I've been here before and it was good but this time not so much. I visited on 7/5/18. The hummus was so salty that it was nearly inedible. The beef on the gyro was chewy and overcooked. There was so much gyro sauce on it too! Every bite I took was overpowered by the sauce! Yuk. The grape leaves with meat had very little flavor even with lemon squeezed over them. I took the items back for a refund and found that nobody in the place knew what to do to resolve the issue. The cook seemed annoyed that I wasn't happy with the food. I waited 15 minutes for staff to get ahold of the owner/manager so they could refund the items returned. I will say say that the young lady working the counter was very nice and did offer a genuine apology. read more

One must note that the portion is HUGE!!! I ordered a $4.99 Beef Gyro to go. The thing is SOLID and HUGE!!! They put so much beef shavings and vegetables and the creamy sauce in there it's amazing! This was our second time here and it was delicious! Service was friendly and fast. We ordered the gyro dinner that came with rice and a house salad. Not only was the food fantastic, but there was plenty for two of us to share. My 2yr old son ordered the chicken nuggets from the kids menu, which he loved too. I lived in Toledo for 10 years, but moved to Columbus in late 2005. One of the things I loved about Toledo was the Lebanese/Greek food. It is different in Columbus. When living in Toledo, I loved dining at the Grape Leaf Diner. This past weekend I was staying in a Perrysburg hotel, was driving down the road looking for something to have for lunch, & saw the sign on the side of road for 'Grape Leaf Express'. I was pleased. So I decided to try it. It didn't look like much from the outside. It is a small strip mall with a car repair shop, Tuffy or Midas, but when I went inside it looked really nice. Clean, nice artwork pictures on the walls, etc. The woman at the cash register was very friendly. She took my order, gave me my receipt, and said 'they will call your order number'. Well, about 20 minutes went by, no one called my number. Several people placed to go orders after me & had received their orders. A couple dining in at the table next to me (who also ordered after me) were getting food brought out to them. I thought it was odd I hadn't had my number called yet, and they were getting food, but I thought maybe they had soup or appetizers. Well...their entrees were brought out to them. I waited another 10 minutes and still nothing. I went to the woman at the counter and said I think they forgot my order since everyone else had gotten their food already and they ordered after me. She said oh, and looked on a side counter which had my entrée sitting there. She said quickly, 'they called your number.' First of all, no, they did NOT call my number...at least not that I could hear, Second, the customers next to me had their food BROUGHT OUT to them, so I thought maybe they were bringing food out and not calling the numbers, THIRD, if they HAD called the number and I didn't pick it up...why would they let the entrée sit there and get cold and not either re-call the number or bring it to me??? I got the entree, it was stone cold and salad was warm. I couldn't eat it. I immediately asked for a to go box so I could take it back to the hotel and attempt to warm it up in the hotel microwave. I hate microwaved food but they gave it to me COLD. I am in a hotel, they didn't even give me any plastic ware to eat the meal with, so I had to find a spoon from the hotel desk from the breakfast bar to try to eat the meal. On top of all this, my entrée came with no pita bread. I thought that was odd. Everyone else had pita bread around me. Most entrees come with a bread of some sort at other restaurants. If I had known it came with no pita, I would've gladly paid EXTRA to have some. My plan was to eat an entrée dining in and then order other food (appetizers, dessert) to take to go. So not only did they lose my future business, they lost a good sized 'to go' order from me. I was staying there from out of town so I will not be back. However, even if I lived locally, I wouldn't go back. This was a horrible restaurant experience I will not even comment on the food. Maybe future diners will have been luck than me. read more

We have enjoyed the food from GLEx ever since they opened. However, we were very disappointed today not in the food but in the preparation during Covid 19. My husband picked up the food with mask and gloves on. Neither the young lady at the front desk nor the cooks were wearing masks or gloves. We will not return again. read more

So glad we found this place on yelp*! We were on our way back from Columbus, OH to Dearborn, MI and were getting hungry. This place is on par with my favorite Middle Eastern place - Al Sultan in Garden City, MI. The hommous is delicious and a tad on the garlicky side. I had the Lavash Express sandwich. VERY tasty. It was a little hard to eat, but I had no problem eating what fell out of the sandwich with a fork. Also, it was huge. Definitely enough for 2 meals, even for someone who can eat a lot. My wife had the Chicken Shawarma platter and she said it was good. Plus it was a good experience - they have a good fish tank with diverse sea life that my son and I both enjoyed, and the staff was very nice. read more

I don't like to feel ripped off, so charging me $.99 more because my pop is for here left an immediate sour taste. Also the have all knock off pops except Pepsi and diet Pepsi. Ever hear of fusion? Me either, i guess it is like dr pepper. Got the falafel salad which was plentiful. Should come with more than 1 pita. Hoummus is just so so, but fattoush and falafel were good. All I can say is WOW! The restaurant doesn't look like much from the outside but it is amazing.

