Ooh! my goodness gracious! It's all about the Sunrise roll y'all if you haven't had it before you have to try this breakfast sandwich, it was a 10/10 I've never eaten or tasted anything like it. The pumpkin cake loaf was a 10/10 as well. I can't believe I'm just now finding out about this place. Don't take my word for it get down here now‼

Bakery by Willamette river with scones, muffins, breakfast rolls, and sandwiches. Got some day old pastries (50% off), a Sunrise roll ($5.25), and a hot 12oz latte ($3.75 + $0.75 soy milk). + Sunrise roll: size of your face and dense bc it's filled with hash brown (hefty!). Egg is cooked well done. The crust has a nice crunch, and tastes like whole wheat. A bit too much hash brown filling for me, but think it just needs some ketchup or hot sauce! (7.2/10) + Hot soy latte: simple and delicious Stumptown coffee (8/10)

Throughout Covid-19, they have remained open with a smaller Menu, doing their absolute best to continue feeding the community. Located on SW 2nd, just blocks from the Justice Center, the restaurants in this area have been hit even harder. I pass this place every single day on my walk, and finally decided to walk in as my willpower finally gave out! And then I came back again the next day, as the pastries were that darn good! For my first visit, I chose the Marionberry scone, a huge, round, desert plate sized scone loaded with the delectable berries. Wanting to enjoy it with a cup of tea while sitting, I carried my treasure for a mile until I got home. It was worth the wait! It was just lightly sweet, my preference, and it was the perfect mid morning treat. Large enough to share or save half for later that night, which I did. On my return visit, I chose the twisted cinnamon stick, and another marionberry scone! The cinnamon twist was divine. It was the last one in the display case so clearly a popular item, and for good reason. The pastry was both filled and dusted with cinnamon & sugar, with bits caramelized in places on top. The flavor reminiscent of the Elephant Ears you buy the Saturday Market, but thicker, served room temperature and without all the added butter. It was so big, it was impossible to finish in one sitting so I saved half for an after dinner treat. While the pastries and bread are delicious, the woman at the cash register was an equally fabulous part of the experience. What a gem! Even though she waits on people all day, and has to manage the line to keep social distancing with one person in the shop at a time, she greets you with such a warm and genuine smile! We had a delightful conversation and I left with a smile on my face. Kinda wish this wasn't on my walking route because now that I finally stopped in, it will be super hard to resist!

This place was AWESOME. I can't remember the name of the breakfast pastry I posted, but it was basically a pastry with an egg and hash browns and cheese baked into it, which was incredible! They had a version with bacon in it too. When we ordered, the cashier offered for us to try samples of a few other pastries, so I tried a piece of a Kouign Amman, which was so good that I purchased one immediately after trying it. It reminded me of a sweet croissant with cinnamon and sugar, but it was perfectly done. I ended up eating it several hours later in the day, and it was still great. I actually debated going to this place again the next day because of how much I loved it. Would 100% recommend trying out! Can't lose.

I'm not normally a fan of chains, but Great Harvest is fantastic. I walk by here almost everyday on my way to work and it always smells so great when I walk by. If I feel like eating a yummy treat, this is my go-to place in the area. I've had their scones, coffee cake, bread pudding, and savory pastries as well. If I had to pick my favorite, I highly recommend their marionberry bread pudding. It's super moist and not too sweet. My second favorite pastry would have to be their sunshine roll. It comes with bacon, eggs (I think there were 2 baked eggs on the top), hash browns inside the pastry, garlic, and cheese. I picked one of these up on my way to work and I ate it for both breakfast and lunch. Super flaky and super delicious. The pastries here are a little pricey ($3-5), but absolutely worth it. They're huge, always fresh, and just dang tasty. The younger man who helps me every morning is also really friendly and makes me feel like I'm starting my day off right. It won't be good for my figure, but I want to try every pastry they have here at some point. I bet they're all delicious.

