Came in to the Farmer's Market after sitting through hours of traffic and needing a break. Found a seat at EB's bar, grabbed a drink, met some regulars that were friendly, and took in the ambiance. It was a very nice spot to sit with a beer and some food after a long drive - great vibes to relax. Big props to the bartender, Julie. She said she just got hired there, but you would have thought she had been there for years, as she never let my drink sit empty and was a riot to converse with. If you want want a more authentic St. Patrick's celebration - don't go here. It'd be ok enough if you have low expectations for real traditional St. Pat's and just want to go somewhere, hang out, people-watch eat at the stalls and drink. Which is pretty much what was going on there. The traditional Irish music scene here in LA has been lacking for years. But the Market's music offerings in general when it comes to talent used to be far better. To my chagrin, my Guinness was served in a plastic cup with "Coors" written on it. And it felt short-poured as well. Other customers had actual beer glasses with "Guiness" written on them. For $8/pint plus tip, I expected more; it's not like I was there late in the day. Final straw when I returned for a second beer, this time actually specifically asking for a proper glass, as the others said they had done, and the bartender insolently snapped at me that those were only for the "regulars." Clearly, they were NOT - which actually even made me feel discriminated against, to be honest. Several people around me who had proper beer glasses, were given festive shamrock necklaces, lived far away and were by their own admittance were not "regulars." Me? Zip. When I pointed this out, the bartender quite shockingly snapped rudely: "I'm not going to argue with you" and then complied, sullenly pouring my second beer into a regular, "boring-but-at-least-glass" tumbler - no Guinness beer glass or Guinness logo. But at least it wasn't plastic and didn't have that "Coors" logo on the side. Seriously??? I then asked for the mgr and located her at one of their other vars, frantically tallying receipts at another of the two bars on-site. TOTALLY understood that she was really slammed. I've worked such jobs before. So I just waited for awhile because at least at that particular bar (they appear to be under same ownership), they had piped -in traditional Irish pub music, the bartenders were friendly and efficient, and it was pretty festive/hopping there. And...those customers all got THEIR beverages served in real glassware. When the mgr. was finally free, she genuinely apologized and said they had not been provided with enough glassware. Ok, get it. Had my bartender explained it that way, I would have understood. She explained that particular bar didn't have Guinness - just California beers but agreed to pour me some indiscriminate stout, which was pretty bad. I took two sips and walked off. DEFINITELY inferior to Guinness. And again, I had to ASK rather than her immediately offering to make things right. Which for me would have consisted of a refund, or else going over to the other bar and giving me a friggin' Guinness glass - on PRINCIPLE - at this point! Also frustrating is that in this discourse between us, I myself had to take the initiative to suggest she offer me at least something to make up for this lousy experience. So...depending on your standards, I'd suggest not wasting your time and money at E.B.'s It's been around forever; this review will likely have them snarking and not caring. Nor will it likely negatively impact them one bit.The Original Farmers Market is a wonderful old, historic tourist attraction and we locals love it, too. Another reason why this experience was so upsetting. How the mighty have fallen. If you want some kind of enjoyable, festive and FUN St. Patrick's experience, I'd suggest skipping E.B.'s, and if you do insist on going to the famous Market's St. Patricks Day event, and are ok with the middle bar not having Guinness or certain other classic imports, I'd stick with that one, instead. read more

What a delightful bartender and new friend! :) My coworker and I are located at CBS TV City for a few weeks and decided to see what the Grove/Farmer's Market has to offer for after-work libations. After scoping out the Farmer's Market options, we were informed of a bar in the back....alllllllll the way in the back (opposite from the Grove side). A perfect bar, attached to a food spot, with tables as well as bar seating. There was a nice variety of beers from Bud Light to Cider to IPAs. Whatever you want, George will be able to find something that will tickle your tastebuds. We had such a nice time there and will definitely try to visit again during our short time working in the area. They also have TVs so you can watch sports! read more

Jacqui kept avoid my friend and I (latinas) and kept serving all the white or white passing guests around us. Really left a bad taste. Her actions seemed very discriminatory and very diminishing of our presence. I ended up only grabbing one drink as it took her over 10 minutes to even acknowledge our presence, even being so petty as to going back to the same people she served over and over instead of even saying hello or asking us what we would like to have. We've tried this bar on my last visit to the Farmer's Market. The beer selection it's just OK, could be improved, especially the ones on draft. Maybe a few darker brews could be added? The actual bar area is small, but decent, can't say I'm a fan of their TV-s. $6 regular price for a beer is OK. $4 for H.H. M-F. We tried the 805, it's a Firestone brew, Pale Ale, just OK, it lacks some bite. Service is very slow, I'm pretty patient, but it took forever to get that beer! Just one person working, she was nice, but they might need more people working here. An OK place to stop by for a drink while having a snack or dinner. Or just a drink at the bar. read more

