This is by far my favorite juice bar/ healthy restaurant in Brooklyn! The juices are AH-MA-ZING! The matcha milk is my favorite, it's literally dessert in a bottle! I was super excited to try this place, what a shame that it let me down so badly. Juice was ok and coffee was good, but the customer service definitely needs improving. The communication between the lady at the front and the people juicing in the back is not working properly, hence they are not juicing customer orders in the correct order. I had to wait until two customers that ordered after me got their juices first, and had to remind them that I was there waiting for my juice before they made mine. Not a good start to the day. Update.... I have been here several times since my bad review, including today. I am recovering from dental surgery *again* so I am just as grumpy this week as I was when the bad review was written. I am not sure what changed but now, the MOD's and owners must be paying attention because the cashier people are nicer, the chefs are accurate, and the food choices are better. I just had an A.G. tonight mixed with some turmeric and flax, and it was delicious. Probably the healthiest thing on the menu. Am experiencing some serious burnout at work and this is like a magic elixir for recovery and wellness. Green juice is not for everyone so this place has choices. For instance, their non-dairy coconut yogurt with granola in it is an amazing dessert that won't clog your insides with dairy pus. It's really good!!! Staff is always friendly and helpful and fridge is usually fully stocked. Glass bottles are a huge plus and they offer a variety of nutritious juices and smoothies and foods. Wait time for food and smoothies not too long. Love that this is in the nabe. read more

The place looks nice but first time experience was such a Meh. it takes forever to make one simple smoothie and you sit there and see two staffs each on a blender and juicer freaking out about the machine. Neither of the machine was operated properly by the staff and I ended up getting a ice-cuby blended thing rather than a "Smoooothie" sign. but the place is so nice. So far I've only tried the fresh juices, and I think they're great. I've tried fresh juices at spots throughout NYC and these are comparable. Very affordable. The cold pressed are more $$$ but that's to be expected. They also have some raw foods and sandwiches that I haven't tried, but look great and are decently priced, though not cheap - like in the $5-$9 range. The several times I've gone, customer service has been perfectly fine. Everyone is friendly, drinks made quickly, and I didn't even get a stink-eye when I accidentally knocked over and broke the tip jar. read more

This place is just the best!! The have the best smoothies, vegan/ vegetarian food options and tons of adorable merchandise :) The staff is super knowledgeable about the items on the menu (which is really reassuring). I love having the zinger every now and then to clear up my sinuses (works great!), the macro bowl as well as the taco party are my top picks! I've done their cleanses as well... much better than a 'regular juice press place'. Stopped in for the first time yesterday, and was so glad I did! I've been struggling to find things that appeal to my newly pregnant/sensitive tummy, and was feeling particularly crummy yesterday afternoon. Clean, fresh juice sounded like just the ticket, and boy was it ever! I ordered their Eat a Peach, and was rewarded with a refreshing, light smoothie that literally made me feel 100 times better. The best part was that it was not overly sweet, like so many smoothies from chains tend to be - just the right amount of fresh fruit flavor. I was also a little nervous that the cinnamon, aloe, or coconut milk might be overpowering elements in the smoothie, but everything blended together perfectly. Usually love this place. But, I've been turned away 20 minutes before it's suppose to close (8pm) for anything that's not already pre-made. I feel like if a business is not honoring their hours of operation, than they should either adjust those hours or state that it's limiting what they offer. The good: - the juice is great. Always made fresh and proportions ensure the taste is what you're hoping for and expecting. - The coffee is great, espresso has this really unique zing b/c of where they source it (Africa, I think). - Really friendly people - Price! the price is great - $4.50 for a base juice, which is hands down lower than most places in the areas The bad: - They're a new joint, so the service is slow b/c they haven't exactly figured out how to be the most efficient. They're getting better, but you have to be patient. That said, they make the juice fresh, so it's never going to be "fast" - Part 2 of the service being slow: you can SEE it being slow. You can see and hear the newer staff just kind of looking at each other and talking it out sometimes. Verdict: I'm a fan, 4 stars. I live down the street and was pretty excited to see this new spot open on our rapidly-fancifying stretch of Via Vespucci of Puerto Rico (once the C-town rebranded I really started to worry about my rent). I want to love them and perhaps will once they hit their stride. I've had pretty much all the smoothies on the menu at this point, though no juice yet. When they are good they're delicious and a good value but they are really inconsistent and often painfully slow. The combinations are inventive but the staff needs a little more training on how to put them together. For example, the other day I had the almond butter and banana and it rocked my world. Secret ingredient: raspberries! But this morning I got the same thing and it sucked. Waaaaay too much ice and weird bluish chunks that didn't look anything like a raspberry, almond or banana. Maybe the juice-ista put in blueberries by mistake? Once the staff is trained up (basic stuff like how much of what ingredient to use and to add more liquid, not more ice, if a smoothie is too thick) I hope to be a convert. update: They have settled in and expanded their cold press selection, which I've focused on more than the smoothies. I think they are as good as juice press and with slightly better prices. read more

Overall fan of this place. Stupid cheap juices! It is on my way to the subway. My go to is a triple latte & a cold press juice for an afternoon snack. Took one of the sandwiches with me one day too. Very tasty & fresh. Haven't tried the baked goods yet but if you don't eat gluten I'd say go for it because they yummy. read more

I am in love!! I come to Williamsburg at least twice a week for work and I cannot leave without my smoothie fix! My favorites are power of acai and best breakfast. This review would have been 5 stars circa last year, when I came regularly every weekend after work, but it has to be demoted to 2 stars because of the mind-blowing price increase. We're talking $6.50 smoothies jumping up 50% in price to more than $9. I get that prices need to go up, that's a standard business practice. But the owner seems to have gotten a bit greedy is all. I just discovered Grass Roots Juicery last weekend while visiting a friend in the neighborhood, they had an amazing selection of cold-press juices so of course I stocked up and they have all been SO delicious so far. I come here regularly. What keeps me coming back is, not only the drinks but the fantastic customer service. The staff is fantastic and they work hard at their job. They go out of their way to remember your name. That kind of effort, put into customer service, transforms a business transaction into something personal and creates loyal customers. I used to come here almost every day for two years. But they have changed in a bad way, ever since they expanded. This place was never cheap. Cappuccino is $4 which is the most expensive in the area. However, they always had an amazing service and family- like atmosphere. Well, after the expansion, high prices are still here but all the little things are gone. I stopped coming there completely after they started asking me "do you wanna add tip?" - literally asking and putting me in a very uncomfortable position- even when I buy one drink to take out. I really don't understand what am I supposed to be tipping for if I am paying for an item to go? If I was a little richer than I am, I'd have no problem tipping these guys every time I buy coffee there. But I just can't afford to buy $5 small cappuccinos. I'd rather go to Charter Coffee right next door and shower myself with their lower prices, great pastries and amazing atmosphere. read more
