My kid had fun so 2 stars for that. He had a blast at the water park and arcade but could only tolerate the highly chlorinate water for about 2 hours. Beds are terrible. Pillows are terrible. Rooms are terribly out dated but plenty of room for a family of 4. I think we paid $510 for 2 nights ( Sat and Sunday) and I don't think it's worth it. On a Saturday or Sunday good luck getting in the main elevators in under 10 minutes. Also good luck finding close parking. Food inside is also really expensive however rooms do have a nice side fridge( no freezer) and a microwave so you can easily bring your own food. Our room was about a 10 minute walk to the water park. I'm not joking -10 minutes. The place is freaking huge. The indoor water park is ok, but it doesn't compare to Schlitterbahn; however, you don't have to deal with 100 degree heat and the strong sun. read more

Our family had a 1 night staycation here. The weekend prices are insane, so we stayed on a week night. For the week night prices, the experience was definitely worth it. Our kids (6, 4, 1) loved staying in the wolf den room with the bunk beds. It was kind of scratched and beaten up, but it was clean and they didn't care. They also enjoyed the arcade and water park. I was worried based on some of the other reviews that the water would be cold, but it was very warm. The food was OK - I wish there was some sort of sit down, slightly nicer restaurant. I warn all parents that have some dignity left in their planning of a lodge... stay away from here. The biggest issues here stem from staff competencies... there is a huge disconnect and I realized that these staff know less than I do. Let's start with check in; the young girl checked me in didn't give me my Wolf Passes when I went back she ignored me and I waited an extra 10 mins while another clerk called me. She explained the other girl was " in training." Next I went to the candy shop, there she told me "your card ran out of money!" I was embarrassed so I went back to the front desk where she explained that the first clerk put a "restriction" on my card. I was furious.. went back to the candy store where I was allowed to get some unfresh gummies... next we went to the Build A Bear shop where "Ocean" (name on the badge) unenthusiastically told us to pick a Bear... didn't explain the process, didn't seem to enjoy her job. At this point, I had to make sure my daughter was the one who had a good time. The best part of this trip was the outdoor decor where it was laced with Wooden Wolves. I don't think this place is worth the $298 per night, not good customer service, place ran by teens/kids. I don't think I saw one adult manager walking around greeting folks or enforcing masks. Please don't waste your money. You can go to Disney World in Florida for prices you end up spending. read more

Overall we had fun here! Perfect for smaller kids. Lots of things to do. Water park is awesome! Our room able to get cool quickly. The breakfast buffet is just ok. We did like the wood fire grill for dinner was actually very good. The only bad thing was my brother got bitten by bed bug. He was on the top bunk of the cabin for the kids. He was the only one that got bitten. We have 2 doctors in our group and the bite patterns looks like bed bugs. The trip was fun till the last day when he got bitten. He went to bed fine and woke up with the bite. Now I have to deal with making sure we don't take these bugs home with us. Disinfecting will be a pain. read more

The water park was fine. The hotel is horrible. You're greeted by cigarette butts all over the front of the hotel entrance. Trash cans are overflowing...we even notified the hotel that five cans near us were full and after several hours they still were not emptied. An employee carrying a salad out to someone dropped the salad on the concrete outside in the pool area. After 30 minutes she not anyone else came to clean it up. Even with several employees walking by and through it. The elevators take forever and some weren't working. Trash was just generally everywhere...in the grass next to the slides that appears to have been there for weeks. Ice cream all over the ground at the Dip n Dots stand...mentioned it to the worker and he didn't even say a word...it was kinda gross that you had to step in it barefoot just to order. Stacked up chairs and tables under the rides outside covered in mud. Pools had things floating in them that could have been skimmed out. The only good thing I can say about the hotel is that our room was surprisingly quiet. read more

