I got a hair cut here by Linda and was very pleased! She was extremely thorough and kind and respected my wishes to keep my long hair long! That is hard to find! She was careful and did a quality long hair cut. I also saw her finish up another customer's bob and it looked fantastic. The salon was clean and well lit and airy. No extras like coffee, tea, or water offered, but the price charged reflects no extras. The cost of the hair cut and style was $41. Very reasonable and I was just as happy as I have been in the past with a $65 hair cut and blow out. Highly recommend for a budget- minded customer looking for a quality hair cut. I spent a long time trying to find the right salon to do my purple hair for graduation. Regis ended up being the one pulling it off with the help of Majid. He clearly explained the color wheel with me and where we had to go to get to purple. I also got a great cut beforehand that complimented my color! The first time around the color didn't show well in my hair in indoor light and I was a little disappointed. For around $120 bucks I did expect something more vibrant. Majid was happy to reschedule another color free of charge to get the color where it needed to be. For my dark hair we had to do foils all over again the next day (a procedure I wasn't sure was damaging or not by doing it twice so close together). However the re-dye worked well and I altered the color to be a tad more magenta to get the color to pop. I really wanted the dark purple to pop but i was worried it wouldn't show up again. I would in all recommend Majid for a color and cut and he gives great deals for a budget conscious customer! I really appreciate the time he took to make it look how I wanted :) My advice to you going in is if you want vibrant popping hair when you have dark black hair: bleach all the way to banana peel white! I wish I'd known that ahead of time to save myself a re-do appointment. read more

Majid recently retouched my color and did such a terrible job. I told him twice that I didn't want too dark of a color because I have so much grey grow-out but he promised me that it would be perfect and just to trust him. He told me he would "feather it in" to match a much lighter color to make it look like a balayage. Suffice it to say that the color was exactly what I told him I did not want and the rest of my hair looked like it was dip-dyed. He asked me how I wanted it styled and I said blown out with a curl at the end. He then got out his flat-iron. So he couldn't even follow the directions on how I wanted it styled. But the worse part? When he was combing me out there was a big knot in my hair and instead of just patiently combing it out, or allowing me to when I protested, he just ripped the actual hair out of my head. Then he laughed it off saying that he thought he was bumping my glasses (like that would have been so much better) I then went to another salon a few days later and got the color fixed and they had to re-do my gray coverage because he didn't do it correctly in the back (where I could not see it) and I did get a balayage from someone who actually knows what that is. It looks great now, but The $100 I had to spend at Regis makes me furious. read more

Why do I keep coming back here? Because it's in walking distance and they can usually book me an appointment within an hour. (When I feel the need for a cut, I need it NOW.) I don't go in for the "required" 6wk cut, but more like 6mos. Don't judge me! So by the time I do call in, the last person I got that I liked is always gone (one went to Derby, the other to Seven). Once though, they kept putting me with this gal Z-something who was quiet and not very communicative (she straightened my hair when I told her I wanted wavy/loose curls, then she used a curling iron on me to put the curls back in [my hair has natural waves] and then noted that "it was a lot of work" to do so. Hello! It wouldn't have been if you had just listened to me in the first place.). After the 2nd-or-3rd time with her I made sure to ask who they put me with and that it was not with her. Since then I was placed with a "master stylist" one time who lectured me on not coming in every 6wks. Then she placed me under a hair drier, instead of doing it by hand with a diffuser. The last time I was there this cute pixie girl gave me a decent cut but kept nagging me about getting highlights. In the beginning I was doing the nice "I'll think about it" kind of no, but eventually I was like: Just. NO. She disappeared for about 10mins and came back with hair color samples, and I was very nonplussed. Another annoying thing here is there is no price list that I'm aware of. When I call, I ask for someone who can cut wavy Asian hair, just a trim of about 3-4." With the basic service you will get your hair washed (which I like the most out of the whole appointment) and then cut and style. But I've been given different rates for what seems like the same amount of work. Secondly, the person who cuts your hair checks you out, so she will see how much I tip. I'll usually wimp-out and even for that Z-person, will probably overtip because that's just how relieved I am to GTFO. I am about due for a cut. With the Gene Juarez Training Academy so close, I may just go there (the location is kind of sketch tho). However, if I once again wimp out, I will likely call the Regis and maybe ask for Matt or Mai. Sigh. read more

