Exceeded our expectations - YOU WILL BE PLEASED! Trust me! Let's take it from the top.....Hell yes! Let's just say -- we had the most memorable, fun, action-packed family centric Thanksgiving Destination vacation ever! We didn't want to leave! Where to start with this review.. Here we go...We planned a trip here about 9 months ago for the Thanksgiving Holiday. 5 kids under the age of 9, 6 adults...we heard mixed reviews all over the internet.. this location was convenient for all of us. We almost hit the ground. My family flew in from Tampa, Buffalo & Charlotte and we had high hopes of a fun, stress-free, resort style "vacation" - if ya will. And let's just say - WE WERE BLOWN AWAY! Just wow! We checked-in at about 1pm. We were greeted with a warm, friendly staff at the front desk! It was so quick and easy AND EFFICIENT! The line started to get long, but it moved quick. The staff was well presented and well groomed and they actually seemed to like their jobs. There are no rift-raft employees here! Very slight disappointments right off the bat... but it didn't ruin our experience or vacation whatsoever. Just a FYI here.. The resort let's you enter water park at 1pm, while you cannot get your room until 3pm. Sounds great right?! Welp, you have to buy lockers to lock your stuff up. How much could lockers be? Welp, the cheapest one was 15 dollars! And that is a daily rate, and it was very small! We got the large one and it was 20 dollars. You really only use the locker from 1-3pm... because you can check-in to your rooms at 3pm. No problem! Whatever. We go into the changing / rest rooms to throw on our suits and water shoes and its an open large open room to change in. Wait, what? Is this gym class or something? You want me and my family to get naked right here in front of strangers? That's gonna be a no for me, dawg. I'm sorry - with all the whackos in the word and perverts, the kids are NOT getting naked in an open room. Period. We took turns getting changed in the bathroom stalls (just 2 stalls - they were very clean). They had 4 LARGE slides... and they were awesome! And we were super pleased and shook! The Howling Tornado slide was INSANELY THRILLING! I don't think I've screamed and laughed that hard in a long, long time. That first DROP on the slide will have you skip a heart beat -- not for the faint of heart by any means. My 68 year old Mother rode it like a pro (and lost an earring, fyi! lol) I was shocked that my mom rode the slides with my nieces and nephews, but she did! The Howling Tornado slide has a raft that seats 2, 3 or 4 people, with a total weight limit of 700 lbs. The other slides were thrilling and fun as well!Canyon Run was another great one that sat up to 5 in a large tire type raft. But Howling Tornado really took the cake! It was the best for sure. 2 other slides were great as well. The best part is... the lines moved FAST! I don't think we waited longer than 8-10 minutes for any slide!! I was floored ! And this was Thanksgiving week ! They had a playhouse area with some kiddle slides and had water guns / buckets / jungle gym / cargo nets etc in that play area. There was a large pool for basketball! And a huge wave pool (waves weren't that large), a surfing area, a hot tub, and more baby water area as well! There was so much to do! Also - that lazy river was super chill and fun! 2 of the water slides that require you to carry tubes up actually exit into a holding pool with the ability to stay I. your tube and enter the lazy river for the lazy vacation feels! I mean really.. this was on point and strategically planned out. Very cool! They had a hot snack bar and also a fully stocked bar within the water area. We legit had beers / cocktails around noon (it's vacation o'clock, right?) and we enjoyed the fact that we didn't have to drive or haul anywhere for drinks! So fun! The snack bar was reasonably priced and the food looked DELISH!! People would walk by with food and the food sold itself! Great presentation for a snack bar - I looked really scrumptious! We tried alot on the menu! The fries were crinkle cut and pipin' hot and fresh and salty as hell and just perfect! Super huge portion for 3.99! We couldn't even finish them! The chicken fingers were so plump and moist and just super juicy as hell. The breading was super flavorful and crispy and hella crunchy! The burgers looked really good - fresh toppings! The pizza really, really impressed us! This was no little caesars, ya'll! It was super crispy and cheesy and a bit greasy, but not too greasy. Just perfect. It truly was flavorful and not frozen by anymeans! It was delish and was perfect! The cheese was so gooey and chewy and just yummo! We had the best time ever and will be back! TRUST ME. :) read more

Eh. You're paying for the name. Stayed a couple times & wasn't worth all the money that was spent on just the rooms. Was a bit dingy as in the outdated stuff, but the kids bed areas are really fun for them. The indoor water park is good, my kids love it. The outdoor pool is nice... they have dancing and singing for the kids at specific times on specific days. It's more kid friendly than adult friendly, but I see the booze can help with that. The arcade is pretty cool. It's a nice break from the water park. The food is good, nothing special. The pictures online are way more fun & looks a lottttt bigger than it really is. Customer service when you walk in have been great with us. All in all, very expensive, not worth the money or the $85!!!!!! for a DAY PASS to the indoor water park . read more

