he will come back a couple times when we sat down. He made us wait like 10 minutes to put in our order. The restaurant did not seem busy. He came to our table once we got the food and once again after we finished. Service was meh. Unfortunately, I am torn up a bit on how this review must go forward. We had a couple very special Medical Doctors join us in our recent visit to Pasadena's Granville. They were eager to make their way back to this wonderful location, in order to relive a fun and exciting encounter we had a few months back. Well, that evidently changed during and at the conclusion of our dinner this past weekend. Our previous visit months ago, was really outstanding and was talked about since our last visit- this dinner event was extremely uncharismatic. Our appetizers were mistakenly sent to an adjacent table, which quickly devoured them to our surprise. We had been waiting for them for some time before this happened. Secondly, a ribeye steak that had been put in on the electronic ordering system, had to be explained to us that there were "no more" cuts of this type of steak. Once told, the wait had been several minutes before our visiting friend had to pivot and choose another meal. We primarily visited Granville based on the previous visit by our guest who clearly had been craving the ribeye steak for some time. Our food selections were simple, a few burgers, chicken salad, and a skirt steak. Primarily speaking, the burgers had been reduced in size, from a few months ago. The taste and quality were not at the usual elevated Granville level. The steak was very simple and did not impress on our guest, despite having shared several tastes a few months back. It was not of the same quality as before. We did enjoy the music playlist that was resonating throughout the lower level dining room and bar. But, this is where things get awkward! Our waitress indicated that the manager was aware of the snafu with the appetizers and steak, at which they would be relieving us of this charge. We were pleasantly surprised and continued with our conversations. Not until the Bill came and the appetizers and a couple of soups that were promised to be excluded from the final tally, were not comped, as mentioned. Having a wait staff member claim that they Never told us that the manager said, " the appetizers and soups will be taken care of and removed from the bill," clearly left us with a sour feeling and taste in the six of us. Our waitress did scramble and try to find another manager, I believe it was Paul- who provided a small gift card for three soups. At this point I was feeling like I needed to put this card to the wind, but did restrain from going any further. We thanked our waitress, never did see a manager for the numerous issues that arose, and we pretty much made our way for a community walk- discussing how we could have made such a bad choice of restaurants, with such wonderful people visiting our community. I hope this is not common for other guests and visitors that come to Pasadena- the city I truly love. read more

I think the wait was only about 20 min for a party of six (in the dining room, not rooftop unfortunately). I'm a big fan of gin based cocktails - the drink was refreshing, just what I was looking for! Everyone else also enjoyed their drinks. The beef stroganoff had a lot of flavor, but was on the saltier side ... to the point where I was downing water. I went to Granville yesterday evening for a get together dinner with my clinical group and had a nice time. We were seated on the rooftop, and while I was nervous that it would be cold, it turned out to not only be cozy with heaters but also a nice atmosphere with great lighting. We shared the Artisan Bread and Butter, Brussels Sprouts, and two orders of the Grilled Cheese Dipper that our waiter recommended, and were very impressed with the appetizers. The duck fat butter that came with the bread was extremely flavorful, the Brussels sprouts tasted great with a good mix of spices, and the tomato soup was extremely rich and tasted of butter and cheese. For my entree, I ordered the Wagyu Beef Stroganoff, and was impressed with the presentation and how tender the beef was. It was very clear that everything was high quality, although I felt that the flavor profile of the sauce itself was alright and somewhat lacking if you are looking for something very flavorful. For dessert, we ordered the Lickety Split, Devil's Advocate Flourless Chocolate Cake, Berry Patch Shortcake, and Ice Cream Trio. Again, I was impressed with the quality of all the desserts, and they were very sweet but complimented our meal well. Our waiter was very kind, making sure to give us recommendations. That being said, I would only take off one star as I felt that the service was somewhat slow as we were there for about three hours, with the desserts taking about 40 minutes to come out. Inside was very aesthetic and lively. Got the wagyu sandwich which was a little small I can't lie, but tasted good. Got chips but was given a salad instead, but no big deal since I enjoy salad too.