Entering the shop, you will be greeted by loud music. Be ready for that. You will have the option to dine outside, if the weather provides it and the seats are empty. The hosts are wonderful and very accepting with a positive attitude. Smiles and all. I ordered the Jim because it was the only sandwich I could eat. The majority of the sandwiches contain meat, so I would not recommend this for vegans or pescatarians. Jim was delicious and I consumed both halves of Jim flawlessly. Either hunger overruled me, or the sandwich was that satisfying. I do recommend the shop, but with limited options for non-meat eaters, I truthfully would rate Lottie and Zulas, 4.5. Yet, I don't believe the spot was "good."

We also had the Vinny which was fine, a bit spicier than I thought it would be, but I'm a wimp. The service was fine, not overly friendly but adequate. The food is 4 stars, the service 3 starts, but the real bummer was all the plastic. Plastic container, plastic cups and we were eating in. They asked if it was to go and we said no, but everything came in plastic anyway. The ambiance is quintessential Portland, right up until they bring all your food in plastic with plastic silverware to boot.

Let me start by saying I didn't take pictures. For anyone who reads my reviews, that's a big part…read moreof them: ALL THE PICTURES. Presentation, portions, half eaten, etc... but I didn't. Because the food was so damn good. Look - I'm going to start off by saying I grew up practically on The Hill. Out here, you'll have to Google it (make sure to add 'RI' to the search or you'll get some political BS), but back east, "alls you's have ta say" was those two words and anyone would know you knew your Italian, food and otherwise. There isn't anything on this coast that vaguely compares to The Hill's food, but walking into and biting out of Geraldi's was having a little piece of home. There's this little shop in the old town where the owner knew your voice when you called to order... you'd walk in, and you heard "hey cousin!" whether you were or not, and that's the vibe you get from Geraldi's. The food is much the same - you get something that looks like Nonna was at the range all day with her sauce (it's not gravy - no meat) and you came home looking like you haven't eaten in weeks: "I'm gonna fatten you up before you leave" and you walked out the door with a sub (sandwich, that is - not a submarine) that weighed the same as a newborn. We got three of those babies: a Chicago Beef (seal of approval from the orderer - only 'complaint' was that they had to eat it all in one day because the bread was quote too soggy to make it to lunch the next day - travesty), an Italian sausage (just as delicious when 1/2 was reheated the next day) and a Chicken Parmeroni (I thought somehow even better when 1/2 was reheated the next day) and I could have absolutely gone back the next day if it weren't for A. the leftovers 2/3 of us had and B. the meal planning we'd done for the week. I also grabbed a side of giardiniera because I will get it anytime I see it available and I inhaled it - I need to know if I can by it by the vat instead of the side cups because it too was similar to what I can find at home (about practically nowhere out here) and amazing!! I'm still upset I didn't take pictures though!

I started with the Spicy Geraldi, which is normally cold - but you can get it hot - highly recommended! It was toasty and amazing! Between the genuinely friendly hospitality and the flavor combinations, this spot hits it out of the park and is a must for sandwich lovers. Griddled Mortadella (5/5): An incredibly delicious sandwich that perfectly balances rich, salty, and savory flavors. It comes loaded with a generous portion of grilled mortadella and melted provolone cheese, perfectly moistened with a tangy mustard aioli. The fresh lettuce and bell peppers added a satisfying crunch to every bite. Chefwich - K-Town Steak Sandwich (5/5): A limited-time creation packed into a banh mi roll. It had a generous portion of perfectly tender and sweet bulgogi steak that pairs with their melted jack cheese. The gochujang mayo sauce had a subtle and sweet heat, while the fresh kimchi added crunch and slight acidity to balance the rich meat. Elote Tater Tots (5/5): Definitely a creative side dish. The tots were perfectly fried and topped elote style with cotija cheese, pairing well with the smoky chipotle mayo on the side. Logistics Tip: Street parking is surprisingly easy to find in the surrounding area, even on a busy weekend evening. The restaurant has a spacious layout with plenty of seating options both inside and outside. If you're a first-timer, don't hesitate to ask the staff for suggestions, as they're exceptionally warm, welcoming, and passionate about the menu.