There's a well-equipped arcade room if it's too rainy and 9 holes of putt-putt laid out under a leaking pipe of the Howlin' Tornado if it's not rainy enough. Ropes course was a ton of fun, if a little nerve-wracking on the upper tiers for the faint of heart. Unfortunately there wasn't enough staff in that area of the park to climb the narrow rock wall. Fair number of families ambling around even on weekdays. Adults can hide from children at the Loose Moose. Wifi and RFID bracelet system are nice, but make sure to grab a paper map to keep from getting turned around. Our suite was pretty nice, though when we called down about a bed that was still dirty, they only came up to leave fresh sheets folded on the offending bed. Dinner catering was awesome and those staff were super nice, but breakfast and lunch were a mixed bag (definitely avoid the Chinese food option if you can, undercooked noodles left half of our conference hungry until the next meal). read more

I'm going to preface this review by saying the kids had a great time and at the end of the day, that's all that matters. For the price, I was expecting more in terms of food and room quality. The food was absolutely terrible and luckily they refunded our meal plans after the first day. Do yourself a favor and go out to eat in Williamsburg. The room was dated and like others said, smelt a little damp and wasn't super clean. Go for the water park and after one day, you will have maxed out what there is to do at the resort. Was expecting more for the price we paid. If we go back, it we'll stay at a nicer hotel in Williamsburg and visit for just a day. read more

Our kids favorite place. This is our second visit and we really love this place. The water park is such a blast. The lifeguards are top notch and so nice. The rooms get the job done, but I think some extra hooks in the bathroom would be very helpful. We needed somewhere to hang swimsuits and towels and it was slim pickings so a lot of towels ended up on the floor and then I needed to request more. My review is mainly for the day passes. I thought this location was actually really clean. We arrived earlier than 4pm and they let us go right on in! Definitely don't over pack as they provide everything you need. When you walk in the chlorine smell is STRONG, but that is a good thing because it is a water park. I did rent a locker which is expensive at $15 just to rent for the day. My kids went right on in and loved every bit of the park. The staff was friendly and the lifeguards are on it with making sure everyone is safe. The food is expensive and I spent $30 on 3 meals but I was expecting those types of prices. This review is two part as we have been twice now so I'll give you the good and bad... Good: 1st trip we came here first two years ago on our honeymoon and stayed almost a week. We had one of the best rooms in the place with a jacuzzi, a king bed, beautiful view, quiet room. Very nice well cleaned rooms and awesome customer service and staff! We purchased every meal and tried every restaurant and thing that they had to offer, we never even left the building to go to the car for 5 straight days. 2nd trip we came here last Sunday for our second anniversary for a quick getaway. We booked a king sized bed, it was nice enough, i'll touch on the downsides in a bit. We had clean towels, and enjoyed the water park upon arrival. We were able to check into our room around noon which was nice. We had dinner at the restraunt and later on ice cream and fudge. We played in the water park some more. Enjoyed the hot tub. One slide was closed for maintenance unfortunately. We woke up to the breakfast buffet which we enjoyed. It was busier than our first stay but still gor to do everything we wanted to Bad news: Upon checking in the front desk agent was very unpleasant, we had a few questions which she seemed annoyed at. We both walked to our room and commented to eachother her attitude was something to lack, especially for a vacation resort. Obviously the one slide being closed was a bummer. The ice cream shop employees also had a less than friendly customer service attitude. I work in customer service and always try to be friendly and smile and say hello, but neither of them smiled back or even gave a hint of friendliness. Our room was freezing and we had to turn the heat up to 76 which still kept the room quite cold. It had to be wrong, at our home we always keep the heat at a comfortable 70. We fi ally cranked the heat to 82 and eventually was warm enough we could go to sleep. Husband slept in sweatpants and long shirt due to the fact he was still cold, but I being in shorts and a tank top woke up to bites on my legs and arms, I eventually found one bug somewhere in the sheets, I didnt try to find more simply killed the one I found and gathered my stuff and we checked out... read more

