If i could give no stars - i would. Refused to pull up my line of credit so i could get services. Had a horrible attitude. I was very frustrated that i took off work for nothing. Despite what their website says, they DO NOT offer nitrous or sedation for patients with extreme fear/anxiety about the dentist. Then when i left, i had to come right back in to ask a question, and the front desk girl was laughing at me, not realizing i was coming right back in. Don't waste your time, money, or effort. This is the worst dentist office I've ever been to in my life. They overcharge and do a poor job on your teeth. I got a crown with them almost two years ago and told the dentist several times that it wasn't properly sealed. They told me it was fine and just last night I went to floss and my crown with my whole tooth came off attached to it. My tooth was decaying the whole time due to it not being sealed properly. Hubby went for his every 3-4 month teeth cleaning. They force deep cleanings almost every time which he has had there before. He finally got in at the dental college and now knows what a real deep cleaning is like. Monarch is all about forcing services on you and the upsell. We are done! read more

Monarch dental is overpriced and dirty. Dr. Patel and staff are okay. It's the Ortho Dr. Benjamin that needs to clean house on his side of the building. Take a look at the pics I posted because you would not believe me otherwise. The place is filthy. I think the room is used for consultations bc the Invisalign monitor is in the room. However, first impressions count. If there are hairs, wires, stains, etc. I don't want the doctors hands or tools in my mouth. What really turned me off about the Ortho was that he'd rather put crowns in my mouth than close my gap with braces. Are you nuts? Even Dr. Patel was against the idea. NO ONE WANTS CROWNS JUST BECAUSE MAN! I went back to the Ortho and he was adamant he could close my gap without crowns, which I didn't believe him bc he could have said that in the first place and save me time and money. The guy charged me for a permanent retainer when he KNEW I is was in the market to get braces anyway. Gross Experience. read more

I have had my last appointment with Monarch dental. I was over-billed by almost $200 according to my Explanation of benefits from my insurance and when I called they said they would get it in the mail. Never heard anything so I called again and was told by office that they didn't owe me the amount the insurance company said. I should have just let my insurance company handle it because I was treated so poorly. They said they had not received the EOB which was totally false. Then they said they didn't have my address, which was also untrue. I left messages that were not returned. Finally called corporate who called them and made them talk to me. Horrible office staff. Very unprofessional and definitely untrustworthy. read more

