Ordered extra Alfredo when we ordered per server suggestion and then had to wait to eat pasta over 5 minutes. We didn't receive silverware upon being sat (had to request 3 times), Caesar salad plates not cleared, service was not attentive. Manager delivered sauce and did not inquire about service. Food was good but not getting water refilled or prompt service detracted from experience. I have had much better service previously. Tiramisu and cappuccino both good. read more

Gratzi is the best Italian food I have found in mid Michigan. The atmosphere is very nice. Has a great upscale vibe to it. My service has always been good. Friendly, attentive staff. I really have no complaints other than it's a bit pricy, but ultimately worth it in my opinion. read more

My sons treated me for my birthday in July 20th. Food was terrible at best. Veal was like cardboard. My shrimp scampi was dry and my son's mezzaluna( short ribs )was dry and tough.. we returned the veal and we suffered through the other two. Server apologized saying it was not the usual quality. Why not? When my late husband was still here we loved to have dinner at your place. I don't think I would risk my money again. I was in Midland, Mi for work last week and someone recommended Gratzi for dinner. They had eaten there the previous week and said it was really good. I shared the Scampi de Gamberetti con Linguine with someone but I could have easily eaten all of it because it was so incredibly good. Everything was cooked to perfection and the shrimp was huge. We also had the Torta al Ciccolato Espresso which was also incredible. We tried the Tiramisu but were disappointed. It was pretty dry and just didn't have a lot of flavor. The prices were very reasonable and the portion sizes were great. If you are in the Midland area this is definitely the place to go if you want great Italian food. read more

My wife and I tried Gratzi two nights ago. The venue is very nice. Food not so much. I had Chicken marsala, My wife had Chicken parmesan. My chicken was very tough. could have used a steak knife. The sauce was watery and had very little marsala flavor. The asparagus was tough as well. My wife's dish had spaghetti with barely any sauce. I could see, from just looking, that the pasta was not covered in sauce. My wife took the leftovers home and applied Kroger sauce and finished it off. Our server was very nice, but it was hard to hear her over the music and background noise. We arrived at 5:15 so i'm not sure if it gets much louder later in the evening. As I mentioned the venue was very nice, I would consider it upscale, especially for Midland. I was surprised that the food did not match the surroundings. I understand the food business is tough to say the least. So was Gratzi's food. The curtains did not match the drapes. We had no drinks besides water. My wife did have a very nice desert and the bill came to $91 including tip. Olive Garden's food is much better. That being said......Yikes it shouldn't be. read more

To start off the restaurant is beautiful. Secondly the server and the hosts were very friendly and very professional. The server also made us feel like he was helping us with the menu not making us feel like we should know Italian! Now for the food the wine selection was amazing the house salad, Miata salad, tasted wonderful my husband and I both got it the vinegar it was phenomenal. I got the fettuccine Alfredo with chicken. We didn't have time to order the Alfredo da tavola, but for sure coming back in order that! We watch them making it and it just looks like a fun table side experience. My husband got the short rib mezzaluna and I tasted it and it was very good he LOVED it and he ate every single bit of it. Service is extremely slow, the food came out and the pasta was hard and stuck in one big glob and cold. The timing is way off on everything. Cocktails took 30 minutes to get to the table... It should not take 3 hours to get through a meal. The bolognese sauce was scant , asked for more and got a bowl of yellow broth. Asked where the meat was and was told that costs extra. This place had potential, but don't plan on going anywhere after you eat here. We didn't order our food until an hour after we sat down, and we didn't receive our food until over an hour after that. We did have a party of 8, so I understand that it was a larger party. However, we were told that the delay was due to trying to obtain a good flow of service, which we did not see at all. We would receive our salads/bread or whatnot, eat that, and then sit for at least 20 minutes after everyone was done, waiting to see our waiter or another course. The food at Gratzi is very good. It always comes out piping hot. We had the coolest experience with a pasta dish that came out sealed in a jar and was shaken at the table and then poured into a bowl. Serving sizes are huge. There is definitely a high end feel to the restaurant but you can still go in jeans. Overall it's a great experience. The cook to order food can take time so make sure you aren't on a tight schedule when you go. The staff is always pleasant. read more

