The last time I went roller skating was probably 1987, at Skaters World in Wayne, NJ. My sister invited me this past Saturday afternoon and I was no disappointed. All that was missing were some acid washed jeans and scrunchy socks to complete my trip back into the 80s. We had a great time! IT was PACKED. There were tons of birthday parties so my only real complaint was the lack of tables and food. They literally were out of hot dogs and pizza for non party skaters (insane, we had nachos. boo). The music was great, the dj was fantastic with getting the kids involved, and the training skate mate rental for the little kids was great. We'll be back :) read more

My kids love this place. The light show, and music are awesome. It cloud use a little updating in the decor. But it is a very fun atmosphere. We recently celebrated my daughters 5th birthday at Great Skate. All the kids...and adults as a matter of fact had a blast. We would like to especially thank Joseph, our hostess with the mostest! He was amazing and kept the party going without me having to lift a finger. Thank you Joseph for your professionalism and for keeping my kids entertained! 2 Thumbs up for you!! Now the reason for the 4 star instead of 5 was the food...we didn't get to have our platters of nachos that came with our VIP package and the pizza was wasted simply because the kids had 2 huge slices on their plates (part of the package) which they barely finished one. Maybe instead of putting slices on plates, just leave the slices on the trays. Just an idea. The taste of the food...it was just ok. We will be coming back, though...for sure! I headed over to the Glendale Great Skate to get my skate on, and I really enjoyed myself. At first I was a little hesitant to go because I'm an adult, but I went on a Monday and it was more of a family atmosphere. Also, there were plenty of adults. The music was current, the employees are very friendly, and they have fun games like "stop and go" and skate backwards. They also have a "referee" on the floor most of the time to help fallen children. I heard they have Ladies' night on Sunday nights, so I'll definitely be checking it out. Before COVID my friends and I would always go to the adult Sunday Night Skating and it was so fun. The music was always on point and everyone had a good time. But I just went last week and was very disappointed, the vibe on the rink was not the same and I think it might be due to the music selection. I have been going to Great Skate since I was a little girl. It's SO fun going back to this place as an adult! I love the fun music, lights, and games! It's nice that they offer deals a lot on daily deal sites too. I am not a huge fan of the skating 'sessions', but it seems like most skating-type places have these sessions now. read more

This is a fun place to skate. The DJ does a good job with the music and activities. The food is good offering an array of popular junk food. they had a police officer ‍ present which made it feel safer. I don't know if they've had problems in the past but it's a good decision to have him there. Skating is fun and good exercise. Also a good alternative to get out of the heat! read more

I was in Great Skate for a Bday and witnessed a "Manager" named Taylor berating her employees to the point of tears. Very unprofessional language was used by her and I would never tollerate someone with her title to ever act in such an unprofessional manner. If she was my employee I would fire her, what a disgusting attitude. I highly doubt this is the first time she has acted this way towards her employees as they all look beat down and mistreated, I would not recommend supporting a business that has such low regards for the employees and even less for the "Managers" in charge of them. The DJs appear to be middle aged men who like to flirt with their underaged co-workers as if there is no age limit. This place definitely sends me back in time with it's retro interior and the fun disco lights they have on the rink. Ok so this place needs a make over, and I would never spend 10 dollars to get in and then another 3 dollars for skates on a Friday or Saturday. However I love Monday discount night where it is 3 dollars to get in and that includes skates. I took a little kid that I work with who had never skated and the people were so nice to help up get him on and off the floor. Went last night for a semi private event.In my opinion,that's the only time to go.I was happy to see it seems they made some improvements since the last time I went,however the floor is crappy with a few rough patches that need to be worked out. Maybe it's just that I've been spoiled by high end rinks like Roxy,Metropolis,Lloyd's and the Paradise that are all sadly no more (except Lloyd's,but I don't get to Canada as often as I used to).I liked Surfside for their staff and great floor,but they are gone as well. The "golfers" are more into talking to their buddies... I saw at least 8 kids bust their ass and it was right behind one of them... I felt so bad for the kids one even got ran over. A bottle of water is 3.00 I'm not sure what kind of magical water that is but damn it must be magical. This place was bomb when Zack and Andrew where here. I gave 2 stars because of the music otherwise would've given 1 star... The line to get in was very long, They have 4 windows but only use 2 and that's just the beginning . Getting the rental skates takes a while too so our time gets wasted just waiting in line. Forget about going to the concession stand. The line was long and service was ridiculously slow people waited in line for 15-20 mins and since you're on a time limit it's really irritating.. I could not reach a live person via phone. I left a message for the sales manager. No one called me back. I decided to take the short drive to Great Skate to inquire about skating. Music was playing inside. I knocked and said I need to ask a question. Music stopped. I heard people talking inside. I knocked again. No one answered the door or acknowledged my presence. They could have told through the door they were closed. They didn't value me as a customer enough to do that. Terrible establishment. I am deeply offended and disheartened. We had our nephew's birthday party at great skate and they showed all of the kids a wonderful time! They went way above and beyond in their customer service to take care of our party from the beginning of the party to the end. Elizabeth was our hostess and did a fantastic job! we were so grateful to be able to have such a wonderful birthday party for our nephew and that was due in part to the staff at great skate!! This place reminded me of Chuck E. Cheese. Rink was closed for an injury when we arrived but we were not told that. We were charged for a full skate session and barely got half. The attendants didn't care when I asked about it. Told the rest of our party who arrived 10 minutes after us they had to wait an hour until the next skate session to join us, even though our session would be over. Last night we had a horrible experience here. Dropped my kids & their friends off for a fun night to end up turning around 5mins later and picking them up because their poor excuse for security kicked out one of them after they let him in because of dress code. Which I get dress code is a rule. Fine. But does that mean they tell a child to get off the property because they are trespassing now and they dont care where the "hell they go". Mind this is at 930 pm. When that child was simply waiting for their ride to return. Instead they chose not to handle it as responsible adults and called the cops on this child for standing outside in a well lit safe area while waiting to be picked up. This kind of behave is unacceptable a y normal caring Human would've wanted to make sure that a Child is in Safe environment and gets home safe. The security personal is rude, biased and has no compassion for the Children that come to this establishment for a fun and safe time. read more