Still don't recommend this business, at all. Have been harassed to pay a bill which at this point, I don't know what it possible is for (it's been almost a year with all this nonsense) but my hunch is that its for xrays that were done at this office for a crown retreatment. They said I had to get xrays done in order for them to do the retreatment, I noted to them that I had already gotten xrays done the week prior at their other office in dallas but they insisted I get xrays again (having seen both xrays: 1. there's literally no difference between the ones done in the rowlett location and this location and 2. the machines appear to be exactly the same so why require me to get xrays done again?). Got the xrays done and I assumed they'd be covered by insurance. Fast forward several months, I get a bill in the mail saying I owe them money which I was confused by since they said the xrays should be covered, lo and behold, I had already used up my benefits when I saw them first time so when I got the xrays done, I was being charged OUT-OF-POCKET for the xrays since I had no benefits left for the second round of xrays (btw I got this bill after changing insurance so I can't even apply my FSA card towards this). They already knew this yet still told me to get the xrays done without telling me it'd be an OOP cost, if I had known that I wouldn't have gotten anything done since my insurance provides FREE xrays with their providers (US Imaging). And you cannot tell me y'all didn't know the benefits were already used since I was referred to this office by the Rowlett location so obviously I had already gotten work done there. General cleanings get xrays done so if I had to get referred to this office, obviously I've already gotten xrays done AND y'all have my insurance on file so you know what is allowed and what isn't, y'alll literally know more than I ever will about that insurance plan. I'm going to pay this bill since: 1. y'all keep harassing me to pay it even though the services were solicited with gross negligence, 2. I'm not going to let y'all charge me more AND/OR ruin my credit by sending this to collections/dragging this out even longer. Don't even get me started when it comes to disputing or questioning claims, whether in-person or over the phone, good luck getting anything figured out since they'll give you the run around just trying to figure out basic information, unless you're booking an appointment or paying a bill calling them is essentially useless. I know in my last review i called you guys upwards of 20 times since there's so much miscommunication going on between all your departments that no one knows what's going on each time I call. Word of advice for the future: if you truly care for your clients/patients then VERIFY what benefits they have left and let them know in ****GREAT**** detail so they're aware what might be their responsibility to pay, the disclaimer on the form literally means nothing when YOU as a servicer know with greater likelihood what the customer will end up having to pay themselves. Unless you're paying in cash (all dentists/doctors love this since they hate dealing with insurance as the middleman for payment), I'd suggest you give this place a second thought before going forward with them. If you want this review removed then refund me or drop the fees since the headaches I've had dealing with this place deserve a review to warn others. There is no reason going to a dentist that's IN MY NETWORK should be this big of a hassle. FUN FACT: chain dentistry ON AVERAGE will charge more for services than non-chains and the only reason they don't charge you even more, is due to the contracts (how much they agree to pay for certain services) they have with your insurance provider since there's a limit to which they're willing to pay which again, is why they LOVE people who pay with cash since they can literally charge you as much as they can/want/legally are allowed to. Absolutely the WORST experience ever had at a dentist office. Went in for a new patient exam / cleaning - did not expect 18 separate views and a Pano X-ray that took all of my first 30 minutes there, not to mention loads of unnecessary radiation. I have been to dentists regularly my whole life and X-rays typically take a few minutes. Next, a general dentist came in for two minutes and did a cursory "exam" saying things looked generally okay. The hygienist Alina came in and did a perio exam and instructed me I need a gingival deep cleaning. I have not once been told by any previous dentists that I need a deep cleaning and I refuse to believe that between this appointment and my last cleaning just several months ago, that all of a sudden I now require gingival cleaning. I told her I would be fine with a basic cleaning today and will follow in 3 months - if at that time a deeper cleaning is required we can do it then. She seemed perplexed and left the room. Then the office manager Chad came in and gave me an estimate of all extra services that wouldn't be covered by insurance (including the cleaning) amounting to some $250 or so. I told him what I told the hygienist and he said we simply cannot give you a basic cleaning in lieu of the gingival cleaning. I asked him for a full release of my medical records and X rays and will never return. This place is a JOKE and a SCAM. Looks like from several reviews that this is their main play, to strong arm everyone into non-covered services. Please do not waste your time and skip this unethical place at all costs. read more

After having the appointment confirmed several times the day before they told me I had to come in three hours early because he won't be there at the time that they have verified with me via text and phone call. They are good to get you into the chair at your appointment time which I really appreciate because I dislike when you are forced to be in the waiting room for long after your appointment time. Hygienists and staff are friendly but if you don't like chatty people you may not like them. Dr. Patel is one of the better dentists I've had (been with her for 2 years) but once she gets comfortable with you I feel like she tries to sell you more on items like electronic tooth brushes and Invisalign (which I don't think I need at all). The hygienists are great and I find myself in long fun conversations with them throughout the appointment. Although one hygienist I feel she didn't do a very good or thorough job with my cleaning. The office is located slightly off view from the road on the second story of a stand alone building that is behind a bank building. They don't have any televisions hoisted on the ceiling like other more modern offices for you to watch when you're in the chair. One thing I love about this office is that every single time they give me a goodie bag when I leave which keeps me fully stocked on travel items for my trips! read more

