I want to provide feedback regarding an experience I had that I believe highlights a flaw in both the online check-in system and how management applies it. I checked in online and intentionally timed my arrival based on the app's guidance. The app indicated I had approximately 9 minutes to arrive and then later stated that my turn was coming up soon. I arrived and remained in the salon waiting for my preferred stylist, who knew I was there specifically for her. Despite being physically present and waiting for approximately 30 minutes, another customer who had checked in online before me but did not arrive until roughly 25 minutes after I had already been sitting there was taken ahead of me. I was told the system showed he checked in first, so the stylist had to take him first. My concern is that no consideration was given to the fact that I was physically present, waiting, and available the entire time. The other customer was not there when I arrived and was not there during most of the time I was waiting. Yet when he finally appeared, he was immediately given priority simply because of the system. Technology should support customer service, not replace common-sense decision-making. There should be some flexibility for managers and stylists to make reasonable judgments when circumstances like this occur. I am a repeat customer, regularly request the same stylist, and had already invested 30 minutes of my time waiting. Instead, the system effectively rewarded a customer who wasn't even present while penalizing one who was. I believe Great Clips should review how online check-ins are handled when customers arrive late or when another customer has been physically present and waiting for an extended period of time. A balance between technology and human judgment would have created a much better customer experience. read more

I have been getting trims at Great Clips for 2+ years. This was my first time at this location. Marissa did my hair cut and she did a great job! She listened to what I wanted with my hair and had me check to make sure that's what I wanted twice. I like that. I did have her make a couple adjustments which she was happy to do. I love my cut and the price is so affordable, I make sure to give a healthy tip when they do a good job because these people depend on their tip $$. I won't ever pay $70 at a salon for the same or worse hair cut! Great Clips is not just for men and Boys, it's for us ladies too! Ok, first of all I didn't even know that hair shops were open until yesterday. With this new found information, I had to come! After checking in online (Which I definitely recommend doing) my three young boys and I waiting outside in line with our masks on and 6 feet apart. We were greeted right away with the absolutely best customer service. EVERYONE and I mean everyone was SO NICE. This was by far the nicest and most friendliest salons I've ever been too. This current world is different and can't be easy for ANY business, I can't even imagine the new demands, and or frustrations that are present- however you would never know that walking into this place- the employees stayed positive and cheerful. They cut and they cleaned, and moved on. I was totally impressed. Also, from my end- It's not easy bringing three young kids but this place made sure it was ok. Everyone was super understanding and moved quickly. Big shout out to Michelle, she was incredible kind and warm- plus she cut my 4 year olds hair perfect! Another big shout out to Marissa, she cut mine and my 6 year old hair. She did a fantastic job and stayed happy and upbeat the entire time! I'm mad as hell at this location. I'm never, NEVER, going to choose Crap Clips. And be aware that not only will I and my family not go here, everyone I know will know how crappy a business this is. My daughter wanted a look change. She wanted to go from mid-back hair length to well above the shoulders. Practically shaved in back. What's it matter, it's COVID QUARANTINE TIME, so if she don't like it, it's not like anyone's going to see it anyways Well, the "stylist," and I use that term loosely, just didn't feel like such a cut; it would have taken a lot of time, and she just didn't feel it. She didn't feel like my daughter who wanted to donate her hair. SO, SHE TOLD MY KID SHE HAD LICE!!!! Lice? Who The F@ck gets lice being quarantined for 160+ days? She's been stuck away from the rest of society since March 13! If I can give zero stars, I would. This hairdresser Rita did not only give out an attitude while cutting my husband's hair, but literally wasn't even good at it. Hair was uneven, one side is higher than the other side. Rounded on the back but uneven. Just disappointing. We're going to another hair place because we're not going back there to get it fixed coz she might butcher his hair more.... Leave the attitude elsewhere lady. I originally posted this last month. Having to repost because Yelp posted a duplicate somehow when I was trying to update it. Holy. Moly. I came here the other day and got there five minutes before it opened. Good thing too, because right after I pulled up a ton of people showed up behind me and we had to form a line. Every time I've been here for my husband's haircuts it's been really busy, so be sure to check in online beforehand if you can. Checking in was speedy and quick and I was