    Best BBQ west of Texas

Amazing BBQ - we had the pork ribs, pulled pork sandwich, beans/potato salad/and Mac-n-cheese. I'm stuffed and still drooling thinking about that meal. Sat outside under the shade cover. Perfect stop if you are in town or just passing through. And the owners could not be more hospitable! Someone on here said "the best bbq west of Texas" and they could not be more right! Oh and they cater!

The ambiance of the place is different from what you normally get, but different in a good way. Home style food that brings the flavor, juiciness, and amazing. Service friendly definitely feels like home. Definitely would go back again and again.

If you're in Selma, this is a must try- great food and great owner. I was looking for a good place to eat in Selma and I found Grapewood Grill. Yelp said it closed at 6, but it was a few minutes after 6. I called just to check that they were for sure closed at 6. The owner, Jordan, answered and said they had just closed and I said ok was just checking in case. That could have been the end of the conversation, but Jordan said they still had some food left and it was still out if I wanted something. I wasn't far away so I headed over immediately. When I got there a few minutes later, he made me a tri tip sandwich with a lot of meat, and a big container of Mac and cheese and one with beans. We talked for a bit after he prepared the food. The place is run by him and his father, so this is family owned and operated. He was so nice and is enthusiastic about cooking. It was really a pleasure to talk to him a bit. On top of a fantastic owner, the food was a big portion and delicious! It was some of the best barbecue I've had and I've traveled all over. I highly recommend Grapewood Grill. Go try their food and support Jordan and his father, and their incredible business!

Service was amazing very kind and welcoming. 10/10 food amazing flavor perfectly cooked meat was very tender and easy to chew.

We sat at the bar and didn't get helped until about 10mins after while they sat everyone else. Unfortunately there was the "bartender" and one waitress for the whole restaurant. So sadly we were attended to as often as we needed. Like when the food came we had no napkins or utensils. We asked for some and took about 5mins to have them brought over. The bartender was very apologetic throughout but instead of saying sorry everytime she saw us help us out. My husband ordered the tritip sandwich with chili. The gave him fries so we had to ask for the chili. I got the pulled pork and sweet potato fries. Everything was good. We ordered a salad to go and it took less time than anything else.

Still we were greeted very kindly by the manager up front. Took us to our table right away. Where our server took our order for drinks in a timely manner. And gave us plenty of time to decide on our order, mind you we did take some time since it was our first time there and we were unfamiliar with the menu. However he was very patient, glancing in on us to make sure he didn't miss us. Our appetizer was the calamari (I'm sorry I forgot the picture) but it was very good.! As good as Brad's from Pismo. Even my kids enjoyed it. The food portions were huge.! Definitley our moneys worth. My husband ordered the Prime Rib, which was HUGE. When they bring it out, they place it on the plate for you and you hear it sear, since the plate is super hot.! BTW it being hot kept his food nice and warm the entire time we ate dinner. I ordered the Rib Eye, and it was...soooo good!! I got it medium rare. It was nice and juicy.!! My husband was even eyeing it. I ordered grilled onions with it and glazed butter. The onions came on the side., which I then just put them on my steak. The baked potato was also delicious. The seasoning that they put on top makes it just right.! I also had their original margarita and an Irish coffee. While my husband and kids had the chocolate chip cookie with ice cream. The ambiance was great. I loved how the booths made the dinner feel more private, since their back sitting goes almost all the way up. The manager even made rounds and made sure that everyone was enjoying their meal. Our server...which was a young man. Had such a great attitude and composure, specially dealing with a toddler and young little man. He often checked in on us to make sure the service was good and that we were missing anything. Whenever we asked for refills or just ketchup, he came back right away with them. This place is pricey, seeing from the receipt how it was just 4 of us. 2 adults and 2 kids under 6. But the service and the food Definitley makes it worth it.! Specially the drinks. They're loaded, which I won't complain, makes it worth every penny. It's such a good vibe also. It's decorated just how you would think a "cattlemen's place would be" with plenty of props and good food.!