Dont be a foul lazy beast. Walk you lazy gurth 2 feet to the right and top it off without any lip. Its that kind of sedative lifestyle that got you out of lane bryant stores and straight in to truckers catelogs for clothing. You actually suggested that I walk my fit ass to a water fountain. We had about $40.00 on the tab when you your lazyness presented itself. You are terrible at what you do. Your work space is 7 feet square and you were put out to get a person water while i was buying pitchers of you beer. Unreal. Best of luck. Im sure you are having an amazing life. If you see this load of uselessness, Just either leave or set your bar so low that its basically just laying on the ground. With that said. I do love it there when 6 necks isnt taking up space behind the bar. Its a great place to spend a sat or sunday if the weather is nice. Tons of people watching and great customers. EB's is so underrated. I had brunch at the Farmer's Market with a mate of mine. I was undergoing intense hangover revival from going out in Downtown. We walked around and looked up to find EB's before us. Being a 80 degree LA day, I noticed a champagne split for $4. Yup, four measly dollar bills. I snatched it right up and the guy brought out a chilled, genuine, champagne flight. My mate had a red wine, which they filled to the brim. No, not one of those cheesy half glass pours but one of those I-need-to-sip-it-in-order-not-to-spill pours. I think we spent twenty bucks to be buzzed. Fantastic! After that nightmare of talking about phallus beer tabs with Green Bay & Eagles fans we some how stumbled on the other side of the farmers market. My god I can't take you anywhere! EB's has over 30 draft and bottled beers and a dozen select wines. They have this weird concoction where you can get a half and half. Interesting to wonder "How do they do that?" I don't know honestly. Rocket science maybe? Oops EJ did I just say rocket? hehe ;) It's tucked away between a sandmich shop and some italian joint which was a bad idea because I found myself drooling over the good lookin' food like a hot guy at a bar. I love not only having the option of sampling beer, which EB does, and sampling the food around me. The sample beers were 5 oz-ers (something like that) with five different beers. Or if your daring you got 20 samples. By the way this is a CASH ONLY bar. If your asking yourself where I put all this beer I honestly can't tell you. My experience here was horrible!!!!! Only because of this RUDE waitress named MELISSA. Frankly I feel she should be fired on behalf of how she treated not just myself but my mom and my aunt as well. She spoke to us as if we were "less than". My mom asked her for another glass of wine because a fly was in it and she said a rude remark under breath than slammed the glass of wine on the bar and walked away. I love it here, I don't know what it is about the place, but I just love being here. It's nice having a beer bar in the farmers market. I usually find myself wanting to grab a beer here just because of the atmosphere. The prices and the selection are average, it's just the parking that would get you. Parking is free for 2 hours after you get validation, but the parking lot is usually very busy and crowded. I spend about 5-10 minutes driving around the tiny parking lot behind other cars looking for a space. I get lucky at times, but I have left before from the frustration. Don't park at the Grove's parking structure and expect to get validation though! read more

At the original Farmer's Market on Fairfax and Third on the west end of the foodcourt lies one of the best bars in Los Angeles. EB's has daily beer specials for $3.50 a bottle. This special lasts all day long! The selection depends on which day you go. Each week the daily specials change. No Budwiser or Coors specials here, they are usually, Peroni, Singha, Modelo, Foster's, etc. EB's only serves alcohol, but the choices of foods surrounding the bar are numerous. If you don't want the drink special, they also have more than a dozen beers on tap, other bottle beers and a great selection of wines. They also sell beer by the pitcher. So if you want to have a drink with your meal, or sit for a while, this place will accommodate you. All the seating is outdoors but covered, on cooler days or nights, they turn on the heat lamps that are more than sufficient to keep you warm. Another great thing about this place is that on Thursday and Friday nights, there is always a live performance. This can range from Jazz to country to pop, there's always something different. But if you want something a bit quieter, you can grab a table (first come first serve, but plentiful) away from the crowd. read more

a tiny booth of a bar in the FARMER'S MARKET section of THE GROVE. i can't comment on the BEER or WINE selection, except that there seemed a fair amount of choices. had a tiny bottle of SAKE that kicked my butt without even finishing it. with 30 minutes till FROZEN at the theater, it started to rain. i pulled up the hood on my sweater, walking between the buildings at THE GROVE however, once in a well-enclosed FARMER'S MARKET section, not a drop touched me. an interesting crowd at EB's BEER AND WINE on a Wednesday night. a friendly woman to my right, readying UNO CARDS for the arrival of a friend, who came with a WHOLE COOKED LOBSTER from a neighboring booth, along with macaroni salad, baked potatoes, and all the fixins. we had a friendly conversation as she waited for her friend. also at the counter: a couple Scottish men who appeared to know each other as they struck up a conversation across the booth. and some other characters. i was right in the middle of everything EBs. great fun. happy Yelping and here's to tasting life! :) read more

Pretty cool bar in the Farmers Market near the front entrance right across from Gumbo Pot. So get your food there or the pizza place next door or the Korean BBQ spot diagonally across and bring it here because they've got no food at this stand. What they do have is a decent beer selection with about 10 taps and lots of bottle choices and decent service and prices. Taps max out at $5.50 a pour as of the date I write this. It's located right near the stage for all the music events so it can get loud and hard to communicate when that transpires. But a good spot for a good brew in the FM at the PM. read more
