Good place for a quick haircut. No frills. Been there a few times, no wait. Will go back.

As there are very few great clips around here, this place is your not one. Centered around 3-4 towns, almost all people come here on the expected days. Typical wait is 75 mins, so plan ahead or better yet go somewhere else. Stylists are hit or miss. Go with a tenured person there. The new ones are new for a reason. For basic hair cuts they are fine, but always off on the measurements. They almost always go shorter than you want. So make sure to go longer on the length. Remember they can cut it again if they are off. Incidentally, this is the same place that buzzed my 13 year old bald "by accident" right before his birthday. While I want to be socially correct - these idiots were like "oh well it will grow back" - no apologies. read more

Great Clips - Front entrance - Hair Salons Near Me - Howell, New Jersey

Have tried this location for a year. First haircut was as good as I've have at a high end salon. Visits have declined exponentially since. Have checked in online for every visit and had 2-3 customers called before me. Apparently customers who know the staff can be taken before those checking on line. I usually tip 125 - 150 percent for a haircut. Just ask my previous haircutter. My last was subpar for extremely poor service. I will never return to this GARBAGE organization. . read more

Worst cut I've ever seen! I wouldn't let her clip my dog! She cut my hair in under 5 minutes chopping off 8" should take time. My missed pieces and random chops. I could've let e kindergarten cut with blunt scissors and it would look better. I just want to cry, it's too short to even fix! read more

Had gotten my hair cut there for many years by Megan who says she is the manager. She had told me to bring my wife there who was loosing her hair from Chemo treatments and she would do anything to help. When taking my wife there who was very weak, to only get the bangs on a newly acquired wig trimmed, Megan got very snippy at me stating she does not cut wigs and she would not allow my wife to sneak into the waiting line for a two minute bang clip. As a loyal customer (65 years old) for many years I did not need to be reprimanded by a young girl and embarrassed in front of my sick wife and others in the shop. Megan needs to refrain from sticking her chest out and show some respect from the people that supported her. Never will go back. read more

Been going here for two years and I have always been satisfied. I normally wait for Jennifer who also happens to be the manager. Everyone is friendly and will talk to you making the haircut go by pretty fast. My only complaint is that at 15$ plus tip I'm close to 20$ and I've noticed several other salons offer a shampoo and a hot towel wrap for men. At great clips the 15$ just covers your cut. After every cut you do get 2$ off your next haircut however, if you lose the receipt like I always do they won't honor your coupon even if it shows you were their a month prior which is kinda disappointing. read more

If I could leave less than 1 star, I would. I brought my 2 year old here (reluctantly, since the guy who was helping us was obnoxious last time) for a quick cut... WELL... My 2 year old has a little cold, and the guy refused to cut my son's hair because he coughed?? Look, I get it, you don't want to catch a cold from a little 2 year old, but are you going to turn away all business from everyone if they cough or have a sniffle??? What if I had a slight cough? Would you turn me away too??? Stop being such an uppity, yuppy, obnoxious jerk and try to have a little more professionalism and understanding... I will NEVER step foot in this joke of a hair place.... can't even call it a salon....ever again!!! It could have been handled a lot better and in a more professional manner than how this man handled it. So unprofessional. read more

Been a customer for years, cuts by Juliette, very satisfied. Had to get a cut several weeks ago and was cut by Breeann who also did a very satisfactory job. Had to go back a couple days ago and was cut by Breeann again. She appeared to recognize me and asked "Same as last time? I said yes that was great!" Put my glasses in my pocket - I'm virtually blind without them and she did her job. After I paid and left, as I ran my hand through my hair driving home, I was horrified! It was virtually all gone! Apparently she mistook me for someone else and cut off about 90% of my hair! My hair hasn't been this short in close to 50 years. It'll take a year or more to grow back to where I want it. Great haircuts at a dirt cheap price, the staff is professional and its bright and clean inside. But i do have one complaint, i went to their websiteto buy a gift card and guess what !? You cant buy them online ! Apparently they have 4,000 locations across the country and yet, no gift cards available online ? That's a turn off , to not make gift cards available online when you are a nationwide salon chain! read more

If I could give less than 1 star I would. Patricia butchered my hair to a horrendous cut after asking for a 1/2 inch trim. She was rude and took forever. It's very sad knowing that anyone can get their license to cut hair but do a HORRIBLE job She is awful and even the manager, Jennifer knew it was bad and refunded my money. She seemed embarrased by the complaint. I will never, ever go here again. read more