So I've been in college for what seems like EVER. During that time I didn't ever spend money on haircuts, and I had this long, fine hair that was down to the middle of my back, which I usually just threw back in a ponytail because it was the easiest thing to do when I was reading copious amounts of stuff and studying for hours on end. I FINALLY graduated from UW this year. It had been so long since I'd rocked any sort of style, and the last time I had it was in my younger, gothier days and involved fire engine red Manic Panic. I had just come home from studying art history in Italy for three months, and celebrating my graduation the weekend before, and I'd lined up a few job interviews. Something HAD to be done about my hair. On a whim while I was at the Northgate Mall looking for interview outfits, I checked in at Regis to see if they could take a walk-in. They were awesome about it. While I waited, I was offered magazines, something to drink, anything to make me feel more comfortable. I didn't feel out of place or anything, and I got to see Lana after not too long a wait. I explained the situation, told her that I needed something that wouldn't take too much to style and that looked professional, and got down to the business of gabbing with my hairstylist. Like you do. So here's the cool thing -- Lana was extremely intuitive. She heard me make reference to my former gothy days and said, decisively, "I'm going to give this professional cut a few little sharp edges." Figuratively, you know. So now I have a great layered haircut that can be great for my new job but also can be manipulated and bent to my will so I don't look like such a soccer mom. She was friendly, talkative in a god way, didn't pressure me on products or anything, and figured out what I wanted without even having to be told. I don't even think I knew I wanted that! I've gotten three of the best cuts I've ever had by Majid in a row now so I figure it's time to leave a stellar review for him. Not only is he warm and professional but with every single cut, I've gotten really specific, random compliments by people (out of the blue) that were all basically "that is a really great haircut and it looks terrific on you." Not like I was saying "oh I just got my haircut" or anything. I just had my first color from Majid yesterday and it was equally impressive. He foiled my hair to correct a blotchy balayage I had done somewhere else and now it's perfect. He knows I am growing my hair from short to long and that I just want to fine tune the color every three months or so to have light tips when it's grown out. At this point - I simply trust him with my hair to get me thru this process so I can get my hair long again (with his precision cuts keeping me from suffering too much thru the awkward middle length part) and keeping my color, that he perfected, looking amazing. Marjory at Northgate Regis cuts my hair, and she is pretty much the sole reason I'm willing to travel all the way from West Seattle to see her and get my hair cut at the mall, a place I normally avoid whenever possible. Marjory is a precision stylist, a rare thing these days. She listens to you and really works with you to get the cut right, a feature I've historically found only at high end salons (and too-big-for-your-britches-Gene-Juarez, I don't mean you). Despite her talent, her cuts are super reasonable. I think Regis is lucky to have her. I'm pretty particular about my hair (about most things, actually). I have long, thick hair that I prefer to let grow. I've had stylists bitch about this in the past. Marjory never has, and I've never left her chair feeling less than fabulous. read more

I am always less than hesitant to get haircuts because they never turn out right but this time was the exception. I got a cut a style a shampoo and blow dry for less than 60$. That also included my bottle of conditioner I bought. He gave me good advice for my hair care. I was happy because I got such a good deal. I've had haircuts more expensive that weren't as good. I was hoping I would like this salon since it's close to my house, but that was not the case. I came in on NYE to get my hair curled for an event I was attending that evening. When I arrived I showed the stylist a picture of what I wanted, which was basic curls with my hair swooped to one side. While this seems easy enough, it was not done well. She didn't use any kind of heat protectant spray before using curling iron, or any hairspray or product to help the curls keep there shape throughout the evening. When she finished I had to ask her to use hairspray and edging cream, which she used very sparingly as if she was almost out. Needless to say the curls had almost completely dropped out just a few hours after my appointment and I had to redo 80% of my hair. However, I decided to give this salon one more try and came in the following weekend for a basic wash and flat iron, but alas it was another bust. The sinks were clogged when she was trying to wash my hair so we kept having to move, and the product she used dried out my hair. Furthermore, she tried blow drying my hair while it was still dripping wet, and then tried flat ironing it while it was still damp. read more

This salon is soooo great!! I had a bunch of errands to run at the mall and decided to drop in and give them a try since I was short on time. SO GLAD I DID. Stephen was my stylist, we had so much fun! :) all the stylist seem to be good friends and it's a great atmosphere. I had previously gone to Gene Juarez in Uvillage, spent $285 for them to butcher my hair. TERRIBLE. Not to mention their customer service there was awful. Stephen listened to me, empathized, and talked me through the whole hair cut, it's perfection! I love it. I'll be back to do my color and cuts with him! Caitlin Nicole is amazing! I went in for a trim and a thinning since I am going home for Thanksgiving next week and didn't want to look like the overworked college student I really am. I didn't have an appointment but she took me back right away, we talked about what I wanted (JUST A TRIM!!), and then she asked if I wanted a deep conditioning treatment (which I said yes to on the spot). That turned out to be the only problem I had, because the hair shampooing sinks weren't that clean, and while I was sitting under the hair dryer other stylists kept walking by to their break-room and giving me these looks, no smiles, which felt kind of awkward. However that's bad marks for Regis, not Caitlin. But then Caitlin spent FOREVER on me which was so sweet, she took her time trimming, drying, thinning, and STYLING my hair, and it looked absolutely amazing when she was done. She had really listened to what I wanted, didn't take any more off than what I asked for, and showed me how to curl my hair with a straightening iron so I could make the look work at home. I felt so bad that I couldn't tip her more than I did (help me I'm poor). However, on her card it says she does makeup too so perhaps I can book her for my engagement shoot next month? I've never had my hair cut or styled at Regis Salon but discovered recently that they carry Moroccan Oil that I was needing. I'm not one to judge if you want to get your hair cut in the mall but I prefer to not be watched by people passing by when my hair is in foil and/or soggy wet. The staff is usually light with only 1 or 2 people there and there is always a table at entry way with a "50% off" sign on it. I never find anything good on the table but likely overstock that they can't clear through. I'd only come for products you can't find elsewhere but 'in salons'. read more