I chose to wait until my second visit to write a review because I wanted to taste more items off the menu. We arrived precisely at our reservation time and based on the people waiting outside the door, I was glad I made a reservation. We were told the dining room was slightly behind but were offered a high top table immediately in the bar area which we chose. The high-top chairs are actually very comfortable. One of the draws for us to Gratzi is the table side preparation of their Fettuccini Alfredo. They bring a half wheel of Parmesan Cheese over and you get to sample the cheese and they pour a saucepan of fresh pasta into the center of the wheel and mix it up with shaved cheese. It's really impressive and tastes amazing. I also ordered the Salumi e Formaggi (meat and cheeses) appetizer. It was very good, especially the fresh mozzarella with the fig jam! After having pasta, meat and cheeses, and some wine, I went with the Insalata di Bruxelles. (Shaved Brussels sprouts, avocado, pinenuts, breadcrumbs, tomato, and watermelon radish all tossed in a lemon-anchovy vinaigrette) I also added some chicken breast to the salad. I probably would have been fine without the chicken. I got full fast. The presentation was spectacular and the flavors of the vegetables worked very well together. The salad was very hearty, more so than normal salads, because the shaved Brussel Sprouts are heavier and more dense than regular lettuces. So if you like having salads for dinner, I highly recommend this one as a meal! The other guests in my party were also very happy with their pastas and portions. The complimentary shot of Limoncello at the end was perfect and tasted amazing! I could have drank more of that! read more

I really enjoyed this restaurant! I loved the Parmesan cheese wheel fettuccine! I ordered the three cheese tortellini for my entree. I thought it was exceptional because it had equal parts pasta and other goodies. I enjoyed whole bites of giant sliced mushrooms, tomatoes, spinach, and prosciutto. The sauce had a great flavor. They offer you a complementary limoncello at the end of your meal, and it's a nice touch! I had never used a tablet as a menu before. If it's your first time, like it was mine, it takes a little longer to look through everything to decide what you want. You can learn a lot about the menu items and see pictures, so that's nice. When they offer you different types of water, you should take them up on it. The tap water has some chlorine flavor. (Being so close to the Dow Chemical Plant?) The other waters are served chilled, so you don't need to put chlorine ice in them. read more

Gratzi Midland has an imposing entry.  It is well made and fits well into the overall scenery of downtown Midland.  It really belongs.  In the entry area you are delighted with a mixture of contemporary lighting, modern furniture and traditional fittings in a setting that is welcoming and warm. I felt immediately at home here.  The head waiter kindly took me to the area where we would be dining.  I was a few minutes early so I was witness to the expertise, caring and art that the staff puts into preparing the dining room and setting the stage for the experience. I had chicken parmigiana.  It was hot and well made.  The menus were interesting, though I was daunted at first, due to the fact that they were some sort of computer.  Once I mastered the basics I was intrigued and entertained but a little concerned because as I was flipping back and forth between high quality images and the menu written in Italian I was having trouble recalling what I found appealing.  I was worried I was going to order the wrong thing.  Thankfully I was able to cover all the bases before they came to take our order. Service was great.  Everything came out on time and prepared impeccably.  It was an enjoyable experience all around.  We were fortunate to have the chef come out and meet with us.  We toasted his leadership and expertise and that of all the staff and management of this fine restaurant.  Prices are reasonable for an out of this world experience.  Great for families, students, executives, business parties or the occasional wedding proposal!  Well done! read more

Hostess turned me away from a two person booth near the bar only to seat two parties at the small booths after me. Plenty of other booth seating around the bar. Bartender was nice but seemed to drop the ball...generally took a while and misplaced the order (I looked at the receipt) so when the food came out it was the wrong protein. The kitchen took forever getting it right. Just pretty bad service. Food was a mix of bad salad but pretty tasty pasta and fish. I think this could be a 3 or a 4 (maybe) if I hadn't spent over an hour sitting around doing a lot of waiting in seating that wasn't my preference. read more

