My family and I have be going to Graziella's for many years and have always had a wonderful experience. Tonight, my husband and I decided to have dinner and chose an outdoor table upstairs instead of our usual downstairs table. We ordered rice balls, calamari and a pizza. Our misfortune was that we were seated at a table with a waitress who was either having a bad night or didn't want to be there . We didn't get bread and didn't get the hot sauce for the calamari that we requested. She never came by to see if we needed anything or even to give us napkins. The worst thing was that an 18% tip was included in the bill. Just passing through brooklyn and saw it on yelp. Chimay on tap is awesome! The toasted bread for the table was crispy yet soft. The waitress was super sweet and friendly. The calamari was crispy on the outside, chewy but somehow still soft and yummy on the inside. The rice balls were delicious with a surprise of meat and peas in the middle. We had the arugula and shaved parmesan pizza too but our waitress suggested shaved prosciutto on top which made it even better. Also had the seafood risotto (so good) and the linguine with white clam sauce. Everything was very tasty, the place/decor was chill and the other beer selections were good too. Usually love the place. However, Saturday evening was not a great experience. My friends and I decided to try the roof deck for the first time. I wish we had been warned that service on the roof deck would be extremely slow. It took forever for them to even put bread(cold) on the table. Downstairs was packed. I ordered the shrimp oreganata and a mesculen salad. the shrimp was just OK. My friends said their meals were ok (lasagna and chicken parm). It is a good thing we were not starving. Our waitress forgot about us. We had to flag another waiter to get our bill. I was a little resentful that the tip(18%) was included in the bill seeing as how the service was not up to par.This will not stop me from going there, but I will not eat on the roof deck again. read more

Pizza was cold upon delivery that took about an hour, although it was right around the corner and late at night. The gorgonzola pizza was very good though, creamy with a chewy and foldable crust. The tiramisu was decent, nothing to write home about. I found the tiramisu had way too much coco powder on top. They won't deliver to your hotel room, so you'll need to meet the driver in the lobby. Graziella's is great for groups; I've eaten here twice with a party of 20 and of 9, and both times, we busted a BYOD (bring your own dessert) since these were Dominican family events, and no Dominican party is complete without some cake! My point: Graziella's staff accommodated our large groups' request for numerous plates and forks to eat food we brought into THEIR establishment. No attitude, no questions. While friendly, the staff is a tad slow. Any request made took several attempts to grab a waiters attention (and we were the only ones in there!) This is my favorite restaurant. Not only is the food absolutely mouth-watering delicious, the people who work there are just awesome. The penne vodka is so good. They have a frequently changing selection of really tasty wines by the glass and pretty decent espresso. The pasta are good but nothing special. They are standard Italian American fare, mostly tomato-based and over-sauced Once in a while they have a special that is really good and the Vodka sauce is better than most. The fried goat cheese and beets salad is nice, but ask them to leave off the shredded carrots. They are pretty tasteless and just get in the way. The best salad I've had was the shaved fennel salad. I use to order the Classico lasagna from this place all the time! It was great but like everything nothing good last forever. I returned to Graziella's a year later to try out my favorite Lasagna spot and boy oh boy was I disappointed!! Not only did they increase the price from 12-15$(i forget) but the portion of lasagna became smaller and salty. It is still a very beautiful place to bring friends/family to dine out but for a take out guy like myself i could find a better place for lasagna. The large pizza was way too much for 2 people (probably because we got salad, bread, and the appetizer. The place had lots of seating but isn't too large. Staff were friendly and attentive - it was definitely charming to hear the cook and staff speaking in Italian. The food was delicious-meatballs were great. I've been here three times and eventhough the service is great (quick, accurate, efficient and friendly), the pizza is good to great, but not fabulous or making me beg for more. I was disappointed in the arugula parmesan pizza... weepy and crispy arugula that fell off the slice before it even made it to the plate, thank god the parmesan was there to save the flavor/day. On the fabulous side, the location is in a cozy safe tucked away part of Fort Greene, the large size of the restaurant makes it great for large groups (or crying babies) and the wood burning stoves keep this place toasty in the winter. Definitely a pleasant surprise! Went in here shortly after 5 o'clock on a Saturday evening after the flea closed for the winter. We were hungry and didn't want to go back out in the cold later on. It was so worth it. It doesn't look like much on the inside but it's definitely a family style restuarant. We split a margherita pizza and it was absolutely fantastic, I would go back alone for the pizza. We also had a white bean spread appetizer which was so so tasty. There were lots of things on the menu with many things that I would eat. Our service was very nice and friendly. I will say that there were a lot of families with young children while we were there, but we did come early in the evening. Be prepared for lots of noise. From Wild Boar Ragu and Fresh Linguine to Mushroom Ravioli in a Creamy Mushroom Sauce to a simple brick Oven Pizza, as close as I have come to getting authentic Italian food in NYC at this price point that didn't have that NY touch to it. Came here on a Thursday night and it was packed. order the chickpea fritters but was a little disspointed over the fact that they were flat strips versus oval shape like most fritters I've encountered. They have delicious brick oven pizza's in various varieties, amazing pasta dishes (I always get the penne vodka, yum), and my favorite ever gorgonzola walnut salad. We enjoyed Graziellas for a work party (they catered our event) and we loved everything! We had a variety of perfectly cooked pizzas, as well as various salads and calamari. The calamari and margarita pizza were my favorites but I will say that the pepperoni was some of the best I've tasted! The staff was friendly and willing to work with us to make the event our own. This place is pretty fantastic. It has the neighborhood family-joint feel inside, but when the summer hits you can have a fun or romantic evening on the roof. They have a whole set up with tables! Like all the dishes here, the pizzas are always made to perfection. I have tried one with all seafood (pescatore) and one with onions, mushrooms and sausage (vitto) - both were unbelievably delicious! In addition to their normal menu, they do have nightly specials! The calimari was split among a whole table-full of people, but I would have gladly had my own. For the entree, I had the lasagna, which was really good and filling. I was too full for dessert, but the selection sounded great. The only real downside is the location, which is kind of quiet and not very central (then again, I'm not too familiar with Brooklyn outside of Williamsburg/Greenpoint). But it was seriously good. Pizza in our neighborhood (Fort Greene/Clinton Hill) is... let's just say, less than stellar... so we decided to try Graziella's. First, our waiter was awesome - super nice italian guy. Parmesan shrimp appetizer was somewhat surprisingly piled high with shrimp - a great value at 7 bucks. Very happy so far. But... onto the pizza. Here's the thing. This place looks great inside. Very unpretentious, homey, authentic. Great staff. There is some guy barking italian making the pies. And it came out looking amazing. Alas, when I bit into it... there was a glaring weakness: The crust was dead! We got the arugula and parmesan pie (which is just a regular cheese pie under the arugula and parm), and it came out super thin and looking elegant. I wanted it to taste as good as it looked - perfect. But why!? Why was the crust so dead, when the bread we had placed on the table when we sat down had such a beautiful snap and crust. I can't answer that question. It was very clearly not the same dough. The pizza dough had zero, literally no snap or give at all. Like a soggy cracker. I hate to say it like that... and it reality it wasn't that bad, but in NYC pizza is held to a much higher standard. You can't have completely dead crust and not get called out for it. But again, what's truly baffling is the disparity of the dough between the pre-meal bread (which was superb) and the pizza. Wondering if anyone else had this critique of their pizza as well... because other than that, it was an extremely well made pie. In the end, they get 4 stars for our lone visit. 3 for the pizza, 5 for the experience. Unfortunately, when the pizza is a 3... we're not likely to go back anytime soon. read more