For starters, Daniel by far made the experience absolutely worth every minute and dollar. He was very knowledgeable about the drinks and food and had great recommendations for the customer favorites. His service was fantastic, he was on top of making sure everyone at the Bar had their needs met and was quick to assist everyone when needed. As someone who very much enjoys a quality drink, I would stick my own neck out to recommend what this place has to offer. Their drink menu contains a variety of flavors that satisfies different palates. Daniel let me sample the different flavors and I'm not exaggerating when I say that I was genuinely taken aback how different these drinks were compared to what's on the market. The place overall is pretty spacious, not too bright, really clean, has merchandise, a little arcade area, table seating, and bar seating. The most important thing for me was that it was really clean to include the restrooms. If you enjoy Hard Sodas, Seltzers, and or IPAs, I strongly recommend giving this place a try. The food they serve pairs well with the drinks.

I chose 2-stars because I did eat everything. I feel terrible because I know that a food truck is not an easy business to run. I love to give the benefit of the doubt to small business. Having that said, I feel like this meal was highway robbery...... I ordered the trio plate. I was told that it is the largest plate they have and the best way to sample all they have to offer. The selling point is that I was told it can feed two people or me twice. That was enough for me to order. After credit card fees, taxes and tip, I was out $30.00. For this price, my expectations are high. I figure if I can indeed eat twice, then $15.00/meal is a lot easier to justify. My food was ready quickly which was appreciated. When I grabbed the bag, I quickly noticed the weight wasn't as heavy as I was expecting. When I opened the container, I was quickly disappointed with the quantity of food I received for $30.00. Unfortunately, the quality wasn't up to par either. Don't take my word for it, see the picture. I'll start with the sides: Green Beans: These green beans looked nothing like the pictures on their menu. The picture on their menu shows fresh long green beans. These were 100% from a can. They were so soggy. Beans: Look at the picture. Look at how low they are filled. I had three spoon-fulls of actual beans and then a ton of watery sauce. The beans were also slightly undercooked. They had a bit of a crunch to them. They were a lot better than the Green Beans though. The meats: Pulled Pork: This was easily the best thing on my plate. The pork was tender and had a good amount of sauce. I highly recommend the pulled pork if you must eat here. The only problem is that I had three bites and it was gone. Tri-Tip: I had three tiny medallions of Tri-Tip. These were definitely cut toward the end of the tri tip. There was a lot of tough fat right in the middle of the Tri-Tip. Each tiny medallion had a 50/50 ratio of edible meat and fat. The flavor was nothing memorable. If this was someone's backyard BBQ, I would appreciate it and eat. However, I would in no way try to convince them to open a restaurant and serve that tri-tip. "Smoked" Brisket: I received 2 large pieces of brisket. Before I say anything, look at the picture and I think it will do the justice. The brisket is even drier than it looks in the picture. The outside had a jerky like texture. The inside was somewhat tender, but not what you expect from a supposedly smoked brisket. I refuse to believe that brisket is slow smoked like the menu advertised. Look at the picture, there is no sign of a smoke ring. There is also zero smoked flavor. This tastes like it was cooked on a gas grill then finished in an oven. I say this without the slightest bit of exaggeration, this was the most disappointing brisket I have ever eaten. Keep in mind, I was once server brisket from Panda Express. The first time I used my smoker, I overcooked a brisket. That brisket was better than what I was just over charged for. At least my overcooked brisket had a smoke ring and smoke flavor. Overall, I feel like everything was skimped. The portions and the quality of food I was served were poor. There was no passion on that plate. It seemed like the mindset was more along the lines of "How little quality and quantity can I serve to get away with these prices." With so many BBQ options in town, you better offer up something special to stand out. I really hope that my order was a one time anomaly. Maybe the smoker went out the night before? Maybe the tri-tip supplier gave them bad quality of cuts. Maybe the fresh green beans ran out so they resorted to a can? Maybe the main cook was out sick and the person covering did the best he could. Maybe not!?!? For the sole purpose of revising this review, I would be willing to give this place another try. I hate leaving reviews like this after only one try. However, it is hard to justify spending another $30 to likely be disappointed yet again. I want to re-emphasize that I don't take this low review lightly. I understand that this is your livelihood. I'm hoping that this review hits home and encourages change. If that does happen, then the benefits of this negative review will greatly outweigh the negatives. If no change is made, then the path is likely paved regardless of my review.