Let me start off by staying I'm from a very Italian family and an area where the Italian cuisine is exceptional. Upon moving to Saginaw, I was dismayed at the utter lack of good Italian food. Enter Gratzi, my savior! The food, service, wine, and ambience here are all top notch. This is the place where I'd take my family when visiting and wouldn't be embarrassed. I can personally recommend the Brussels sprouts appetizer, risotto balls, pizza with prime rib and arugula, tomato soup, and fettuccine alfredo. We met a few others here for dinner. First off the air conditioning wasn't working. Wasn't a huge deal but it was definitely warm. 4 of us order various pizzas. 3 of them were brought to the table ice cold. Myself and my son were very hungry since we waited nearly an hour for food so we started eating it anyway. One of the others with us complained and they brought out a new one which was hot. We surprised a friend here for a birthday dinner. The service was excellent. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. We ordered the Brussels sprouts which were wonderful. We also ordered the Alfredo da Tavola experience as an appetizer for the table. It was absolutely amazing and delicious. My daughter, a pasta lover, thoroughly enjoyed the pappardelle bolognese. My husband said the salmon grigliato was very good. I ordered the oricchette carbonara. It came in a large jar which was heated to "cook" the egg yolk. So this place is amazing especially for Midland. Upscale yet casual. Everything is scratch made and most of it comes from Italy. Their parmigiano originano is what to go there for. It's unbelievable. There is this great big wheel to scrape cheese off of and they will even make you fettuccine Alfredo tableside. They only use the wheel for a week before they shred it up and use it in ingredients and use a new wheel. I have had their cheese and meat board a couple of times and it's outstanding, their Caesar salad is very strong Cesar taste of which I love and all of their pastas are cooked to order. read more

Gratzi was incredible! My mom came to visit me for the weekend but I live in Mount Pleasant and there aren't many "nice" places in Mount Pleasant, so we went to Midland and found this place on Yelp! The food was absolutely delicious and the drinks were great. Our server was so sweet and so helpful in suggesting food. The atmosphere was calm and inviting and it's a great place to meet friends if you're in the mood for a fancier meal. I would 100% recommend eating here if you're in the Midland area. read more

Great food, wonderful service and smart looking atmosphere. But let me expound for you on those points We met family here at 6 pm on Sunday evening and we were seated in the bar area. Casual dining experience with views of Main Street (not that exciting of a view but at least not a wall). The booths are comfortable and the high top tables at the window would be fun to sit at too. The decor is simple yet somewhat elegant but I didn't feel uncomfortable in jeans . The restaurant never really got busy, at least not to a point where we really noticed an uptick of noise. We ordered pre dinner drinks. I got the sangria which was tasty but maybe needed to be a bit sweeter. Others ordered a berry bubbly which she liked and an old fashioned and he thought it was fantastic! Bread came to the table but we had to ask for olive oil and balsamic. Olive oil seemed a little light for my taste but it worked for the bread. Our appetizer came which was the meatball pizza. Yummy crust, nice sauce and adequate toppings. Enough for the four of us to share. A person in our party ordered the chicken soup (sorry I won't be quoting the Italian names from the menu) and that would also be good for lunch with the yummy bread. I ordered the filet espresso medium rare, more to the rare side and that's pretty much how it came. The espresso coating was not something I've had before and I didn't particularly like the way it crusted. It reminded me of burnt coffee, bleck. But it was slight enough that I still enjoyed the steak but I probably wouldn't order again. I sampled what everyone ordered...the chicken something or other with spaghetti - delicious with a tasty tomato sauce, "little ear" pasta with pancheta (?) and chicken in a light cheesy kind of sauce - loved how Chris, our server, brought this to the table in a jar and literally shook it up to mix and poured it into the bowl! And finally the bolognese - also tasty with the correct firmness for the pasta. A bottle of The Prisoner complemented our dinner perfectly and is a remarkable wine! For dessert we shared the gelato covered with espresso and creme brulee. Both excellent but that espresso was dee-lish! I also had a regular coffee which was good but I'd probably have a double espresso next time, it was that good! To end the evening Chris poured us each a shot of limoncello to which we toasted family! We ended up staying until closing but never felt rushed or that they wanted us to leave.