Really impressed by this unassuming place a little while off the main highway! We stopped in for a quick and light meal on the way driving from New Jersey to Chicago (yep, we're crazy) and were so glad we did! I ordered the lemon rice soup and the stuffed grape leaves with lamb. The soup was deliciously creamy and lemony, not too heavy at all! I had plenty of room to finish the half order of grape leaves I had. My only complaint about the grape leaves was that they weren't as tart as I was expecting. Thankfully they were accompanied by a lemon wedge so I just spritzed on some lemon juice and they tasted fine. My boyfriend ordered the falafel sandwich which was amazingggg and I actually wished I ordered this! The falafel was so crisp and fresh and the tzatziki sauce in the wrap was fantastic and decadent! I probably won't be back unless I'm randomly driving to Chicago from New Jersey again but this place is so worth a visit! read more

Food is great here, I always order the beef and lamb gyro with the awesome rice. Food does take a while to get out but its delicious. As for the service, its quite terrible. They do like to keep the food out before they give it to you for some reason. The last time I was there, I ordered ahead to pick-up. I got there and the food was ready, I paid for the food and the cashier told me to wait! She took orders from 5 other customers, which took a good 20 minutes. Then she finally called me over and handed me the food that was sitting right next to her since I had walked in. I couldn't believe it. The restaurant is clean and the bathroom is clean, I dont know about you guys but when I use someone's ba and it's not clean I do not eat there. As a Detroit native, I had access to some of the best Middle Eastern food around (Detroit/Sterling Heights....) I am picky when it comes to my Lebanese. Upon moving, I tried all Toledo/Perrysburg has to offer in the genre. While there are some other decent contenders, I have to say Grape Leave is the most authentic I have found. My favorites- chicken Tawook, grape leaves, fattoush salad. Oh, and their garlic sauce is fantastic! If they had "puffy" pita bread I would be in heaven!! The pita bread is lacking, but the hommous is delicious. Also- put a "chicken cream chop" sandwich on the menu, and I would probably eat there every other day ;) read more

First time trying Grape Leaf Express. I ordered a chicken shawarma. Why would they put an American Dill pickle on A Mediterranean sandwich. Mediterranean pickles are unique in flavor as is the America's classic dill pickle. For this reason I won't buy another chicken shawarma from them. The food is decent Mediterranean. The service is terrible. I have only been there twice. Most recently the woman taking carry out orders told me they don't have any party platters when I asked for a platter service 4-5 people (though it is on they're menu). When I asked in person the same woman reported they do have a "dinner" platter but no party platter and that she can't read my mind when I order. Maybe hire someone who knows the menu and how to communicate with customers. I won't be going back due to the rude service. I updated this review- in lieu of the platter that I was hoping for, they kind of ripped me off and skimped on garlic sauce and no bread (though it should be included with the order). I chose it because it was close by, but definitely better Mediterranean places in town with better service that I will go to in the future. read more

I eat at this Grape Leaf location 2 to 3 times per week, and it's always a great experience. The staff is friendly, and they get my order out very quickly. The food itself is always hot and delicious. My usual is the chicken tawook platter with rice and a house salad, and it never disappoints. The platter portions are generous, and fairly priced. I also really enjoy their lamb grape leaves. This is a great place to go in Perrysburg for fast and delicious Mediterranean food. read more

Ordered dinner for the first time last night. After a hard work out at the gym I picked up my order. When I ordered my food i was very specific that the order could not contain any nuts or almonds. I was very clear about this. I get home, so looking forward to the meal, open my 2 shish kabob dinners and see almonds. I was So disappointed! I called and the manager was very apologetic and offered to bring me a new order (I'm 20 minutes away from their location) but they made it right! Would not recommend. First time we came here it was okay, nothing special. Flavor in general is not up to par, especially for the price. I much prefer grape leaves from other places. We tried it again this week and it sealed the deal--we won't be returning. The order was wrong--I received french fries instead of green beans! The lentil soup tasted like lemon soup (in other words, way too much lemon added in). There are many better Mediterranean restaurants around this area. read more

Grape leaf express is by no means the best mediterranean food in the city but it is solid and dependable, as well as cheap (and close to where we live.)By this point we have tried a bit of the menu, gyros, shwarma, hummus, grape leaves, falafel, rices, fries. All of it is exactly what you would expect it to be, no surprises good or bad. It's a favorite to go spot for days I can't be bothered to cook. It's not a spot I would think to go to if I lived on the other side of town but if you are in the area and need a meal it's a solid choice. read more

We tried out grapeleaf express from a friends recommendation, and we were not disappointed! The food was delicious! It's very flavorful, extremely fresh, we had the chicken tawook, chicken shawarma, falafel sald, and hummus, all of which were very good, garlic and cucumber sauces were also delicious, I highly recommend the fattouch sald with the grill chicken simply amazing. What a nice addition to Perrysburg. Been to the Grape Leaf on Monroe few times and expected the same food here. I was not disappointed. A close friend lives in Perrysburg and this has become his go to place already - and it just opened back in October I believe. I had almost a $100 order and when I got home -20 minutes away-there was no bread. I called and they said I could come back and get it. I did drive back-20 minutes- and the best they could do to remedy this problem is to give me cheesecake and baklava and some extra bread. I will not go back! I still have high hopes for this establishment. It was very busy after I placed my takeout order and the confusion at the front began. After my order was completed and sat near the register for a good ten minutes and almost given to someone else twice, they said mine was ready and just came out. When the order was repeated to me, I didn't understand completely and when asked to repeat, I was told "I don't know". I regularly eat at the GLE on Monroe Street, so I think they are going through some growing pains being recently opened. I'll give it a few months and give it a try again...
