Ate here on Friday because I felt like a pork egg roll with chicken and broccoli and pork fried rice with a Pepsi. The egg roll tasted greasy and not fresh at all. The human chicken was decent and the pork fried rice was good. I won't go here again because I witnessed the male owner of the business hawk in the trash while not missing a beat prepping takeout orders. I couldn't get that visual and the sound of him hawking phlegm in the trash in my presence out of my head. And he did it at the exact time I was eating my egg roll. I swear I almost threw up my food. We have been getting takeout for many years with really no complaint. However this last order was totally not fit to consume. The fried rice and Chou fun was immersed in oil. Walked in to place my order and The Woman behind the Counter Quickly pulled her mask up from hanging on her Chest, came back to wait to pickup food and No Mask, No Gloves, being worn by Person Cooking the Food , I walked out without my Order and will never return, if that's the kinda commitment you have to potential and existing Customers , you Deserve to Fail ! I don't know how much more you could want from a Chinese food place! The food is tasty, it's cheap and it's open till late at night! Never had a problem with the service and they always make it quickly. My brain and stomach are happy I live within walking distance, my doctor on the other hand, probably is not. read more

I'm finally writing a review for this amazing place! It took me a couple of dining at other eateries to realize that Great Peking has got to be good consistent Chinese food for me in the Pelham area. I think on average I call for takeout here about twice a month! Food is absolutely delicious, service is fast and prompt, and prices are good. My favorites are hot and sour soup, crab Rangoon, general Tao's chicken, and shrimp egg foo young. They have an extensive menu but I usually order those items. Just recently I tried the bean curd in garlic sauce and it is my favorite right now! So whatever ordered here will be a hit! read more

The food always arrives hot delibvered by polite and friendly staff.My faves: vegetable fored rice, spring rolls, ribs, beef woith string beans (tender and loaded with veggies), cashew chicken . Even though I work in the area, I only recently decided to try food from this place, and I wasn't at all impressed. My local Chinese food spot is exponentially better, so I guess I forgot how hit & miss other Chinese take-out spots can be. I ordered the shrimp & broccoli in garlic sauce and it wasn't too great. The sauce tasted like the garlic was burned and it was hard to get past that taste. The service could've also been a little more pleasant. I probably won't come back. read more

We tried this place twice and both times we were disappointed. The last time, I watched as my order was prepared. A cook dropped a cloth he was using to hold the handle of one of the woks and he immediately looks my direction. I look away for a second then notice that he's holding the wok handle with a cloth AND the one he dropped is no where to be seen (except maybe now in his hand... the one cooking my dinner). Yuck. I'm just going to come out and say it: Great Peking is by far the best Chinese restaurant in the vicinity of Pelham. Ever since I found out about them a couple of years ago, I haven't felt even the slightest desire to order from its competitors. When ordering, the people are polite, receptive, and personable, and the food always reaches my house within half an hour of hanging up the phone, a welcome change from the previous restaurant I ordered from, which usually took between 45 minutes and an hour to reach me. If there's one factor that truly puts Great Peking head and shoulders above its competition, it's their willingness to specially-make and alter their food to suit the desires of their patrons. I, for one, strongly prefer spicy sesame chicken over the bland over-fried garbage available at Great Peking's competitors, and am in the habit of asking restaurants if they can prepare it so that it'll be spicy enough for me. I've been to precisely one restaurant that always actually makes it spicier for me, and that restaurant is, you guessed it, Great Peking. It isn't only their sesame chicken that's good, though-over the years, I've tried almost everything on their menu, and every single entree that I've gotten has arrived at my door hot, delicious, and cheap. Their fried rice isn't disgustingly greasy, as it so often is at other Chinese places, which is a big plus in my book. Finally, the portion sizes are INSANE. One ten-dollar order of sesame chicken is enough for three decently-sized meals. I can't emphasize enough how great a deal this place is; getting a huge quantity of delicious, specially-made chicken for ten dollars? You'd have to be insane to order from Pelham Palace. read more
