a gas pump with a sign on top

I love stopping at this gas station if I need to fuel up while driving on 88. Anytime we go camping in summer, or if we're snowboarding at Kirkwood in winter, we usually stop here for a snack or restroom break. Mostly recently we pulled the Explorer in, running on fumes after a trip to Nevada. Their gas pumps are super old-school which is very fitting for the station. Friendly clerks inside and a clean outdoor porta potty.

Clean and well kept; however, they have no public restroom. Imagine that - on a major California highway, Hwy 88, without a public restroom.

I walked into Big Trees Market at 6:50 PM last night (3/31) to grab a few quick items. There were…read morestill multiple customers shopping--completely normal. At 7:01, an announcement came on saying the store had been closed for one minute and to head to the register. Totally fair. I needed one more thing from produce so I hurried- another announcement at 7:02 said to "stop shopping- we are closed" I grabbed my last item and went up front. By 7:03, I was already being checked out. And yet the reaction from staff was... unbelievable. There were several employees standing at the front just staring at me--clearly irritated, like I'd personally ruined their evening. It was three minutes past closing. Not 30. Not 15. Three. Then it somehow got worse. They were out of bags (understandable), so I asked if I could use the hand basket to carry my items to my car, which was literally parked right in front of the doors to the store. I was told no, "these baskets cant leave the store"--and that I needed to go outside and get a cart instead. So I had to run out, grab a cart, and come back in... while the entire staff stood there watching me. There must have been 6 or 7 employees glaring at me with dirty looks like I had insulted them personally. The older checker was grumpy and rude, but honestly the whole team contributed to making the experience feel hostile and unwelcoming. I completely understand wanting to close on time. But if ringing someone up at 7:03 feels like a crisis to your staff, that's a management issue--not a customer problem. Also- why not sell reusable bags if you run out of bags so often? I would have bought one to make it faster for me to exit the store. Seems like a simple solution to avoid the extreme stress your staff is experiencing

We also went to the deli and got a breakfast burrito. I wished we each got our own it was so good. I belive it was $5.99 for either the sandwich or the burrito. It all came from the deli case. We got the Bacon, Potato, and Egg Burrito. They have eggs precooked in disks and they tear up the backon and add potatoes from the fried chicken section of the deli, and they chop everything up and put it in there oven to melt the cheese and then toast the top. It's definatly hand crafted as they advertize. It's a time consuming process, the making of the burrito and there was a line when we got there. There was a family of two, infront of us getting 3 burritos so there was a wait. Knowing it's hand crafted should take away from your impatience. I talked to the guy behind me and he said there is always a line for the burritos, it's a very popular item.

This Safeway is beautifully tucked in this nestled beautiful area…read more We don't get out here much, but we do have family that lives out here and a lot of people come out here to go to Slyde Park or other places to go to the water and every single time I come in here everything in here is so well and neatly kept The aisles are huge, so you don't bump into anybody which I really like. I have been in here to buy stuff. I have been in here to use the restroom. I've never been treated differently. I've always been treated very kind and nice. I'm able to come in here and buy snacks and all the pricing is pretty good. They do have everything that every Safeway has which is really nice. You know what to expect you can get vegetables you can get meat. You can get all kinds of things and just because this is the only Safeway or grocery store in the area they don't have their prices raised in a super huge bracket which a lot of stores would do just because they're the only one in the neighborhood
