When our go to pizza shop was closed, we decided to try somewhere new. Found Great American Pizza because we like to try more mom and pop type pizza places versus big brand restaurants. The restaurant is in an old Pizza Hut and definitely still has its 90s decor. A little run down on ambiance. We ordered their pizza and calzone like we always do - typically the same as we go everywhere - a Greek calzone and veggie with hamburger pizza. The dough was soft and the pizza and calzone were tasty. It wasn't the best pizza we've ever had but their prices were competitive and the food was fresh and good. The calzone could have had more meat - almost seemed like the meat was non existent but still, had flavor for what we were wanting. Pizza is good but small for price. Always order them on DoorDash and they NEVER have the advertised 2 liter Diet Coke. Sometimes they sub diet cans for the 2 liter and it works. Tonight, no Diet in stock. I think the menu needs updated or they should stock it. It ruins my order when I learn there is no soda I can drink with my pizza. I wouldn't have even bothered ordering if I knew in advance. read more

Some People in Okc think just hot pizza is great, so take their 5 star reviews w a grain of salt. The sauce is mediocre. Doesn't taste like it's cooked before making the pizza, so it's not really cooked when you get it. Lots of toppings and cheese. The crust was thin and crispy but it had no flavor. Salt? Butter? Sugar? These are all at their disposal. Don't buy frozen pizza crust and call it your own. You can tell it's frozen. Same as every other crappy corner pizza place we are plagued with. read more

The reviews referring to taking "their five star reviews with a grain of salt," are completely ridiculous. I have had tons of pizza from tons of places, and for the price, this is 100% better than any other fast food pizza shop I have ever had. I pay $11 for a large pizza each time, and it is immensely better than any Dominoes, Caesar's, Mazzio's, Pizza Hut, etc, as well as the service being generally much faster. They also do great with parties, prepared our 8 pizzas for a Halloween party with absolutely no issues, were perfectly on time. Something about this pizza is just right, and the hole in the wall atmosphere sells it. If you like paying double for mediocre pizza, go to The Wedge or Hideaway instead, but if you love yourself- just give this place a shot read more

YOU HAVE TO TRY!!!! This is the best pizza I've ever had in my life. They've always been fast at getting the order ready and are super nice people to work with. Idk what it is but the cheese tastes like no other pizza brand. It tastes so good you don't even need dipping sauces!!! I once told the man running the shop how amazing his pizza was and he said he knew because he eats it himself . While their specialty pizzas didn't impress me too much..Maybe their simple pies are better? Toppings were average and a bit too sparse, a top coating of cheese attempting to hide that fact. Pizza dough looked and tasted premade. I guess it's not a bad deal if you need to feed a bunch of kids at a birthday party or something. Though I do dig the divey dining room with the throwback vibe I miss in pizza places. And the folks running this place are super nice. But for near the same price, I'd rather do Stars & Stripes, even Marco's. But you could do worse (All American Pizza, gag). read more

I have been getting great american pizza from this location for 7 years I believe. I was so excited to know my apartment was still located where they can deliver. The staff is always friendly and hard working. They go the extra mile for customers with a smile on their face. I have ever witnessed any employee upset at the establishment or getting yelled at. That can be rare to find. The pizza is always exactly how I like it. With having autism, it is helpful to know the quality and taste doesn't change. I really enjoy how kind they are to me and I never have to explain myself if Im having difficulty. They are patient and kind. This business supports its patrons with understanding and great pizza. This is the cheapest, best freaking pizza! I'm a pizza lover and honestly the price and quality is great. I get it pretty simple. This last time I ordered a thin crust supreme and a hand tossed double pepperoni extra cheese. Both are super good in totally different ways. They always bring pepper flakes and Parmesan cheese which is nice and I like that I don't have to ask. MIL just randomly ordered pizza one night because it is not far from her house. I've lived in the area for many years and never had the place. I guess the building wasn't impressive so never thought of it. The take out was great. Nice thin and crisp crust that really set it off from the start. Several different out of the box pizzas and never thought of a gyro pizza but it really was my favorite of the night. They offer the most delicious, true version of Baklava I've ever had - at a pizza joint - and it's sooooo good. Boom. Mind blown. The cheese sticks are so gooey and flaky and the sauce is authentic and rich and everything a good marinara should be. The staff is so friendly. They are genuine and kind and knowledgeable and always take the time to talk to you, to educate you on the menu or just shoot the breeze while you wait. This little pizza eatery has been in OKC for over 18 years. While the decore' is older and there is some wear and tear in some of the booths, it is comfortable, laid back, cozy and perfect for gathering the family together or spending some one on one time with your partner. I was online looking at pizza in my area and wanting delivery. When I clicked on delivery, was not sure if they do their own delivery or who? Got redirected to Yelp site and at the bottom it said, "fulfilled by Grub Hub". I thought ok, I use them for other delivery. I had never seen a Yelp default before when getting delivery. Years ago, I may have been on Yelp reviewing a company but not ordering food. Yelp populated a name that is connected to my email and not my legal name as on the debit card I was putting in. It kept saying card info invalid and it would not let me change my name nor submit the order. Then I notice an email saying that my order was placed. What? I called the restaurant and got put on hold, the connection had a lot of static. Too long so I called Grub Hub. Person did not speak English clearly. He was repeating scripted stuff and not making any sense, so I asked for a supervisor. Sup said the transaction did go through and my order was confirmed by the restaurant. Spent an hour on all of this. Then I get a text from the driver saying he canceled my order due to something with the app. I called Grub Hub again and the next person called the driver and then verified they were close to my apartment. What? Never did get and explanation on any of this. The food was good. read more

Great American Pizza has been my family's go-to as long as it has been at this location. My parents live nearby, so this is a great local option for pizza. I really like the chicken alfredo and spinach alfredo pizzas. The works and Hawaiian are delicious too. I also enjoy the cheese stix with marinara.The Greek salad is a value at $4.99 and includes gyro meat. The large pizzas are only $6.99 for pick up, add $2 for delivery. This place isn't fancy, but it's cheap and the quality is all there. Give them a try and I swear you won't miss whatever chain pizza place you've been visiting. read more

Reasonable prices--large pizza just $8.99. Fast service--our three pizzas were ready a few minutes earlier than the promised time. Friendly service upon pickup of our takeout order...staff was conversational and expressed appreciation for our business. Prepared--had sides of ranch, marinara sauce (was a bit spicy), pickled jalapeño peppers, peppers and Parmesan packs ready as requested. Pizza was good...not excellent...not a favorite...it falls short on flavor--not enough pizza sauce, maybe or the pizza sauce is too generically tomato--not enough seasoning. Additionally, the crust is basic--nothing to describe. It was certainly edible and toppings were fresh, but its only minimal flavor and uninspired crust are not enough to be rated a "5". But, this being our uneducated choice for serving a quick meal to our family who is from the area and wanted "Pizza Hut" originally, we were not disappointed. All three pizzas were devoured and for the first four reasons, we would order from here again if we find ourselves in the same circumstance in the future. read more
