The good, the bad, the localness of a pub. The "& Grill" must be accounted for in the review, so here we go. Local pub. Laid out in an Irish manner, which matches the name. Woody, a few corners to turn to decide where to sit. Maybe the bar could be slightly bigger, but that's nitpicking. Good beer selection on tap and a wide variety of bottles and cans if you desire. Unfortunately my beer came extra foamy. The waitress tried to play that off as "oh it's a new keg!" but I have never gotten that at another pub. They will try to top that off instead. Service: OK. Informative, helpful, but the food took a long while to get to our table. But at least everyone got food all at once. Atmosphere was pretty nice, actually. Karaoke wasn't that loud - we were one section away and couldn't hear our own people sing. Some of you may say that's bad, I say that's the only way I'm surviving a night like that. Organized service and the way everyone work together and in sequence I no ass kisser trust me Im a Chef who loves the restaurant business and the kitchen and every utensil and tool and kitchen equipment more than anything in the world and I'll tell you what these men and women worked in the back of the kitchen and in front of the house were excellent They were dedicated devoted, hard working team. Great little neighborhood pub with an old school Irish vibe. A touch divey (which I personally love) but certainly not a dive bar. Nice selection of beer. Guinness on tap, which is always a plus. I sat at the bar and ordered the French dip which was absolutely as good as it needed to be. Very friendly bartenders make you feel right at home. Great spot to stop if you are catching a show at the Newton Theater a couple of blocks away. I will return to O'Reilly's again for sure. Four and one half stars on my bar food scale. read more

O'Reilly's is a cozy pub with TVs, bar and a sit down dining areas that can accomodate small and larger parties. Reservations are advised. We often have a meal here before we see a show at the Newton Theater that is within walking distance. The last time we went, I had the Buffalo Chicken empanadas that were great. We shared chicken wings that were plump and well seasoned. My Chicken Pot Pie was very satisfying. Service was a little slow, but it was a very busy night due to the show at the theater. read more

Chicken Caesar clearly had frozen reheated chicken with fake grill marks that was rubbery and flavorless. 3% credit card fee which I didn't see before ordering. Be advised, the one star for this place was earned solely by the bartender/waitress/server/bus person. This girl was running around both inside and outside and behind the bar doing everything! The food however that's another story. Nachos with all the usual toppings and the waitress up sold us on the pulled pork. Big Mistake! First scoop included the pulled pork that was clearly spoiled! After putting on my glasses and giving it a good look, it was pink inside. PINK!! Nope! I ordered fries as a replacement because I figured the hot oil would kill any of the bacteria the cook might have added to it from the bottom of his shoes. Hubby ordered a medium burger which came out an hour later pink and cold in the middle! This place is a HARD NO! But someone please come into this place and save that girl behind the bar. We started w/an order of wings with 2 different sauces on the side. They were crispy & meaty - great start to the meal! If you are with a big group, order the nacho's - they looked amazing & is very large. Burger was homemade & cooked perfectly & tasted great! Let's start here: AWESOME BURGERS! And.... Tremendous staff!! Now that that's out of the way...had tickets to the Soul Asylum show at the Newton Theatre on a Saturday night in February. To say dining options (with a bar) is limited is an understatement. We stoped at O'Reilly's on Spring Street for a pre show snack. Little line at host station but the incredibly cordial gentleman (my bad I didn't ask his name) was definitely focused on getting his customers seated and very attentive. Now, our 1st time here so I had zero idea that reservations were recommended (my other bad) - so, and I 100% support this, he took care of customers with reservations but he was very nice to my wife and I who just showed up. We waited 5 minutes tops and he found us a seat, much appreciated. Our server was Donovan, a really nice, super professional server. I wish him a great future in whatever he does because he made us feel at home. If the owner is reading, he's an asset to your business! Anyway, we had some wine, some burgers (cooked perfectly), watched pickle ball on the huge screens and really enjoyed ourselves. We live about 45 minutes away but already have plans to come back when weather warms. A+ SPOT. Extra point for the obscure and cool beer (and booze) signs!!! read more

Came here with some friends about a year ago. Always wanted to leave a review but usually not the type to do so. However, this place gave me the worst food poisoning of my life. Don't get pasta here, when it initially came out it was extremely COLD. My mistake for making the waiter heat it up for me because the next day after eating it I couldn't stop barfing every hour for a straight day. 3.5 half stars for this cool local Irish Pub came here last night for dinner with a party of 6 before going to the Newton Theater. The parking lot is small so when it's crowded, it could be a challenge, but we were able to get a spot. Walked in and mentioned our reservation, and we were seated immediately. Very friendly waitress came over ordered our drinks and appetizers, which came quickly. We ordered a few different versions of the wings, which we were told came eight in an order. Come to find out, they are actually six in an order, but what are you gonna do. We got the chipotle, barbecue wings, the regular buffalo wings, and the Thai ginger wings. All the sauces tasted incredible, but the wings themselves, could've used another 2-3 or more minutes in the fryer. They were very big wings, the skin had no crisp on it whatsoever, and as you eat towards the bone, they got more difficult to chew. They were not raw or anything, they were just under done in my opinion and the opinions of everyone at our table. For dinner, almost everybody got the burger, I got a cajun grilled chicken sandwich and another person in our party got the Reuben sandwich. My sandwich was good, hardly any cheese, but that's OK. The fries were excellent, very crispy, and well seasoned. All in all a great experience, hanging out with friends, if they fix the wings, it will be even better. read more

If you are going to a concert at the Newton theater DO NOT EAT HERE! When we ordered we told the waitress we were going to a show and please have our bill ready when our order is brought out so we could settle up. We waited one hour after ordering and never received our food. The waitress never came back after our initial drink order. We tracked her down twice and all she could say well everyone is going to the show. After 3 tables were served, which were seated after us, we tracked her down again and she said in a very snarky manner,"you weren't here that long." We asked for the check for our drinks because it was too late now to eat. See said you'll have to see a manager and pointed her out instead of bringing her to us. More time passed when the "manager" finally came back and comped the drinks. This left us without dinner before the show was to begin, when we had a reservation one hour and 45 minuted before showtime. We were met in the parking lot by another employee who asked it there was anything she could do, too little, too late. We like to support local family owned businesses, however we can not recommend since we never got our food. read more

We decided to stop in for a quick lunch since we were in the area. One of the few places that was still offering dine in seating. We got there just before they opened so getting a table wasn't an issue. Talking to the bartender they also have outdoor dining, weather permitting. Their menu is pretty standard for an Irish Pub and they offer typical Irish meals. Comfort food and beer, how could one go wrong. I started off with the French Onion Soup. The soup was delicious, only thing I would have liked to see more onions in it. Still good though. My wife ordered a shepherds pie and I had my go to, fish and chips. The batter was crispy and the fish moist and tender. The shepherds pie was hearty and delicious. We washed it all down with a few Blue Moons and a couple of Long Island Iced Teas. They seem to do OK with their take out. Definitely would give them another go when things get back to normal. Hope that's not too far down the road. read more

I stopped by this wee, fi time there. The place was nice sat down immediately but had to wait about 8 minutes for the waitress to take our drink order ( she really isn't to blame working the outside and inside). I ordered the Rubin my girlfriend ordered the pulled pork. She totally enjoyed her sandwich (reason for the 3 stars and not 1 star), my Rubin was not what I expected it came out with the corned beef minced, it was like eating a mashed potatoes sandwich. I don't consider it a sandwich , I couldn't imagine a restaurant would serve such mush. Needless to say I will not be returning! Which is a shame the place has a nice atmosphere. read more
