Not your normal place, but that is what makes this place so special. You need to try it! The experience is like no other. The cheeses inside of these sandwiches are spectacular. My boyfriend and I came here for lunch today because we were really craving mac and cheese. He was already skeptical because of a previous mac and cheese place we had tried together that turned out to be really bad for him, but we had our fingers crossed since he had heard many good things about this place from friends who work nearby and come often. We were greeted by the friendly gentleman at the counter, who waited patiently as we decided what we wanted to order. We decided to split lunch, so we ordered a lobster grilled cheese + "pomme frites" aka fries ($14.80) and 5 Cheese Mac ($5.90) with a soda for him ($2.25) and water for me ($0). After placing our order, we grabbed our drinks, went to an outside table, and waited for our order. Grater Grilled Cheese makes their own sodas, and my boyfriend did not like the taste of the coke, as he did not get a refill or even finish his drink. When he got me a cup of water, he let the water run for a while as he always does because he knows I don't drink soda (since water and soda come from the same tap), and even then, the water was bubbly. It tasted like the cream soda that it shared a tap with, and also had a very metallic smell to it. Our order arrived, and this is what we thought: Pomme Frites (fries): they are meant to be fries w/ truffle oil, parmesan cheese, and parsley. There was parsley on top, but none of the other ingredients. It tasted like unseasoned fries. We grabbed packets of salt and salted them ourselves and they tasted much better. Their ketchup tasted like it had paprika in it; interesting but not my cup of tea. That would be nice if they had an option for regular ketchup though. 5 Cheese Mac: it came out cold with the cheese not melted on top. It looked like 1 cheese, and bachamel sauce. Definitely not cheesy enough for a mac and cheese with five cheeses. I expect to have a lot of cheese in my mac and cheese, not necessarily DROWNING, but I wasn't expecting to eat pretty much just pasta with a sprinkle of cheese and some bachamel sauce at the bottom. We sprinkled pepper on it (as we always do with mac and cheese) and not even that could save it. We could not finish, and it had to be thrown out. Lobster Grilled Cheese: I tasted the lobster in mine, my boyfriend didn't even though he saw it, and even felt the texture of it in his mouth. He couldn't even finish his half of the sandwich, he said it tasted bland. I'm adding an extra star for the good service from the gentleman at the counter, otherwise it would have been just the one star. read more

The Philly is EVERYTHING. I called in my order and the guy on the phone was friendly and gave me recommendations. When I walked in, somehow he knew it was me who called and helped me with my order. So I stumbled upon this place when my usual Grilled Cheese go-to place, The Melt had a longer wait time. I had the Basic 5 Grilled Cheese. WOW! I love the 5 cheeses in it, but really made it awesome was the Roasted Garlic Aioli. I added Sauteed Mushrooms and Applewood Bacon to it and it was literally the best grilled cheese I have ever had. I had a side of Pommes Frites and Tomato Basic Soup with it as well. Those were good too! I had my nephew and a friend over and ordered for us from here after such a good first impression and two of us had the LA Pastrami Grilled Cheese which were dynamite!!! The 3rd person had the Philly Grilled Cheese and said it was very good too. We all added the Roasted Garlic Aioli and were well rewarded with its addition. Bad News for The Melt. This place will be my first choice when it comes to Grilled Cheeses. The only thing The Melt has going for it is they are open much later by 3-5 hours depending on the day than Grater's. read more

I love grilled cheese sandwiches and when I heard about this place, I knew I had to check it out. Disclaimer: I have not eaten at the actual restaurant as I used Door Dash to order from here. I was tempted by many things on their menu but finally decided on Lobster Grilled Cheese. I love to dunk my grilled cheese in tomato soup, so I ordered a cup of soup on the side. The soup was tasty and bit spicy but a good match to dip my sandwich in. My Lobster Grilled Cheese sandwich was perfectly cooked. It contained their standard five cheese, lobster, krab and beer chipotle aioli. It was tasty combination of ingredients. I enjoyed it with my soup. My fiance ordered thee Cordon Bleu Grilled Cheese and really liked this sandwich as he is a fan of Chicken Cordon Bleu. I snuck some of his fries which I enjoyed dunking in my tomato soup. Yum. I was pleased that all my food arrived hot from Door Dash. I love this place, but twice in the last month I have been given the wrong order. Both times I ordered an avocado grilled cheese (comes with avocado, bacon, and arugula), and instead I received the basic grilled cheese (just cheese). These are pretty differently priced sandwiches. Both times the order was for later at night (around 7pm). Both times I was charged what I ordered and not what I received. Both times the receipt that is stapled to the bag had the right order. Not sure how they messed it up twice when the order is literally stapled to the bag. Do they not double check the order when they put it in? I highly recommend checking your order before leaving.