I started going to this Regis salon about two years ago, when I was transferred to Northgate for work. It was right across the mall from my job, so it was easy and convenient for me to get in. The girls I see there are Mai and Melissa, and they are both absolutely wonderful. They always give me great tips on keeping my hair looking healthy (it is SUPER damaged), and which products would be best for me. I've gotten partial foils, trims, hair cuts, waxing, you name it. Those ladies have done it and I have loved every service! Mai is their manager and I believe Melissa is the assistant manager. They get booked very quickly, just an FYI. I've also gone to one of their newer employees, Marjory was her name I think. She has a really cute vintage style, with awesome tattoos also. She's gave me a cute blow-out for a date I was going on, and I got compliments on it all night! Another plus is that they almost always have some kind of promotion for their products! I buy all of my haircare items there, and have rarely ever paid full-price for them due to all the great deals they've got going on. She made my experience such a great visit because she was able to give me a style and cut that I was looking for. She'll listen to what you want and share her own ideas with you about the cut. It was easy enough to trust to her so I let her do whatever she wanted and it worked out well. She's the only reason I keep coming back there because she knows my hair and let me tell you, there's a lot of it! She knows exactly what I want without me needing to put anything into detail. I told myself I shouldn't have gone back here after a not so good experience before, but I was desperate for a haircut and Gene Juarez was booked. I only need 1-2 inches cut from the bottom but when I told my stylist that, she gave me push back saying I needed more. While washing my hair she didn't even scrub my scalp or work the shampoo through all my hair. She applied conditioner all the way to my roots which is completely unnecessary and elementary hair washing common sense. While she cut my hair she didn't face me toward the mirror and instead faced me towards the mall entrance. I didn't realize it was all going to hell until I looked over to see her cutting WAYYYY more than I wanted off. By this point, it was too late. By the time she blow dried my hair I looked like a cocker spaniel ready for a do show. SHE GAVE ME LAYERS AROUND MY FACE. I am beyond disappointed and upset that I left leaving with CHOPPY, THICK pieces around my face. I 10000% will never step foot in a Regis ever again and am kicking myself for thinking I could go back for just a trim. I seriously do not know how this place is allowed to be open and cut hair. I've been going here on and off for about 5-6 years now. I have had both good and bad experiences, but keep going back for convenience's sake. As someone else mentioned, they're always able to squeeze me in at the last minute. Unfortunately, that usually means you don't get to pick your stylist and their skill levels vary immensley. The last time I was there, a woman named Jewel cut my hair and did a great job. Actually, it was the first decent haircut I've gotten there....I've had much better luck with getting color/highlights there. Overall though, if you can't book with Jewel, I'd try the Greenwood Hair Academy. I've had much better haircuts there overall. The students who work on your hair there are doing so for a grade and their instructors check over their work and make any small adjustments. I went to Regis because I needed to get my hair fixed badly. I had my hair done in Mexico 1 week prior and it was horrible. I had my hair highlighted with blonde highlights but the lady obviously didn't know what she was doing. After I returned home I decided I had to get it fixed. I called Regis at Northgate and got an appointment at 4 pm with Harley. When I went in for my appointment, Harley was very concerned with the way my hair looked and was adamant about fixing the spotted giraffe look I was left with. Harley blocked out her schedule for the rest of the afternoon and was able to completely fix my hair. She added low lights, highlights, toner, a deep conditioning treatment, and even fixed the cut. I could not be any more happy with how it looks. She even gave me a hand massage while I was in the dryer and styled my hair. I enjoyed her services and company so much that I have already scheduled my 6 week touch up appointment with her and she has found a new regular! I would recommend her to anyone. read more

I LOVE HARLIE I came in with box-dyed hair that I'd cut myself. I was a mess. I asked for someone who'd be able to fix me, which I was told was going to be a pretty difficult thing to do. I've only been twice now, but both times I've been very satisfied. The first time, a year or more ago, I can't remember the young women's name but fixed a very bad cut I got else where. The only down sides for me were I didn't have a lot of time spend so it was a rush in the end and it's more than I like to spend. $65 for the color, $35.00 for the cut but I can't I didn't my moneys worth. This time Stephen took very good care of me and I don't think the pic does it justice. He gave me a great bob, which is very difficult cut despite it simple appearance.