Pear & walnut ravioli ...OH ma GaH! I came here for a friends birthday dinner and this place has the best Italian food I've had in New York (and that's sayin something). Firstly, the staff is AMAZING. The waitress took our order without even writing anything down, she described everything on the menu so perfectly that I wanted to order all of them. I loved their calamari, and grilled chicken salad with the freshest parmasean flakes! I had the penne a la vodka, with prosciutto. The sauce was perfect, the portions were huge and everything tasted delicious. They have a fried shrimp appetizer that's really delicious, a little salty but delicious nonetheless. Was in the area and dropped by Graziella's as it was named one of the Top 10 Pizzas in NYC by NYC10Best.com. Upon arrival, the outside of the place is very unassuming, and I had no problem finding parking on the street outside. The neighborhood was quiet as well which was surprising to me being that it is in Brooklyn. Inside, the decor hints at yesteryear, with several framed pictures and art pieces each tributing a classic music, movie, or TV star. I had fun quizzing the two folks I was with to see if they knew who each celebrity was. In the back right corner of the restaurant is a simple wood fire oven, where pizzas are prepared that adds to the charm. The Arugula and Parmesan pizza was recommended and for good reason, it was tasty and unlike any pizza flavor I've had before. The flavor was good, but not overpowering. I was there on a Friday evening, and it wasn't super busy, which was nice. The wait staff was very attentive and the food did not take long to prepare after we ordered. There is a spot in the front of the restaurant that some of the staff was changing their shoes and aprons at. It didn't bother me, but it slightly annoyed another person in my party. read more

I used to love this place but my most recent meal was disappointing. The arugula salad was a pile of arugula with some lemons and okay-tasting parmesan. The sauce on the orecchiette was watery and the sausage wasn't flavorful.
