Food is solid for an American-Chinese spot, and the portions are generous for about $15. We ordered the beef with broccoli and the shrimp lo mein--both were tasty, with nicely velveted beef and more shrimp than expected. The dishes lean a bit sweet but are still enjoyable. I don't mean to overreact but East Bamboo is without a doubt the worst most disgusting "food" I've had in recent memory. I've had it before and it was never great but tonight was exceptionally gross. Anything fried tastes like it was all cooked in the same rancid oil. No distinct flavors between dishes just a generalized greasy mush of bland tastes that will leave a film residue in your mouth. Anyone who knows the restaurant business knows that these places all get their food from the SAME huge Chinese food wholesale suppliers. The good restaurants doctor up this corporate trash as best as they can or make some dishes fresh, the bad ones serve what they pick up as -is. The only good thing about the East Bamboo meal is that tomorrow is Friday and I was able to put everything in the trash for pickup. The shrimp with lobster sauce is excellent. Firm shrimp & thick sauce. I substitute scallions for the peas & carrots which makes it better. They always accommodate special requests within reason such as no sauce on the boneless ribs, which are tasty without the extra sauce. The egg drop soup is really tasty as are their egg rolls. The food is fine, and the service is very quick. They only have 1 size for some orders which is a little dumb but whatever - like you'll have to order a large and pay $15... no small available. This is a simple, counter service place that features a few seats for dining in but is predominantly a take away and delivery joint. I've tried several of the chicken sautée entrées, and all are tasty. I've also had the lo mein (pork and mixed veggies), which were equally as tasty. I got the shrimp in lobster sauce and was very disappointed. The shrimp (though large) were horrible! VERY mushy and not fresh tasting. The sauce was very watery with no flavor. I think the food here is on a downward slope. read more

A traditional egg roll is the same as they always have been, while neighboring institutions have shrunk egg rolls to spring roll size. A nice meaty portion on lunch specials, and not a mountain of vegetables with a few pieces of protein, like others have become. Our family moved to Eastchester, NY the last week of October 2019, and found the owners of East Bamboo very friendly. Who doesn't love Chinese restaurant? The food was good, and the prices were decent. Recently, last week of October 2022, I was informed that East Bamboo was sold, and they have new owners. The first time I ordered in person, a young woman was overwhelmed with walk-in customers and the phones. I ordered sat down and waited and watched one man become very rude. The owner came and did his best assisting this woman. Sure, I got my food and the complaint at home was the rice was missing. I normally don't go out as often because of these high costs, in prices. I recently ordered the lunch specials and noticed the serving container is smaller, prices went up a notch. I ordered beef and broccoli and had received more rice and less beef and broccoli, which is a disappointment. Even the fish aren't happy many have died and have been replaced with smaller ones. read more

Everything I've tried has been delicious. They're one of the few places in Westchester that still makes a great egg roll. They're full and crispy. This may be the worst Chinese I've had in some time. I was in the area and most reviews here were good for the food. Well I ordered sesame chicken combo plate and upgraded to pork lo mein instead of rice as others had suggested. The lo mein was terrible. It was a little slimy, maybe they put the sauce for the sesame chicken on it but it was terrible. Inedible. The chicken was soggy and all very small pieces and they dumped about a quarter cup of raw sesame seeds on top. The egg roll was nothing special with not much pork or filling. Shrimp toast was overcooked and also nothing I would recommend. I'm very sorry I ordered from here. I threw out 3/4 of the meal. Save your money. read more

This is not a fancy Chinese restaurant, instead it is like one of those take out Chinese places you might find all over the 5 Boroughs. When I first moved up to this area from the city, I was so happy to find this "hood" Chinese spot...but don't get me wrong, it's not one of those greasy, gross and grimy Chinese spots you might think of if you think of City Chinese take out.
