    Korean Rice Bowl
    Jane N.

I ordered the Korean bowl because it was recommended by the waiter. I can't really tell if it tasted good because it was drowned in hot sauce! The meat was seared yet still tough. I couldn't bring myself to eat bloody meat! The waiter did not check on us often enough. He forgot my sons extra sauce even though he said he would bring extra on the side. The waiter argued with us that there was enough sauce. He made no apologies for recommending a spicy dish to me. The led light above the table was so blinding that it gave my daughter a headache. There should be a diffuser on it. I had to place my food directly under the light to see what I was eating. It totally ruined the ambiance which to me seemed like a fast food bar. Because I didn't want to stay a minute longer! . It was pretty terrible! Had the waiter returned after we took a few bites I would have ordered something else.

Salmon DLT in, and I was really excited about the curry soup, which did not disappoint. I also tried the jambalaya, which is excellent. Will definitely be back :-)

Stopped for a quick lunch with my daughter and her dog, Bella. Wecwent to a different Great Dane first, but they were not dog friendly, boo, so we came here. We were seated immediately on the outside patio and loved meeting the other dogs. Our waitress Christina was so sweet. I ordered the Wisconsin Mac and cheese, which came with a warm pretzel bun. It's so good that my daughter started eating my lunch, lol!! She ordered the Big Dog Smash melt, substituting the beef with a black bean burger and her side was waffle cut fries. She enjoyed both. I had a pint oof their monthly wheat beer and my daughter had a mojito. Both drinks were good. Would definitely come back when visiting my daughter in Madison.

Chicken Pot Pie, Cheese Fries, Crispy Seared Brussels Sprouts, High Point Harvest Bowl

We were passing by Madison and saw this location and the one downtown. The downtown reviews were better, but we assumed the menu/recipes couldn't possibly vary that much, so we came here since it was closer in route. Unfortunately, we were extremely disappointed with our entire experience. *Long review alert: It was a late Sunday afternoon, so not quite lunch or dinner, but they decided to seat us to an even emptier upstairs. We thought that was strange when there were open tables downstairs. The host gave us brunch menus, but according to all the signs, brunch already ended. We asked the server bc we didn't want to order from the limited brunch menu, but she told us that was the only menu available... My fiancé went downstairs to double check, and sure enough, the host apologized and gave him the full menu. When our server finally returned again to take our order (20 mins later), we asked for IPAs, but she had no idea what beers were available. We showed her the website offerings, but apparently they didn't have the ones we wanted. The beers she named off, she said two were IPAs, only to find out later, they definitely weren't. If she wasn't knowledgeable on beers, I would've rather she said that than try to play it off and give false info. Not only was the server slow, the kitchen was even slower- food took 40 mins to come out. The Crispy Seared Brussels Sprouts were soggy and super greasy- drenched in sauce. The High Point Harvest Bowl had potential but was very lightly flavored. The Cheese Fries were also soggy, and by that look of it, the Chicken Pot Pie was a let down as well. We overheard the server talking to a nearby table boasting she's the best server at the restaurant and management listens to her. I'm embarrassed for the restaurant if she's their best. She was acting all cute with her tables, but she couldn't handle any questions or actual service. I'll leave C unnamed. We saw another table sit unattended and had to go ask someone for the server to come take their order. We saw her clean up a table and something spilled on the floor. She passed by on her way back but never went to pick up or clean it up. We also waited another 20 mins before we were able to grab her to get our check. We unnecessarily dined in for almost 2 hrs. The food was edible, so that's the 1 star, but this was a poor ending to our weekend road trip.

Greeted and seated right away! Our server was awesome. I was curious if I'd like the waffle fry and made a joke about trying one, he went to the kitchen and brought out a fry. He had great humor and was so attentive. Overall the food was okay. The smash burger was not a smash patty, and the fish was over cooked. Fries and cheese curds won the show. It is a comfortable place because ample seating options. Our server earned major points.

