I got a very bad haircut from someone, but not from another competitor. It was from someone right there in the Greenwood Great Clips. I hadn't had this person cut my hair before, so carefully described what I wanted. She did anything but what I asked. It was choppy in the back, and wasn't cut to allow my hair to curve under rather than flip outward. You may ask why I gave 5 stars. The reason is that I went back the next day and asked the manager, Irene, to fix it. She did a beautiful job, and this time friends weren't saying "It'll grow out" but "Wow, your hair looks GREAT!" and asked where I got the cut. Thank you Irene, for the time you spent on me and for your welcoming my asking you to fix it. She didn't charge me, but I gave her the largest tip I've ever given for a cut, and recommend you do so also if you're lucky enough to have Irene give you a haircut!!! read more

VIBE- got bitched out for not checking in online. I am glad I didnt- finding a place to park is a sheetshow. When I called, they said "oh you can park in the Towers building'. Well, no one said where it was nor how it is marked, but I was happy on my way to get my hair cut. I drove around a few blocks looking for a spot or the Towers. Found the Towers- it has 10 spaces for all Greenwood retail!! The spot left were for small cars, marked with wreck-your-car cement poles. I left and found a parallel parking spot right in front!! I walked in so happy. I was greeted with NO HELLO. Just snippy brusque, "did you check in online?' I said no and was told in a snippy manner "well there are 4 people ahead of you. You have to wait." She looked away from me, dismissed me. Who would want to wait in a chair near her bad vibes for who knows how long in front of 8 people who saw you get bitched out? I heard a voice ask "shall I check you in?' I declined and left. I did call and tell manager how I felt. read more

Great Clips accepts walk-ins - so I did, Wednesday morning. The friendly Hairdresser had a client in the chair and told me there were 4 people ahead of me. I noticed that there was an 89 minute wait - which - doing the math meant the man in the chair had 9 more minutes, and there were 20 minutes allocated for the 4 folks in front of me. I asked the Hairdresser if there was going to be anyone in to help her. She said no. So, I said I would have to do something else. Poor woman, 20 minutes per cut, with no time for breaks, no lunch, no bathroom - just working on high with bad management. You need to staff your business. read more

ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE. My partner went in for a haircut and was flat-out refused service because the staff claimed he was too specific about how he wanted it cut. He has been a loyal, regular customer here for months with zero problems until now. Denying someone service simply because they ask for their haircut to be done a certain way is outrageous and blatantly unprofessional. The lady she even tell me that they don't do barber cuts as professional, when I ask to trim my beard, she tells me that's extra money, skipping to let me know that the kind of job that I wanted they don't do it. My mother-in-law LOVES it here! She is always given great haircuts and is so pleased with the quality of care taken. My husband also really likes it here, knowing a couple of the hairdressers and knowing that they will do a good job for him. Having the opposite type of hair to both of them, my one experience was not my favorite, by way of haircut, but the hairdresser was friendly, calm, patient and did what he could with my hair (very curly, lots of body and volume; quite unlike his own, which was straight and short). Very disappointed in the stylist we received and how she handled our toddler. I get it, toddlers are difficult (I'll be the first to admit that!) but she was absolutely downright rude. We had made an appointment and went in for the first time. We usually go to sharkeys in Ballard but a few parent friends said they go here and have had good experiences so we thought we'd give it a try. The stylist we were assigned was clearly (in hindsight) not comfortable with kids. That's fine, we get it, we don't mind waiting for someone else, just let us know. She tried putting the tissue paper that goes around someone's neck over his face instead. This scared him and he started crying. As I went to move it from blocking his nose and mouth she immediatelly said "well guess no haircut for you today" and started ushering us away. Very disappointing and just a rude way to treat customers. Back to sharkeys we go where we've never had an issue and we've been many times. l wish I had gotten her name but we barely spoke to her for more than a min before being ushered out. read more

Jeff cut my hair yesterday. He was very fast, polite and actually able to do some very good layers on my hair. I checked in online and when I got there I had to wait just two minutes. I went for a haircut again because I went there six weeks ago and I was somewhat satisfied, except right side length was a little longer. She was the same woman who cut it the last time and I told her that the right side was longer and I ended up cutting it myself. This time she did something so different and unfamiliar to me. So didn't wet my hair down. She only divided my hair into two sections lower and upper. She cut the length of my hair using a large clipper instead of a pair of scissors. I was surprised. I felt the clipper was digging into my skin and I reacted, "ouch, it hurts!" I said that about three times. She said, relax and keep still. I came home showered and while showing I felt stinging around my left side of neck and back of my neck, I didn't think anything about it. Then I looked into the mirror and saw red scrapes around my neck and back of my neck, OMG!!! I took pictures. I called the corporate office and they said they will contact the owner. I owner did call and she asked me to go back to the salon and the manager will take a look at my neck. The manager said "oh it's going away, it will be fine. They gave me a two free haircuts and some hair products but not the products I wanted. I felt awkward them giving me stuff so I would go away. They were do insensitive my skin broke and my skin scars easily and the scars darkened. My skin will not be the same. read more

