Great Expressions, Keller, TX 'crooks' Dental Professional I found them through my network. The crew were friendly and the dental work was completed. They had me pay all dental work in advance and then, if my PPO paid I would be reimbursed. They actually said, "your insurance will not pay some of these charges." I needed the work so I paid. My insurance paid half each time I went so I should have been reimbursed their payment, but I wasn't. When I asked, I was told that their were services that they would not pay. I understand that but I paid all services in full and they paid half so I should receive the refund. Their accounting stated that there is no refund. I am contacting the BBB and sending copies of my documents versus the ones they just sent me. Fraudulent company taking teachers hard earned money and thinking that it's ethical. I wish I had read these reddit reviews BEFORE going to Great Expressions, Keller, TX. Another clue should have been how the dentists leave this location. read more

I went to the Plano location on Park for cleaning. Unfortunately, my insurance company doesn't deal with good dentists. First of all, if you have dental insurance through Guardian, drop it. Worst dental insurance company but that is another review. Second of all, this place is not clean! It is truly disguisting. When you are on the chair, you see all the left over stains on the light. They don't have any coverings for touched places. I felt extremely uncomfortable being in that chair. Third of all, they try to scam you by unnecessary cleaning and treatment plans that cost $3,000-$4,000 after insurance. This young and arrogant guy, Shamik Shastri comes not telling you anything until you sign their papers. Talks about a game plan to charge me thousands. Dude, this might be a game for you but not for people you are taking advantage of.. Your parent must be very proud of you. Wow, what a scam!!! OMG....Where do I begin? I had an appointment to get 2 of my teeth pulled (one top and one bottom). I'm in excruciatingly pain and have swelling so at this point I don't care I just want them out of my mouth. I go in on a Friday morning and do the normal process of checkin, handing over my drivers license and other info for dental treatment. Then I go in to get that x-rays and then meet the dentist Dr. Han to go over my x-rays and options. She asked me how I got my Spanish last name and when I said my husband is Spanish, she proceeded to ask: are your kids his? (Like wtf kind of question is that). As if it's expected of me to have random kids with random guys. (To her disappointment my kids ARE my husbands)....moving on..... After agreeing to options, I'm taken to the front to finalize everything and pay. Here's where it went sour after the other crazy question. I mention that I want it pulled but later I will get implants. At this time I couldnt fork out the 1k plus for the procedure and was in pain so I just wanted them out. So the young lady goes back to Mrs. Han and lets her know I don't want anything else but extractions. At this point I have paid for the services. The young lady comes back and said "we can't provide services to you today". WHAT THE HECK...... I'm upset, in pain and out of money. I was also told the dentist doesn't feel comfortable providing services to me. Remember I had an appt, we agreed to extractions and I paid. So I simply asked for my money back. They asked for me to come back Monday and I wouldn't need a refund, I said NO refund now please and you can schedule me. They subtract their portion and reverse the card. I left and found another dentist who did 2 root canals for me, a thorough examination and understood my horrible ordeal and worked with me now new budget and now I'm good. I have been going to this office for over 2 years now and have only had one bad experience, which they handled very quickly and professionally. Although they don't do everything at this location, the network they have set up goes a long way. I've been to 3 of their DFW offices for different procedures from regular cleanings to deep cleans to root canals and crowns. My mouth is extremely messed up from the shoddy dental work done in the Military. I had a lot of stuff going on under the silver fillings and they saved quite a bit considering. They are always upfront with the procedures they are planning and I have always been presented with something to sign authorizing them to do the work before they even take the blood pressure cuff off. read more

Do not go to this office! They will scam you for unnecessary expensive treatment! I was given a treatment plan for 89.00 deep cleaning (my Insurance pays for deep cleaning) when I returned to have the cleaning they gave me a treatment plan for $393.00. I went to another Dentist for a second opinion and he said all I needed was a routine cleaning and my gums looked fine. read more

