talk about a wharton hidden gem. right off the main road you'll find an aesthetically pleasing dining experience. the decor is very chic yet rustic and charming. great date night vibes or solo lunch potential with a menu that's not what you would normally find in the neighborhood. the service was excellent. i ordered the great owl mocktail which was really sweet but tasty as well as the drunken noodles with short rib, a thai italian fusion dish which was packed full of flavor! a hint of sweet, heat, and tons of umami make this a delicious choice! my mom had the birria tacos which she enjoyed and the brownimisu for dessert (she cleaned the glass it was so good ). all and all i'll definitely return to explore their extensive & creative menu again soon! if you're thinking of stopping by, be like nike & just do it!

We went out to celebrate our anniversary at The White Owl Tavern and what a delightful surprise! The interior was welcoming and decorated beautifully. The menu was so interesting and unique , we had a hard time deciding. For appetizers we chose the Firecracker Shrimp and String Along. Both were very enjoyable. For entrees, we had the Wise Guy and Hot & Naughty. Once again, both very unique and delicious. Finding out that the desserts are made in house, we decided to try the Pucker Up ( key lime) and Peter Rabbit ( carrot cake) ... they were phenomenal. Everything was super tasty and good quality. The staff were extremely friendly as were the owners. This is quite the gem in Wharton! We will definitely be back!

Truly one of the best local restaurants! We love coming here for dinner or even just to get some drinks at the bar. The staff is super friendly and personable. Have not had a bad meal yet!

Holy cow, where do I even begin! My wife and I wanted to try this place for our date night (you absolutely should make a reservation ahead of time) and we were completely blown away! From the food, to the ambiance, to the service, everything was absolutely fantastic. Their specials menu is absolutely spot on. My wife got a delicious pasta dish and I went for a meatloaf sandwich (don't let the that deceive you) and both were totally fantastic! Our cocktails were absolutely spot on and delicious!!! I would highly recommend you get there a few minutes before your reservation because the parking is limited and you may need to find street parking.

Here's the deal! Really liked this place The inside is bright and clean! There is a bar area on the left and booths right with tables in between. Our service was excellent Jennifer was a big help with suggestions! Also met one of the owners and loved her background and vision for the restaurant. Food: appetizers Ribs 9/10. Meatballs 8/10. Taco Birra 10/10 Main course: chicken parm 8/10. King Louie Ripper hotdogs 7/10 (enjoyed by others at the table). Smash burgers 9/10 Short rib special 10/10! Dessert: crème brûlée was standard and yummy The brownie dessert was amazing Some things to note : Parking can be tough in that area Noise level is high That said. Good spot for casual date or to grab a bit at the bar Kid friendly too Definitely go back

We went here for a date night during the middle of the week. The side parking that was available was convenient but I can see parking perhaps being difficult during a busy weekend/holiday since it's located on a residential street. Either way it worked out for us! I don't think you can go wrong with any of their cocktails. Amy the co-owner with her husband mentioned they will be having seasonal menus which is nice for someone like me who likes to be a frequent eater at fave places and can have options the next time I return. Attaching photos of what we ordered. My recommendations: Ribs as app were amazing, crispy chicken sandwich had some heat but it was very mild and you have to end the night with the warm and fuzzy.

I had the birria nachos, birria grilled cheese with apricot jam, and fish & chips, and everything was fantastic! The flavors were fresh, well-balanced, and each dish had its own unique twist. The birria grilled cheese with apricot jam was a standout--sweet, savory, and perfectly grilled. Definitely a great spot for upscale bar grub! I also got the vodka fusilini for lunch which was good and zesty!

White Owl Tavern is a restaurant that recently opened in Wharton. I believe this was an older bar and it's been remodeled into a nice, little restaurant. On a Saturday night, the place was crowded, but there were open tables. We sat in a booth, but the bar looks very good also. As with most places, there seems to be a few kinks to iron out, but we had a fun time here. They have an interesting drink menu and next time will go for one of those. Since we were ordering Italian entrees, my wife and I went with Pinot Noir. The one negative I have here is that I wasn't crazy about my order, Fusilli alla Vodka. My wife had the chicken parm and thought it was very good, although she wasn't crazy about the pasta. Next time we go back, I think we'll try items off the sandwich menu. We split a dessert called "Warm & Fuzzy" which was amazing! Blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, all heated in a skillet with a crumb topping and ice cream from Denville Dairy on top. This was the star of the meal! Our server, Julianna, was fantastic! Great personality and took care of everything we needed. Parking is mostly on the street and was a little tight. My main take away was that we liked this place well enough to go back again!

