My girlfriend and I came in, right off the bat, the drinks aren't very good, mojito was a NOjito, as in no flavor and all sour lol but the beer was good. We got potato skins and wings and the wings were perfect, fall off the bone as well cooked. The potato skins........perfect cheese, perfect bacon, but can we get a little flavor onto that potato? Next time. I got the pulled pork Sandwhich, it was perfect all around and delicious. The fries were PERFECT!! Crispy and fresh. My girlfriend got the stir fry, the vegetables were perfectly seasoned but the chicken could use some flavor in itself. I was told it's a bit bland like the potato. Overall, 4 stars, our server was attentive, friendly and patient with us. The food was great, no major complaints at all. I took the star off just because the cocktail wasn't very good, the base of the food we ate could use some more seasoning and flavor in the (potato and chicken). We went here for a 47 year old birthday party! We first had buffalo hot wings which were perfectly cooked. The wings were perfect with medium heat! It was tender and the meat came off easily. The breaded mushrooms were very good! And the bruschetta was very tasty. For the main entries, chicken franchise, baked ziti, corn beef and cabbage/potatoes. The chicken franchise was so good! Early dinner in Franklin, New Jersey on 3-15-25, The Ides of March! When we drove past Irish Cottage Inn, my friends reminisced about the fun times they had when they been there. I suggested that we go today - before it gets crowded on St. Patrick's Day. They agreed! We got there around 3pm and parking was a bit tight in the front of the building. We waited at the receptionist's post a while before we got seated. Live, peppy music was happening in the pub side of the restaurant. We got a table in the back... and I had a chance to use a coat rack for my long coat! LOL! Our server was friendly and efficient. She quickly brought my friends their meals of fish and chips and Bangers. I got the Corned Beef En Croute which is Corned beef and cabbage with potatoes, baked into a flakey pastry. It was excellent with a creamy horseradish sauce... amazing! I really wanted to like this place more but it didn't live up to the hype. The food wasn't bad but the portions were small relative to the price. $17 for a side dish of shepherds pie was a little disappointing and then the 8 oz. Margarita for $12 is ridiculous. While out running errand in a town far, far away from our home, we decided to stop at the Irish Cottage Inn. I was a little skeptical after seeing the wide variety of reviews, but I'm glad I ignored the bad ones because we had a fantastic lunch. We started with a couple beers...and in an Irish pub we had Guinness and Harp. Wifey ordered the Sliders and had one of each - pulled pork, corned beef, and a regular beef bacon cheeseburger. I went with one of my stand-by meals..Fish and chips. We ended up doing halvzies and split our meals. The sliders were great, though I liked the corned beef one the best. The fish and chips were good, but not so amazing that they'd stand out from other fish and chips meals. Our waitress, also the bartender, was awesome. Very friendly, got us our drinks and food quickly and was nice to talk to before and during our meal. The restaurant itself is your normal Irish pub. Tables weren't crammed together, bar area was nice and had a couple tvs. If I lived up here this would be a go-to place for me. read more