I would not recommend Dr. Shamik Shastri for a cleaning. First, the cleaning tool buckled in my mouth and hit my gum. Seems like a novice error. Second, he had the chair positioned where my head was below my feet and repeatedly asked me to open my mouth wider. When I extended my neck to open my mouth wider so that my airway would not be compromised, he pulled my chin down. When I asked that my headed be raised he refused to make any adjustments. He should have offered to raise his chair to accommodate. At any rate I ended the cleaning immediately because of his unhelpful attitude. When Dr. Gonzalez did my cleaning, I had no issues, but she isn't there anymore. read more

Beware!!! Standard cleaning became a $1000 dollar recommendation and if I didn't except the extra they refused to clean my teeth. This was the most unusual dentist appoint I have ever had in 40 years. When I first arrived everything seemed normal. I person claiming to be a dental hygienist brought me back. I think she was a dental technician. She took more x rays than I have ever been through in my life. She said this was a full make up. I have had that before but never 15 plus x rays. Unusual #1. Then the actual doctor came in to greet me and talked for a good 12 minutes. She was very nice too. She began to investigate my mouth and told me things looked good but started recommending many treatments. I have never seen the doctor before my routine cleaning. Her tests were unusual and hurt and made my gums bleed by inserting a metal poker in between my teeth. She said I needed this special deep clean to stave off future issues. I told her I just want my bi annual cleaning paid for by my insurance. She understood and never returned again. Unusual #2. The front receptionist was very nice too and had the new charges well documented for insurance costs and my costs. I was completely confused. I told her I just wanted what I normally receive from a dentist in the last 40 years. She understood and told the dental tech that I would not be taking the additional cleaning recommendations. The tech told me that we were done and to check out at the front desk. I asked her if I was getting a cleaning to scrape off any tartar etc. and she said no. Wished me a good day and walked off. I went to the desk and the receptionist offered their own dental insurance instead of mine for the future. By this time I was coming to my senses and said no thank you. She could tell I was not happy with the experience. It looked like a normal dentist visit but the experience was like nothing I have had before. I have had only 3 cavities in my life and I have had no issues with my teeth except for 1 crown I needed because I chipped a tooth playing tackle football and it exposed my old filling. This is the worst dental office I've ever been to and I'm kicking myself thousands of dollars later for not researching reviews. I had braces and finished the plan before I moved to Texas but I left in a hurry I never got my final retainer from my orthodontist and went a couple years without it that my bite was a little off but it didn't really bother me. I just needed to have someone make me a retainer so it wouldn't get worse. I made an appointment to do that and the GE dentist at the time convinced me I needed to do invisalign. They offered me a promotion for care credit with zero interest for 36 months so I agreed. She preped me for the treatment and began shaving the sides of my four bottom teeth. It freaked me out and I asked her why she was doing that and said I needed to do that to fix my bite. Big mistake. I should have listened to my gut and told her no because now after finishing invisalign, I still have spaces there. AND more spaces throughout my top and bottom. I told the newest dentist there that I was concerned about it and needed another adjustment. She kept reassuring me that I didn't need to and the final retainer will correct it and that my teeth looked beautiful..blah.blah. They look just as straight as they did before. Bite was corrected a little from invisalign but I feel like they look worse now with the spaces they caused and the cement mess on my teeth they couldn't get off. Also, my alignment with front teeth and center of face is way off because them. My teeth don't feel secure in place either. The first retainer they made me in house was awful. I couldn't shut my mouth with it on it was so bad. I don't see how they couldn't just look at it and know that it wouldn't be comfortable or even keep my teeth in place. I wanted them to make me a new one but they said I needed to buy invisaligns retainer with was another $300-400 for only one and if I wanted set of 4 about a little over $600. I didn't know this when I signed up. A receptionist there actually told me once before that I paid them extra money for them to make me one which now after this I'm confused about that. Getting invisalign with this company was terrible not only from the service but I had a new dentist at least 4 times in one year. Everytime each new dentist didn't know about my plan or seemed to know what was going on. If you need orthodontic advice or work, find a good orthodontist and not a general dentist. Especially if the office is a chain and rotates dentist like crazy..they screw up your whole plan. Thankfully, I never agreed for them to do any other work they wanted to do on me. (Extra Xrays, cleanings, cavity fillings, and gum treatments.) I had a bad feeling about them and went to a very nice professional holistic dentist almost an hour away for other work to be done. The dental assistants were awesome and nice but everyone else sucked so bad at their job!! I will never be back and neither will my husband. read more