Great place with great staff! We checked for a 4 day stay and were greeted by a very friendly bellman named Julio who was nice enough to put up with my wife's rendition of Julio Down by the Schoolyard. When we checked in at the front desk we were given wolf ears. Nice touch and got you into the mood to have fun right away. We got a "kid cabin" which is a queen size room with a built in log cabin for the little ones. The tub was clogged, the light in the bathroom only half works, there is no vent fan in the bathroom, the fridge has spontaneously defrosted twice soaking the entryway, TVs are really small, no USB chargers, super hard pillows. Also, the A/C does not keep the room cool very well. At night it fluctuates between tolerable and "kick the blankets off." The water park is AWESOME!!! We had so much fun and spent soooo much time there. Also the MagicQuest adventures, though a little expensive, kept the kids occupied and gave me one heck of a cardio workout. Overall we really enjoyed this trip and we will be doing it again. The rooms, at least the one we stayed in, need a lot of updating. read more

Be weary of booking a payment plan for your trip. Great Wolf is an experience that comes with a price tag. The payment plan seemed doable. However, somewhere in between me booking the payment plan my calling Great Wolf Lodge reservations line, the payment plan didn't get processed correctly. Though I owed nothing on checkout, I got charged full lump sum a few months later by Great Wolf accessing the credit card I had used during my stay for incidentals. Multiple phone calls and attempts were made to reach the allusive "manager," not one call returned. It was just disappointing Great Wolf cares that little about pleasing the customer. We came here for my son's 13th Birthday. Spent $500+ for a room with a toilet that gotclogged the moment we used it. I think what they meant by "we renovated" this place meant, they painted it. The carpet was wet when we came but I thought it's minor. I have 6 kids with me and I'm the only adult. I asked for 2 extra pillow & blanket. 4 hrs later. Still no pillow & blanket. The Watepark? It was so crowded. I cannot imagine how people swim on a water where everyone is in each other's face &. I couldn't stand the smell of chlorine at the indoor park. We rented the two room suite with two full bathrooms for our party of 8. The room is huge but for $900 a night I would expect something more comfortable and...well, nicer. It was echoing in there so badly because they have ZERO decorations up. The walls felt bare like prison walls, the bathrooms were clean but old. The shower head in the first bathroom sprayed water across the room. The beds were clean and comfortable and the pull out couch was the most comfortable one I'd ever seen. BUT in a room designed for large groups why is the only table a tiny round cage table with TWO chairs? That's literally all the furniture in the giant room other than the pull out couch, a sofa chair, a small coffee table and a standing lamp. That's it. I swear it was surreal it felt like a weird prison I'm not kidding. The TVs got decent reception and channels, the big jetted bathtub was a pleasant surprise. It was old but clean. There's a tiny fridge and microwave and that's it. A lot of weirdly located counter space. The carpet was filthy and stained. ------- now, about the waterpark. We have been to two other GWL in the country and they were very clean and nice and bright. We had amazing times and that was why we picked this "largest GWL in the country" here in Texas as our next getaway. We figured it would be amazing. No. The water park is SMALL and ridiculously overcrowded. It's like they let twice as many people in as the waterpark can hold. Tables everywhere were dirty, staff was decently friendly, there's only ONE bathroom/locker area and lockers were sold out (of course) and a small locker was $20 for the day! What if I just needed it for a couple hours? They make you check out towels and if you lose one or forget one somewhere they charge you $15 a towel. And these aren't amazing towels. They are similar to a bath towel you would find in a motel 6. The arcade is small and not worth it. The pizza place has decent pizza but it was a 25 minute wait to get one. The breakfast buffet is $20 a person! ($10 for kids I think) so we skipped that. We didn't try the restaurant because I know restaurants in resort type hotels are rip offs. Having a Starbucks was nice. The hotel is so huge that it takes you forever to get to your room so you better not forget anything. And there aren't enough elevators so you are basically in for a 20 minutes excursion at least. By the time we got our coffee from the Starbucks up to our fourth floor room it was almost cold. ------- day two of the water park was supposed to be 80 degrees and sunny so we hoped to go outside to avoid the humid stink of the indoor area. They didn't open it until noon but the kids actually started relaxing and having fun and we laid out on some deck chairs and for 2 hours we felt happy and like we were on a nice getaway. The oool our there is only two feet and they have a lot of life guards and it's close to the chairs so you feel safe letting your kids have some freedom of movement (ours were between 7 and 12)....the sun came out and it was nice. Of course, if you have to pee you have to trek indoors to the one on the other side of the waterpark because it's the only one but if you're having a nice time it's not that big a deal. Then........someone pooped in the pool. OF COURSE. Can't we have rules about babies needing to wear swim diapers? So the pool shut down, we paid for late check out and this was at 1:30 so we just loaded up and went back to get packed and cleaned up to leave. The lifeguards made a big show of scooping out the poop and it was just gross. As we left we saw they had reopened it but we were too grossed out by the whole experience. So overall, GWL is off our list of destinations. For $1000 a night you can get a lot more for your money elsewhere. We would have been better off to go to the Gaylord or the Hilton Anatole and just relax and swim in the pool and have a nice time. read more