I am very shocked how horrible the guest service here is. Basically, they did not clean the suite at all while we were away the whole day. They only put two towels and shampoos, and that's it. They did not vacuum the floor or pick up dirty towels or replace bedsheets or anything. They did not even empty the garbage bins. I called the front desk and they say guests generally do not want their suite to be cleaned. Are you fking kidding me?!?! We're paying for 500 bucks and more for this horrible service?? I have to start off by saying this place is a kids haven! I've been waiting for my son to get big enough (to use him as an excuse) to go to Grey Wolf, so when I saw the groupon special I jumped on it. We honestly had a great time! From start to finish, we saw kids of all ages running down the halls, some with their magic wands tapping this and that to open boxes or make something move. Alot of kids were unsupervised, but it felt like they were in a safe environment... so I eventually stopped checking around the corners to see where their parents were. Ok, let's go back a little. When we checked in they gave us these wolf ears that were super cute, and a map of the place. You also get a wrist band to access the building and your room. I thought this was a very convenient touch. Our room was close to an entrance door and stairways so I was a little concerned about the noise level, but it didn't turn out to be that bad. They provided us with a crib and the set up of the room was where we could lay our son down on the other side of a half wall for a nap. The beds were comfy and the shower was great. Beware of the hot water tho. It's hella hot! After getting settled in we checked out the water park. They have something for all ages. Different kinds if life jackets are available for the little ones and plenty of life guards are about. There's also plenty of seating, and fresh towels are provided. We played in the little kiddie area for awhile before my husband decided to go down the family slide. I think my son will enjoy it a little more when he's a bit older cause at this point a little bit if hysteria set in half way down and he was more like get me outta here! After we left the park we got cleaned up and went to the kids dance party out in the lobby where my 17 month old buggied down with the best of'em, and got plenty of hugs from the grey wolf. We didn't end up staying for story time cause our little one was running out of energy fast, so instead we went down the road to this bbq joint for dinner. Hibernation period is from 11pm to 7am, so all of the running around and kids playing stopped then. The next morning my husband decided to let our little guy do some "off hand" running around while following close behind of course. They checked out the game room and got a donut at one of the shops. We decided not to go back to the water park that morning since we were checking out, but we will definitely be coming back! read more