I chose to take my kids to this dentist because they advertised in Natural Awakenings-a holistic, natural-minded magazine. They touted that they had a biological dentist on staff and all sorts of things that appealed to me :-). So I guess, it was ultimately my fault because I let my guard down...before I knew it, they had already taken x-rays of my kids' mouths without even asking (they had had x-rays at their last appointment at another dentist and they weren't complaining of teeth hurting or anything--I just hate to expose them to radiation for NO REASON, other than they dentist can now charge my insurance company for them). I had my three children there, so I was a little distracted. Anyway, then they had their cleaning. I went back to the treatment room and politely asked the dental hygienist if we could forego the fluoride treatment-that I'd read some studies on it, and didn't know if I was comfortable with it. She said she knew the studies that I was talking about and that those were based on children ingesting it, not having it put on their teeth. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE? Some medications are giving sub-lingually, specifically because it enters the bloodstream faster through the mucous membranes in the mouth. Ugh. And then she proceeded to put the fluoride on my daughter's teeth anyway, right in front of me. Like I wouldn't notice?! I am a fairly-educated person--I was a pediatric RN for 10 years--I don't know why my concerns were completely disregarded. The bottom line--just be warned that, although this practice advertises in a holistic magazine, there is nothing holistic about them. They wouldn't even let me leave without making another appointment. And so I did and just came home and cancelled them. What's done is done, but I'd love to stop others from making the same mistake I did. Like the other reviewer, I feel like this office is more about making money than anything else. I'd been going to Dental Arts since they were owned by Farmer and Metz. F&M were excellent. Then Dr Amer took over. She gave me several crowns and they all had problems with coming loose. This occurred multiple times on some of the crowns. Eventually she got them to stay on. When Dr Amer left, Dr Han became my dentist but no one told me what was happening. Communication of the transfer was nonexistent. Recently, I had a crown come off. The temporary crown came off in 2 days. They reseated it and that temporary crown came off in 4 hrs. They reseated it again. This was all very painful. They said it was 6 yrs old so I had to pay for it. I was told by Dr Amer that it should last a lifetime. I had to ask what the warranty was and they said 3 yrs. The crown had to be redone after the initial installation so I think they should have extended the warranty. I had to ask about this request several times. After several weeks, they just said `no' without any explanation to covering it under warranty. Also, they said that my insurance would not cover it unless it was over 7 yrs old. I pointed out the discrepancy between their warranty (3 yrs) and the insurance coverage (7 yrs) but it didn't make a difference. Bottom line - Poor communication and difficulty keeping a crown on. I now understand why so many negative feedback for this dentistry! In particular, Dr Angela Han is bad! She and other people there look nice, behave nice, but they are just trying to deceive you. All they care is your money, not what you need! I have been doing my regular cleaning every 6 months and always no problem, then because of my insurance change, I came here. Then she told me that I needed a deep cleaning! I've now got my cleaning done at another office. No problem there at all! What a miserable experience, I have since found a real dentist. My experience here was bad from the first appointment when the staff, claiming be health/holitstic conscious were not, as they insisted on taking 30+ Xrays and a panographic Xray before even examining me. I should have left then. I had several follow-up appointments to have amalgam removed through a safe procedure, which his staff completely forgot to set up, another repeat visit. Each time I returned for an appointment, the treatment plan changed and the teeth needing work changed. I paid for a crown to be replaced, and after 2 weeks it came off, I had it reseated and again it came off. I went to a different dentist who took a picture of the crown and showed me why, the crown did not fit and there was a gap at my gum line. I do not recommend this dentist. read more

I had two crowns done about 2.5 years ago. Both have since broken. One broke off completely. I learned from my new dentist that it was never sealed properly and now I have decay under the crown, requiring me to get a new crown plus a root canal. The other one had the inner side completely chip off. read more