immediately ready to go. All I wanted was a blowout. No trim, nothing extra, just a blowout. I am not trying to be rude whatsoever but the stylist who took me back seemed like she'd rather be anywhere else but there. I informed her as we were heading to the chair that I wanted a blowout, no haircut. She stared at me blankly and said something to the effect of, "What do you mean by that?" I said I wanted my hair blown dry smooth and slightly curled under on the ends. She goes, "Oh, I haven't done one in a long time. That's $45." Red flag number one. You don't know what I mean by 'blowout,' you haven't done one in a long time, and it's $45? A classic blowout at Ulta is $26! The only reason I came here was it was a weekend and my normal salon/everyone else was closed and I was in a desperate hurry that morning. Anyways, I got in the chair after having a heart attack over the price, and she asks again what I mean. I repeated myself. She asks me if I need my hair wet for a blowout. Then she tells me she can't get my hair straight unless she uses a flat iron, and that would be an additional $20. $65 for a blowout by a lethargic stylist who doesn't know what a blowout even is, holy crap! I almost peed in the chair out of confusion and fright! I told her I didn't want a flat iron on my hair, just blown dry with a round brush. Literally every stylist at every salon I've visited in the past has given me a plain ol' boring blowout like I was requesting using just a hair dryer and a brush. They never put an iron on my head. She then walked away from me without explanation. I wanted to run, run away Simba and never return. After a minute of leaving me sitting there wondering what the hell, she came back with the check-in lady (who I assume was a manager) who told me that to "get my hair really straight, they *need* to use a flat iron, and that's $65." I didn't have time to argue and these people were starting to freak me out, so I smiled and said "I think I'll go someplace else." They apologized and I left the shop as quick as I could. I ended up coming home and just doing my own hair. I wasn't expecting high-end hair salon experience, but I wasn't expecting...that. I went to the Great Clips on Madison in Carmichael on April 30,2019 before 4 pm and the person who greeted me was rude. There were about 4 people ahead of me and told me I had and hour and a half wait. She said I should have reserved an appointment on their app. Didn't know they had one- I had been once before in Rancho Cordova near Trinity and they were nice and did a good job and I was able to walk right in no problem on a late Saturday morning. I left, went out to the car, downloaded the app and scheduled an appointment at the Ranco Cordova one I had been to before. I got an appointment, went there, walked in and was taken right away. I would first off like to point out that I had a bad experience here last year but decided to give them another chance. BIG FAIL! Every other Great Clips I go to I never have a problem. When I came in I was greeted by a young gal and was waiting for their system to get up and running. There was a gentleman that walked in right after me and was told it would be a 30-35 minute wait the front desk gal took down his information and she then wrote his name down and informed him he could back back to check in. I then realized there was an errand I had to run so I then asked her if she could schedule an appointment for me or if I could come back in an hour and she informed me that they don't set appointments. I then pointed out how the gentle men that came in after me she placed and set his name on the list so why can she not do that for me she then responded and said it is because his wait time is longer. Her attitude was very passive aggressive.... sometimes it's not about what you say but how you say I on the other hand have no idea why she was being so rude...... This gal did not offer to put my name on the list and also gave me a snarky attitude. I don't know maybe it was jealousy because I was about 3 times smaller than her and she wasn't very good looking but all I know is she was very unprofessional and rude. I went to the Great Clips down the street next to Burlington and he informed me he could put my name on the list but it would be an hour max and worked with me unlike this women at the other store. It was worth the 17 dollars to get out of there and on the phone with a place that wasn't going to criticize my hair, previous stylist, drop 3 combs in one hundred and twenty seconds while making about 5 snips before holding up a mirror crooked and asking me if it looks straight. Donna has been cutting my hair for 2+ years and she is the only one that has ever been able to get my hair to look decent as I have grown it out from short spikes to an asymmetrical slightly longer look. We've been coming here since January 2016. They are really great with my 4 year old son. The store is very clean. The waits are never too long. Online check-in is a great option. The staff is very friendly and someone is always there to greet you right away. This location is a bit hidden in the parking lot but it is a great salon. They did a great job. My husband loves his fade. I got a trim with shorter layers and I am impressed. My son even gets excited to go! This will be our home for future cuts. read more