TERRIBLE PLACE!!! the so called stylist receive no training since the owner doesn't care about you. she just wants her money. jennifer and the only guy who works there, will cut the bare minimum so you have to come back more ofter. check the floor after cut. most other "stylists" will chop and shave your hair and call that a hair cut. the place is dirty and barbasol sits on station counters but you never see anyone use the disinfectant for scissors and combs. owner says the barbasol in only needed once a day in the morning. so only the first customer receives the benefits of using clean tools. read more

what I love about great clips is that so far any location I went through Had consistency which is very important in every business whenever I go into great clips I don't need to worry about the style is not doing a good job on me I'm always relax at this current location each one of the stylist has years and years of experience shush nice customer service and the best hairstylists what I mean to say by consistency is for example if you go to Supercuts in long branch the one next to shop right tthey will literally butcher your head but if you go to Supercuts in brick New Jersey it's usually five stars it's usually a pleasure besides night shift so every location is different read more

I am literally sitting here as I am writing this while my son is getting his haircut. This is the only place that he can get his haircut the way he wants, so this is where we go. But I have been sitting here for 15 mins listening to 5 extremely loud, very young hairstylists sitting and talking about everything including one of their drunk mothers, YouTube videos, Spongebob quotes, and how much they do not like the other girls that work here. One actually screamed "OMG". I can only imagine how uncomfortable my son feels while getting his hair cut and not to mention my head is now pounding!! On a positive note, the woman cutting his hair was not a part of these other conversations and gave him a great haircut. Too bad the other ladies made the visit almost unbearable. read more

Everyone smiles as you walk in because they are about to rip you off! There is no way to call the employees stylist since they are promised training but receive NONE! The ONLY instructions they hear is "shave it all off". Unless, you are unfortunate and find yourself in Jennifer's or Adolfo's chair who cut the BARE minimum to force you to come back for another hair cut. Meanwhile, these folks believe their hair is growing in quicker than usual. Than there are the hair cut who have no name except "one of a kind" since the ones holding the scissors will cut whatever they feel like it giving you the worst hair cut of your life. Went in for a cut because my husband always goes there to trim his hair and has had a great experience. I had hair down to my mid back and I just wanted to trim three to four inches off which would still give me a nice length and cut off the dead. My hair is thick and I told the stylist that I just wanted a trim and to add some face frames to one side of my face because the other side was perfect. I walked out of their with a semi bob and mullet in the back. My hair is cut so short in the front but long in the back. I was mortified, it looks like I came out of the 90s! I called and the manager and she offered to fix it. She was able to make it look much better then it did but I am still so upset that my long hair is gone. The only reason that I am giving this place two stars is because the manager was so nice. However she didn't ask my name or the name of the stylist and then said that haircuts come with experience which she has had 20 years of. That is what school is for paying clients should not be used for "practice"! Don't skimp on the money for a good cut!! So not worth it! read more

Took my daughter for a trim only up to the shoulders for back to school but when I saw the stylist was scissor happy, I asked her to stop and not go any shorter. She said she was just going to even it out and wouldn't go shorter then she had already. However, when the hair cut was complete, instead of 1 inch off it was nearly 3! Great clips is not advertised as a training center but perhaps it should be. This particular hair stylist was very inexperienced. Clearly you get what you pay for. read more

Megan J was fantastic. She took her time, very personable. Not only did she do a great job she looked great doing it.

Horrible and rude stylist. Asked to have my daughters hair styled up or down with curls. I wanted to see what she suggested. She shouted at me in front of everyone that I was confusing her and didn't know if I wanted her hair straight or curly. She wound up just blowing it out and charged 35 for it. Will never go there again. She was also impatient while blow drying her hair. What a horrible experience. I don't recommend anyone going there in the future. The crazy part was everyone was looking at her because she apparently had a problem. Why do people go into this business if they can't handle it? read more

I have taken my son to Great Clips before and have been very happy. Holly has always given my son a great haircut. He is more difficult because he is Special Needs, but she handled him very professionally, and made him feel "safe" with his hair cut. Today, I was sent to Mike. At first glance at the salon, I noticed that all combs, scissors, and such were on towels at each station. None were in the required sanitizer. Mike actually had one comb that had a thick coating on it, and when he reached for it, I told him that another comb would fit my son better. The hairstylist used their equipment over and over without sanitizing. This is very disturbing. Mike was a nice enough guy, but I doubt that he even has a license. He was very sloppy, he was trying to cut my son's hair dry, and he didn't even know how to edge his hair on his neck. I had to keep showing him things until I gave up. I asked for a number 3 on the sides and back and a faux hawk on the top. He barely touched the top. This whole experience should be an embarrassment to this man and to the shop. I will not go here ever again. Obviously, the owner does not care who she employs anymore. read more