This place has come under new management in the last 3 months and is making much needed improvements. They are trying to do the right thing and are aiming to create a good experience for the customers. It looked like a dump 6 months ago and they are making notable progress. PROS: 1. Joseph is a great employee and asset to Great Skate. 2. The manager genuinely cares and tries to create good customer experience. 3. Most of the staff is friendly and kind and smiles to show it. NEEDS IMPROVEMENT: 1. Carpets need to be vacuumed... not sure they ever have been??? 2. Bathrooms need some very obvious repair. 3. The method of entry needs some SERIOUS re-design. I've stood in line multiple times for nearly an hour to get in. MGMT knows this and is working to improve it. If a nicer rink opened up anywhere on the west side of Phoenix this place would quickly crumble... however, if the improvements continue THEN I think it's hopeful for Great Skate to thrive (and I hope it does). read more

This Great skate location was unbelievable.. I understand about security and COVID but they are over doing it! I took a group over Teens changing there lives from broken homes and poverty, they went to have fun instead they were harassed by the way they look, VERY DISAPPOINTING, being watched like there criminals every minute, I spent over $200 plus there combo 3 of them, (meals) $20 for 8 slices of pizza and 1 pitcher. Then 2 kids get harassed and security tells them they can't skate after being there 1 hour, because he has a handkerchief over his head but there was a female with a handkerchief over her head, And the reason why... because they kid cussed at them.. so security had there feelings hurt, WOW! We stayed till the end 10:30 pm but I'll never take a group over there EVER EVER AGAIN thought I'd put it up if any groups like mine are going, FROM BROKEN HOMES, I'm not talking about rich kid( groups), I'm talking about kids that don't have it all!! Trying to show them new places, how to have fun! They could have handled it differently, again if groups like mine want to go have fun Great Skate isn't the place!! read more

Just had my son's 6th birthday party here and it was a blast. Everyone had fun, even the adults! Music was good, food was good and the price was amazing! Y'all had a whole year to ONE WHOLE YEAR to fix that fucked up ass floor to many cracks dips n tape ! Over the dints ! Not safe at all ! Secondly I think adding a night that's actually adult night would bring more money in. Adults come to the adult night only to find out its 18+ plus NO . There needs to be a night for 21+ also there should be more rules on the floor If the middle is for the beginners then there needs to be more referees on the floor in forcing those rules or at least ones who actually want to be there doing there job not playing tag on the floor knocking ppl over with the customers. y'all say skate at your own risk but if your getting knocked over by a referee every now n then I thought they were there to help not play. I had a birthday party for our 3 year old daughter on a Sunday 3:30-6 session. I can't say enough for the staff there. They are GREAT with kids. We only had a few people in our party, so they got the whole staff together in singing happy birthday to her. I've seen some posts concerning prices, but I thought they were very reasonable, and worth every penny for the service they provided. I will definitely go back when she turns 4.