Decide to stop by the new place that opened in town, and I will definitely be coming here often! Food: starting off with very light, delectable misto fritto which had an amazing mix of shrimp and calamari with a delicious sauce they referred to as the WOT sauce. I had the pusilli alla vodka as per the recommendation of the waitress which was out of this world. The vodka sauce, complimented by the whipped ricotta, and spiced up with some cherry peppers, was a perfect blend that I truly enjoyed with every bite. My wife has birria tacos which were the first that I have never seen soaked in grease with a supposedly excellent consommé dip Aesthetic: from the beautiful wood/laminate flooring, to the pretty neon signs, and the nice coordination of powdered coated metal and wood makes us very aesthetically pleasing and Instagram worthy place. Service: our waitress, Allie/Ally, was amazing. She gave us great recommendations, helped us frequently, and was super kind to us the entire time. She is one of the many reasons my wife and I will be back.

Cool little place! They have a signature new trail beer. Light and airy crisp beer. Lots of yummy signature cocktails. Local distillery spirits and plenty of ambiance! Check it out. Pics of happy hour apps.

The ambience is decent. I went on the recommendation of a neighbor. We went was seated immediately. We ordered our drinks and Asian Zing ribs as an appetizer. I ordered a cosmo and it was tolerable. I've had better at other establishments. The ribs looked great but tasted okay. I expected it to be a little sweeter. However, I ate some because I was quite hungry. Our waitress came back to our table and we ordered our dinner entrees. We ordered Fusilli alla Vodka and Tavern Parm. The Fusilli was dry and hardly and was prepared with hardly any pasta sauce. It was not flavorful. Pretty much bland. The Tavern Parm was not all that good. The chicken was bland and the noodles were okay. We were both disappointed. Our waitress did ask if we liked our entrees. We were honest about it and she asked if there was anything she can do for us. We declined and paid our bill. Overall, White Owl Tavern has decent decor and the waitstaff is nice. This Tavern may be a gem to others, but not for us.

We started off with the fried pickles that were the perfect combination of crunchy and tasty. The best fried pickles I've had because the batter was seasoned and the pickles were cooked yet still crunchy. They created a sorrel type dipping sauce that was absolutely out of this world. What drew me to this was the smoked brisket sandwich. The brisket was flavorful and literally melted in your mouth. It was topped with melted cheese and a mango habanero chutney that was out of this world. The flavor profile of this dish was exquisite. My husband did a make your own meal, which included two meats and two sides. He opted for the jerk chicken an ribs with a side of Caribbean rice and fried plantain. I felt safe walking inside of The Smokehouse today, no unofficial doorman. The second thing, this used to be a few seats for dine-in, but I can understand why it's strictly in and out. They are very busy, I would say, too busy to deal with cleaning the dining area. That is a good thing for business. I didn't see what I wanted and the young lady, ( I appreciate her so much) was kind and sweet. She informed me of the type fish they serve. I got Whiting, Mac n Cheese, and Greens. The Food* The greens were very tasty, properly seasoned and proportioned well. The Mac n Cheese is always compared to moms. Though the Mac n Cheese didn't hold together like I'm used to eating it. I did find it quite D'licious. What ever they are doing? They, are doing! I had the fried whiting, it had a bit of spicy kick. Very tasty, moist, not over fried or dry. The cornbread was silky smooth and held together on its own. I've never had cornbread that was like butter yet held together and didn't break apart, even when you bite it. I got three pieces, of course for an extra cost and it was so worth the purchase. To sum it up, this is the exact kind of meal, taste included, mind you, that I'm used to eating down south. The smoke house has duplicated a fine Southern dish. Just thinking, if they decided to offer a full sit down experience, like severs, a hosts or hostess to greet diners, table service, what a wonderful world this would be. Pro-Tip: Make sure you get the peppers and onions on top of the whiting. You can thank me later. Inspire more, Yelp more!