We seen some burgers that looked really good and decided to try them -- just reminded us of high school cafeteria stuff... definitely not worth $13. My family has been twice for my daughter's birthday, and she really loves the waterpark and the game room. Both the staff at the front desk and the game room staff are wonderful. HOWEVER.... this year they have started a new "pool towel" check out service "for your convenience". If they are not returned, they charge you $15.00 per towel plus sales tax. I thought, no problem. I'll just make sure all 6 of us return the towels. I was told by a park attendant that as long as they are returned before you check out, that you won't be charged for them. We brought the towels to our room overnight, which may have been the problem, but we thought we would just use the same towels the next day, so we would drop them off then, which we did. I personally scanned my wrist band checking out and checking in those towels. I got one bill that was correct in my email the day we checked out. A day later I got the same bill but with $97.43 "pool towel" charge added!!! I immediately called the hotel, was transferred to the manager's voicemail. I left a message. I also got on the website and emailed them for good measure, to make sure someone got my message, that I want a refund. It's been 24 hours and no one has returned my call or message, and I have not been issued a refund. WE DIDN'T TAKE THE STUPID GREEN AND WHITE TOWELS! NO ONE WANTS THOSE UGLY THINGS! The waterpark is fun, but it's expensive, even on weekdays, then to get an extra exorbitant charge for something we could have brought ourselves with no recourse? Forget it. If I don't receive a refund for this ridiculous charge, I will not be returning and will drop this star rating to a 2. Update: 6:10 pm this afternoon I got a call from a nice guy named Landon who said he took care of the Charges for the towels. Very polite and to the point. I am going to review Great Wolf Lodge as the almost always picky and obsessive compulsive person I am. So if you have issues with dampness and bare feet, this review is probably for you. If you are also willing to admit that you're a selfish parent, this review is for you. First and foremost, I want to note that we have had nothing but impressive and positive interactions with all of the staff whom we have encountered from check-in, housekeeping, MagiQuest, eateries, retail establishments- really everyone has been kind and helpful and patient. Even when we weren't paying attention to directions for Compass Quest and had to go back twice to ask for help. Thanks, Adam! The resort itself is ok. I think that some of the rooms have been renovated, but it didn't appear that ours had been- nothing was wrong with it by any means and it was clean enough but the bathroom and carpet is very beige and outdated. We stayed on the 5th floor and for some reason, the cooling on this floor wasn't quite up to par: very warm in the hallways and in our room, we had the thermostat set to 67 and it felt closer to about 72 or 73. As for the water park...I don't like water parks anytime ever so if you're asking yourself why I came here it is because this trip was very generously gifted to us by family and sometimes you do things for your kids that involve a lot of sacrifice, such as watching hundreds of strangers walk around everywhere barefoot on wet floors (even the restroom) when it makes you absolutely want to die. I don't say this lightly. But that's my problem. Anyway, my 9 year old LOVED the water park and had a blast. He was NONSTOP on the slides and lazy river and just couldn't get enough. My 4 year old was kind of into it for a bit but I think he actually preferred being in the outdoor pool more (a bit more calm and manageable for him). We did that for a number of hours until someone pooped in the pool. It happens. As for the food, the breakfast buffet was perfectly fine. It's a buffet, what do you expect? Not anywhere near as bad as some of these reviewers would like you to believe. We ate at the Lodge grill for dinner one night and the food was probably on the level of Denny's but cost us $150 before tip for a family of four. And my husband and I don't drink. I get it, this place is for kids, I don't expect it to be 5 star food, I just want people to have realistic expectations of what they're going to get and what they're going to pay. The pizza place was also fine. I didn't hate it. Overall, it'a a VERY pricey experience and given what my husband and I pay to travel to other cities, stay in nice accommodations and eat really well while experiencing so much of what that city has to offer, I would much rather spend the money on that than my kids just going ham on waterslides and video games. But that's me. And I'm selfish. And a snob. And I don't like water parks or arcades or wet floors or bare feet. Or 10293765 children whose parents haven't taught them how to not be gross and rude. We had the best time. The girls loved every moment we spend there. It was definitely a "staycation". They have got it down on how to tire out the little ones. They did the pool for four hours, dinner, bath and back down stairs for story time and