I'll have to go back and try something different but I stopped in for a drink and app and I got the #1 en croute app. I thought for $13.99 it was very underwhelming and lacked flavor. Maybe I didn't get a good one but it wasn't stuffed by any means and it wasn't mixed well. I've been to Irish Cottage Inn numerous times over the years when coming home to Vernon, NJ, from out if town. It's always been a great place to grab a pint and a bite. This post is to applaud Audrey, Shannon, Rachel, and the rest of the staff, especially the kitchen, who were able to turn on a dime to host our class reunion. We booked a separate venue months in advance to host our class' 20-year reunion and at 10 AM on the day of the event, we learned they didn't have power and couldn't host us. I called The Cottage at 11 AM, when they opened, to see if there was anything they could pull together and host us. After a few phone calls to work out some details on their and my end, we were booked for the back room with dinner (salad, pasta, chicken francese, and shepherd's pie), dessert (cheesecake and brownies) and beer/wine (domestic and house) included. The place is okay. Servers are nice. Shepherd pie and some plates are descent. But last time I visited I ask for the half of chicken and vegetables, about 20 points, and the plate was awful. They give me what could be one quarter bathed on gravy. I ask the server and he just told me that's what the chef prepared. After 10 mins came back but I started eating the one and decided to just "ok" him, same day after minutes I had the answer to this old, quarter, black toasted dipped in gravy. Pretty bad! Borrowing from Dickens it was the best of meals, it was the worst of meals. Stopped in so my wife could have some corn beef and cabbage. Her portion was healthy in size and she said it tasted great. I ordered the chicken parmagan in vodka sauce. Out came a slice of chicken that was a quarter inch thick, burnt around all the edges, dry and leathery. Wife asked how was my meal and I said one step below a bad school lunch meal. So it was truly a tale of the best and worst this place has to offer. Came here for lunch Sunday afternoon. The place was very quiet. Most of the crowd were at the bar watching TV. The atmosphere was very chill and cozy, and didn't feel so much like an Irish pub- More like a little restaurant attached to a bed and breakfast. The staff were really friendly, and our waiter was very nice. He came with the drinks and food right away and gave us his personal favorites on the menu and specials. I had the shrimp summer special, which was pretty good. Not the most amazing shrimp I've ever tasted but I'd give 4/5 stars. And also the peach sangria. 5/5 I asked if they had any Irish soda bread, they didn't- but the waiter was very nice and brought fresh rolls out to our table. Ok so after eating here on numerous occasions I've finally decided to write the review. Can't explain why it's taken so long. One thing I can say is that their food is good and that's what keeps me coming back. You really can't go wrong with any of their Irish dishes. My wife has her go to "shepherds pie" and she seems to order this at most Irish Pubs we frequented. I don't judge because that's her favorite, and it is quite good here. I like mixing it up a bit, sort of like spinning that wheel at the carnival and see where it lands. I also have my faves, I'm a sucker for the Fish & Chips, and the Guinness Stew will warm your belly on a cold winters day. On this cold day my wife had her go to and I decided on a Chicken Murphy. We also ordered an appetizer of Bacon Boxty which according to the menu description is a traditional Irish potato cake (looks like small pancakes) that were delicious. Of course there's plenty of fluids to wash everything down. No shortage of beer at a pub. Harp for me and an Alabama Slammer for my wife. Place gets crowded on weekends and reservations are recommended for large parties. St. Patrick's is only a couple of months away and I'm sure that the owners and staff will make it work even with these times that we're all going through. I'm all in. But I'll have to pre game before March 17th comes around. read more

Stopped in for a quite bite on the way back from High Point as the place looked inviting. Typical pub layout with hightops in the bar area and somewhat more formal dining area in the back. We opted to sit in the back room near the fireplace as it was somewhat quieter. I grabbed a Smitty's from the draft list and the wife went with a pear cider. I opted for the traditional standby Shepard's Pie and she asked for a corn beef on rye with sweet potato fries. It took long enough for the food to come out that I ordered a second beer (not necessarily a bad thing) but it took me several tries to flag a server down to get it. I thought my pie was pretty good, it was large, had plenty of filling, delicious buttery mashed potatoes and a pretty good flavor. The wife was not too happy with her sandwich as the bread had the same texture as packaged store bought rye and fell apart while she was eating it but she did enjoy the fries. Prices were reasonable and I guess if I were closer I'd give them another shot on different beer and meal options. read more

Terrible and awful customer service from manager Tom. Takeout of 3 Corned Beef sandwiches on 3/11/22 was awful. Instead of nice slices of Corned Beef the sandwich had tiny broken up pieces the size or kernels of corn. Difficult to eat, couldn't even use a fork to pick up contents as it just fell out of bread. Over the years we have always had the Corned Beef and it was always amazing. Each meal had slices of Corned Beef, tender and flavorful. Tom, insisted that the crumbled pieces is how they have always served their Corned Beef so it is tender. He argued his point. Not even to consider my side. I have pictures of this mess! I was an hour and half away bringing lunch to my dad of 87. So returning to Irish Cottage was not happening. POOR POOR customer service. Just offering me 20% back would have made me happy.
