This review both overdue and is for Ariel who works in CC Salon :) I managed to get an appointment at short notice with her, having seen the amazing peekaboo highlights she does on her Instagram. I wanted to change up my hair a bit having had the same boring brown 'do for decades (minus the odd unsuccessful foray into hideous orange highlights). Ariel did an absolutely amazing job of my cute teal highlights, she was really attentive and had some great ideas for how to make it look both striking yet subtle when it needs to be. It looked fantastic, didn't take too long (a couple of hours maybe), and I'm looking forward to going back and getting it refreshed :) Parking is a bit restricted to the side, but you can park on El Camino and move your car halfway through (got some weird looks from drivers with my cape and foils on...) read more

I can't emphasize enough how much I'm in love with Christina's work. I didn't book her specifically, but did run into some of these reviews while browsing through Yelp reviews for other salons and specifically remember the lovely pictures. She worked with me at Textures Salon. My order today was pretty demanding, since I had never had my hair done before by a professional--it had always been cut by a talented friend--so I didn't know what to expect. I came in with some Google Images of "sunkissed hair for tan Asians," emphasizing that I wanted more natural face-framing highlights, and to avoid the stark ombre look. Christina delivered 110% without any of my comments. During the entire process, Christina was professional and straightforward but still very bubbly and comforting, which is especially important for a salon newbie like me. She had so many recommendations for me, and I know I can approach her with any questions about hair care-taking in the future. Since I received essentially a balayage and haircut, and Menlo Park is a more expensive area, the total cost was a little higher than I expected. If you're on a tighter budget, then Christina's prices might not be in your range, but if you're willing to pay for spot-on results, then Christina Cheung is your girl! I am not an impulsive person by any means and I was not going to write a review but because the condition of my hair continues to be unsatisfactory following color services back in March 2022, I thought I'd better be frank and post my experience. After reading 5 star reviews I booked an appointment for a haircut and color. Immediately after the services my scalp was itchy and my hair was very dry. I didn't think much of it and even booked a follow up haircut appointment in June but then I cancelled it. After thinking about it, since my hair continued being very dry despite using appropriate shampoo and conditioner for color treated hair the shine in my hair had been lost. I have always prided myself with shiny hair even after having color services done elsewhere. But family and friends kept telling me how dry and lackluster my hair looked. 2 months after having my hair colored I had to go and get 4 inches cut off the ends to minimize the dryness as the ends were extremely dry. Fast forward to now (October 2022) and my scalp continues itchy primarily in the back of my scalp and my hair continues being dry and dull. It is for this reason that I cannot in good conscience recommend color services from her. I am thinking that at this point I may have to cut my hair above the shoulder to get rid of the damage caused. I have tried putting oil treatment on my scalp and hair and have used numerous products specifically formulated for color treated and dry hair and have gotten very little improvement. This review is by no means a personal attack against Christina but I strongly suggest you be aware that the texture of your hair may change in a negative way after receiving color services here. Also, I might add I noticed form the beginning following color devices that there was/is a chunk of hair that always looked ashen grayish which leads me to believe that not enough color was deposited on those strands which made the color look uneven on that patch and like a patch of grey hair which I don't naturally have in that area. read more

She has saved my hair from brutal bleach jobs and strange hair cuts, and I always leave her salon loving my new hair. I went to CC salon for my wedding balayage and coloring, I sent her pictures of my current hair and what I want , after she has done my hair you could see a lot of different unwanted shades of orange and yellow in my hair , it was for my wedding and it was really important for me so I got another appointment with her to change them to a dark shade to cover all the different shades in my hair, she has done a toning and kept it to cover the yellow part for so long that my hair turned to a very dark brown color, she was not busy but has done it in such a rush that when I checked I still had some of yellow shades on the back of my head. I recently went to Christina for a haircut. I have very thick hair that needs regular texturizing/thinning to keep it from being too heavy and bulky. At first I was concerned because my hair already had a lot of layers, so I was afraid thinning it out would make it more choppy. However, Christina was able to work her magic and actually was able to even fix my choppy layers to look more blended. She was also careful to not thin it out too much and made sure I was happy with the results. My hair is mostly straight, slightly wavy naturally, but my layers would always wave/flip out terribly. requiring me to always have to spend a lot of time with the flat iron everyday. Christina recommended a Keratin smoothing treatment. It definitely made my hair a lot more smooth. I still need to use a flat iron to achieve a perfectly straight and sleek look, but now it takes me less than half the time it used to. My hair is so much more manageable now! Christina listens to what you want, and takes time to explain what she can and will do. Unlike other stylists I've gone to, she actually cares about the condition of your hair and does not use any harsh chemicals. She listened to me and what I DIDN'T want, and then gave me the best cut I've had in years. My experience exceeded every expectation I had by a mile. My hair is not easy to cut, either; a bad and unbalanced cut a few weeks ago left me frustrated, and my hair is thinning, very fine, and I have cowlicks. I have been getting my hair done by Christina for over three years. I've gone from long hair with layers to short A-line bobs, Ombrés, and highlights with all of them yielding exceptional results. She's quick at picking up what your vision is for your hair and accommodating your needs. In the past I've experienced stylists who get frustrated when you tell them you want changes made, whether it's because they aren't doing what you asked for or because I had a change of mind. I have gone to so many places and have spent hundreds of dollars and Christina does the best job.