dance. When they hit the bed they was out like a light. All to start again the next morning with breakfast, yoga, story-time, dance and back to the pool. They have something for all kids big and small. I even found a Starbucks. The room was nice and the staff were pleasant. The food at the restaurant was not very good but the prices were high. The worst part was the water park. We went with extended family. A party of 10. We rented a cabana, planning to stay the whole day but couldn't last more than half because of the chemicals. There was so much chlorine that 9 of us became ill. Some vomited, all coughed and had other respiratory issues. At one point, my nephew stopped to all fours from being so sick! The ventilation was nonexistent. It's been four days since our stay and I'm still feeling the effects. I tried reaching out to the hotel to warn them of our difficulties and have had no response. Alarm at midnight that was ridiculously loud asking us to stay calm for an active situation in the hotel and lasted over 30 minutes. Took my kid another hour to go back to sleep. The hotel said a pipe burst for fire suppression and fire department had to come cut alarm. They gave me an hour later checkout which we did not use. No prices on stuff in store. No playground for small kids who get tired of water. Magiquest was on a narrow staircase that was wet and not padded or carpeted, adults running up and down hallways at night, they should have age limits on top golf, didn't like having to call for housekeeping, the hotel was muggy and hot, need more essentials in store, no vegetables at any restaurant, paw pads should be connected to your room so it can't be stolen if lost, bed time story was insanely loud, this great wolf can't cook chicken, arcade prices were insane, 911 should not be a speed dial button. One of the kids hit it while I was in bathroom! This was a tiny great wolf, I expected Texas to be bigger! It was tiny. The lady running build a bear was a grouch. The ONLY PLUS, was the girl running the candy cup. Amazing service but idk her name. Front desk repeated the same spiel three times on check in and one of the room bracelet keys stopped working mid stay. 90 minutes in line wasted I'll never get them back. The only good thing about this place is that you can purchase a half day pass for just a few less dollars than a full day pass a day before and you will still be able to enter the park any time after 11am. We purchased tickets for the obstacle course, when we tried to use them, one of the employees recommended that we dried off first before getting strapped down. So we left , grabbed some food, and relaxed for a bit to dry off in the meantime. When we went back they told us that the obstacle course closed at 4:30 and that we were no longer able to go up, it was now 4:38. They failed to tell us that the attraction closes at 4:30 when we bought the tickets nor when we tried to use them the first time. The lack of communication towards the visitors is horrible. We stayed here for 3 nights and I have to say I couldn't wait to get out of here. So let me just tell you a few things that I wish they could improve. 1. Their beds/pillows OMG they are awful, the beds are sooo uncomfortable and the pillows are just horrible. My neck/back hurt the whole entire time. 2. The loudness damn kids were running and screaming even after hours it's soo annoying 3. The Food was HORRIBLEEEE!! From their pizza spot, indoor swim cafe, to the buffet, to the lodge cafe I hated every single spot. Their buffet had a lot of items but food was average, their pizza OMG was disgusting, the indoor cafe that is inside the water lodge food was horrible, my son wouldn't even eat the chicken strips they were garbage and lastly our last night we went upstairs to the great wolf lodge that was okay I ordered a chicken quesadilla ewww. Please get new restaurants or at least new cooks cuz the food was garbage. I ended up having to uber to restaurants to pick up food for my son so he wouldn't go hungry. 4. Everything here is expensive, the gift shop and restaurants, the packages, magic quest, etc. The gift shop was selling a hat for $19.95 but I found it on amazon for $8.95. =X 5. KIDS EVERYWHEREEEE, OMG!! Kids are constantly running around making nose, doing the magic quest game on every floor trying to find clues they are running around no shoes, no shirts, no parents! Pros: 1. Activities for children they definitely have story time, dance time, yoga and fun things to do for kids. Wiley the Wolf comes around and you can take pictures with the wolf. We went for a girls trip, 3 adults and 2 young girls. We had a blast and enjoyed all the entertainment and dining the lodge had to offer. Our room was spacious and clean. The staff is top notch. The maid service is fast with towel requests and maintenance is quick with fix-it requests. The only reason I didn't give the lodge all five stars is because the beds and pillows, and we had three queen beds and a lot of pillows, was because the mattresses are horribly uncomfortable and the pillows are lumpy and awful. The lousy beds really made for a miserable night trying to sleep. Other than that, our time there was enjoyable. read more

