Outdated rooms. Service at the front desk was less than spectacular. With check in we were just given keys and no details were discussed as they typically are at check in. Hotel was good location for visiting yellowstone but super overpriced. It is however farther walking distance than other hotels to restaurants.

Free refillable water bottle is a nice keepsake, courtesy of the hotel.

I stayed here for three nights during a recent visit to Yellowstone National Park. Lots of plusses. The hotel is very close to the Park entrance and in a small tourist area dense with places to eat and shop. The room was clean and spacious enough. The beds were very comfortable, and I slept well. The hotel provided complimentary breakfast -- a self-serve set-up that included beverages, bagels and croissants, cereals, fruit, energy bars and more. There's a fire pit in a patio area in front of the hotel where you can make s'mores in the evening. Staff were friendly and helpful. A very nice perk is the free refillable water bottles that they give to guests upon request at the front desk. I'd stay here again.

An unplugged remote pest (bed bug) monitoring device,

I don't get the 5 star reviews. I paid nearly $1200 for 2 adults for 2 nights and yet it was the dirtiest hotel room I've ever rented in 60+ years! This hotel is out to gouge Yellowstone tourists on price, just like all the rest in West Yellowstone, yet it's just an average hotel with a few large suites that are the size of an efficiency, but it is old and DIRTY. That's right, the rooms are dirty, so brace yourself for that! I grew up on a farm, and camp outdoors often, and it was too dirty for me, so some of you wouldn't be able to tolerate this level of dirt and grime. Our room had filthy dirty carpet that hadn't been shampooed in the past 2 years. I even found a long lost Bissell vacumn nozzle way back behind the headboard, next to the BED BUG MONITORING DEVICES. The couch was so filthy, it should be tossed out or burned, it looked like something you'd see ar the curb, and was also worn out. I was uncomfortable about bed bugs just sitting on it. The ugly coffee table, likewise looked like something you'd see at the curb for the garbage men to haul away, it had long and plentiful scratches all over it. We arrived late and had to pay in advance, so we couldn't change hotels. The mattresses were very old, but not uncomfortable. The suite was roomy and had a fridge, microwave, pots, silverware, a big PRO. But the CON was we had to check the beds for bedbugs, as the dirty room screamed "bedbugs". One queen mattress had a zip-up cover, the other did not (why?), and thankfully no bedbugs. Instead, we found wall-mounted electronic BED BUG MONITORING DEVICES installed at the head of each bed, thus confirming our suspicions to check for bed bugs. But, one of the two repeller devices mounted at the head of each queen matress was unplugged?? Again, why? And for how long??Why buy and install electronic bed bug repellers and leave one unplugged? Wary of bed bug issues, we made sure to set our suitcases on the racks, and in the tub, off the obviously dirty and long-overdue-for-replacement ugly brown carpeting. The breakfast was just so-so. No real food. Nothing to brag about. Not a real breakfast with scrambled eggs or bacon or sausage on either day. They did provide two nice bottles of mineral water in the fridge. And, there is a filtered water dispenser near the lobby. Two PROs. A major CON is that there is only one elevator and it's located at the far rear end of the entire hotel, which caused us headaches. What really pissed me off is that after gouging me with the highest hotel room fees I ever paid in my life, they tried to charge me some junk amenity fees on check-out: $15.00/night amenity fee??? For what amenity? The bottled water? The bed bug monitoring? I paid for a suite and got a grimy dirty suite with old worn out furniture and dirty carpet, a joke of a breakfast and non-functional bed bug monitors, and they wanna sneak in an extra junk charge on checkout, without a word about it on check-in?? It's just too much. How greedy! I made them reverse their sneaky amenity fee, and you should, too. After all, you'll need to do your own bed bug monitoring, and if you expect clean carpets, you better just go rent a carpet shampooer, cause these folks don't give a damn about the cleanliness of your room. This hotel needs new management, new carpeting, new furniture throughout. And a better breakfast. I'd never stay there again. Don't say I didn't warn you. We loved Yellowstone but we'd never stay here again.

The heater/a/c unit was trouble. Either too hot or too cold. House keeping was anxious to get in in the morning. Tapping on the door at 8 AM; banging on the door at 9 AM. Checkout is 11. I checked. The coffee machine had leftover coffee grinds in it. Otherwise a typical room: clean and not too tight.

Adorable stuffie they leave ( extra $25 charge to your room )

AMAZING STAY!!! I will recommend this place to anyone! Beautiful area, beautiful hotel, beautiful amenities. Staff go above and beyond for customers. Highly recommend! Neighbors were kinda loud but not the hotels fault. Still really enjoyed our stay and we will be returning!

UPDATE: Moved to 337. Clearly an upgraded room. So there are rooms here in better shape than others. Have know idea the rhyme or reason so ASK! Look I know booked during July 4 holiday at America's park. $315/night well it's high season and the location is terrific. Yes they have EV charging in the garage, but superchargers are across the street. Highlight would be Mary's excellent and experienced information about the park. Other than that book elsewhere try another entrance to the park. The rooms need updating. Room 235 -HVAC systems are old loud and don't work unless you want to sleep w cold air blowing in you. -We had paint chips on the bathroom, now the ceiling is leaking obviously from the previous repair that didn't work. And they have no where to love us. So we are in a room for $315/night w a leaking bathroom ceiling -Unless you're in the room during the day not likely - there isn't enough light -Wi-Fi doesn't work -Coffee machine sits in the bathroom - really? -Lower floors sit next to parking lot They need to rehab this place and make rooms worth $315 even during high season outside of a National Park. Would not recommend until further rehab.