Went here last Monday and had a great lunch. My granddaughter and wife ordered the French onion soup. My daughter ordered a chicken soup, which she thought didn't have much taste. I ordered the chicken pot pie and it was very good, but very hot...had to wait til it cooled off. We ordered the pretzel and beer cheese, which was very good. Service was good, atmosphere great..

    Sophie Y.

Ordered the beer cheese potato soup and pork chop for dinner. The bowl of soup wasn't even full, more like 80% in the plastic soup container. The center of the pork chop was pinkish which wasn't cooked thoroughly. I had to pan fry it since I didn't want to get sick by eating raw pork.

Y'all do not sleep on the Pretzel Board! It was amazing! Loved there was a selection of dipping sauces - garlic, horseradish mustard and cheese! The horseradish had a good kick. For a Saturday afternoon, it was very chill and relaxed inside the restaurant and the service was great. Michaela was great and very helpful!

Stopped by for a quick bite and was pleased with the Pretzel Board. The pretzel was exquisitely made and accompanied by beer cheese, a potent mustard, pickles and a very garlic forward butter. The server was delightful and the dining room temp was a pleasingly chill for the warm day. Overall a mellow and calm environment for a bite.

Great Dane Pub has become one of my favorite spots in Madison for a variety of reasons from the drinks, vibes, service and community support! Situated on the corner of Doty and King in downtown Madison, Great Dane is a welcome sight for any visitor or local looking for a chill spot to have a solid drink, tasty bite and/or a good time! The pub is one large space, but it is separated into a few unique areas. One side is quintessential pub with a long bar, lots of dark woods, and a good sized dining room. The other is more of a pool hall vibe where you will find the other side of the bar, several pool tables, lots of TV's, high tops, darts, etc...We have bellied up to both sides of the bar and while I like both sides, I prefer the vibe of the pub side. They have a fairly extensive food menu with several bar/pub classics such as wings, nachos and burgers. But they also offer a good variety of sandwiches, bowls, salads, soups and even tacos. While we are normally here for the drinks, we do enjoy the cheese curds, wings and poutine! Speaking of drinks, they always have a great menu of house cocktails that is constantly updated for seasonality. I have had several iterations of cocktails and since I visit a few times a year, I always get to try new seasonal cocktails and beers! Service is always stellar here, no matter what side of the bar you are on. Welcoming, friendly and helpful...every time! Overall, I am an absolute fan of The Great Dane Pub!

The cauliflower wings were pretty good, probably our favorite dish out of the three. The truffle mac and cheese was okay, definitely a very strong essence of truffle and kind of liquidy rather than thick and creamy. As nacho connoisseurs, we were not fans of these ones at all. Beer cheese does not belong on nachos particularly with limited other toppings! Everything besides the bread part of the bread pudding was better - ice cream, whipped cream and strawberries. The outdoor patio overlooking the pond is especially beautiful when the weather's nice. It's also dog-friendly, which we love! Our pup is always happy to come along, and we even picked up one of their dog toys from the merch area -- easily her new favorite. They've got some fun merch for humans too. The beer selection is solid, with something for everyone. We've really enjoyed the Lil Louie Lager and Badger Club Amber, and they always have a few rotating taps that keep things interesting. His sandwich came with no Buffalo sauce and he thought his garlic Parmesan aioli lacked flavor but when I tasted I realized they gave him avocado aioli instead. The fact so much went wrong with the meal had us scratching our heads - was this a kitchen mistake or had our server just totally mis-entered so much of our meal into the system? She did action the changes but seemed confused at first for how to solve my partners no Buffalo sauce request. As a previous server it would have been a no brainer for immediately getting my customer what they originally asked for. The food tasted great, but all around was such a poor experience we won't return. It felt like with all the mistakes there was no sincere apology on the servers end, just a shrug and "oopsies" mentality. There are too many great restaurants in Madison to be spending money at places where service isn't prioritized.

The cheese curds at this place used to be hand battered, but now seem frozen. The dipping sauce was a nice compliment, but not the most fresh. The kids loved their Dino nuggets with fruit and ranch. The Mac and cheese was buttered noodles with sprinkle cheese and didn't have an actual cheese sauce, we would not recommend. Everyone else at the table got some version of the fish fry.