Plenty of friendly employees to help. Make sure you get a wand early to get the most play for it. You can get in early, before checking in and play in the water park. Same with check out. Pack everything up except some dry clothes. Get a locker and go play for a few hours before leaving. Check out the activities that are downstairs before making too many plans. We reserved a Grizzly Suite with two bedrooms and we highly recommend this for a number of reasons. First, much more space and privacy for two sets of adults,a 5 and one year old. Only downers. Rooms will be ready soon for a refresh or remodel/ and they have already started remodeling/lack of closets space to hang clothing/HVAC was a bit wacky. Room seemed too be too hot or cold. The nice fireplace was a help though when it was cold. Also ...we could have used more table and counter space/ WI-FI is horrific. Forget about streaming and I had to use cellular ! In general, the rooms were comfortable. Not the Marriott or Hyatt but they worked fine. The hotel staff was excellent. Always available, accommodating and very professional. This is even during the tail end of the pandemic with huge staffing shortages everywhere. The hotel features: The Waterpark is the marquee facility and this is what makes the hotel. The water rides were all staffed and we had very few waits at each water slide. I'VE BEEN TOLD TO AVOID WEEKENDS IF YOU DON'T LIKE CROWDS. A few times during the weekdays, it was a little crowded and I would not recommend going when it is at full capacity. They did hold a nice variety of children events in the lobby all day into the evening like yoga, bingo, crafts ,storytelling, characters. dancing etc. The arcade is nice but very expensive. Games can cost $2-3 a piece but fun for family and kids. The Magic Quest Wand game was not our thing. We tried it for and hour or so with our 5 year old granddaughter and got totally lost 1/3 the way. Now for the food and restaurants. We did not try the main buffet restaurant because it looked a bit pricey and we did have a five and one year old. The buffet was not impressive at all either. We did get a pizza one night from the bar and grill by the pool and it was very good for $16 dollars. We also ordered lunch and snacks for the pool areas and they were good for the price and very convenient . If you want alcoholic beverages, the costs are similar to going to a major league ballpark. Expensive. The best deal in the hotel food wise was the Dunkin' Donuts off the main lobby. The coffee and donuts were all fresh and the prices were very reasonable. The little ice cream parlor was reasonable too for the convenience of being right there. Miscellaneous info. The gift shop is really terrific with a really nice inventory. Prices of course are the same for any theme park : pricy /Plenty of good parking onsite / wristband keys are terrific/plenty of carts for self service valet/ elevators are plentiful but slow/didn't see any laundry/ ice machines/WIFI needs work/ HiDef TVs Cable is Basic 20 -30 main channels but all good. / Mini ten pin bowling was fun and not too costly.... Finally , if you do not like to walk great distances, make sure you request a room close to the Lobby- Waterpark. My family and I had a great experience the the Great Wolf Lodge in Williamsburg over the weekend. We checked in on Friday and checked out on Sunday. We were able to check in early on Friday and staff was very friendly and helpful. They allowed us to add packages throughout the trip which definitely helped and last minute put the birthday package together for us. The experience is very expensive but we overall had a great time. There are many attractions outside of the Waterpark including free yoga classes and crafts. We ate at both the pizza place and Buckets in the water park, both were great. The only things that we didn't like was the terrible smell at different locations throughout the facility. While the facility was very well maintained and clean, a terrible septic smell would hit you on occasion and last for a while. The room also had a mildew smell to it. And while at the Waterpark a lifeguard would come by and throw a child mannequin into the water dressed in regular clothes and the other lifeguards would have to retrieve it. We weren't prepared for the exercise and it was quite traumatizing to many in the wave pool. I just wish someone would have warned us ahead of time. We would definitely recommend and return, although next time we will try coming on a weekday so that it is not so busy. By Saturday the location was sold out and at max capacity. The staff is always friendly an helpful usually above average. Would suggest water shoes as the surface in the park can be pretty slick. NOT COVID-19 safe. Anti-Covid safety measures as required by VA law were only partially enforced, leaving my wife and I very concerned and we were very close to leaving. Perhaps we should have, except when it was for our kid's birthday and kids don't understand that kind of thing. We did our best to keep distant from other guests, use sanitizer, wear masks, and wash our hands. But we felt like it was up to us. Pros: -They cleaned a lot and wanted everyone to wear masks around the resort. I could tell they were trying to enforce Virginia state Covid laws (just not in the water park itself). Cons: -The lines for the surfing station was not even close to being socially-distanced, and the staff NEVER tried to space everyone out. I notified customer service about this the night we checked in, and they said they would notify the water park staff. Whether they did or not, there were zero changes the next day. ZERO. -The wave pool also had a number of guests not distancing at all. The lifeguards (or any staff for that matter) did nothing to address this. -All this wouldn't have been as big a concern except no one was wearing masks. They don't require you to do so when you're in the water park area, as though chlorinated water magically cleans the air, which it does not. The law doesn't require you to wear a mask while in a pool or enjoying a water feature, but distancing IS required. Just not enforced by GWL staff. Also, during our stay in particular they kicked us out early (at 1pm, while normally we can stay until closing at 7pm or so) without warning us ahead of time. They mentioned it was for a deep clean, which is totally fine, but again we had no warning and had made plans to stay until the park normally closed that day. They reminded us a number of times during our stay of the early closing, and I got the distinct impression they couldn't wait for us to leave. Which isn't a great feeling when you've spent a lot of money and driven a long way for a special experience. I'm taking it to mean management is in over their head bc of COVID, so I have a measure of compassion. The water park and everything was good (aging and worn, but ok), the pizza and salads were good, our kids had fun, and the staff overall was courteous. It's also nice to be 4 minutes from a Wal-Mart when we needed something. I'd give it 4 stars if they had abided by covid laws as promised, and hadn't made me feel pushed out. If they can afford to renovate a little and make it through the pandemic, I think it will continue to be a fun place for families. Great Wolf is designed to keep a smile on kids faces, and keep the money flowing out of the parent's wallet. But before you run away, it may be worth it. The regular rooms (we've never been able to get a themed one, as they are booked) are pretty standard mid-tier hotel fair, and acceptable. Nothing amazing, but reasonably spacious and ours have been clean. The water park is the star, we've only come when the outdoor is closed but the indoor is quite nice. Not the best we've ever been to, but above average. Being able to walk from your hotel room right down to the water park and back sure is nice. The surprise star of the show was MagiQuest. Our daughter loved it. At first you look at the price and go, "can this be worth it?" Well, I think she got 3-4 hours of entertainment out of it each day. Beware if you follow your kids, my phone showed I walked 5 miles! In terms of $/hour of entertainment, it's actually a bargain. The "Paw Pass" is cleverly designed to take your kid to every "extra" that can be bought. It is a deal if you want to do them all, but it will also likely cost you more along the way. The arcade is over-priced compared to competitors, I would rate it the worst value. Bowling was ok. The 3D movie was ok. The spa has an over-the-top kids area if your girls are into such things. Food options on site are a dinner buffet (see separate review) which is reasonable, a pizza shop that was clearly popular but we didn't try, and snacks around the pool. One plus, they give you a wrist band that works your door, checking towels in and out, and allows you to buy snacks at the snack bar. It's waterproof, so you literally don't need to carry anything else with you to visit the water park. Pretty cool idea. Would I pay peak rates here? Probably not, they get high enough I don't think the fun per dollar is there. But going at less busy times? No, it's not cheap, but it's not that crazy expensive either, and your kids will love it. I would say this place is optimized for maybe 6-13 year olds, and has something to offer 4-16 year olds or so. Your kid will have a smile on their face when you leave. read more

I took my 17 month old here and we had a BLAST. In fact, I think this place is great for toddlers and up. The waterpark is great; the lifeguards are very attentive. They have slides for toddlers and older kids/adults. The arcade was excellent as well. They have a duck-pin bowling alley. The buffet didn't look too good, but was actually rather delicious. They have a great salad bar and real desserts. All the employees had a huge smile and were kind and welcoming. They also offer free amenities such as story time and a dance party. read more

