I pulled up on a Sunday afternoon with nobody around, no customers, overhead doors open, I pulled up waited several minutes then beeped the horn to see if anyone was there. After several minutes This guy (IVAN on the name tag) came out eye balling me like he wanted to fight and screaming for me to not honk the horn! I said there was no sign of anyone and I was just trying to get someones attention! As he continued to be rude I said I would have a word with his boss about the way he communicates with the customers. That's when he came at me swearing dropping F bombs like they where going out of style and went on that he was the boss! (I knew he wasn't because I was a loyal customer and knew the manager was Mike) I told him to F*&# off and started to back up to leave as he followed my car as if he wanted to fight! I'm a 63 year old but caught myself before getting out of the car to do something crazy like beat the shit out of a smart ass punk. I called Mike a few days later to fill him in on his employee of the month. Mike said he would check into it but I do not know the results of that conversation. Needless to say I will be finding another oil change company to do business with. If you happen to go there and IVAN is still there say Hi for me. I brought my car here for an oil change. They opened up my transmission fluid plug and forgot to close it. My car stopped working a week later. They have lied and made up a false document to avoid responsibility for the repairs. The supervisor Nathan says that I asked him to check my transmission when I dropped the car off. I was at work all day, my husband dropped my car off for an OIL CHANGE ONLY. He also tried to tell me that the plug was off when I dropped the car off, so they left it off. NO professional would see this plug out and leave it out, and then never even notify their customer that the plug is out. Don't be cheap, forget about that 25. Off coupon. I stopped at the Grease Monkey on Boughton Rd. in Bolingbrook today, May 8th, at around 2:45. The guy working came out and asked what I wanted and I told him I was there for an oil change. He said "let's see if you REALLY need an oil change" and told me to pop the hood so he could check. I was a little annoyed, that is so condescending, just give me the oil change, my last one was in November 2024 but whatever. He "checked my oil" and told me I didn't need an oil change. STAY AWAY!!! My wife took her car here. After a few weeks I noticed a slow leak. The oil drain plug was loose. Turns out it was stripped. Also the oil filter was stripped as well. And they sent the car out like that. When we brought It back to complain they put a new oil plug in after having to re thread the drain pan. And they wanted to charge full price. Didn't even apologize or offer any reason to why the car was sent out with a stripped plug. That is lousy customer service and even worse mechanic work. Manager was WG. Requested for oil change. They just wheeled-in my vehicle; none of the staff talked to me about the service charge, available options, & etc before start servicing my vehicle. Lo & behold the charge for an oil change was $165!!! I remember when this was Lube Pros, and even of another name before that - but the service was great, facility was clean, staff were professional, they actually sit-down with you and present the options. Now, with this Grease Monkey, it's like a crack-den with oil change. The black guy with an afro was rude and denied my oil service over a oil leak I recently repaired.

I have a lot of reason to doubt whether displays can be trusted for proper service for vehicles. According to the invoice given to me after having the oil changed in my vehicle: 1. The oil level was marked as "LOW" prior to arrival when it was actually overfilled. 2. The power steering fluid was marked as "full", however was so low after service that I could hear the hydraulic noise and had to fill it myself. 3. They falsely claimed they checked "tire pressure", however as I watch them I never saw anybody approach any of the tires. 4. Finally, they falsely claimed that they "reset oil check" on the car's dashboard. I did that myself immediately upon entering the car after the service. When you see a lot of these false claims on an invoice, you have to question whether they actually used the oil you requested, or if there was any other faulty or missing services. Dishonesty is a sure way to lose customers. read more

