    Homemade Shepherd's Pie

I recently came here with my girlfriend on a Saturday afternoon. It wasn't too crowded and we got a seat right away. No appetizers for us this outing. We just ordered main dishes. We had the French Dip W/ Au Jus & Shepherd's Pie. Both of these dishes were delicious. The shepherd's pie was loaded with beef, mashed potatoes, and veggies. It was awesome. The roast beef and mozzarella sandwich was just as good. I loved the au jus dipping sauce. It made the sandwich that much better. The fries were nice and crispy too. Overall, or meals tasted great and we had a great time here.

My husband sometimes drives by this restaurant located in the historic Newfoundland Public Schoolhouse building and has been wanting to try it, so we finally did after a hike at nearby Apshawa Preserve. It's a traditional Irish pub and sports bar. Everything is perfectly OK. Pretty standard/basic pub menu and beer list. Our food was fine (Grasshopper burger w/ fries & shepherd's pie) except the lobster bisque which must've had a whole salt shaker dumped in it as it was virtually inedible. Service was good and we liked the warm raisin bread rolls that were brought out for the table.

Great place! The outdoor seating is great! The menu has a lot of classic American things, and a great selection of Irish food too. One of the best balsamic dressings I had ever had! And the chicken Murphy was to die for! Good portions, too. Awesome restaurant with a perfect selection of menu items even for picky eaters :)

I think I just found my new favorite Irish pub/tavern. This place rocks! They've got cool bartenders, great French onion soup and chili con carne. Their NY Strip Steak looks great too. I could only eat so much in one visit. I will be back again to try the rest of the fantastic looking menu and mixed drinks.

My first time here, and all i can say is that this establishment is amazing. The staff, the food, and the ambience is top-notch. This place was recommended by a friend of mine and we decided to throw my husband's 50th birthday surprise dinner. We had 20 guests and Sat at one long table. The whole restaurant was in on the surprise. They all clapped and whistled when my husband walked in. So sweet! It was such a fun filled evening with great food and friends. Everyone loved their meal. I can recommend the corn beef, chicken fajitas, steak Cobb salad, shrimp scampi and the sangria was on point! They even let me bring in my own cake. Can't wait to go back!

My Wife and I ordered the Fajitas. Beef and chicken. Outstanding presentation taste and quality of ingredients. The only possible topper was the service we received from Tyler. Displayed great concern, and speedy service and provided the rare quality of actually making eye contact throughout our engagement. Kudos to you my friend you are an excellent quality representation for your establishment. We on the deck and alone.

If you haven't been, I'm sorry. If have, rejoice and know the chef, Skip, who happens to be my brother-in-law will enjoy his retirement after a chaotic, non-stop last month. I stopped in for lunch today with my good friend and struggled with what my last meal should be. I opted for the Chicken pot pie and corn fritter. It was light, flaky and delicious. The corn fritter came with maple syrup and brought me great joy. My friend went with the pork Milanese which was huge! It came with mashed potatoes and veggies. She definitely will be having a second meal from that pork cutlet. She also ordered a Reuben to take home for her hubby. Sorry, no photos of the sandwich. The service is always top notch and the drinks free flowing. Stop in if you can. But know the wait will be lengthy but worth it.

Nice bar, and good selection for wines and beer. Parking is street parking mostly and they have couple of parking spots to the side of the restaurant. Genuine hospitality that welcomes you like they've known you forever. You are going to ask why you haven't been here many times before after you visit. Everything is of quality and fresh. The menu is concentrated offering a nice balance of traditional items and Irish dishes. The Potato and Leek Soup is made very well with such a clean smooth broth and plenty of potato and leek present in the soup. Try the Cajun Chicken and Sausage gumbo was a nice option offering Big pieces of Chicken and Andouille Sausage. Nice kick but not overwhelming. Clams or Mussels appetizers are on point and worth sharing with the table. The Corned Beef and Cabbage dish was amazing and definitely NOT bland! Lean Corned Beef and fresh hand cut veggies make this a must have! The NY Strip, is tender, cooked perfectly and recommend having the whiskey sauce over the top! For $38.95 it is a bargain! Highly recommended as it literally checks every box for me. Will definitely return!

She let me try one of the seasonal beers but it wasn't for me. I opted for a Stella instead. You can't go wrong with a Stella draft. Hubby ordered a Guinness because he loves them. When you walk in, it's more of a pub area, tall tables and a happening bar. We asked to sit in the dining room which was bigger than I thought. There was another bar which seemed crazy but I could only imagine what this place would be like on St. Patrick's Day. I asked our server which she would choose between the Guinness Beef stew or the shepherds pie. She beamed and said the Guinness beef stew. It was amazing! The sauce was perfection, the beef was so tender and the mashed potatoes the perfect was to soak up the sauce. My husband was jealous he didn't get the same. Before dinner, he got the mushroom soup which brought him great joy. He also liked his choice of chicken Murphy. He enjoys the peppers, potatoes and two huge chicken breasts with a delightful sauce. Of course we took food home because there were such big servings. Hubby wanted coffee which was not the freshest but it was 7:30. It was ok because the dessert was one of the most delicious things I've ever had. The server suggested the restaurant's specialty - Banoffee Pie: A homemade trish dessert. Cookie crumb base, homemade toffee, sliced banana & fresh coffee cream. Omg, the cookie base was is made in-house.

It is on the spicier side, so this is something to consider if you do not like spice. That said, the noodles were terrific, and you are served a large portion of it. Wow! So I asked ChatGPT, hey chat, can you recommend a fun, reasonably priced restaurant nearby for…read moredinner and one recommendation was White Owl Tavern. Hmm, never heard of it. Honey, let's go! So we went and so very glad we did. Appropriately 10 minutes from home we pull up to this seemingly small bar restaurant and to be honest, from the neighboring burned shell of a restaurant next door and the need to find parking since the lot was full we almost drove away but the full lot told me that something good was happening inside so in three minutes we found a spot on the main road and walked half a block to the restaurant. We were greeted by a friendly host who made a booth available for us in a couple of minutes and sat. We were greeted by our exceptional server Jess and drinks were ordered. I had the Mai Tai and my girlfriend had the Lychee Martini. The bartender here at White Owl should have his portrait hanging in this restaurant because his drinks are absolutely perfectly crafted! Now on to the food. We started with the Frito Misto and the Firecracker Shrimp. Both exceeded our expectations. The Frito Misto was missing the scallops but neither of us cared. Crispy and delicious. The marinara needed slightly more salt but that's just my taste. For dinner my girlfriend had the Short-rib Showdown, cheese ravioli topped with short ribs, pistachio, Parmesan and Calabrian chili. Outstanding!! I had probably the best grilled cheese sandwich I've ever had, Umami Grilled Cheese, frico coated sourdough, birria, cheese, apricot jam and caramelized onions and a side of birria consommé to dip. I mean, if I'm ever offered my last meal, this will be it. Maybe adding some shaved white truffles for a kick. lol. One thing I noticed that's really important to me when I'm out was the cleanliness. There are disco balls hanging throughout the restaurant that must be cleaned weekly if not daily. Shelves, fake plants, walls all very clean and well cared for. I love this place and can't wait to get back to try the rest of the menu. Thank you to Jess and the whole team at WOT. You guys are exceptional! I highly recommend!!