The people at check in gave us the wrong directions to our room, so we ended up lugging around our 18 month old twins and our 5 year old around for quite a while. Employees we saw along the way were not helpful and didn't even know the general direction our room was. Our phone didn't work when we arrived in the room, which was unfortunate because the two pack and plays we had requested for our twins prior to our stay were not in the room. We had to find the corporate number on the spotty WiFi just to call the front desk for a replacement phone and two pack and plays. We got the phone, and one pack and play. Why does a hotel need to be told over three times that we request two pack and plays? We finally got the second one, without sheets. We waited another 30 minutes for sheets. The hotel decided to replace mattresses for all the beds during our stay, and they filled the halls with the mattresses all day. It was hard to get past them, and definitely not something you could bypass with a stroller. The workers would actually make us wait so they could pass. We weren't allowed to leave the water park with the towels, which was difficult with 3 small children who I didn't want to get cold on the way back to our room on the way other end of the hotel, through mattress hell. My 5 year old has a severe heart defect, basically half a heart (we actually stayed here to celebrate the 5 year anniversary of his first open heart surgery), and he cannot be cold for long or his oxygen saturations plummet. It was a struggle to find a place to change him into dry clothes before our towel-less trek. I've never been so frustrated during a hotel stay. The room was nice, and the housekeepers were very nice. I wouldn't stay here again though, and I would tell others to spend their money elsewhere. This was a huge disappointment. read more

I come here often for the kids but this may be my last visit until they build one close to home next year. The living area is good for the most part with a lot of space. The outlet where the microwave is, you have to keep resetting the GFI to use the microwave. Loved our stay at the Great Wolf Lodge! We came to celebrate our daughters 6th birthday and could not have asked for a better time. The free wolf headbands were an excellent touch to start the vacation. There were roller carts to help for your luggage however I had to employ one of our kids to help me go find one since they're not located anywhere near check in. After finding one on the second floor we raced and finally reached our room. We had the two standard beds and a pull out couch. We requested the top floor after reading how loud it can be in any other floor. Aside from a dirty washcloth in the shower and a broken telephone, the room was great. You have to think of how many families have slept in that same room. Beds were comfy. AC was great and mini fridge with complimentary water was wonderful. We asked for two extra pillows and an extra blanket for the couch and room service was fast and friendly. The pool park itself was great. Hot tubs (1 for adults only-located close enough tot he kids hot tub to still be able to see them) Wave pool, lazy river, surf jet, two smaller pools (still great size) for the kids, a gigantic tree house with two race slides, and then about 5 slides that can involve two or more. They had a good variety for all (those that like to be thrilled and those that a bit more timid). Kids have been asking to go back. Food on site was decent for the price. There is a bar on the first floor but they don't know too many drinks (like an irish coffee). The huntsman is just outside of the park in the same parking lot and they offer reservations from yelp and they were fantastic. read more

Williamsburg, VA There are two great employees here: Tracy Richardson (the dining manager) and Scott White (the gift shop manager, I could have his name wrong though, but he is an elderly, white gentleman). They both went above and beyond to help me and I will say they are the best assets to this place by far. This place is super dingy and smells moldy. It is dank, dirty, and the rooms are broken and 1/2 functional. The floors are sooooo yucky. They have the kids sit on them during the events and I wanted to bathe and sanitize after. EVERYTHING IS WAY OVERPRICED!!! The bowling alley was shut down. That being said, I have to be honest, the kids loved it. If it weren't for their joy, I would have packed up in the first 10 minutes. This place needs a serious sanitation and overall upgrade. read more