We decided to get a room here to try out the waterpark and the hotel itself. However, the lodge was really underwhelming. The hotel room was nice and it was pretty clean save for the strange stain that may or may not have been blood on the wall by the door. The water park itself was pretty underwhelming. There was really only one thing that was worth doing and that was the hot tub. The waterslides were either kiddy fair or were up too many flights of stairs. The lazy river was ok but nothing you needed to do more than one time. The restaurants were sparse. There was a pizza place and a buffet. The buffet would be great for kids but anyone else would be really disappointed. The beef was tough and chewy. The taco meat was so aggressively seasoned it wasn't worth eating. Most other things were gluten-riddled. There were these desserts that were instant jello brand cheesecake, a "mousse" that was really just pudding and aerated whipped cream. All in all, I was really only able to eat the beef and smiley-faced potatoes. It was not worth the buffet price at all. I wish the grill had been open. While little kids might like this place with its quests and games, you get far much more bang for the buck if you check out the Kalahari instead. Don't think I'll come back. read more

Pros: The kids had an amazing time! They loved everything about it; the water park, the dance party and story time, and all the other cool little activities they had. The kid cabin in the room was super cute for the kids to sleep in. The rope course is really cool - you only pay once and they can do it as many times as they want during your entire stay. Cons: Where do i start?.... DO NOT try sleeping on the pull out couch bed!!! Holy cow, I've never been on a more uncomfortable bed in my life!! I personally would rather just have 2 queen beds instead of the couch. Seriously don't do it! The room also needed some maintenance, the shower head was loose from the wall; the water temperature was a little bi-polar(couldn't get a constant temperature). We had to ask for extra pillows 4 times before we got them. It could just be me being pregnant, but i could not hang out in the water park for long, the chlorine smell is super strong! Thats expected though i think at a public pool. The breakfast buffet was ok, we had eggs and hash browns that were cold straight off the buffet, and found a hair in the banana bread. Overall, we would go again because its really all about the kids, and the bad things were only small inconveniences for the adults. But the resort really should look into fixing a few things. read more

