I called to complain and the person who I talked to said that is why it was 50% off and it was not returnable. I said rather than you writing off the loss for a freezer defect you sold bad ice cream to customers and he hung up on me. After 18 years... this is my last visit to Pokerville Market. This is horrible that they let the ice cream defrost and re-freeze and sell it! Who does this!!!

My husband was even quicker. After visiting Calaveras Big Trees State Park on a colder Monday in October, we made a stop at their deli because we remembered eating a sandwich there 10 years ago or so. Our memory served us well as the Giant Sequoia sandwich was fabulous: Dutch Crunch bread, bacon, avacado, turkey, lettuce, tomato, and more. The service was quick and the sandwich was great. At 7:01, an announcement came on saying the store had been closed for one minute and to head to the register. Totally fair. I needed one more thing from produce so I hurried- another announcement at 7:02 said to "stop shopping- we are closed" I grabbed my last item and went up front. By 7:03, I was already being checked out. And yet the reaction from staff was... unbelievable. There were several employees standing at the front just staring at me--clearly irritated, like I'd personally ruined their evening. It was three minutes past closing. Not 30. Not 15. Three. Then it somehow got worse. They were out of bags (understandable), so I asked if I could use the hand basket to carry my items to my car, which was literally parked right in front of the doors to the store. I was told no, "these baskets cant leave the store"--and that I needed to go outside and get a cart instead. So I had to run out, grab a cart, and come back in... while the entire staff stood there watching me. There must have been 6 or 7 employees glaring at me with dirty looks like I had insulted them personally. The older checker was grumpy and rude, but honestly the whole team contributed to making the experience feel hostile and unwelcoming. I completely understand wanting to close on time. But if ringing someone up at 7:03 feels like a crisis to your staff, that's a management issue--not a customer problem. Also- why not sell reusable bags if you run out of bags so often? I would have bought one to make it faster for me to exit the store. Seems like a simple solution to avoid the extreme stress your staff is experiencing

So we tweaked our order and still scored 3 great sandwiches. 3 sizes of sandwiches based on amount of meat was a new concept. Middle size was perfect (6 ounces, I believe). Toppings were fresh and plentiful. Checked out the prices and fairly reasonable for the convenience. Cold beers were spot on!

It's definatly hand crafted as they advertize. It's a time consuming process, the making of the burrito and there was a line when we got there. There was a family of two, infront of us getting 3 burritos so there was a wait. Knowing it's hand crafted should take away from your impatience. I have been in here to buy stuff. I have been in here to use the restroom. I've never been treated differently. I've always been treated very kind and nice. I'm able to come in here and buy snacks and all the pricing is pretty good. They do have everything that every Safeway has which is really nice. You know what to expect you can get vegetables you can get meat. You can get all kinds of things and just because this is the only Safeway or grocery store in the area they don't have their prices raised in a super huge bracket which a lot of stores would do just because they're the only one in the neighborhood

I remember visiting Fork Lift like 10 years ago and really liking it - it is a sister store of Nugget Market I believe. The inside was massive, clean and well organized. My husband and I wanted to buy one of everything! Their produce section had every fruit and vegetable imaginable - it was also very visually aesthetically pleasing! I loved seeing their bulk spices, nuts, teas and candy options! Their butcher shop and fish section looked very fresh and can we talk about their massive cheese selections!? I was very impressed and they even had my favorite coffee for sale which is hard to find - the Blue Bottle Nola milk cartons. Overall, this would be my grocer of choice if we lived in the area - check out staff was also very friendly! Check them out!