In 2018 we came for our family reunion and the service was great; but this time I can't say the same I'm not sure if it's because we were with the larger group before or if it's due to Covid or if it's just new staff that's not as friendly but here's my review I'll do the pros first. PROS: Everything you need is literally in this one building. The water park is great something for everyone to do (because of Covid the hot tubs are not open). The arcade is great easy to win no child should leave that arcade unhappy we have never won so may tickets EVER anywhere. The magic quest is definitely great for all ages. The resort is small enough that you can definitely let your kids go off on their own and explore. Laser tag is good for all ages the room isn't too big so it's not just for older children. The bowling was pretty fun right now only 3 lanes are open so try to go during pool hours because once the pool closes everything else gets packed. CONS: When we came in there were 5 people working the front and it was like they all were trying not to look at me so they wouldn't have to help and finally I'm assuming it was the manager said for someone to help. The person that checked us in wasn't very welcoming but I drove 3 hours so I wasn't really too worried about that I just wanted to get to my room. When we got to the room there was only one wash cloth In the bathroom but we had 6 dry towels and 3 of us in the room. The next day house keeping didn't come so I took wash cloths off of a cart near by. The second day house keeping was near our room when we left out but skipped us again. The finally say house keeping decided to come at 9am but I locked the door no need for them to come now. The food was horrible like every my children didn't like it and that's rare it cost too much money to be that bad. The magic quest store they weren't helpful at all some children playing the game in the lobby were more helpful as far as telling me what was good to buy for the game. I think the staff could use some customer service tips or some kind of training because it was definitely not the best service this time. I've been to Great Wolf Lodge (this location, specifically) 4 times, total. This time around, it was for my son's 3rd birthday! I had just as much fun as I did all the other times I went. What really made me enjoy my time was seeing my son happy. The waterpark was fun, it's definitely suitable for all age groups. Having a toddler, I wish there was a bigger area with more activities for him at the waterpark. There were two baby slides, a post that dumps water, and little sprinklers. But he was getting bored in that one little area. The suite - not entirely my favorite. We reserved the premium suite 'Grizzly Bear Suite'. As soon as we got into the room, it felt very damp. The temperature was adjusted to the lowest temp, but still felt very hot. The room my husband and I stayed in was extremely loud. The air coming out was right by our bed and we could barely hear each other talk. The toilets would clog up every now and then. It was just not the most comfortable stay we've had. The nice thing about this place is that there are plenty of activities to do for the entire family. There's a spa, an ice cream parlor, a pizza place, the waterpark, a little bowling alley, a movie theater, and an arcade. Unfortunately, we were only able to do the arcade. It was very entertaining with a ton of games, but it was just too expensive. We paid $25 for a game card, and was only able to play half the amount I would have been able to play at a normal arcade. Overall, if you're looking for somewhere to take the whole family, or just the kids to get some good bonding time - just make sure to bring some extra money because it's pricey, lol. read more

So I'm tapping this out using my casted arm, but more on that later. We visited GWL on a one night stay, having gone several times before this latest stay this past week. A little bit of a rocky start, we had four rooms reserved that we asked to be located as close together as possible ahed of time. On checking in, we found no provision had been made for that request. We had 4 rooms on three different floors, but they were able to at least keep us at the same location on each floor. If you know the lodge layout, you'll appreciate that effort. So really, not much to complain about... So, being a waterpark, everything's, well, wet. That said, let me advance warn you on a particular area. I watched two children on two separate times in one day, slip and fall in one particular place . Just to the right of the wave pool entrance, in the area leading to the bathroom and hot tub location, is where water seems to pool a bit and gets slick. Knowing that, I cautioned kids, including my own grandkids, about going slow, walking and not running. And yes, you've probably guessed it, it's exactly where I slipped, and broke my wrist. A staff member was alerted, provided me an ice bag, took the details of my injury, and gave me directions of where to go for emergency assistance. He advised me that Williamsburg GWL would follow up by phone and did, but I was unable to answer while under anesthesia! To say this marred my experience this time at GWL would be an understatement. However, it's a great family fun place, and with ten grandkids who love the place, I will return. Just gonna go ahead and heal up first...! read more

This has been another great family vacation with the family. Three days of slaying dragons and goblins while swimming and sliding in many different pools. One thing I can say is that my legs are sore from running up and down stairs to accomplish the missions. What fun oh what fun we have had this week. Lower your expectations if you want satisfaction. Here is the deal, there are some good things about this place. Sporadically, you get a very helpful person that will go above and beyond to assist you. On the other hand, there is an unfortunate side of this place where there are more people that don't care enough to be helpful. This soils the entire experience. My family checked in today. Great check in experience, even earlier than we expected. After arrival we did some exploring. Ordered from one of the many restaurants at the hotel named "Buckets". The employees had our food sitting at the counter and it took forever to get their attention. I could see the three of them talking to one another and after a few minutes they give us our food. I take the food back to the room and my kids hot dog is cold and the chicken fingers were undercooked but the burgers were good. I will probably break this review down better as we expire one each restaurant individually but for now, this is what we've experienced. read more

