Grease stains on my new stair runner (with proof of date which matches the date they installed the units)
Rebecca K.

Dylan came to my home mid June 2021 to provide a quote on installing 2 ductless mini splits. He said that if I went with the system he was recommending, "he could get me $2,000 back" via my energy provider's rebate program. Given this rather large incentive, I went ahead and agreed to go with Great White Mechanical for installation. I signed the agreement with them on June 22, 2021. On Aug 17 2021, I was contacted by Great White who advised that the units I ordered were on backorder due to pandemic-related supply chain issues. At that time, they offered to install 2 different, cheaper units and said that the rebate would still apply. I asked for the difference between the two (other than cost) and was told Dylan would get back to me however he never did. As a result, I declined and said I'd wait for what I originally ordered. Between mid August and early November I had to follow up with Theresa several times asking for an update on when these units might back in stock. Often times I was left hanging without any response. There was zero initiative to keep me, the paying customer, informed. On Nov 15/16, 2021 they finally came to install the units (side note: during the installation process, they almost ruined my new stair runner by putting down filthy drop cloths. While I understand accidents happen, they never bothered to alert me to the stains; instead they left me to find it on my own! Attaching proof of this with the date of installation since, in another review I left, they claimed: "There was no disregard for the customers home, our technicians are careful while working. The home was kept clean during installation, please do not fabricate.") Once the job was complete and full payment was provided (minus the cost of carpet cleaning), I asked about the status of my rebate. After many months of repeated follow ups to be ignored for weeks at a time (again), they told me that I am no longer eligible because the units were not installed by Jun 30, 2021 (essentially 4 days after I signed the contract...clearly not even remotely possible!) They made NO mention of this change in rebate requirements at any point in time between Jun 22nd (when I signed the contract) and Nov 14 (the day before they installed the units). On top of that, upon delivering this bad news, they essentially told me it wasn't their fault, that I need to take it up with my energy provider, and that these rebate programs change all the time. While that may be the case, I find it completely misleading that when I signed the contract, Dylan didn't advise me to reach out to PSEG directly to confirm eligibility of the rebate program. I also find it completely surprising that they weren't aware of this change or knew about it shortly thereafter given how often they deal with energy providers and their rebates. Instead, this company lead me to believe I'd be getting back a sizable amount of money. Given their lack of (and sometimes misleading) communication throughout the entire process, their discourteous attitude when I asked for additional information/clarification, as well as their total disregard for my home and keeping it clean during the job, I do NOT recommend using Great White Mechanical for any of your HVAC needs.

Unit which we needed replaced but GWM felt "overwhelmed"
Cs M.

I never write reviews but feel I dodged a bullet with this company. A week ago referred by Angi, Adrian Grant from Great White Mechanical, 23 Birch Street, Midland Park, NJ 07432, (201) 797-0031 came to view our old boiler and see quote scope of job to replace to new one. This agent was very arrogant and rude. Suggestions and views were expressed in a very condescending manner. I understood his point of view but as a customer, he did not care about our preferences to remain with same fuel source. He wanted to push his own recommendations no matter how I clarified why we were going a certain route At every turn agent stated a road block and issues for a unit that had been installed by a certified HVAC. I explained that this all seemed standard practice for installing a new boiler and if they felt they couldn't handle the job to let me know. Agent continued to detailed things that needed to be done as if it was an overwhelming task. Again I expressed you're professional HVAC company to do whatever was necessary include it in the quote for a new unit install. Finally, we finished and said our goodbyes. I asked when I could expect their cost estimate and they said in a few days. I knew when they left they were going to leave me hanging. A week later, I called and asked if they needed anything from me to move things along for the quote. I received a call back from a lady "Charash" who informed me that they are backed up. I understand but it has been a week. I asked should I call in 2-3 weeks see status of quote. She snidely remarked "maybe, try, I hope so, that is what they are telling me". This prompted me to look at this company's BBB (Better Business Bureau) which I should have done beforehand. They are not accredited and have a C rating. Just a cautionary note on this company's treatment of potential customers, can't imagine what would happen if they get your $$.

Cabinet damage and what Great White considers a fix!

Great White destroyed a brand new kitchen cabinet while doing work on our $100,000 kitchen remodel. I have reached out to Dylan, the owner, through numerous e-mails and he will not return calls. The company sent a discounted invoice leaving me to find a company to fix the cabinet. Dylan has not made a single effort to contact me or fix the problem. I would not recommend this company to anyone.

My house in Wyckoff, NJ. Great white has done all hvac work on since 2014, major work.

I called Dylan at Great White when the HVAC unit wasn't working in the summer, then 2 more times for heating issues.

Fortunately I don't have many plumbing issues, but my first call was always to Martin Masters…read more So, when I called them about a very slightly leaky tank toilet and a frozen cutoff valve on same (meaning that I'd have to cut off water to the whole house to shut off the toilet), and got a response that they wouldn't be able to make it until mid-January, I found another plumber (Absolute Precision in Saddle Brook and I can't say enough nice things about their work and professionalism). If that's their attitude to a long time customer, well, let's just say that, though I should be happy that they're busy enough to where they're backed up for a month, they'll never be hearing from me again. And if they tell other customers the same thing, that waiting list should disappear in no time!

Absolute rip off and it starts right at that top with Martin. Tried to charge me twice as much for…read morea simple boiler cleaning as last year's price and then had some line about busy season despite having an non-emergency appointment 2 weeks in advance. Complete hog wash, and it's clear he makes up his prices as he goes and gouges customers as he can depending on your need...even worse huh, the type who will kick you when you are down. Read the other reviews, this is his business practice. I would be wary of doing any business with this firm as even if the up front price is competitive, if it leads to more you'll get the old switch then. Personally, I'm embarrassed as a local to Midland Park that this is part of our community and feel he should be ashamed of the business that bears his name. Like a shark to blood, you will simply be the next one Martin Masters tries to exploit.

I went with another company who was very professional while being much less expensive. Although they spent a total of 10 min. at my house they still charged me $135.00. Ridiculous!!!!

I said ok, that's fine but I'm telling you the problem with my ac, gave me a condescending attitude as if I'm not making any sense. So he goes out to see what's wrong comes back after 10 min and says I replaced a part so your total is $xxx and with the diagnostic it's $xxx total $xxx. And you need to replace a motor, said exactly the same problem that we already knew and said in the first place and replaced a part without even asking me if I still wanted it which is not even a permanent fix Bc I still need to replace the motor. I find it highly unprofessional for someone to do a service without giving me heads up, secondly, don't be so unprofessional and rude. It's not even about the money, it's the principle behind it and how condescending and rude this technician was which later I found out he's the "other owner" which makes it even worse. This place is a total rip off stay away, find someone else more honest and reliable.