Recently came here to get a haircut. I've been coming here for almost 2 years. Upon arriving, none of the staff that I'd seen before were there and so I picked a barber at random. I don't know if there's been a change in management but all of the staff were new to me. The last time I came here was at the end of 2017. I've always gone with a faux hawk with a fade on the sides. This usually just means shaving the sides and trimming the top. Halfway through the cut, I became worried as the shape of my hair was slowly becoming flat on top, almost like a square. The barber tapered the sideburns, making a visible vertical column on both sides of my head, uneven with the surrounding hair. When I asked for her to round the corners and fix the square shape, she told me she'd never cut this style before and that she wasn't experienced. She then proceeded to say that she'd never seen anyone ask for a non-square style before. I left with an "almost ok" haircut because I didn't want to end up at a point of no return. I will go back and see if I can get it fixed by someone else. Management, keep your experienced staff. I expect shops like these to make basic styles their bread and butter. read more

Went in to get a cut. Showed the lady a picture of what I wanted. (A simple fade). She proceeded to tell me that they don't do that and only do 'basic' cuts. I should've left right then and there, but I decided to continue. She spends most of the cut talking about how I should go to Rudy's if I wanted a 'designer' hair cut, informs me that they don't want to take a long time to do their cuts. She rushes through the cut and hacks my hair into a mess. I'm in my seat squirming and wishing I could reverse time. Horrible experience. Definitely only going to Rudy's now. read more

I'm tempted...so tempted to get my haircut here. Okay, maybe not. I bring my kid here for about 1/2 the yearly haircuts. I brought the kiddo in because Great Clips is having a sale = $7.99 for a cut until February 1st. Deal. My kid dislikes haircuts and it is a struggle every single time. My child prefers "big hair" which is defined as what most grownups would call long hair. I think my child also means bushy hair since running a hairbrush through it appears to be taboo. Any attempt to cut the hair leads to resistance. Other members of my family come here from time to time as well but they don't have the same haircut phobia. The location is great (if you're not driving). Greenwood does not have the greatest parking situation in the city, particularly with the construction going on. There is parallel parking on the street and some side streets but that's about it. If you're walking or busing, it's a great location. The space has clear signage. Everything is clean and well lit. It's not a crowded space like you sometimes find at other places. There is plenty of room to sit (maybe 10 chairs or so) and about 5-6 stations plus a reception counter. Here's what happened when I walked in and what I saw happen repeatedly: I walk in and a staff member immediately comes over. Which staff member depends on who is available or whose turn it is. The staff member asks you if you checked in online. That means you get priority over people who did not check in online. They also ask for your phone number so they can track you and make hair notes and such. I'd hate to see my stylist's hair notes on me. My kid was seen by Mario. Mario had a great sense of humor. I'm always leery about how people will react to my child since there's a bit of smart-assedness and talkativity there (on the part of my kid). Yes, I've made up words. Mario had a great rapport with my child. I try to stay out of my kid's cuts. I basically go up there to give instructions then sit and watch both my child and the stylist. My kid really liked the haircut and so did I. I wasn't expecting much for $7.99 but it was pretty darn good. There was attention to detail in the cut that was refreshing. My only regret is that my kid get a lollipop and I didn't. But I digress. read more

For $15 I don't expect much. Just give me the standard one where the top is slightly longer than the sides and back. Too much to ask for apparently. What you get is whatever amount of hair-cutting can be done in the allotted time of 7 minutes. When the time was up and I asked the guy to fix the parts that were obviously effed, he took a couple of whacks at it with the scissors and asked me what I thought? What I thought was that the guy had absolutely no attention to detail and too little patience to make sure I didn't walk out of there looking like Lloyd from Dumb and Dumber. I literally had to go home and trim the entire top of my head with my own clippers... let me reiterate: after the haircut I went home and recut most of my hair in the mirror and it was a significant improvement. So the synopsis is you can get a better quality haircut by cutting your hair yourself while looking in the mirror. Or you could go ANYWHERE else. read more

I'm always a little skeptical of chain hair salons, but I read the reviews first on this one which sounded pretty decent. I have to say, the cut I received from Andrew was the best I have had in a long time. My previous cut was at a salon downtown that cost me $60.00, took three times as long, and it did not even come close to the cut I received here last week. The staff was friendly and courteous and the wait was short. All this, and a fantastic cut for $15 dollars, you just can't beat it. I don't usually take the time to write a review, although I should as I have benefitted from all of you who write them faithfully. Hopefully Andrew will stick around for a while like some of the other stylists here. You don't usually find long term commitment at chain salons either, so it must say something positive about the place. read more