I'm giving this resort a 2 star for now because of a bad honesty experience! The resort itself is great, we go there almost every year during winter time but I don't think we'll go back after this year's experience. My daughter left her backpack with her nintendo switch in it last Feb. 15 in our room at Great Wolf Lodge, Williamsburg and I reported it right away that night after we got home. It's so sad that the management couldn't find it until now! There's no hope anymore that we can still recover it! That was my birthday gift to her when it first came out. There's no way housekeeping couldn't find it that big with all the information i gave them like room number, time we checked out etc! Etc! She left the whole backpack! . It's just sad! Horrible customer service. Accuse of playing with the phone while everyone is eating breakfast and no where near the phone. Tone is horrible. Room is so cold in the middle of the winter because the window can't close properly. Everyone's Wristbands got deactivated for no reason. Spoke to management and all they can say is we are sorry. No solutions. The resort reached out to us by email wanted to discuss the issue. Wrote back with our phone number and time to discuss. The reply to them went to the black hole. Never get any response back not call back. Name of the management who reach out to us was Nicole McSweeney. If you want to make things right please follow up and really make it right. We decided to stay at Great Wolf Lodge while we were visiting Colonial Williamsburg. The kids loved the water park. I did not swim but sat in the water park and the chlorine smell is not terribly overpowering which is really nice. You can buy a souvenir cup that has free refills for your entire stay and can be used again if you return or visit another location. Our room was roomy and very nice, especially for the discounted price per night we paid. The beds are very comfortable. The noise from the hallway and other levels was not bad and we slept throughout each night without issue. I definitely recommend adding the Wolf Wakeup Breakfast to your reservation (it just be added in advance of your stay). The breakfast buffet is great. The food was the best hotel breakfast food I have ever had (my comparison is the Drury, Ritz-Carlton, Marriott, and Hilton brands). There is a nice variety and everything was fresh. Plus, there is an omelette station available as well. The resort is not new so there is some wear but not so much that it is a distraction. There is a refundable hold placed on your card ($100 per night), but I have never stayed at a location that did not place some additional hold for extra charges or possible damages so it was not a surprise. If our school group decides to do this next year, we will definitely visit again. read more

When we first got to the resort, check in went well. But once we got to our room we noticed the safe was locked and I had requested a pack and play on our reservation, which was not in the room. I called the front desk and asked for a pack and play and for someone to unlock the safe. The staff who answered was very short but told me she would send someone. Someone brought a pack and play soon after, but we had to wait to take the children to swim until someone could come unlock the safe. Almost 30 minutes later I had to call the front desk again and ask for someone to come unlock the safe. We had gotten to the resort late so this cut into what little time we had left to use the water park before it closed for the night. The next morning we went to the loose moose cottage for the breakfast buffet which we had paid for when we made the reservation in order to save some money. When we finished eating we got a bill and were asked if we wanted it to be put on our room. I told our waitress (who was very friendly) that we had pre-paid for the buffet, she told us we should have gotten a voucher upon check in. We hadn't, so I had to leave the buffet and go to the front desk to ask for one. Later that day I checked our bank account and saw an authorization for more than what it should have been. We were almost overcharged for our meal. As I said, we paid for the breakfast buffet in advance and they proceeded to put an $11 charge on our bill for the breakfast buffet for our 3 month old! They didn't bother to check ages, they just saw family of 5 and charged for 5 meals. It's a good thing I checked our bank that day before leaving the hotel, I was able to visit the front desk and get it sorted out. The staff member who helped me wasn't very friendly, though she wasn't rude, she seemed bored and annoyed. Before leaving our room, I bunched up the blankets to make it easier for housekeeping staff to remove them for cleaning, (a friend I had who worked in room service years ago told me that the housekeeping staff appreciate this). Upon lifting the bottom of the blanket, near the foot of the bed, I found spots that appeared to be old blood, or dirt. This is AFTER my son had already slept on that side of the bed, thankfully he was short enough that he feet didn't touch the spot (I've uploaded a photo of the blood spots). Looking more closely, the mattress pads and blankets weren't as clean as I would've liked. The bed skirt on one of the beds was badly torn in many places, it really detracted from the feeling that we were at a quality hotel. At one point at the water park I asked the information desk staff if there were family changing rooms (there is one at the NC location) and she wasn't sure. I had to further explain and finally she told me she "didn't think" they had those. I walked around the water park and figured it out for myself. As a mom with 3 boys, a family changing area is important. My older boys are too old to bring into the women's changing are with me. Overall, the water park itself was enjoyable, the lifeguards seemed to be doing their job well with no distractions, none of the rides were out of service while we were there. On the other hand, the rooms and front desk staff left much room for improvement, for the price paid. The only reason I would return to this location vs the NC one which is actually an hour closer to us, and has MUCH nicer rooms, is because the VA location has the lazy river which my kids really enjoyed. read more

For one, they made us wait an hour after check in time leaving us with our baggage in the lobby. Then the temperature after 4 hours in the bedroom would not go down passed 80 degrees, so we asked the front desk for 2 fans. We were told sure! They'll be up shortly to bring you your fans. 2 hours later still no fans. We purchased the birthday package, which is supposed to be set up in your room upon arrival to your room, and that was missing..... that was a huge bummer for my birthday boy who was looking forward to the balloons, etc. So I had to text their AI and ask them where that was! THEN we tried using the phones to call down to the front desk because we're on the fourth floor and getting down there is a huge pain with the amount of people (children playing majiquest on each floor) who use the very limited amount of elevators in this resort.... And the phones will not connect you to the front desk as there is always a busy line. We were in the pool and a child threw up a large amount, I literally watched the life guards look at it, discuss it, AND WALK AWAY TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE POOL AND NOT CLEAN IT. I will never in my life ever recommend this place, only to people I despise and even then that is cruel. read more