We took a starvation for 3 nights over the Labor Day weekend. I'll begin with some pro tips then give some of the feedback. Pro tips: Request a room close to the elevator if you don't want to walk a LOT! If not, there is an elevator near the end of the hall that is less crowded. If at the end use that. If you want Starbucks in the morning and the resort is crowded, order Starbucks online from the location nearby. It is quicker than the snaking line that goes out the door at the resort and is only 2 blocks away. They had the coffee ready as I arrived to pick it up. Review: On the positive side, the kids loved it and had a wonderful time overall. It was a big win for them. Also some of the staff was very kind and helpful. Michael at the bellhop stand was outstanding and the manager of the restaurants was tremendous. She even walked up to my room with me to bring a corkscrew to open a bottle of wine... which leads me to the service lapses and lack of technology that results in a 3 after a lot of good. 1). Asking the bellhop stand and front desk for a corkscrew. I was told sorry not their problem and they can't help me, but I was given the helpful suggestion to go to a restaurant and ask to borrow a corkscrew... I steady knew this wouldn't happen and expected to be told to bring the bottle to them... I was but when I told her the walk and my frustration she walked with me. 2). If your kid loses the $99 gold pass it's tough luck. Thanks to the great citizen who didn't turn it in and yes they disclosed that if they were lost it's tough luck. However, with the technology of the arm bands to get in the door and pay for stuff can't you link them so we don't have a kid crying his eyes out one night??? No? Minus one star. 3) we had a gift certificate that you can't apply when booking the room. We didn't pack it so I had 3 hours lost first night driving home to get it so we didn't lose out on a $500 gift cert. lost night with family because you don't have tech to apply gift cards ... loss of one star. 4) front desk letting me know the valet is a third party so they can't help us get car pulled up... you can't patch a call??? Lodge was clean, catered to kids' needs, and had a ton of things to do. Sadly, some staff were clearly miserable in their job and, in my opinion, shouldn't work there. The guy at the mining store was passive-aggressive and rude and I had to call it out to him. Also, only place that had frozen drinks available was on 4th floor. My family has been going to Greatwolf the last 3 years, after having my youngest it just seemed like the easiest vacation for us because there's a lot to do in one place. This year will sadly be our last year going, unless they can figure out their AC situation. I understand needing to keep the floor the Waterpark is on somewhat warm so that it isn't freezing when you walk out of the waterpark, but the whole hotel is hot and miserable. The quests are fun, and in my opinion way better than the Waterpark, but you have to go up and down between floors so the elevators get overcrowded, so then you use the stairs which makes you even more hot. People are literally sweating walking around this hotel. One of the staff members said it's always like that, she had a personal fan sitting on her desk. I don't remember it being this hot in the past, so maybe they just need to invest in a new AC unit. The rooms are getting worn down, the carpet in our room was almost sticky it was so dirty and just needs replaced. We went home a day early because of the heat, and we were just over that and everything being so overpriced. The food there is also not very good, and again, overpriced and not worth it. read more

The alarm for our room was programmed to go off at 5:55am. So after a busy day of swimming and playing hoping my daughter would get a good nights sleep we were woken up at 5:55am to a cranky hungry kid. The entire nightstand has been ripped from the wall by my mom strength just be glad I didn't throw it out the window. read more

I arrived for my Grandsons birthday stay and now they are charging $15 a day for parking. Stop it!! Then we paid $15 for a Itty bitty pool area hamburger. Again stop it! This next one just made me want to shake my finger of shame on the way out! There are so many claw games in the arcade, as we all know it's hard enough for k8ds to try those games yet they charge too much for them and the kids lose so many coins on them and are so angry when they drop before they can win. The whole claw system is a joke we all know! We bought a $50 game card and my grandson won 1 pez and 25 game tickets. I wondered why the ticket redeem area was empty and the arcade area looked so empty.. No one had any tickets because games are not kid friendly especially for smaller kiddos. Shame on you Great wolf. SHAME ON YOU! You don't need to bleed families dry, be fair! You already charge too much for barely decent pizza and have no choices for great food. There are other places to go and next time we will definitely look at other places. Again, SHAME ON YOU! As for the staff, you could tell they couldn't wait for their shift to end and not customer friendly at all. Spend your money wisely, go off location to eat, there are plenty of great restaurants very close by that's normally what we try to do. If money is no object then it may be ok to go, but if not do your research and plan wisely. read more