Stick with your oil change. Everything else you can do yourself for the most part. Filter every 60k. Ok. Wipers every 2 or 3 years ok Be careful. Oil change places make their money on selling you stuff you do not really need at times. The If you get conventional oils change. Then great do it every 3500 to 5000 miles. If you do semi synthetic. Do it every $5000. If you get full synthetic do it every 10000 miles or year. The best bet is always the full synthetic with the improved mobile 1 oil filter. Yes it's expensive. Go to get my oil changed and there is nobody else there at the time I show up. Not even another car waiting. 3 young guys working the store one wearing sandals and the other wearing crocs with pot leaves on them tell me that I need an appt to get my oil changed. The guys were just sitting around and smoking in the bays and and wouldn't change the oil. All they seemed to want to do was smoke and not work. Such a shame this is what the future generation looks like. I don't recommend this place at all and I'm sort of glad it didn't work out. Went for an AC recharge 6/14/22 because i have had it done here on 8/3/21. I have it in my mind that'll it only cost me around $66 as it was the last time. When i paid for it they charged me $184.90. I told the guy at the counter that the price before was only around $66. He said "Oh it's $169 so plus tax it comes out to $184.90." I didn't have the time to argue with him. And i was also getting that really bad feeling when u know u are getting ripped. Also, i thought i was wrong at the moment about the price. But when i checked my records later, i found out it was only $66 for AC recharge the last time. They charge for $169.99 for a basic AC service when I clearly stated i only need an AC recharge. Everyone i guess is money hungry. I know i was ripped. Just be careful with these guys. I will never go to this place again. read more

I had to take my car to a neighborhood Bolingbrook mechanic after and he even told me that most of people that come to him for car issues that they have right after getting serviced at Grease Monkey. I believe they're under new management and the main mechanic is an old school guy who treats your car like their own. I normally do my own basic car maintenance, but sometimes can't find the time, so I came here for the first time a few weeks ago to replace my front brake pads and rotors and flush the brake lines. So far, all good! Cordial service; didn't try to upsell me products or additional services; even topped off all my fluids and degreased my engine bay without my asking and at no cost. I called this morning to see if I could get an oil change today. I was told by the time I got there they would have a bay open, "We have 3 bays, with just one car waiting in each bay." I got there in 10 minutes. No bays were open, I was second in line in bay #2. I walked across the street to have lunch. An hour later, still no bays were open. An hour after that - after they pulled my car into bay #1 - I was told they don't have the synthetic oil for my car (2007 VW). A tech came out told me it was a 45 minute wait and due to the time I might not get in. As I was leaving 2 cars pulled in and they pulled forward. I filled out the survey on the receipt and the district manager contacted me later that same afternoon. He was very polite and professional. He comped my oil change and asked me to bring it back and told me the shop would make it right and take care of the items they missed. While I appreciate the olive branch I am not really comfortable bringing my vehicle back there. My fiance brought her car there just to see what would happen with a "female" bringing her car in and maybe her service would be better. Pretty much the same sloppy service. Went there for an oil change. I have been here before. I got the high mileage oil change. A guy came back and said my car require a special oil. I'm sorry no it does not. I have been to this location about 5 times and never once have been told that. I agreed to a new oil filter. I had a highlight out and I know I need my entire front bummer removed to do so. They told me it would be about $150. I said no thank you as I have someone who would do it much cheaper. Figured I was there and would at least ask. The guy went back and told him I said no and I hear yes I figured she doesn't want anything done to her car. I hope she know no where else will be cheaper. Ummm first off I can hear you! Secondly I can and do get it done cheaper and in Half of the time you told me it would take. Don't be an ass cause I said no and Called you out on the type of oil I need. Also they took air out of my tires. I know the sticker in my car says 32 pounds but I got new tires 2 years ago and they are 36 pounds so for that and having to go re fill them. Today I went in for a oil change when I received my truck back I didn't have any brakes. When I went right to let them know the manager came out with an attitude before I even started talking to him. He immediately became defensive. I had to humble myself and leave because he was raising his voice when I was trying to explain to him that I didn't have a problem when I pulled up. I've been coming here since it has opened. I've never had any problems before until today with a new manager by the name of BRENT!! He was rude to my 17 year old daughter because she asked him about the conventional oil change that wasn't 19.99 anymore. He preceded to tell she had $40 in her hands and could afford the $29.99 oil change. I went up there with a coupon and he told me I had to print out the coupon so he could attach it to the sheet which I knew was crap. I called his manager and he agreed that he should have put the code in manually. I've never seen anyone get so angry about a coupon. I will never take my car or my husbands or my moms car there again. BRENT ruined it. I will tell everyone in my nice little suburb not to patron this place.