This was my first time at great wolf lodge and was looking forward to it because I've been wanting to go for a while! Originally we thought it was the one in pa but it was Virginia! They run specials for large groups and also I've seen deals on groupon and other sites pop up. We only stayed for a night for my friends sisters 50th so it was a great group! Some of the group had kids and stayed longer. The place is definitely designed for kids. Especially if it's a kids birthday. You also get free ice cream on your bday! Luckily we are all big kids! ) They had balloon animals being made in the lobby, ice cream shop, mini bowling alley, 3d theatre, and even a kids spa! The adult spa is Aveda which is one of my favorites so I was happy about that! They also have a small gym but the equipment was in good shape. Plenty of land though to walk or jog outside. They also surprised me with the game room it was much bigger than I thought it would be. They have a pool outdoors with a rock climbing wall, bar with food, and fun little additions so it's not just a basic pool. Indoors the water park is small but a lot of fun. The water is shallow everywhere, designed for kids so don't expect a big lazy river or big waves. My favorites are the larger four person tube ride and the boogie board surf was the best! I was scared at first but do it!!! It looks like it hurts if you wipe out but it doesn't really - just ladies --- wear a t shirt or a one piece Saw a few "pop outs" happen and boys - tie your shorts tight!!! One poor kid lost them entirely :( they just flew up the wave :( Rooms were clean and showers were clean and modern. Restaurant and bar food was also good which is huge! read more

I would like to start this review by saying all the kids we had with us on this trip enjoyed, it was 7 ranging in ages from 2-12. However as an adult looking at the things that do matter, like cleanliness I have a HUGE concern For the prices that you pay at GWL it should be much cleaner. We stayed in a room with a new, damp juice stains on various areas of the carpet, a random hole in the carpet that my two year old insisted on checking out multiple times, a filthy air conditioning system and a Mildewy smell. Carpet- like most ppl we checked in and went to enjoy the water park until our room was ready so we ended up not getting back to the room until close to 8 pm. When we noticed the stains we alerted the housekeeping guy who came to our room to bring up a new box of Kleenex (I'll let you know about the old box in one sec) I told him get there is a huge red juice stain on the carpet and we don't want to get blamed for it is there something you can do? He replied oh you're ok you won't get charged. Ummmm how about offer to clean it? Only because it was close to 10pm and my children were exhausted I didn't make a huge fuss about getting another room but that was a terrible response! Kleenex- the box of tissues in our room were stuffed with OLD used tissues!! Like why isn't a fresh box supplied when the rooms are cleaned?? DISGUSTING!! When I called down to guest services to inquire about getting a new box she paused and asked is that all you would like (as if the request was too small). Toilet Tissue- this resort must use the cheapest commercial toilet tissue available. It literally melts as soon as it touches any type of moisture. Not good for a water resort! Story time- the story time in the main lobby is a great idea! Everyone seemed to enjoy it! However the associate on Monday night was EXTREMELY rude to the children when she wasn't talking into the headset. My two year old got up at the end and wanted to wave to the character she hopped in front of her and screamed no touching. Really? She's 2 totally unnecessary! Water Park- the water park was a lot of fun and really crowded but not to the extent that you wouldn't enjoy yourself. I do recommend getting a cabana to avoid searching for a place to sit, especially if you're with a larger party. Also as it gets later in the afternoon the prices go down. At 2pm we paid $85 for ours. I would recommend water shows as i saw several water type beetles or whatever they were crawling around on the floor. Lifeguards/Front Desk - the lifeguards are EXTREMELY attentive. That made us feel really safe to see how they watch the water like Hawks! Front desk check in associates were very friendly and accommodating Food- the pizza was HORRIBLE- it looked good but looks can fool you! We love pizza from most places so this pizza being so bad was shocking Overall the children had fun. I just don't know if we could return based on the cleanliness. That's a huge deal to us. This place has the potential to be perfect but they definitely need to get a better cleaning crew and update those nasty rooms. read more

This place is well.. Getting worse by the year. ... Check in is from hell . Got here at 2.. Line snaked down the hallway! Came back at 4.... Line is still really long and barely moves... Once you check in you have to wait in another line 20 deep to hope you get w room assigned. For 500 a night your better off staying elsewhere and coming in on a day pass. In my opinion, we had a good time, but the company can be misleading.  First, the good parts: I think you can get a good value on a family vacation.  The park is fun for a wide age range and they are friendly.  The park seems clean and we'll maintained. Now being a little critical: I do not think that they are as allergy friendly as they say they are and it let us down.  My child's allergies are among the most common and they had very little for him.  We mainly used our own food.  The cabana rental does not meet the online description and is located too far from the activities.  If you have a question before your stay, do not be surprised to wait on hold for 20 minutes.  Also, their buffet seemed to be about the same each day, so it might be less appealing after the first day. read more
