I chose this…read morecompany based on location and called ahead to confirm they could do more than just read basic codes. I had already done my own diagnostics and knew the car was running rich. I had ruled out the upstream O2 sensor, catalytic converter (both new), MAP sensor, and fuel injectors. I explained all of this to Matt before bringing the car in. He assured me they could perform deeper diagnostics with their equipment. After dropping off the car, Matt called and told me they had "confirmed" exactly what I had already told them, and that the next step would be pulling spark plugs--for an additional fee. At that point, I decided to go elsewhere. What I don't understand is why I was still charged the full $85 diagnostic fee, plus a $4 hazardous materials fee and $3 shop supply fee. Plugging a car into a diagnostic scanner does not generate any hazardous waste--no fluids are drained, no chemicals are used, and no parts are replaced. There's nothing about a basic scan that would justify a hazardous materials charge. That kind of fee typically applies when disposing of things like oil, coolant, or other regulated waste, none of which occurred here. In the end, I paid $92, wasted time and gas, and learned nothing new. The most concerning part was Matt admitting he didn't even know spark plugs would need to be checked as part of further diagnosis.

Our family's Ford Explorer required a water pump replacement…read more I visited several local auto shops to obtain quotes and was shocked, disappointed, and discouraged at the prices I was being quoted for the work my vehicle required ($5,000-$7,500) Shame on me for not reading Yelp reviews before wasting my time visiting other auto shops. I read the many positive reviews for Hye-Tech Auto Repair and decided to visit them. Upon entering, I was greeted by John (owner) with a friendly, "Welcome, how may I help you?" I explained that my Ford Explorer needed a new water pump and a few other items that other auto shops had advised me would require repair or replacement. While John looked up a few items on the computer to provide me with a quote, he introduced me to his son, Harry, who happened to be in the office. Thirty seconds later, John provided a quote that was $3,500-$4,000 less than the other shops. I could not believe it. John explained that he makes his living and succeeds in his business through repeat customers, and he does not believe in gouging customers for every last penny. He also shared that when he retires, his son Harry will take over the business, and he wants to leave Harry with a solid foundation of loyal repeat customers. It was then that I knew I could trust John and his son Harry. John went on to explain that replacing the water pump on a Ford Explorer was a 10-12 hour job, as it was an internal pump requiring numerous engine parts to be removed to reach it. This was the same thing all the other shops advised me. John suggested that I leave my vehicle, and he would perform a full inspection of the engine and contact me before doing anything to it. I agreed and left my vehicle. The following day, I was contacted by John, who advised me that the water pump did indeed need to be replaced, as it was the source of the constant leaks of the water coolant. I left my vehicle in John's shop for three days. During this time, John or his son, Harry, contacted me numerous times to keep me updated on the progress of my vehicle and also to point out that mechanics had discovered two or three very inexpensive items (under $50.00) which they recommended replacing, which I agreed to have done. All in all, I was and am extremely impressed and satisfied with everything about this shop. I spent much less money to have five different issues repaired on my vehicle at Hye-Tech than what I was quoted to replace my water pump alone by every single shop I visited prior to coming to Hye-Tech. John and Harry are very friendly, honest, and trustworthy. They are also very knowledgeable and experienced, and they offer GREAT customer service and communication. This is my new go-to shop for any issues involving our family vehicles. Thank you, Hye-Tech Auto Repair, for a very positive experience.

As a first-time customer, I brought my '79 El Camino to this shop because the car was idling high…read more After the service, I paid $500. They replaced my intake manifold gasket, BUT a P0200 engine code appeared afterward. I went back the next day and explained the issue. They told me they had left an injector unplugged and instructed me to clear the code, saying it would reset. The code was P0200, so I followed their instructions and cleared it. The code went away. The next day, I drove the car and it suddenly started shaking while sitting at red lights -- something it had never done in the five years I've owned this car. I checked the engine codes again, and P0200 had returned. I went back again and explained what I had experienced. They then told me that, in order to address the P0200 issue, they would first have to start by checking for vacuum leaks. This is where I became frustrated. P0200 is an injector circuit malfunction code, so I didn't understand why I was being told that I needed to start with vacuum leaks in order to address that specific code. I had already paid $500 for the initial service, and now I was dealing with a new engine code and a new shaking issue that the car had never had in the five years I've owned it. After declining any further service, I picked up my car from the shop. I then noticed a scratch along with a missing piece of rubber trim on my front bumper. I had not noticed either issue before bringing my car to the shop. The shop claimed they did not hit anything with the car, but they are also ordering me a replacement rubber piece. Overall, this was an extremely frustrating experience. As a first-time customer, I came in expecting to have my original issue addressed, paid $500 for the service, and left with a new engine code, a new shaking issue, and damage/missing trim that I had not noticed before bringing the car in. Based on my experience, I won't be returning. I would recommend that anyone considering this shop be aware of what happened to me and carefully inspect their vehicle before leaving the shop. I managed to get it over the Grapevine, but unfortunately it broke down again and I eventually had it towed to their shop. Being so far from home with my family and not knowing what was wrong with the car was extremely stressful. They weren't able to work on it that same day, but they got started on it Monday, diagnosed the problem, and went above and beyond with the repair. Instead of just replacing one failed part, they replaced the related components in the system so I wouldn't have to worry about another failure shortly afterward. What really impressed me was that they managed to get everything finished around 4:00 PM, which gave me enough time to make the long drive all the way back to San Francisco that same day. The repair wasn't cheap, but after driving the car home, I feel it was worth every penny. The entire drive back was smooth with absolutely no issues, and honestly, the car feels even smoother than it did before. Most importantly, they took a situation that had me extremely worried and gave me peace of mind. I'm incredibly grateful for the quality of their work, how quickly they got it done, and how helpful they were throughout the process. Thank you to everyone at Bauer German Car Repair for getting me and my BMW safely back on the road and back home to San Francisco. You definitely earned these five stars!

He's the only reason this isn't an even harsher experience to write about. That said, the actual detailing service was extremely disappointing. My car was there for 9 hours, and it honestly looks like it was worked on for maybe 20-30 minutes at the very end of the day. The seats weren't shampooed, and overall the job felt rushed and incomplete. For $145, I expected a thorough detail--not something I could've done myself in under half an hour. I have respect for the front desk staff, but whoever handled the detailing on my car seriously needs to be addressed. Based on this experience, I can't recommend their detailing services. Hopefully, they're better at their actual mechanical work than this.

The most honest and trustworthy auto repair shop I've ever been to!…read more I brought my 2016 Chevy Malibu to the Chevrolet dealership because I had water accumulating under the passenger-side carpet. The dealership quoted me $3,000 for the repair. Before spending that kind of money, I decided to get a second opinion from TK Auto Repair -- and I'm so glad I did! They carefully inspected the car and found that the problem was actually a damaged AC drain hose. They explained exactly what was wrong and told me to go to an auto parts store to purchase the replacement hose. I brought the part back, and they installed it for me. And here is the unbelievable part: they didn't charge me anything. $0. They spent a significant amount of time diagnosing the problem, checking the car, and installing the hose, and they still refused to charge me for their labor. The mechanic was also incredibly hardworking and careful. He was literally kneeling on the ground and working on my car the entire time, taking the job very seriously and making sure everything was done properly. The difference between being quoted $3,000 at the dealership and paying $0 at TK Auto Repair says everything about how honest these guys are. They could have easily taken advantage of the situation, but instead they helped me solve the actual problem. I'm incredibly grateful and will definitely come back here for any future car repairs.