The room was spacious, having a side table for us to spread out. Beds were very comfortable. The restaurant where the breakfast was served was a cozy room with a nice Western vibe. Good country music played in the background. Breakfast was your basic kind of hotel food-I did like the variety of cold items like the yogurt selection and the cereal selection. The lobby served coffee, hot apple cider, and hot cocoa with marshmallows which was nice after our long tour of Yellowstone National Park. The lobby of the hotel was nicely decorated for the Fall with a beautiful Fall themed Christmas Tree. The pool and hot tub were nice and spacious and they had a water slide which was fast, but fun. A plus was it was located in the end of town so it was nice and quiet. Quick 5-7 minute walk to the center of town. Only minor dislikes were the shower where there were no grab bars and that the TV didn't work so well. Someone came in to fix it though. The tub also clogged with water during showers. Would recommend! Thank you for a great stay!

Our room had two king beds and was very clean and comfortable. The breakfast each morning had plenty of choices and the food was very tasty. I also have to give a big shoutout to the Hotel Manager who kindly made the effort to ship back to my home a backpack that I carelessly left in the lobby during checkout.

Highly recommended as it came with our room. The room was clean, decorated, the beds were comfortable, and the air conditioning was excellent. The TV had a wide selection of channels, and it all worked correctly and was clean. Yes, this hotel may be costing just a little bit more. Since we will know, most likely not be back to Yellowstone I will tell you the truth in stating that they are under pricing their rooms at this place . They should be asking $100 more a night. Conservative estimate of everything that I've seen throughout all different hotel states and areas. They need to up their rates because they are actually too low by at least 20 to 40%. When we have breakfast, we watched a head, waiter training, a newer waiter. I was actually watching in a managerial way to see if he was following the correct way to train new employees. He was perfect and followed every single cell. They were polite, respectful, and their jobs extremely well. We really appreciated that Highly recommend

The cabins were comfortable in size, extremely clean, and very well set up for a Yellowstone trip. The kitchenette was especially useful for us, and having a dishwasher was a great bonus. The location really could not be beat -- it was very close to the West Yellowstone entrance, which helped us avoid a lot of traffic and made it easy to structure our days in the park. We were able to see the upper part of Yellowstone one day, the lower part another day, and then use the rest of our time to revisit and explore the places we wanted to see more deeply. The staff were also extremely friendly and helpful, which added to the overall experience. Another nice touch was the fire pits, which they turned on around 5 p.m. each evening. It was a fun and relaxed way to meet some of the other people staying at the cabins. Overall, we were very happy with our stay. Comfortable cabins, a great location, friendly staff, and a really enjoyable atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Explorer Cabins ended up being an excellent home base for our family's five-night Yellowstone trip…read more While they aren't luxury cabins and won't be mistaken for a boutique mountain resort, they do a remarkable job of balancing privacy, convenience, and access to amenities in a way that works particularly well for families. The biggest surprise for us was how intimate the property feels. Although the cabins are nestled between two hotels, thoughtful landscaping, mature pines, and the positioning of the cabins along small side streets create an atmosphere that feels much closer to being inside Yellowstone than staying in a traditional roadside hotel. Most cabin clusters consist of only a handful of units and feature shared hammocks and a communal fire pit, which made for pleasant evenings after long days exploring the park. The cabins themselves are comfortable and functional. They aren't outfitted with particularly premium finishes, nor are they especially modern, but they are well laid out and seem designed with practicality in mind. Housekeeping arrived fairly early during our stay, but we never found it intrusive. Small touches such as complimentary bottled water in the cabin, s'mores packages available for purchase, and fresh cookies at the nearby Gray Wolf Inn front desk in the early evening add a bit of fun to the experience. One of the more underrated benefits is access to the amenities at the neighboring Gray Wolf Inn & Suites. Explorer Cabin guests can use the indoor pool and laundry facilities, allowing you to enjoy some traditional hotel conveniences while maintaining the feel of staying in a small cabin community. Location is another major strength if you are staying in West Yellowstone (you still cannot beat inside Yellowstone itself for easy access). Parking was plentiful both in designated lots and along the streets within the property, and once parked, we found ourselves walking almost everywhere. McDonald's is less than a two-minute walk away, while Book Peddler, West Yellowstone Brewing, Mountain Mama's Coffee, Wild West Pizzeria, and the Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center are all within an easy five-minute stroll. For those entering Yellowstone early in the morning, the cabin location also provides a modest advantage by allowing a relatively easy right turn toward the West Entrance, avoiding some of the traffic that can build coming into town from the highway on busy summer days. Final Thoughts: Explorer Cabins may not offer the luxury finishes of a high-end mountain lodge, but they succeed at something arguably more important for many Yellowstone visitors: creating a comfortable, family-friendly base camp that feels a little more immersive and a little less commercial than many lodging options in West Yellowstone. We'd happily stay here again and would especially recommend them to families looking for a balance of privacy, amenities, walkability, and easy park access. -AC
