I'll explain in a second the one-star review when I'm actually rating one haircutter -- a middle-aged woman named Marlene, a movie makeup artist by trade who only cuts hair to make ends meet, she said. I went to Great Clips hoping to get a better haircut than I get at Supercuts in Medallion Center, where what I get is okay but no haircutter there, not even the manager, knows how to cut one aspect of shoulder-length hair combed from a side part. I told Marlene EXACTLY what I wanted -- long layers like I get at the other place -- only with the hair from the part combed to the side not angling up like a duck's tail. By the time I realized I was not getting a professional haircutter, it was too late. Instead of long layers, she gave me SUPER short layers all around, actually ugly jagged layers like a child might have cut, AND that let the light show through from the front making it look like I have thin hair. She also didn't cut the side the way I explained. It's going to take eight months to a year to grow the layers out. I am utterly depressed. I also think sticking with the one-star review here is appropriate because Great Clips called this person in when short-staffed. I paid to have a haircut that was not difficult and I should have received at least an experienced haircutter. When I asked Marlene if she ever did hair on the movie sets she said, "Oh God no; not creative enough for me.'" No haircutting salon should hire someone whose primary job is not haircutting. read more

Abosolute joke of a place. I came in because I needed a haircut and my usual barber was busy so I decided to give them a try. Needless to say I should've gone somewhere else. I got in the chair and told the guy what I wanted he and the other woman just laughed and said "that haircut doesn't even exist." Like what? I get that all the time get your people up to date. I got something more "dumbed down" and it clearly was even worse. My haircut was uneven, no line up, and my head hurt from him pressing the clippers into my head. Luckily I know people that do hair and they were able to fix it. I would've been reluctant to walk out the house without a hat. If you need a haircut go somewhere else literally go across the street to sports clips. They do way better. read more

This is a one of the most professional places I've been too. The manager is on top of things and the wait is very little. They also have a great app that lets you check-in prior to arrival. This will save you time. I get my haircut done by MATTEW KEYS. He is very good ad fades and all sorts of men hairstyle. He is professional and very good at his job. I highly recommend him. read more

I went in for seriously one of the easiest haircuts someone can do... a trim. I have long hair and I wanted 2 inches trimmed off but after looking at it closer when I got home I noticed the guy who cut it wasn't able to cut it evenly. You can imagine my frustration. Worst Corporate Policies Ever. Can't even go in to set an appointment for the person you want to cut your hair, no times for when available and most of their stylist are new and do not know how to properly cut hair. I want the only person there who has ever cut my hair properly but can't get her standard working hours as Great Cuts changes them all the time, can't ask for her online as that is not an option, can't go into the facility to make an appointment. I've gotten a hair cut from every staff member. Most do a good job. Nothing to complain about here. Staff is very friendly. My suggestion is to open up yourself as a customer and you will get great service. Music is up with lots of laughter. Good place to get your grooming on. read more

My hair was very dry and rough. The lady started off with complaining about my hair. She cut it in like 2-3 minutes. I ask her to re touch up the sides and she gives me a look like shes doing it for free so im not supposed to ask twice or something. And she does it in a hurry. The way they cut was pitiable with absolutely no perfection in handling and working with the scissors. I could say that either she never got any formal training in hair cutting or she was totally ignorant. She kept blabbering away with the other stylist who was cutting my boyfriend's hair. His haircut also turned out quite messy with jagged lines and uneven lengths. She was also a little rude and stared at him when he asked her to do make some changes, seemed like she had to run off somewhere. Checked in online before getting to the location like they recommend to make it quicker. After checking in online and arriving at the location there was AT LEAST 4 people walk through the door that specifically asked if they had checked in said no and then proceeded to name the hairstylist that normally cuts their hair. All of those people where moved to the front of the line. All while 4 other people were stuck waiting in line having checked in before hand or checked in when they got there and said they didn't have a preference of hair dressers. I went on a Saturday and endured blaring, repetitive dance music while getting my hair cut. It felt like I was in a dance club or worse, not a hair salon. This great clips used to be very good. We had been going to Penny for over 2 years. She did a great job with my kids hair. Then for no apparent reason, she was gone. There have been other people cutting my kids hair and making an absolute mess of it. Its never cut well and my son's ears have been cut every time. I need to find a new place for my kids haircuts. Just had a terrible experience at this location. The manager on duty is clueless and rude. I bought a prepaid 60$ card for 5 haircuts I've used it for 4. Today she said it has a 2$ balance. This Great Clips location is awesome! The staff there are great. They greet you the moment you walk in the door and let you know what to expect as far as wait times. If you check-in online you get to go ahead of all of the walk-ins. On my first visit, I was taking my 3yo son to get his hair trimmed. I had made an appointment at the Roosters on Preston, but got there and was told I would have to wait for 30 min after my scheduled appointment time. They looked at my child like I had brought a monster into the salon. I ended up walking out because of the embarrassment they caused my son. I drove to this Great clips location, waited less than 5 min, and the stylist didn't flinch at having to cut my 3yo's hair. Ann Marie saved they day!! I told her what happened and she got to work. She was excellent with him and gave him the cutest cut!! This was the best haircut experience I've had with my son. There were no tears! I will most definitely be returning to see Ann Marie again.