Avoid this place at all costs. I came in for a routine dental cleaning that is covered by my insurance. After meeting with the dental hygienist I was told I only qualify for a $300 specialty cleaning since my gums were a little inflamed. I do not have $300 and planned on my free cleaning through my insurance. The dentist refused to give me a general cleaning as I scheduled. They told me I can come back when I have the money. I wasted one hour of my morning and took off work doing all the x-rays and waiting on the dentist for nothing. This place just wants to up-sell you and get more money. The billing is always wrong, the staff has no knowledge and in my opinion the work is subpar and expensive. These people got 240 dollars from me and my insurance, and I am still in pain for the one tooth I went to see them. They took double the cancer risking X-rays (for the same tooth), once at the dentist and then again at the endodontist (they recommended) from their same chain, where I got 6 shots of novacaine, that is where the endodontist walked out and their financial lady walked in with a new higher cost "estimate" of what I got at their dentist, claiming that my insurance didn't cover the procedure, urged me to call the insurance. However, I agreed to the new and "improved" higher "estimate" despite that insurance problem, yet she returned over and over with different ladies, with another estimate and then another, after the 5th ever increasing"estimate" for a root canal mid procedure, I walked out. I was told it would be 600 some dollars initially, but they went up to 2000 some and it "could still be higher" they said . That only for the root canal, then they had to do two more procedures after that to save the tooth...at that rate I'd be paying 7000 dollars for a molar, if not more... Then they had the nerve to charge for consultation in both places. read more

Dr. Patel was my dentist years ago, and because of some job changes, and re-locations, I wasn't able to go back to the Plano office. The last straw was today when I went to Castle Dental in Round Rock (also under Smile Brite) to have a crown re-fitted. No big deal, right? Wrong. I will save my review for them, but long story short, I have scheduled a follow-up with Dr. Patel's office in Plano, 200 miles away. Totally worth it to deal with someone you trust. read more

Update: I was going to this Monarch Dental for treatment of TMJ, which caused excruciating headaches. I requested that my file be transferred to my primary care doctor's office so that he could take over the pain management. Because of my 'outstanding balance' , Venetia and Sandra have refused to transfer my records. I have since done some research and found out that holding a patient's records hostage due to an 'owed' amount is against Texas state law. I am going to the Texas Medical Board tomorrow. Original Review: This is not the place for any patient that likes to be treated with courtesy and respect. My personal experience with the office staff has been horrible. Despite numerous requests, I have been unable to get a complete copy of my file, or of detailed invoices for the astronomical charges (over $6000) to my Care Credit account. Why the mystery? I didn't know what to expect after an examination I was told I did need a root canal on 1 tooth but 2 others were questionable. He proceeded on the one and I'm here to say after the numbing shots I felt nothing. My recovery was easy and I found Dr. Gordon to have a terrific bedside manor. His office was friendly and professional. My luck didn't hold out within a few weeks it was evident those other 2 teeth needed root canals and once again Dr. Gordon and his office were great it all went so well. If I needed a root canal rest assured this office and Dr. Gordon at Monarch Dental in Plano are perfect for the job. read more

And to boot, now that I need some records for my new dentist, complete silence from Monarch. I never thought that I would ever recommend a dentist but my opinion changed when I first went for an exam to Monarch Dental and met Dr. Brenda Patel and her staff. She made me feel very relaxed and unlike other dentists did not pressure me into treatments. I went in today for my fillings and I had laughing gas by my side because I can not tolerate pain at all, but I must say that I did not need it and everything was over before I knew it. Her assistant Chasidy was very respectful and kind and made me feel very comfortable. It's been two hours now and I feel perfectly fine and I intend to go back for further dental work. Had a root canal done today. No problems yet! The Dr was friendly, and seemed sweet as was his staff. I suppose the only complaint I have is that they didn't offer any prescriptions, not even the good ibuprofen and now that the injection wore off, it's pretty painful. Regular ibuprofen hadn't helped, nor did naproxen so I guess I'll call in the morning! The only thing of note, and this may be the feminist in me, when the male patient before me left I happened to hear the doctor advise him to call if he needed something stronger than Tylenol. No such advice for me, maybe it was because I was woman, and it's proven that doctors don't take women's main seriously, maybe he was tired, whatever. But I do think it speaks to consistency of care. Other then that really don't have any complaints, he was very personable and genuine. Root canals suck, and I'm sure when people write reviews they are hurting. This is the worst Dental facility you would ever see, never believe the front desk people about the co-pays. I received a huge bill after all the co-pays I paid. Insurance company thinks they over billed everything and which I believe is correct. They asked me to pay thousands of dollars as co-pay and mentioned this is all it needed and there could be possible returning some of the co-pay after insurance is claimed. Instead they sent me more bill after the insurance claim. This is total ridiculous, now I received a collection notice. I never received a collection notice in my whole life, Monarch dental sucks!!! Would not recommend. Took off work to go for a general cleaning, got all the X-rays and imaging done and didn't end up getting the cleaning because the hygienist had to step out. Was asked at the beginning if I wanted the cleaning which is a very odd question because that's the whole point of the appointment ?? After seeing the dentist the suggestion was to get a cleaning not covered by my insurance because of slight gum inflammation (MAYBE around 2 teeth??). Had to take off of work to go back in to get the cleaning I should've gotten the first time and now the cleaning was going to cost twice as much as the first estimate because of forgotten costs associated with it - so I refused and asked for a general cleaning that my insurance would cover and they refused saying the dentist would have to approve and she wasn't in office. So two completely wasted visits and I never heard back from them on rescheduling. Very unorganized and definitely made it feel like they were just looking for money which made for an unpleasant experience despite most of the employees being nice. read more

