So, let me tell you about Merrifield Garden centers. I have been to many many landscape and garden…read morecenters over the years. I know quite a few that have been put out of business because of the chain home improvement stores. When you go to Merrifield, you will be bathed in the amazing living variety that can be brought to your home, for indoors and outdoors. The selection is beyond anything I've ever seen, and the staff clearly loves the business. You can browse hundreds of plant and flower options indoors And they also have an amazing selection of patio adornments. The best was my experience today. I needed a garden hose adapter. Sounds simple enough, but this is so uncommon that all of the local chains didn't have anything, and one young man in an orange apron Ron suggested I just get it on Amazon. I stopped here at Merrifield, and they also did not have it in stock. But the gentleman at the counter Suggested that he'd be happy to make one for me if I wouldn't mind waiting for a few minutes. And he jumped into action, grabbing the hose and fittings that he needed and manufactured what I needed for me on the spot. That his old-fashioned service deserves a lot more than just five stars. Please bring them your business!

I've heard great things about Merrifield and though I've visited before, I hadn't bought anything. I took some pics of my lawn, some of the current grass/weeds/plants growing and went to their help desk. It was mid-week, so not too busy. Craig was working the desk and so I don't bury the lead... he was AMAZING. I explained what I was trying to do, that I really knew nothing, and though I had done a little research, I didn't want to trust everything I had read/watched. He walked me through my options. I don't care much about what is growing, just that we have good coverage. Clover was something I was interested in. He explained the clover options as well as some low-maintenance grass options. He even spent a lot of time helping me understand about aerating since it was something I wanted to know more about. I decided to go with grass and clover, hoping a mix might balance between lawn and something for the pollinators. As the spots were relatively small, he said I could just hand spread, especially with the clover seeds being so tiny. While prices are a little higher than the big box stores, looking into this, the products seem to be of a higher quality. Luckily my issue was sort of small to start with so I felt it was a good investment.

We had a bad experience with Peter. We had him come out to our house about a year ago for an…read moreestimate to do our walkway and two garden areas. The estimate was very pricey but we really wanted it done ASAP so we were going to move forward anyway. He came out twice to explain where the walkway would be and give us measurements - he did neither. He came out and had no drawings, no measurements and gave us conflicting information. He seemed annoyed that we had questions like 'where will the walkway go?'...kind of a standard question. On top of that, he was pretty rude. I was left with the impression that our job wasn't expensive enough for him to care about. He came off as very unprofessional and we absolutely will not use him or recommend him to anyone. We ended up going with another company who was much less expensive and they did a great job.

Once he came, he listened to what I was looking for and came back with a perfect design and terrific options for plantings. He ended up redoing my whole front yard with 3 trees, a beautiful flagstone walking, and fresh sod. He also managed to re-slope the front yard near the house and eliminate an issue I was having with water in the basement!! Just incredible! I could not have been happier with their work or their follow up on little issues when they arose. Highly recommend!!!!!