Need a root canal? Go see A specialist. Dr. Gordon has done 3 successful root canals on me recently, after having several in 30 years fail that were done by regular dentists, then having to have them extracted. Dr. Gordon is amazing! He is thorough and not stingy with numbing. I just had a retreat on a molar that had a previous root canal and a previous retreat. He saw what no other dentist had seen. There was a distal canal that was missed! He saw it and took care of it. I also have trigeminal neuralgia, which is a nerve disorder in the face. The tooth he worked on had a temporary crown put on by another dentist. I was in excruciating pain. I went in to that office and asked for help. They looked at me as if I were a drug seeker and wouldn't even call my dentist. After spending over $4000 on 3 root canals, 4 crowns and a bridge, the last thing I wanted to do was go to the ER and pay a $400 copay just to get a shot of toradol, so, I called Dr. Gordon's office. He viewed my xrays and immediately knew it was a nerve flare up and was quick to call me in antibiotics and a steroid. Thank you Dr. Gordon and thanks to your team. They are more like salesmen. They just want your money and will push to get treatments done that are not required on your first visit. My husband went in on Thursday April 13,2017 to remove an existing infected root canal. Prior to his procedure he was given antibiotics to get rid of the infection. On the day of his removal there was still an infection. The procedure went well with only using local anesthetic. He went home with a packet of information & prescription for another antibiotic. He experienced quite a bit of pain after the novocaine wore off, however, using ice packs & Tylenol seemed to keep the pain at bay. On day 3 he began to experience greater pain without any relief. Tuesday the 18th he went back to Monarch Dental to see if someone would give him something to relieve his pain .... he was told to leave & they would call him later. A nurse called him in the afternoon & told him to continue with current meds, he couldn't see a Doctor until Friday the 21st because it was too soon since the surgery. He is in horrible pain constantly - his breath smells like an infection & all pain meds don't relieve the pain! I've never had a surgery where you can't see or speak with a Doctor even if it's only been a few days after. I'm almost positive he has a " dry socket" but homeopathic isn't even helping. Of course they are paid in full!! DON'T go to this place!! If they treat surgery patients like this then beware of any other dental needs!! I'm contacting News 8 .... read more

Just a money grab dental office. I went in their for my routine cleaning and exam. The dentist said I need a $700 deep cleaning done. This is the cost after my PPO insurance. I told her that wasn't in my budget and if I could get my regular teeth cleaning. Dr. Patel said "Well we didn't diagnose you with that" - I have never heard from any dental office that I need to be "diagnosed" with my routine cleaning that my insurance covers at 100%. That was totally ridiculous for them to have to diagnose me for my routine cleaning. If my teeth were in real need of a "Deep" cleaning but the patient can't afford it. Why wouldn't you at least offer the regular standard cleaning?? Anyways changed my dentist and I don't need anything since my teeth and hygiene are good and always have been.
